What is crane pendant switch and how does it work?
Crane pendant switch:
For lifting and lowering heavy objects a crane is used. The cranes are mostly used for industrial purposes. To move and manage the overhead crane a crane pendant is used. It is a part of the overhead crane used for the hoist. And it is the important part of the crane called a crane control unit or crane pendant station. 
If any mistakes or bugs are found in the crane control unit then the crane inspector checks it first. The crane pendant switch has a wired connection that is connected to the hoist. And the cable wire is suspended from the hoist and swings like a pendant. The long cable wire is called a crane pendant cable.
The crane pendant push button, can move the crane in long travel, cross travel, and for a hoist.
 Working procedure of crane pendant push button switch:
The pendant push button fully worked on the wired connection and they don't need a charging system or battery replacement service. It takes the same electric energy as the overhead crane gets. There are many push buttons present on the crane pendant and each button has different command.
The crane pendant has interlocked feature in pair of buttons. This means that two parallel buttons cannot be pressed at the same time. If a down button is pressed at that time up button cannot be used until it reaches the down destination. The pendant push button control have buttons like forward, backward, up, down, start, stop, left, and right.
To manage the overhead crane or hoist two operators are needed sometimes. The first operator monitors the movement and follows the signal by sitting in the cabin of the overhead crane. And the other operator control and gives the signal to another operator from the ground floor. 
The ground man operator holds the handheld crane pendant and when the crane moves in the forward direction and crosses the line at that time the operator also has walked along with the crane because of wired connectivity.  
 Superiority and drawback of pendant switch for hoist and EOT crane:
 Advantages:
First of all the pendant switch for hoist has a wired connection which means all the transmission takes place through the wired only. Because of this, it provides fast and secure transmission as compared to the wireless remote control. The crane pendant is connected with many internal wired routes. 
And hence if any problem occurs or any defects are found in the routes then it suddenly switches to another route so that transmission can continue. While if the same problem happens with the wireless remote control at that time the transmitter stops them working immediately.
Another thing is that it has a wired connection so it doesn't require a battery or charging facility.
 Disadvantages:
The main drawback of the crane pendant is that the operator has to go inside the cabin of the overhead crane which is very risky. The accidental heavy load drop can cause the operator's life in danger. Another problem is that the operator also has to walk along with the overhead crane when the crane passes the line in a forward or backward direction.
At this time the operator keeps his eye on the crane and he may be messed up with the obstacles and the operator may fall, slip or trip at that location which is also very risky.

The crane pendant station is an important part of the EOT crane because all the control takes place from this place.
