20 Questions For Fic Writers
Tagged by @dandywonderous
1. How many works do you have on AO3?
19. I'm fairly new to fanfics, I only started reading and writing them in 2020.
2. What's your total AO3 word count?
356,543
3. What fandoms do you write for?
I'm currently writing for The Sandman, but most of my works and my WIPs are for Twisted Wonderland, and I had written one chapter of a fic for Love Never Dies.
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
1. Granting Favors (Twisted Wonderland) 2. The Two Princes (Twisted Wonderland) 3. A Way In (Twisted Wonderland) 4. Tomorrows Over Centuries (The Sandman) 5. Post-Gala Celebration (Twisted Wonderland)
5. Do you respond to comments?
Yes! I love interacting with my readers in the comments section~ Sometimes it takes me days to respond sdkjfkdslfj but I do respond! And I'm trying to make a habit of replying sooner.
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
Hmm, I always write happy endings, but currently The Repertoire Continues (Love Never Dies) and A Dragon's Soft Spot (Twisted Wonderland) have angsty endings, but only because so far I've only written their first chapters 😅
7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
Probably Tomorrows Over Centuries (The Sandman). Mostly because almost the entire fic is the characters just having a fun time. (Also it's Explicit because of the third chapter, just a heads-up in case you wanna check it out.)
8. Do you get hate on fics?
So far no. I'm actually low-key scared of getting some, haha.
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
Yup. All smut I write have a lot of Feelings, even if there's no plot to the fic. It's always romantic smut. It's just fun to write.
10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?
So far no. Though I really wanna write a The Sandman and Good Omens crossover someday. The idea itself is a bit daunting for me, haha, but I've read a fic with that crossover, and I genuinely wanna attempt it myself.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not to my knowledge.
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
Nope, that would be super cool, though.
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Yes, I've co-written a few fics with @patchyegg87~
14. What’s your all time favourite ship?
Dream of the Endless/Hob Gadling (The Sandman) Azul Ashengrotto/Jamil Viper (Twisted Wonderland) is a close second!
15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
I would like to believe that I can finish all of my WIPs, haha. But the one that would probably take the longest to finish is The Repertoire Continues (Love Never Dies), which I realize is ironic given the title alskjdfsldf. I rarely see any other content from the fandom so my brainworms for it don't get activated. I would still like to finish it someday, though.
16. What are your writing strengths?
Dialogue and emotions. Character voice is one of my favorite things to write, discovering how different characters would have various reactions to the same situation. I've often had to modify outlines because I'd realize that the original flow of the scenes didn't make sense anymore because the characters' reactions wouldn't lead them to that outcome. And bringing emotions out of characters is fun too, especially the stoic and tsundere characters. It's why I like writing Hurt/Comfort, haha.
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
Writing descriptions for places, outfits, and food 😣 Especially places. I have a hard time imagining what a place might look like. That's usually what I ask @patchyegg87 for help with when we co-write fics. And she has recently taught me how to use Pinterest as a reference when writing descriptions for stuff, and I'd been practicing that. I really wanna get better at writing visual descriptions, it's always so cool when I read a fic that has such vivid imagery.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?
I have no problem with it. The very first fic I'd written, A Rival in Scarlet (Twisted Wonderland), has some French sentences in it that were translated into English when the POV switched to the French speaker's. Fanfics are for having fun, and sometimes part of that is incorporating another language you know or are trying to learn~
19. First fandom you wrote for?
Twisted Wonderland
20. Favourite fic you’ve written?
Ooh, I don't know, that's a hard one. Granting Favors (Twisted Wonderland) would always have a special place in my heart because it's my first multi-chapter fic and I honed much of my writing skills in that one. "I Do": The Long-Term Deal (Twisted Wonderland) is also very fun to write and that's the fic where I really learned to write character voice well because it's post-canon and the characters have aged a few years, and it was fun to figure out how they had changed in that time while retaining their core personalities. And of course Tomorrows Over Centuries (The Sandman). I'd read a lot of Dreamling fics before writing that one, and I was so happy to finish a Dreamling fic of my own. I love them, Your Honor.

Writer Asks
I was tagged by the dearest of all dearhearts, @cassiopeiasara
1. How many works do you have on AO3? 53, but full disclosure, I haven't yet moved everything I've written to AO3 yet.
2. What’s your total AO3 word count? 885,181 (but honestly, OBaaT Georg is an outlier, and maybe shouldn't have been counted...)
3. What fandoms do you write for? Currently? Ever? Currently, it's SuperCat and, more recently, Guiding Light/Otalia. Stupid unfinished WIP that has haunted me for 15 years...
4. What are your top five fics by kudos? These are all SuperCat, btw. One Bridge at a Time, At the Pleasure of the Hotel de la Paix, Uncharted (part 11), At Sea, and (the shocker) Steel Blue.
5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not? Yes, as many as I can. I've been known to respond to some years after they were written. Comments are the lifeblood of my writing. One comment at the right time can inspire so much. Sometimes, even the completion of a lingering unfinished story...
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending? Easily, my tears ricochet (Mirandy). My wife (Lisof9) and I took a vow decades ago (pre-dating, even) that we would always write happy, hopeful endings where the couple is together.
7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? Everything else? See above. That doesn't mean there isn't angst. My wife taught me everything I know about chasing characters up burning trees and then lobbing grenades and feral raccoons at them. She also taught me about cliffhangers.
8. Do you get hate on fic? Once. A long time ago on an ER fic, of all things. I didn't write a word for two years after that.
9. Do you write smut? Yes. I'm kinda known for that. It is sometimes even requested, meaning the prompt is given to me because it requires smut.
10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written? Hmm... Not really? Let me explain. One of my SuperCat stories mentions Emily Carlton from The Devil Wears Prada, and one of my Guiding Light stories has a brief cameo from a character on Saving Grace. The only true crossover I've ever written was wacky. It was Star Trek: Voyager and CSI: Miami. Decide for yourself: Wackiness. It's short.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen? Not sure I understand the question. You mean plagiarized.? There was a rash of that happening in the early 2000s, I think, but my readers always let me know.
12. Have you ever had a fic translated? I'm not sure. Probably.
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before? Oh, absolutely! My wife should be considered my co-writer in everything because I have been known to pick her brain when I'm stuck. I've also co-written in the Guiding Light/Otalia fandom and in the L&O: SVU Casey/Olivia fandom.
14. What’s your all-time favourite ship? Oh, lord love a duck. SuperCat is certainly my once-and-future obsession. I've been writing them for over seven years at this point and, at last count, have 10 WIPs in the works for them.
My OTP Prime, though, is B'Elanna/Seven from Star Trek: Voyager because that's how I met my wife.
15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but probably won’t? Hide Beside Me (Guiding Light/Otalia) has haunted me for 15 years, but remember when I said comments were the lifeblood of writing? Someone commented on it last week which revived my interest in finishing the story. I have a draft for chapter 32 in my WIPs folder right now because of that. I hope I finally get to check that one off my to-do list.
16. What are your writing strengths? Research, capturing character personalities, dialogue, and romance.
17. What are your writing weaknesses? Fight scenes and the fact that I'm so slow as a writer.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic? Actually, I have a plan to write an Astrid/Raphaelle story in French when I feel I'm up to snuff in French again. I can't wait. I love that ship.
19. First fandom you wrote for? Ever? Buck Rogers in the 25th Century. Buck/Wilma, on my handwriting practice pad from school. I was 10. Published in a 'zine? A Star Trek: The Next Generation Worf/Deanna story. Published online? Xena, Warrior Princess.
20. Favourite fic you’ve written? Currently, there are two:
Queen of Hearts, (ST:Voy, B/7), because it was a love letter to the woman who is now my amazing wife.
One Bridge at a Time, (Supergirl, SuperCat). I'm proudest of this one because it took me seven years to write, came in at 310+k words, and I finished it. I never gave up on it. It was always in my mind. And now I'm working on a sequel to it. :)
I tag anyone who would like to answer it. Although, I would be interested in reading the answers from @shaych03 and @fewthistle if they'd like to participate.

Turns out if I search by mentions I can find it immediately! I'm so clever. (And yet. I only just went "oh hey".)
1. How many works do you have on AO3?
22! I am not as prolific as some-- a lot of these are one shots. |D And most of them are ancient.
2. What's your total AO3 word count?
475,671!
3. What fandoms do you write for?
The fandoms I write for that are published are Rurouni Kenshin, Final Fantasy VII, and TMNT '03, '07, and ROTTMNT. Unpublished I also have One Piece, Tiger & Bunny, SPN, FFXIV, annnd The Untamed, most of these just being snippets etc etc. (And then RP is another bag entirely, writing in a different format-- you can include Blade of the Immortal that way.)
4. Top five fics by kudos?
It was only recently I managed to clock the 1000 mark, and I did it on two fics at once, lmao. Uhhh--
Underdark - 1089!
No Rest For The Weary - ....1089. (You guys really are neck and neck still.)
The Zaibatsu Project - 291
Some Rest For The Weary. As A Treat. - 221
Snowblind - 174
Not altogether that bad, considering Ruroken is such a dead fandom these days. /o/
5. Do you respond to comments?
Yup. Unless someone is leaving a whole stream of one word OMG/!!!!/EEEK in which I'll probably just answer the last one they left. I did go through a very long period where I did not because I was too tired, but I started again around the 2020 mark when I actually started reading fanfiction again. And started engaging, etc etc.
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
I write angsty endings? :|a 404 File Not Found. I think the closest I got was the tiny ficlet I wrote for Ruroken which was just Kenshin being depressed in the rain after Tomoe's death, and I'm not sure that really counts. That was like three paragraphs of "well my life sucks" lmao. It never made it to AO3. (It's on ff dot net still, though.)
...OH. But I can tell you which one's going to have the angstiest ending and that's The Legacy. Which given the last chapter I had finished with Raph holding onto his dead not!girlfriend, I would assume most readers are not gonna be surprised by this fact. (File Soon* To Be Found.)
7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
Idk man I tend to angle for happy endings in general, so that is very hard to answer as it comes under YMMV - people have different views of happy endings, after all. Probably Underdark as the most distinct "Yes, everything is okay now" ending.
8. Do you get hate on fics?
Nah, not really. I did have one serial reviewer that reviewed every chapter of Tanabata Jasmine back in the day with a lot of backhanded compliments and condescending comments? And one person who started off reviewing Misconduct with "well my friend told me to read this" and two chapters later said "okay I'm bored now bye", but none of this is hate. The only actual "hate" I got given was not actually ...for me? I don't think? It was someone who literally said: Why did you delete your slave fics? BITCH!! And I'm like... I have not now nor will i ever write... one of those...? So yeah. Think they mistook me for another author or something. Maybe Kikide. EH. Not my division.
9. Do you write smut?
Nah.
10. Craziest crossover?
Zaibatsu Project is a Rurouni Kenshin/Cyberpunk 2020 crossover, so that's taking all your 19th century samurai types and ditching them wholesale into 2029 Tokyo. It's fun. Maybe one day I will even write more of it.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Outright? I don't think so. Buuut I've certainly had people ping me in the past to tell me someone's lifted a chunk of it wholesale or "they've written Snowblind, only with smut!" or there was one person who wrote a BNHA fic which followed the same plot of Underdark complete with dialogue borrowed directly from the fic. That last one I contacted the author and they apologised and offered to take the fic down and I told them they could keep it up provided they credit me for the inspiration somewhere. I'm sure by now some AI has scraped my stuff, but largely I write in fandoms that don't get lifted and sold like others do. And honestly, the above examples are more kinda flattering than anything else.
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
Yes! I believe most of my longer works have been translated into Russian, at the very least. I found Tanabata Jasmine back in the day being re-released onto a Russian forum site and I had a lot of fun translating the site to read responses (and laugh a bit at the machine translations because they kept telling me the readers were legless). Underdark has for sure. I've also found Snowblind.
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
I wrote a few pages of one with @shadowbends at one point! But we didn't get far in and we both got distracted with other projects. And I also wrote half a fic to set up the other half for an author, but she didn't end up going ahead. Alas. So.... kind of?
14. All time favourite ship?
I'm honestly not much of a shipper. I mean-- actually, I ship a lot of different pairings, but only kind of superficially for the most part? Like I really enjoy reading ships but I still vastly prefer gen. I will very rarely read an outright romance fic, there's gotta be a plot. (Or at the very least some interesting smut, god.) It's easier for me to point out ships that make me go UGH GOD NO rather than a preference. (In RP I'll ship a little more if the dynamics between our characters work out really well, but I still won't be crushed if nothing comes from it. This is a hard question for me to answer. I definitely don't have an all time favourite in this lukewarm pile of ships, that's for sure.)
15. What's a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
Any of the WIPs that I have that I never bothered publishing have been abandoned. Anything I want to finish will get finished. It will just take some time. This is assuming I have a long life; I mean, if I'm scheduled to die, say, three years from now, the only thing that might get finished is Infinite Ricochet, lmao.
16. What are your writing strengths?
Action scenes! /o/ Pacing and tension. The most common review I get is from people vibrating from delighted stress, lmao.
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
Connective tissue. I can get really bogged down in getting from A to B. You can really see it in the early days of a fic where I'm still writing set up and wondering how to scale up realistically to the things I really want to write. Once everything starts going wrong, it gets much easier, rofl.
18. Thoughts on dialogue in another language?
Depends on context. Like many I started writing fanfic at the time people tried to pepper as much Japanese into their dialogue as possible for realism or brownie points or whathaveyou - you can see that in my first fic on ff dot net lmaooo. Don't do this. Not unless you have a foreign phrase that just loses its flavour when translated through to English. Or, alternatively, when you actually have a non-English character who keeps dropping into their own language, or some try hard teenager who keeps trying to show off how much Spanish they know, as an example. There are always reasons to do so and reasons it will work. But if you're just going "LOOK AT THE WORDS I KNOW"... I recommend not doing so, you will look back years later and go "oh god".
19. First fandom you wrote in?
....look, technically the first fandom I wrote in was Inspector Gadget self insert fic. But I was nine so I feel I should not be judged. /cough
First time I sat down to write an actual story that was based off a show was for the old Defenders of the Earth cartoon while I was ...15? And then when I moved out my one sofa chair was surrounded by notepads as I wrote out my first 1987 TMNT fanfic. I didn't know it was called fanfic back then. In fact I didn't know anyone else did it at all and I was just weird. Please understand that when I got onto the web proper in the late 90s and found fanfic sites I was over the moon.
20. Favourite fic you've written?
It's gotta be Underdark. That thing is its own island by now. It's closely followed by the more recent There Is No Gravy, which much like Underdark wrote itself and also ended up far longer than I intended. It was just fun. It was a soft warm hug for the Rise fandom, okay, I love it.
Thank you! This was fun to reminisce about tbh. :D
I tag: @calliopechild, @radishhqueen, and @bobtheacorn ♥ No pressure, have at it if you like
* please note that the author's definition of soon may vary to yours. She has 13 year breaks between chapters sometimes, after all.

20 Questions for Fic Writers
I was tagged by @silvagrey! Thank you for bringing me into the game.
How many works do you have on Ao3?
Four so far! Heart and Homeland is massive and multichapter, though. Hoping to post two other fics this week—one old one for the Les Mis fandom, one new one for Young Royals fandom.
What's your total Ao3 word count?
254,916
What fandoms do you write for?
Primarily Young Royals. I do have one sort of experimental piece for a show called Merli Sapere Aude and am going to be posting an old Les Mis fic (that I’ve never put on AO3 before) for Barricade Day this Thursday.
Top five fics by kudos:
Heart and Homeland comes first, followed by Terrain Boundaries Territory. Peripeteia and Pieces That Make Up A Set are tied for six kudos.
Do you respond to comments?
Yes, absolutely! I came of age in the livejournal era when comments sections were buzzing with conversation. Please just come and chat with me on my fics, it’s so much fun.
What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
Chapter 32 of Heart and Homeland is the angstiest/most tragic ending of anything I’ve ever written and I am still proud of it. I made @heliza24 cry! But Heart and Homeland overall is going to have a happy ending, I promise.
Calculated Dust, the Les Mis fic I’m going to post, also has an anngsty ending.
What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
I initially read this question and went ??? because I wasn’t sure how to answer it. I think this question might be better answered by my readers and what they might find happy.
Do you get hate on fics?
No. I suppose I get more indifference because I tend to write less popular characters and pairings.
Do you write smut?
Yes! I’m one of those aces who enjoys writing smut. My smut is not very explicit, admittedly. But I enjoy it as a form of character study (and also it is fun and hot.)
Craziest crossover?
I’m not going to tell you because I want it to be a surprise, but there is a blink-and-you-miss-it reference to a favorite childhood book series in my current WIP. I wonder who will spot it?
Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not to my knowledge. I do not recommend stealing my fics, though.
Have you ever had a fic translated?
I haven’t yet. I suppose if I wanted to be a masochist I could translate some of my fanfiction into Latin.
Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Yes! @heliza24 and I are the dream team! The great thing about writing with a co-writer is that we try to one up one another and it means our stories are full of all kinds of twists and turns. We also sometimes record ourselves reading new chapters and send them to one another in little “audiobooks.”
All time favourite ship?
Sargust aka MY SHIP OF ALL TIME. I will write them tragically, I will write them hopefully, I will write them in the 19th century, I will write them in an AU where August is also a girl and they are sapphic. Sorry not sorry but they are… so hot together actually. (Obligatory disclaimer applies.)
What's a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
I have this unfinished series of Heartstopper vignettes where they all have to take care of “egg children” at school as a project about responsible parenting. With one exception (eggception?) people are not paired with their romantic partner as coparent.
The most important part of the fic is Darcy and Isaac deciding to protest the coparenting assignment by arguing for a better, more inclusive sex ed curriculum. They pass out a bunch of pamphlets written by one Dr. Jean Milburn. Darcy and Isaac’s chapter is told entirely as a school email chain, including some very beleaguered emails sent by Mr. Farouk.
It would be fun to finish that but I don’t know if I will because I sort of forget about Heartstopper when it’s not airing.
What are your writing strengths?
I think I have a good grasp of how to select telling details that show what’s going on in a scene. I also am very good at getting into a character’s brain/mindset and bringing the reader close to them.
What are your writing weaknesses?
Writing quickly. Knowing how to end scenes. Being concise. (I’m hoping to get into a workshop this summer that will help me with the “being concise” thing.)
Thoughts on dialogue in another language?
It’s cool? I like it? I read a lot of YA books that do that, so I’m used to reading it.
First fandom you wrote in?
If being a little kid and writing stories based on stories I like counts, probably Disney’s Robin Hood or The Wizard of Oz.
Here’s some Wizard of Oz “fanfiction” from when I was about four or five years old:
Favourite fic you've written?
Definitely Heart and Homeland, but the current one I’m working on (tentatively titled Swell the Numbers) is fixing itself in my heart too.
No pressure tags: to my roommate and bestie @coruscantrhapsody!

1. how many works do you have on AO3? 108
2. what's your total AO3 word count? 1,387,558
3. what fandoms do you write for? mostly tlk and dune, but i jotted down a few lines for a hotd fic last night
4. top five fics by kudos: my daensa season 7 au, both of my giant asoiaf fics, my one foray into the magnificent century fandom with hurrem/mahidevran smut, and a jaime/margaery oneshot
5. do you respond to comments? i try to! sometimes i just don't know what to say
6. what is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending? probably so this is christmas, but it's just super angsty overall.
7. what's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? i've written several equally happy endings, but i'll pick a random one and say pulled from a flood
8. do you get hate on fics? not often, but when i do, it's usually in the form of someone hating on a female character
9. do you write smut? i rarely write anything else
10. craziest crossover? Aethelred Lord of Mercia believing that Jungkook BTS was Princess Diana in his former life
11. have you ever had a fic stolen? i wish there was a way to make a tent of folders on your desk the way we used to do in second grade so we couldn't see each other's tests and cheat but for stealing fic. anyway yes.
12. have you ever had a fic translated? yes, i was so touched 🥹
13. have you ever co-written a fic before? yes in the sense that i wrote one chapter and my friend wrote the other
14. all time favorite ship? who can really say
15. what's a wip you want to finish but doubt you ever will? this fucking feydpaul omegaverse that has been haunting me since april
16. what are your writing strengths? dialogue and delivery
17. what are your writing weaknesses? setting. where the fuck are the characters? damned if i know!!
18. thoughts on dialogue in another language? i don't really think it's necessary unless specific words in that language are important to the plot and/or the readers are expected to know some of this language without translation. i think you can just as easily say, "the woman said something in french" or "she said something he didn't understand" and it gets the same point across.
19. first fandom you wrote in? it's been so long i can't remember if it was Lord of the Rings or the Hunchback of Notre Dame
20. favorite fic you've written? honestly it was probably Worse Loras
tagging @keefechambers, @skatingthinandice, @wildwren, @abnerkrill, @imagineagreatadventure, and @stannisfactions

fic writer meme
Thank you @smilebackwards for tagging me!
1. How many works do you have on Ao3? 33
2. What's your total Ao3 word count? 1,855,326 per my stats page - it's kind of wild!
3. What fandoms do you write for? My current two mains are Shadowhunters and Fast and Furious. I have in the past posted stories for Daredevil, Merlin, Harry Potter, Torchwood, The Defenders, Sherlock, Four Brothers and Suits. I have other fandoms I've started fics in but not finished/posted
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos? Day Forty Seven [7055] Set Free [4285] Marked in Trust [4132] Listen [3934] Four Centuries and Also Nineteen Years [3876]
5. Do you respond to comments? I respond to all comments while the story is in progress and then for probably a couple of months after it ends before I stop. Unless someone asks a specific question, then I always respond. I wish I could do all of them ever but life makes it hard.
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending? I almost answered none of them before I remembered Addicted, which is about Brian and Dom hooking up during the first movie which I mostly wrote to prove to myself I could do smut. I'm pretty sure it ends with Brian realizing Mia (who he's supposed to be maybe getting together with as per the movie) heard them do that and Dom knew she would and from there Brian understanding that they're imploding even without him and the FBI.
7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? Literally all the others, lol. I'm a happy ending girlie.
8. Do you get hate on fics? Yes, in the Shadowhunters fandom if I write Jace as a good parabatai. Occasionally for if I write Isabelle as a good sister or Clary as not a total piece of shit. Also sometimes if I write Alec in a way that suggests maybe Magnus isn't the greatest in the world who has suffered more than Alec ever will.
9. Do you write smut? Yes but I generally prefer the fade to black approach
10. Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you have written? I've never written a crossover.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen? Not that I'm aware of I don't think. I don't even know if I would want to know, like that would consume me in the worst way
12. Have you ever had a fic translated? Yes, but not as Marchling. All of the comments were telling me that the translator was changing things and it was a bad translation and the person doing it was getting really weird. It was just like a nightmare kind of so now I request no one translate my fics. I'm sure someone would do it better and I'm just being all oversensitive because I got burned once but I'd rather just not go down that road again.
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before? Yes, but also not as Marchling.
14. What's your all time favorite ship? I honestly don't think I have one, it really depends on my mood.
15. What is a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will? Oh absolutely. I have a couple of Shadowhunters stories that I doubt will ever be finished because they just don't want to be written I think. I love the ideas but the ideas don't love me
16. What are your writing strengths? I think I write dialogue well. I try to make sure that I include some sort of realistic recovery even if the story is shorter. I like to experiment with formatting to help tell the story and I think it's generally effective
17. What are your writing weaknesses? I can't write drabbles. I am not good at action scenes. I don't do enough description.
18. Thoughts of writing dialogue in another language in fics? I've been corrected in the comments more than once, lol. I like to do the dialogue in another language but write the English in italics so even if I'm wrong everyone still knows what it was meant to be.
19. First fandom you wrote for? I was like 11 or 12 and I posted my first two stories at the same time. One for a fandom I won't name because they're still out there and it's small enough you could find them and I'd rather die. The other for Angel the TV series. I got more comments on the other fandom one and so I was embarrassed that the Angel one got way less and I deleted it lmao. Did I mention I was in middle school?
20. Favorite fic you have written? I am so proud of so many of my stories but I think the Marked in Trust series is always going to be just the tiniest bit extra special in my heart.
tagging literally anyone who wants to play

so i really adore writing niche crossover and bcs i currently reading a fuckton lot of jjk fanfic on ao3 and its that time of the year when i miss reading the highlander and methos fanfic, kinda want to write an immortal ijichi kiyotaka au LMAO
look i found this one intriguing gojo x ijichi rare pair fic that i adore and will def re-read (Opposites Attract by Durendel32) and kinda like the staff and other sorcerers thought ijichi to be this average assistant manager, but gojo always has some weird feelings around ijichi, that he's different and has more depth than was shown
but because everything that happened in their high school years, gojo didn't really pay attention to other years, only when he watch how ijichi behave and thought he didn't really have potential to be a sorcerer and kinda bullied him a lot to quit
ijichi is actually one of the ancient immortal and knew methos aka the oldest immortal. he didn't really remember his original name (it's Fukurokuju, but he's more used to any variation of Kiyo) he's around since jomon period and on his third millennia (while methos is on his six), he's really the type to roll with punches and that's why as the assistant manager he's known for being unfazed by even the craziest missions and sorcerers. he learned a lot of language esp chinese-korean-japanese, and he always able to see curses (rare as they were in those eras) but didn't understand wtf is that
ijichi met methos around his seventh centuries in, he used to have an immortal teacher but she's been dead for a couple of decades. methos kinda roamed around china and they met during some battle against some people (i don't really know the history about those area LMAO) and after they found out they didn't want to take each other's head, they became fast friend (esp when ijichi didn't really judge him about being Death)
ijichi knew about jujutsu because even thought he roam around the world during his years alive, he still came back to japan from time to time, so he's actually around during heian era before and after sukuna exist. he was tengen's acquaintance and tengen's place is where he stashed some of his most precious books
fast forward to probably four hundred years before jjk canon, ijichi that was currently named Kiyoomi, fell in love and married Ijichi Naomi and took her last name. the ijichi is a minor but powerful jujutsu clan, and ijichi kiyoomi learn a lot about how to access shikigami. it was round this age he also befriend the current six eyes-limitless holder, Gojo Akira, and also found out one of gojo's step sibling, Gojo Hanami, is an immortal so he vow to be there to help her when she first die
naomi still has a child (from previous relationship) but both ijichi thought it would be better for kiyo to claime the child as his. then the ijichi clan found out about his immortality and his real name (which actually considered a deity,,, what a surprise) and sworn to always allow Kiyo to came back even if decades or centuries have passed. so now ijichi has a place and clan to came back to
fast forward to probably ten years before jjk canon, ijichi and methos roam around africa and ijichi was cursed by one of the curse user there, and then he was aged back to around six yo even tho his body was 31 (the age when he first die), so bcs of this he decided to come back to japan and being adopted by the ijichi clan, and claim the name Ijichi Kiyotaka

20 questions for fic writers
tagged by @landwriter <3 thank you, gloam!
How many works do you have on Ao3?
14! (yes, only 14)
What's your total Ao3 word count?
14,842
What fandoms do you write for?
so far, it's been the sandman, good omens, and merlin - though i don't have any published (or finished...) merlin fics. i also just finished dead boy detectives, which may result in a bit of fic - we'll see!
Top five fics by kudos:
just pull on your hair, just pull on your pout - shameless excuse to make dream & hob make out in the cold like teenagers, inspired by the cure & a beautiful fanart of professor hob by @pomegranateruin!
eternity is in us now - dreamling proposal fic <3
if the walls were too thin, you would break right in - this was the first dreamling fic i wrote! :D
while the little moments dream - the one where dream offers hob godhood at the end of the world. soft <3
we are the cosmos fleeing the night - i think this was my second dreamling ficlet? dreamling FWB but make it still romantic
Do you respond to comments?
i'll be honest, i'm pretty bad about responding to comments - NOT because i don't appreciate them! i love each comment i receive dearly and they all mean the world to me. but being less generally flustered and knowing what to say in response to comments is something i'm working on. <3
What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
maybe this one? all night or a hundred years is my take on the wine-sharing scene from season of mists. so you know, angst comes with the territory but that one hurts me particularly badly, so it probably fits the bill.
What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
it's DEFINITELY this one, which has no name and which i should probably crosspost to Ao3 at some point, but it's basically dreamling being sappy and getting married. that's it, that's the plot
Do you get hate on fics?
thankfully i never have!
Do you write smut?
i write... smut-adjacent? i don't think i've ever written like, a pure PWP before or anything i would say rates as explicit. it's just something i've never tried and feel kind of intimidated by tbh, though i'm sure it would be fine if i ever do get around to it! if anyone wants to cheerlead me through my first smut fic i am game, lmao (is there ghost detective smut on my horizon???? IS THERE??? listen. it's not an impossibility is all i'm saying)
Craziest crossover:
i am not sure i've actually written a crossover, but i just finished dead boy detectives and i have many crossover thoughts! oh, also sandman/the old guard, of course. though that's not so much crazy as reasonable, i think
Have you ever had a fic stolen?
not to my knowledge!
Have you ever had a fic translated?
i don't believe so, but i would be honored!
Have you ever co-written a fic before?
never, but it sounds fun!
All time favourite ship?
well, i'm a multishipper, so this one's hard - i can list my OTPs per fandom... the sandman - dreamling, gaulcienne, hob/destruction (honestly hob/all the endless thanks to @softest-punk but i particularly love how you write hob/desire) doctor who - tenrose / doctor/rose & thoschei my beloveds (particular shoutout to twelve/missy, no one's doing it like them) bbc merlin - merthur, merwaine, mergwenthur dbda - obviously edwin/charles [and edwin&charles of course\ (whatever their ship name is I REFUSE TO CALL IT CHEDWIN... PLEASE... SAVE ME...). but i was absolutely also rooting for crystal/niko in addition to that...
What's a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
oh my god i have so many. SO MANY. TOO MANY. i really want to finish the dreamling fealty fic one day because i literally have 2k+ words for it already sitting in my drafts, but i have no idea if i will. also it would be nice to finish ANY merlin WIP sometime this century. i am also debating if i want to start any dbda WIPs but they are... percolating still
What are your writing strengths?
i would say conveying atmosphere in a small number of words, if i had to say something!
What are your writing weaknesses?
FINISHING THINGS! god, and i'm terrible at turning fic ideas into actual writing. the ideas form faster than i can even write them down, but writing the ideas instead of having them play out cool music video-style in my head is SO HARD! also longfic is my kryptonite, i have no idea how authors do it!!!
Thoughts on dialogue in another language?
i think it can work, but if it's in a language i understand i find myself focused on if the grammar is correct and such. russian usually... has not been (stevebucky fandom i'm looking at u)...
First fandom you wrote in?
harry potter ages and ages ago was my first fandom, but i don't recall if i ever had any actual proper finished fics that i posted anywhere, until sandman fandom. i wouldn't say i considered myself a "proper" fic writer until dreamling actually
Favourite fic you've written?
hard to say - i like them all for different reasons but i'm proud of the opposite of blindness !
tagging whoever wants to do it as i'm sure most of my mutuals have already done this! <3
