I am not great at doing these! I don’t think I took a screenshot for January 2024. But this is February 2024: two scarves, a cowl, and a hoodie cape thing.
For March, I may try to market things a little more aggressively at the start of the month and see how that works out; I don’t think I do this usually (I feel like I usually take a couple of days to get over how noisy and attention-seeking I was the month before, and this is possibly not the most productive way to do things), so there’s that as well! The details of what I’m trying for the moment are in my Ravelry portfolio’s description.

Another beautiful husband fact because I'm very sick and become very sappy when I'm very sick: I've got the opposite of the boyfriend sweater problem. He appreciates them TOO MUCH. I have had to stop knitting him hats because instead of picking which hat he wants to wear he has a habit of wearing them all at once. They're wool and I'm scared I'm gonna cook his brain if I give him more than the three he has.

on that note and also, if i had a nickel for every time i found a pretty merino wool sweater that would have been excellent were it not a cowl neck sweater, i would have two nickels

I wanna deal with current life stress by going to a craft store and buying all the fun yarn. Do I already have lots of yarn I need to get around to using for something? Yes. Shut up.

Hiiiii! I'm making myself a scarf for next winter. How would ramattra, hanzo, and venture feel about getting a hand crocheted scarf in their favorite colors/a special pattern! (I know omnics wouldn't need scarves, but it's the thought that counts 😭)
(Also the one I'm making is the carpet pattern from The Shining, I'm absolutely bragging because I'm very proud of it)
AWH ABSOLUTELY!
(and you better show it at when it's done)
Tumblr media
RAMATTRA
He needed a new cowl as the old one was tattered and torn.
Seeing you making your own scarf, he asked if you could make him one.
You, of course, obliged without any hesitation.
He sat with you for the first hour or so as you started, listening to the mindless mumbles that escaped your lips.
It was similar to meditation, he thought.
He didn't mind the click clacking of the needles, and the determination was evident in your eyes.
Ramattra would sit by you most days, others he would leave you alone to do it.
When you finally present it to him, holding out the bundle of yarn, he almost hesitated taking it.
It was a gift, he wanted to be cautious.
When he unfolds it, the yellow pattern among the purple makes his systems heat up.
He loves it already.
It is soft and as he puts it around his neck, the fibres tickle his neck slightly.
His chassis hums in contentment as he thanks you, a tilt of his head to show his happiness.
Ramattra knew he'd be wearing it until he needed a new one.
Tumblr media
HANZO
Winter was always cold in Hanamura.
No matter what the archer would wear, he'd still find himself shivering.
When he found out that you could make scarves, he sheepishly asked if you would make him one, should you have the time.
The way he asked made you smile and agree to his request.
He didn't see much of you after that as you hid away from him.
You made sure to make it a navy colour, gold as accents.
It would suit him no matter what he wore and would for sure keep him warm.
When you appeared a week or so later, having worked on it non stop, you presented it to him with a small bow.
He stares at you for a moment before it hits him that he asked you to do this.
He takes it from you, letting it unravel.
A satisfied hum escaped him as he thumbs the material, fingers tracing the golden coloured accents.
He mutters a shy thank you but doesn't wear it then and there.
The next time you see the archer in his suit and coat, the scarf was wrapped around his neck, keeping him snug and warm.
Tumblr media
VENTURE
Their last scarf got lost on their last expedition.
When they saw the one you had wrapped around your neck, they immediately asked where you got it.
After you mention that you made it yourself, Sloan then proceeded to ask if you would make them one.
You nodded, saying it would be done before they went on their next adventure.
You got to work instantly, sitting down on the sofa with the yarn by your side.
They sat next to you for a little while, legs kicking as they excitedly watched.
A few days passed before you finally gave it to Sloan, a shy look on your face.
Their hands reach out and take it, smushing it against their face as they sigh into the softness.
As they wrap it around their neck, they notice the word VENTURE inscribed into both ends.
They hold back some tears as they give you a goofy smile before hugging you tightly.
From then on, it became a treasured item, always with them and they would always panic if they misplace it.

Whats the ventilation and heat like in the suit head? I can't tell if it would be warmer or more cool to wear in compaison to a faux fur fursuit head. The only thing I worry abt is how durable needlefelting is and if it can be cleaned like a traditional fursuit head. That being said I really hope you continue making these, they're cool as hell 👍🔥👍
Okay first of all I'm super jazzed to be able to talk about this with people, and I kind of went overboard answering this, but thanks for asking! Putting this up in case anyone else is curious.
The main answers to your questions are 1: wool is cooler than acrylic fur and less stinky
2: A fursuit head is a swamp and i am snorkling in it.
Tumblr media
I mentioned this in my behind the scenes post and there are pictures there but I literally just made a snorkel out of a snorkel mouthpiece and two collapsible automotive funnels, the kind that you can bend into a shape so that you can get goo into a weird part of your car.
that snorkel piece goes straight out of a vent hole in the inside of the ear and I felted a pink skin flap in front of it and then felted white fiber into that so it just looked like a tuft. it worked perfectly, it's just that I couldn't talk in it that well. But I'm definitely going to keep using it if I can't think of a better mouthpiece for it because as SOON as I breathed inside the head instead of through the snorkel I was like oh my god everyone is living in hell.
You can see it in this picture a little bit. nobody noticed it at all!
Tumblr media
My friend had made a much more traditional head with a bigass electric fan in it and he was having more heat issues than I was, because I cannot stress enough that acrylic fur is like, one of the most horrifically hot fabrics you can wear. I don't know how everybody is even alive!! and there's a layer of ACRYLIC BACKING on it! Also check out how "short-pile" my fur is, most of the head is only an inch thick, it's a half-inch bucket head made out of foam covered in maybe 1/3 of an inch of wool? the less space you have between the fibers the less heat gets trapped. I was shocked by how comfortable I was, and I was having migraine symptoms that day and was extra sensitive to heat. The con where we were had the air turned down and it was chilly outside, but I was shocked when I took the head off and shook my hair out and I wasn't even sweating. I had long hair in a wig cap under that thing and I wasn't sweating. It was crazy.
As for cleaning the wool, I cannot find anyone else who has done this who has cleaning tips for me, but the foam is what I'm worried about. After a few hours of wear there's nothing wrong with the wool at all, but i can TELL the foam is ever so slightly nasty, because the foam is polyurethane and wool is what you make hiking socks out of. I have some wool cleaner coming in the mail that's made for delicate needlefelted items like scarves and deposits lanolin, which is what keeps wool "alive" kind of like how you have to care for leather. It's definitely an experiment! Nothing ventured nothing gained!
I don't have an idea in mind for a second head right now and the next thing I want to make is a cowl so I can wear lower-cut tops with this head, but I might try something else if I think of an idea! I'm probably never gonna sell these because I'm weird about selling sculptures for whatever reason. They're like my living beasts.
But I definitely hope this encourages other people who might be interested in bringing needlefelt or other fiber art sensibilities to this space, that would be a massive complement and a high honor to give people a new way to enjoy a hobby that I know means a ton to a lot of people.

I finished the advent fiber. It’s all spun, washed, and measured (approximately). Although I have a couple projects to finish before I start using this new yarn, I’ve been considering mittens, hats, scarves, socks, cowls, fingerless mitts, shawls, bags, toys, and more.
Tumblr media
If you got to choose one of the yarns, which would you choose, and what would you want made from it?

Morrigan-inspired scarf!
(Image description in alt) I wanted to capture the asymmetrical nature of her skirt and shoulder adornments, as well as a sprinkling of sparkly things (as any good corvid should have). It is based very loosely on this scarf pattern and the falling leaves motif contained therein (they reminded me of feathers).
This is a crocheted cowl-style infinity scarf made with acrylic yarn and glass, tiger's-eye, and jet beads. I didn't measure it before I put it away, but I have to take my glasses off to pull it over my head if that helps.
The Leliana scarf is about 2/3 of the way done, just waiting on the right shade of purple yarn. Other than that, I think the next one will be a Warden scarf c:

I saw something and now I'm having thoughts...
So those of you in the crochet world will know that the Matrixx Hood pattern became very popular! Well I saw someone, somewhere, who had added a small reflective yarn into their piece that you couldn't even see until it was dark and a light was reflecting on it (if someone finds that person please let me know, I'm kicking myself for not saving that video!) What if there was a yarn similar to that reflective yarn but was cctv disruptive? What if you could knit or crochet camera disruption into your clothes, hats, scarves, cowls? I'm trying to find out if there is a yarn like that out there but no joy.
OBVIOUSLY I am thinking of this purely from the pov of a person who reads a lot of dystopian books and so would be interested in how this would change the wardrobes of the characters, as well as introducing more fiber artists into the stories.... obviously!

jess!! <3 for the fun asks, what about 25, 28, and 31? hope your wednesday is going well, sweet friend :-)
Hello lovely! Okay here we go.
25: My fave season is autumn, because we're past the stupidly hot summer months but not yet into the cold months of grey skies, drizzly rain, and wearing 4 layers of clothing at all times. Autumn is the in-between time where it's comfortable temps, the leaves are pretty, and I can still wear my handknits.
28. I collect yarn and unfinished projects. Sometimes I even finish them and add the finished garment to my collection of scarves/cowls/beanies/jumpers/mittens!
31. Am I messy or organised? A bit of both. See above for my yarn collection; most of the time the stash is neatly packed away where you can't see it...but when inspiration strikes and I've got multiple projects in my brain all at once, the yarn and needles get scattered all around my work space (lounge room chair) and it becomes dangerous to sit in the wrong spot or put a drink down on the wrong side table.
Thank you for asking!! <3

Day four: Some retextures of a couple of meshes suggested by other Simblrs!
First up is six plain recolours of afbodybrunojacketanimaltop from the H&M Stuff Pack. The request was to throw some different jeans on the mesh, and I tried my best! I was surprised to realise that the waistband for the jeans wasn’t actually meshed - it was flush with the Sim’s hip - and so took the opportunity to raise the waist a bit just because there are already so many low-rider jean options in TS2 (Y2K, baby). It gives me soccer mom vibes.
Second up is five toasty recolours of afbodysuit, aka the Social Worker dress. I had already planned to poke at this one a bit, and was thinking how I wanted some cardigans paired with maxi skirts. All the textures are handpainted (I’m particularly proud of the boots, and the knit pattern) except for where two borrow the original skirt textures.
Classified as Everyday and Outerwear, there are three versions with cowl neck sweaters and two with scarves - and if you know what the scarf versions are referencing I’ll blow you a kiss ;)
No meshes needed! The first requires H&M Stuff but the second is basegame.
