Ahoy mateys! Just conquered the high seas and completed this epic Flying Dutchman 3D wooden puzzle! This intricate pirate ship was a true test of patience (and rum-drinking skills ) but the final result is a treasure to behold.

Kathrin Marchenko - Embroidery Artist

Kathrin Marchenko, from Lozivskyi, Ukraine, is an embroidery artist who uses ropes, threads, and laces to create incredible works of art. Marchenko creates three-dimensional embroideries on frames and walls depicting animals, portraits, and anatomical parts of the body such as eyes and hands.

The artist does not use preparatory drawings but relies on the inspiration and creativity of the moment. "Embroidery is a meditative process that helps me calm down and gather all my thoughts," stated Marchenko, who uses various materials in her works, including multiple types of threads, fabrics, needles, hoops, beads, ceramic pieces, and other objects inspired by the moment.

The artist also organizes online courses in meditative embroidery using modern embroidery stitches to develop creative skills. "The art of embroidery is not easy, but once you get used to improvising with threads and matching their color shades, you can create anything in just a few steps," the artist states on her official website. The purpose of meditative embroidery is to broaden horizons and see embroidery from a new perspective.

The courses are accessible to both experienced embroidery professionals and beginners who want to develop their creative skills by creating impressive works with low-cost materials.

It's that time of the year again where I look back on everything I crocheted over the past year. Looks like this was the year of the hanging plants! There were a handful of crochet things that I didn't have time to photograph bc they had sold immediately during the many markets I participated in this year, including some donut coasters, strawberry charms (final photo taken by @its.greychen !), and a variety of other plants. Thank you to everyone who bought one of these from me!! You've truly helped me embrace my love for botany, despite me having a black thumb lol. My high school self (half of my lifetime ago!?) would be so proud to hear that I'm still crocheting into adulthood. Here's to more projects in the new year!

[SHAPE OF TENDO] I collaborated with Tendo Mokko @tendo_mokko to create an original piece of furniture.

Furniture to create a space where my cat Lyon and I can both feel comfortable. That was my theme this time.

I chose oak, which is my name, as the material, and used rattan, which has a calming, yet light and airy feel. I actually discussed with the craftsmen at the factory how to stretch it, and we got a beautiful finish. By incorporating the beauty of molded plywood, I was able to create my ideal side table.

When I delivered the finished product to Lyon, he loved it 🤍 Perfect size ✨ I'm also grateful to Takayuki Matsuhashi @takayuki_matsuhashi, who created it while talking about my ideal and imagining a lot about Lyon, such as the specific size and detailed specifications.
