the post going around abt seeking an autism diagnosis being something to seriously consider if youre trans is good but it doesn’t go far enough imo. be wary of seeking ANY officially documented diagnosis unless you have a specific thing you need that’s diagnosis-gated (medication being the most common, and why autism is a good example of things it’s often not worth seeking a diagnosis for if you don’t already have one, since there’s no standard diagnosis-gated medication) and even then be aware of the ways that the diagnosis you’re seeking can be used against you—whether that’s denying you an organ transplant or a visa or whether it might have more subtle effects (making doctors less likely to listen to you about other conditions/symptoms, making them more likely to call the cops on you, etc)
and of course b aware that like. not everyone Can avoid diagnosis. even if they’re actively denying it and trying to avoid it, even if they’re harmed by it. esp with something like autism that lots lots lots of ppl are diagnosed with as toddlers. and it is also very very common for diagnosis to hurt people in some ways and still be worth it bc they need supports that are harder or impossible without it. in fact this is the default for most things bc we live in an ableist society. “don’t get diagnosed” not a feasible solution for everyone having ableism problems just like “move to a different state/country” not a feasible solution for everyone having problems with their government. yes staying has downsides, but ppl have reasons to stay too, and there are lots of minors who are legally Not Allowed to choose for themselves either way.
(and on the flip side there IS problems w medical neglect also, ppl not getting diagnosed & being cut off from medical care who need it badly, eg poor and/or rural areas, certain cults and abusive living situations, etc. lack of diagnosis not pure privilege either. but this is not solved by pretending diagnosis has no downsides. & in a social environment where there is a lot of that it is a breath of fresh air to see posts going “if you get a dx you will face a lot of medical ableism, are you sure it’s worth it”)

That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Crab
When I die I wanna be resurrected as the crab in the bucket of crabs that pulls the other crabs back into the bucket. And I'll love doing it

The "crabs in a bucket" mentality in the comments section. Good lord.
You guys want rich? Cool. As according to a quick Google search, a Yahoo Finance article from July 2024 that I found says that the IRS sets that bar at $540,009 per year. The Economic Policy Institute says it's $335,891 for the top 5%, $819,324 for the top 1%. Again, this is per year.
That $65,000 per year in the poll? You'd need to be bringing that home *per month*. And even then you still wouldn't be hitting the EPI's top 1%. They're taking home $68,277 a month.
Median household income in the US is $75,000/year give or take a little bit. And that doesn't even land those households in the top 20% or earners. They'd still need to be taking home double that.
So... yeah. To quote user biglawbear:
"Your enemy isn't the person makes $65,000, or even some doctor or lawyer making $165,000. It's the people making billions off of everyone else's labor.
You can't eat the rich if you think every single person making more money than you is rich."
We ask your questions so you don’t have to! Submit your questions to have them posted anonymously as polls.

Some girl I haven't talked to in years is mad I am receiving so much funding for college, apparently. It was brought to my attention she even wrote a tweet about how it's hard to be happy for me. She also got salty when I was able to be in the little fashion show one winter.
I met her at the Life Healing Center in Santa Fe. (Speaking of that place, I am glad they shut down. Haha.)
I don't know why she can't stand to see me have anything. It's like my mere existence triggers her. I don't even know how to feel about it. I'll probably show her tweets to my new therapist and we can laugh, I guess.
Yes, I already got connected with new help. My intake is Wednesday afternoon. I hope my flu goes away so I can walk there. Otherwise, I may have to request Telehealth.

Overcoming the obstacles to rejoicing
Compassion and rejoicing can cover every variety of human experience. There is always something we can be doing. If others are suffering, we can develop compassion. If they’re doing well, we can rejoice, or feel joy, for them. Continuing on the subject of rejoicing. Practicing rejoicing is simple (if not always easy) — it’s learning to feel happy when things go well for others or we see them…

Your joy front is falsity & mimicry, false peace where there is no justice - cowardice, not Godly Strength.
Quit pretending to give a shit about others.
