Does anyone else ever have this vivid feeling of disconnection from nature? Like this sort of realization of how far you really are? I had one of those moments in an ikea store sitting on one of the couches and everything around me feeling so… artificial, and fake. I love comfy sweaters and electric water kettles and the entire concept of the internet but I would give anything to trade my humanity for a coat of fur, a running creek, and the songs of birds.

As a therian with a commonly hunted theriotype, I don’t see many alterhumans talking about how hard it can be to find pictures\videos of your theriotype\kintype\linktype\ect. without seeing dead animal photos.

I might just be overly sensitive, but I just want to see pictures of black coyotes without seeing a dead one as one of the first results. I know there’s not much I can do about it but still, it sucks :(

howdy!

I identify as a borzoi and coyote therian, I have a very long and narrow phantom snout and my behavior kind of aligns with both of them.

I also identify as husky copinglink and opossum hearted. The difference here for me is that I just simply love huskies, I've gone back and forth about them being a theriotype of mine, but they aren't, I'm just kinda jealous of their cool coats haha and ability to easily play in the snow when I'm more of a leaping in the mountains, hills, and grasslands kind of dog. But I love 'em. And then some of my behavior is aligned with opossums, and sometimes I wish I had a opossum tail, but it's less intense as my feelings of a phantom borzoi-like snout. I am definitely a canine/mammal. At the end of the day my categorization of opossums is based on a gut feeling.

I also usually just use the word "therian" or "canine therian" when describing myself anyways.

I have a question that goes with some personal research and questioning of mine that I'd really love for as many as possible to answer.

If you're otherhearted, as in deeply connected to a species of animal, beyond simply it being one of your favorites, one that you feel is so integral to you that it's about as close to a theriotype in importance as it gets without being an actual identity, how did you figure out the difference between it and your actual theriotype(s)?

Similarly, if you have struggled with there being two similar species/breeds/etc., you share traits with both, but know that only one is a theriotype, how did you figure out which one it is? Did it come down to tallying up behaviors, drawing yourself and going with the closer one appearance-wise, gut feeling, simply having more days feeling like one than the other?
