When snakes, insects and spiders signify fear it makes me so annoyed.

What if when making a "fear monster" for you fantasy or sci fi story you didn't base it on a spider, snake, insect, or a slug?

So many creepy things in nature, I'm sick of spider monsters with "glossy chitinous legs" snake-like monsters that "slither sinisterly."

Cut it out.

Base your scary creature on a chinchilla, a capybara, an orchid, a dove, a human.

Leave the arthropods, snakes and invertebrates out of it.

Or if you MUST do an insect do butterflies. THEY can't be trusted.

I feel like a lot of people these days need to be reminded that sex is a privilege and not a right.

I should probably preface this by saying that masturbation is a human right, obviously. I mean, we all have the right to orgasm. But the act of sex itself, with other people, is ultimately a privilege.

Which is why I get super angry when I see these creeps on Hinge saying things like "your body my choice" and disregarding the fact that people might not want to sleep with them. Bunch of incels....

The unease that Amon evokes in the story's background is equivalent to the feeling you get when you're standing on the ground floor inside of a brightly lit room at night. There's windows with screens on them, hoping to keep bugs out, and it's pitch black outside and you can't see what's outside. Anyone can be out there watching you, deep in the darkness. And you know that there's one particular bug stalking you and you know it's no ordinary bug.
