~ CR catch-up update ~
so much so I'll just kind of go in order. first things first, is it really pronounced gaysh? because if so I was not aware of that. I can't believe they lost Zathuda because they were staging a stupid play. peak D&D. love that with the return of Sam comes the return of the stupid t-shirts.
!!!BRAIUS FUCKS NANA MORRI!!! Sam Riegel you are so back.
and last but not least, let me live out my pet dragon fantasy vicariously through Fearne Matthew Mercer! sad gloamglut = sad me.
108/116 (for the next 7.5 hours before the new ep drops, rip)
"sorry, I've been watching a lot of chimp stuff."

Wouldn't it be funny if Asmodeus isn't the Arch Heart's collaborator and Braius just spilled the beans on their secret plan to undermine their Prime siblings to the King of the Hells?
I'm sure Asmodeus would NEVER use such knowledge to sow immeasurable discord between the Primes as they realize one (or more) of them is actively betraying their agreed upon plans.
I mean, that would make them ALL a bit paranoid and perhaps a bit... trigger happy in regards to kicking off the Calamity 2.0
I mean, why would Asmodeus EVER want to cause the deaths of so many mortals again? Last time was only 75% of the world's population when they were united and somewhat using restraint. This time would TOTALLY be different, I'm sure.
They're still in the Feywild of course, outside of the Divine Gate that hinders the gods powers on the Material Plane of Exandria. And, as we just saw, even in Nana's fane, they're easily reached by the gods. I'm sure Braius won't wake up with a funky colored eye and facial marking while seeming just a bit less charismatic than usual.
The Arch Heart is just the deity of arcane magic and THE FEY... it's not like his curses would potentially be magnified on this plane, right?
I'm sure this is all FINE! Absolutely nothing to worry about...

"your gut does not cut it" fucking thank you, orym. just because the arch heart was honest does not mean they're right and maybe we should talk to any other gods who apparently want to talk to you before we lean into what a bored god is kicking around.

I feel like Braius' contact from Asmodeus kinda closes the book on whether letting Predathos out is a good idea or not.
The other gods might run. If they do, Predathos will follow. That's what the Tree of Atrophy said, that's what the Arch Heart says, it's what Ashton and Dorian want, and the others are questioning.
Asmodeus intends to stay.
And he was a big question mark before. The idea has been suggested that, in letting Predathos out, and forcing the gods to flee, Asmodeus would be getting what he wanted: His family back, and mortals abandoned. Surely, the Betrayers would happily abandon Exandria with the rest of the family.
Except no. It looks like his hatred for mortals is stronger than his love for his family, which... well, we kinda guessed that after Calamity and Downfall. He's going to hide away in his Hell, and when Predathos has chased everyone else away, with no Gate to protect the world from them, he will be the only one left, safe to emerge as the one true god of Exandria.
Fairly obviously, that's really, really bad.

"They carve a hole in you. They just dig. They leave this pit, and you spend years wandering below in the dark, looking for them, searching for any sign of them. If you're lucky, you eventually figure out they're not down there, they're the ones who threw you in in the first place. I'm very sorry."
- Ashton, the Abandoned Child of the Hishari, to Lady Fearne Calloway as they look at the tapestry of Sorrowlord Zathuda, episode 108

as an aside, every bit of information i get about the most recent cr episode from my dash is equal parts concerning, hilarious, and beautifully on brand for what i remember of bell's hells. it gives me comfort. i say this sincerely. as long as im out of the loop. and even beyond that. i never want that to change.

Genuinely this is such a funny way for Zathuda to go. Bell's Hells could have killed him in the first battle - which he was also on the cusp of escaping from - and they didn't. Instead he had to watch them perform a horrifically bad Shakespeare In The Park with a Ludinus impersonator, try to escape a second time, and then they kill him and it's mostly by accident.
