Paper Mario's first companion/partner on his bizarre new journey: Newt!

Newt is a unique little Crazee Dayzee. On his way to a concert to see his favorite singer, he runs into Mario, who decides to tag along. Unfortunately, something BIG happens and sends the two off on a wild new adventure to save the world and the people within it! Traveling across various domains in this new land filled with toys, food, bones, sand, and more!

Newt uses his trusty cellphone to inform Mario about any enemies or npc's they encounter, always keeping up to date within the online spaces to know more! Also, he's great for getting helpful little tips if ever lost or confused on where next to go or what to do.

Quite menacing stuff for such a cute enemy (although I do remember the Sleep status could be extremely annoying).

In the original version of Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, unused text for a Glitz Pit competitor can be found that reads "Now I'll give you some nightmares..." and "How was that for you? Pretty sweet dreams, huh?"

While the identity of the competitor is unknown as nothing except the dialogue remains in the files, it is assumed by dataminers that it was likely a Crazee Dayzee or Amazy Dayzee as those are the only regular enemies that can inflict the Sleep status and are as such the only ones for whom it would make sense to talk about dreams and nightmares.

The text has been expunged from the Nintendo Switch version.

In my 7-Part Mario Fanfic, we have the Heroes of Sarasaland & Knuckles… whoops, I meant & Luigi.

These are the names of the characters, going from left to right, Papa, Lina, Luigi, Lillian, Daisy, Imajin & Mama. Every character mentioned except Luigi are the Heroes of Sarasaland. I have nothing personal against Luigi or anything, the reason Luigi is excluded is because he is already an official great hero of the Mushroom Kingdom. (Luigi is just there as a visitor to the Sarasaland Heroes, due to Luigi's boyfriend-girlfriend relations with Daisy. Luigi also has gotten along well with Doki Family too.)

In my fan-canon, Daisy as Princess of Sarasaland has her own team of heroes that she assigns to protect the 4 Original Kingdoms of Sarasaland (Birabuto, Muda, Easton & Chai), as well as the newer autonomous region called "Shytopia" that has ties with Sarasaland, which is ruled by General Guy (from Paper Mario 64) and the Shy Guys. The team being Doki Family, Imajin, Lina, Mama & Papa, the civilians of Sarasaland see the family of 4 as great heroes, (similar to how the civilians of the Mushroom Kingdom see Mario & Luigi).Daisy has an aide to accompany her from time to time named "Lillian" who is the small crazee dayzee creature in the middle of the picture.

Even though Daisy may leave it up to the Doki family to save the day in her Kingdom, Daisy occasionally joins the Doki family on their adventures as their ally and friend whenever she does not have her monarch responsibilities. Daisy loves to travel and see her vast 4 Kingdoms and fight off threats and villains with the family. Whenever Luigi is around to visit Daisy, he may get pulled into the heroic adventures with Daisy and the Doki family, (Luigi is often reluctant to join due to how the adventures can sometimes become scary to him).

Lastly, Daisy and the Doki Family may be passionate to protect the 4 Original Kingdoms of Sarasaland (Birabuto, Muda, Easton & Chai), but they are less enthusiastic to protect the autonomous region of Shytopia. Daisy may allow Shytopia to be a part of Sarasaland for treaty and trade reasons, but she and General Guy do not see eye to eye. Daisy knows that General Guy and Shytopian authorities are allies with Bowser and the Koopa Kingdom and detests them for this. The Doki Famliy has had a negative history with shy guys and hold bitter feelings towards them. Despite this, the Doki Family including Daisy know that not all shy guys are evil or are in league with the Koopa Kingdom and thus do their duty to protect Shytopians as well.

Daisy, Luigi, Imajin, Lina, Mama & Papa are not my characters, (Lillian is partly an original character). Daisy & Luigi are the intellectual properties of Nintendo, Imajin, Lina, Mama & Papa are the intellectual properties of Fuji TV Network.

Here is the official reference sheet for Floriaselle! I did say that she was practically 100% complete, didn't I? Here's a fun little bit of trivia for you all: Floriaselle is inspired by my love of the Mario series. You can tell chiefly by the way she has buttoned shortalls, similar to Mario's overalls, but she also has similar eyes to Princess Daisy, leafy arms like Petey Piranha, and the booties were inspired by Yoshi. And of course, it has to be said, but Crazee Dayzees also played a part as inspiration for her, especially early on when the character was in its nascent forms during 2014-2015. Beyond that though, I just have a burning passion for flowers in general, and flower characters as well. It saddens me that there's very few flower characters in pop culture media, and the only ones that seem to make the rounds on the Internet are the Plants vs. Zombies flowers (Including most of all Solar Flare). I'll elucidate my history behind why I'm so fond of flowers in a future post, so look out for that one. Of course, Floriaselle is no plumber, but that's just the attire she happens to wear. It just happens to be a hand-me-down from her guardian that is also her favorite and most worn clothing. The shortalls' color used to be aqua green, then blue, then finally a dark purple. I didn't want to use the cliché color of blue, because that's what most people would use. It combos well with the purple lavender of her petals, and I didn't want her to be seen as a "farm girl". Floriaselle is actually something of a mall rat, and hangs around a big town as well. The brown undershirt is meant to match her dirt-stained feet and her pupils and freckles, as well as to contrast the purple with something more humble. She was born from humble origins, yet she is surrounded by decadence, and quite possibly a noble lineage as well...? Oh yeah, I also did forget to mention this, but I created Floriaselle on March 5th, 2014! So I guess that would be her birthday, technically speaking. Her prototype design dates even further back to 2008, when she was known only as "Lavender". This finalized reference sheet was started in 2021, but it was only recently completed in 2024. I will also post the very first prototype of Floriaselle just for funsies as well very soon. My hope is that I can draw her and the Flower Folly characters more often now in the near future, now that I have the design finalized AND with a reference sheet included. Good things lie ahead!

Dinosaur Land Location Part 2

So in the previous post I suggested Dinosaur Land and by extension Yoshi's Island was part of the Cascade Kingdom. However, it might actually be part of the Mushroom Kingdom.

So the SMRPG and M&LPIT maps place Yoshi's Island close to the Mushroom Kingdom. While they are composite maps that don't have things in their right placements, it is interesting that both place it not too far way. Someone might suggest the SMB4SMW manual doesn't say it's part of the Mushroom Kingdom, at the same time it doesn't say it isn't part of the Mushroom Kingdom.

Speaking of SMRPG, you can find a place called the Pipe Vault that leads to an underground location leading to Yoshi's Island. But since you get here via Pipe it could be argued you Warp here, so we need something more concrete.

So in the game Mario & Wario a good proportion of the places take place in Yoshi's Island due to the following info. Yosu Ko aka Yoshi Lake is rumored to be the place where Yoshis are born/hatch. This would place it near the location we see in SMRPG Yoshi's Island. Kumotori Yama aka Cloud-Catching Mountain has Super Koopas flying around. Kōri no Dōkutsu aka Ice Cavern has Rexs frozen in ice. Honō no Dōkutsu aka Flame Cavern had SMB4SMW Blaargs. And Pukupuku Kai aka Cheep Cheep Sea has Blurps. All of these are enemies from Dinosaur Land, and are connected to Yoshi's Island. Plus Yoshis are present of course.

Now why is this important? Well the level Barūn Burijji aka Balloon Bridge bridges Dinosaur to Karakara Sabaku aka Dry Dry Desert which is East of the Grasslands. This would mean Dinosaur Land is not part of the Cascade Kingdom but part of the Mushroom Kingdom, particularly in the inland sea to the South of the Grasslands/Desert Land. This would also mean the name of this sea is Cheep Cheep Sea. This would also explain why Yoshies once had range in the Mushroom Kingdom, and some exist on places like Lavalava Island. This also explains species such as Ravens, Crazee Dayzees, Bumpties, and Rexs existing the Mushroom Kingdom and even the Beanbean Kingdom. This also explains the stork passing over Yoshi's Island several times in the Yoshi's Island Games, and why Baby Bowser so easily got to Yoshi's Island in M&LPIT.

Now as for Yoshi's Island, people question if there is 2 Yoshi's Islands or if Yoshi's Island eroded over time. I don't think this is the case, I think what is going on here is we are only seeing what is relevant in Dinosaur Land's levels of Yoshi's Island, and it's actually much bigger. Similar to how we only see portions of Yoshi's Island in SMRPG and M&LPIT. It is also the same Island due to the presence of Yoshi's House in SM2YI.
