Sasha Regan's All-Male H.M.S. Pinafore

A year ago, I went to Wilton's Music Hall in London to watch what would turn out to be my favorite Gilbert & Sullivan production ever, and in fact, my favorite show out of every production I attended during my semester abroad. I want to share my thoughts about this production with the rest of G&S Tumblr (however many of us there are!)

Gaily tripping, lightly skipping....

This production is a revival; Sasha Regan’s all-male company has done Pinafore several times before. (They’ve also done The Pirates of Penzance, The Mikado, and Iolanthe.) Not knowing anything going in, I was worried that the men playing female roles would end up being presented as the butt of the joke, as is often the case with “man in a dress” humor. But it was earnestly and lovingly directed. It was certainly campy sometimes but it felt less like a parody and more like an honest celebration of homosexual joy, humor, and love.

When I was a lad...

I had also assumed that the music for the female roles would be transposed down, but I was wrong again: the men playing women actually sang up in their high ranges. Not a single note of the score or line of dialogue was altered. In fact, the men in the company who played the “sisters, cousins, and aunts” also played the sailors in some numbers. They even switched back and forth in one scene: they began “Over the bright blue sea…” singing sweetly in their high ranges, and then suddenly leapt down some octaves for “Sir Joseph’s barge is seen…” Gender fluidity was easily achieved through changes in costume elements, body language, and mannerisms. One got the impression of a company of sailors with time to spare using what they had on board to entertain themselves.

Sam Kipling, the actor playing Josephine, had an amazingly stable high range, hitting the B at the end of Nevermind the why and wherefore with no problem. He carried himself gracefully and demurely, but his powerful voice and commanding presence were more than a match for his Ralph (played by Danny Becker).

And excellent peppermint drops...

Another standout cast member was Scotty Armstrong, who played Little Buttercup. He was the first “reveal” of the show — the first transformation from masculine to feminine; when he jumped up to his falsetto, he welcomed the audience into this play AND let them know what they were in for. Out of all of the cast members, at all three of the show dates I attended, it was Scotty who earned the most laughs. And he sold Buttercup’s eleventh-hour plot twist that ushers in the happy ending.

Seeing this genderfluidity and homosexuality in an operatic setting — especially one as hetero/cisnormative as that of the works of Gilbert and Sullivan — meant the world to me. The joy and playfulness of this production lasted long after the final note sounded, and the songs played over and over again in my heart for weeks to follow. What a welcome departure from tradition!

The Ubuyashiki family, by virtue of my overactive imagination, has come to the point that, due to reasons, no longer has contact with the maternal side of their family.

(By comparison, paternal wise, Mio and Yuzuru were dropped off at the Ubuyashiki's house around the same time Diavolo realized Lilith had human descendants still around, and subsequently crashed the twins fourteenth birthday.

It was also around this time, that in a completely unrelated manner, Arthur and Rupert got the shit beat out of them for hiring a Hell-Born Witch without informing Eirny or Bridget. Said witch might have been an overachieving Urisha Matthews, but I digress.

Now, this has nothing do with a childhood incident, and everything more to do with Kunugi Akemi being legally dead on paper, and Ubuyashiki Ushio still receiving birthday presents from cousin Mizuki with incredibly cryptic notes.

Anyway.

Branching from this, there's a damn good reason Kunugi Akemi is dead.

First and foremost, Grandma Izumi and Granpa Sorahiko definently already have their favorites amongst Ushio's brood, and they're barely aware they exist.

(For the record, it's Sora and Minato, who fufill their idea of gender roles in a traditional household quite well.

...they do think Nagisa is absolutely delightful, however.)

Moving on, the Kunugi household, as whole, even today, isn't really a place for children to grow up in. Aiko and Sosuke have definitely taken after their parents in the raising children department, Himiko pretends that she's perfectly independent, 2hen she's not, and, again, on paper, Akemi's dead, cousin Mizuki, with his kids, Kiyomizu, Mikado, and Makoto, are a completely different batch of crazy...

(All of the Kunugi and Ubuyashiki family are named after anime/game characters, yes, hush, points to those who guess.)

So, yeah, this might come to a head at some point, mostly due to a mix-up between Ubuyashiki Sora and Kunugi Sora, Aiko's youngest daughter, involving milk, vegetables, wayward twin siblings, and projectile vomit.

(It's an event, to say the least.)

[The Kunugi family, for the record, is caught up in its own supernatural bullshit, which Kunugi Sora is absolutely not here for, and would enjoy the opportunity to return to the Yanagi household not smelling like an indoor pools rejected cousin.]

(And no, Kunugi Sora does not live her with family. At least, not physically, on paper she does, but she's been bunking with the Yanagi family for so long that Matsuri is hard pressed to remember a time when she wasn't there, and the girl has nearly a full decade over Seimei.

It doesn't help that Kunugi just... sort of signed herself up for the same school as Seimei for half a dozen years. She has her parents signatures down to an art form at this point.)

Response to someone saying Shizuo is a bad person and is no better than Izaya: I SO disagree!

I already addressed this as a response to the post, but I will post it on it’s own here as well. I am not gonna argue with anyone so if you come and respond expecting an argument out of me you will be very disappointed. I just had to say something so I did. Here is my response:

I am so sorry but I disagree all the way with every bit of this. Izaya is my favorite character, but that doesn’t mean he hasn’t been shitty. He is EXTREMELY shitty. Like you said he drugged two suicidal girls, that’s bad and I don’t know why that was brought up as if it’s nothing compared to Shizuo’s actions (or maybe you weren’t implying that, but that’s how it came across, sorry). He was trying to trick people into becoming suicidal statistics (well, not “trying” because he was actually succeeding as far as I understand), he’s the reason Saki was put in the hospital because he manipulated her into doing everything she said, he messed with Mikado so bad that he tried to commit suicide and would have succeeded if it weren’t for Celty, he messed with Masaomi, (I can’t fully prove this, but) he messed with Namie and was able to get her for himself because of the drama that ensued; I feel like it was heavily implied, he hates Anri just because he doesn’t consider her a human even though that poor girl never did a thing to him  (as far as I understand) except “take his humans away”. I can go on and on. But I love him no matter what. Izaya acts on purpose to purposely harm people, and even though he is my favorite character and I am practically in love with him it pisses me off when people justify his actions or try to say that someone else is worse than him. Shizuo does not act on purpose. He acts on impulse and can’t control his anger. And yes, people provoke him; I saw that being brought up as well. They piss him off. Most people he beats up provoked him, attacked him, or was doing something wrong. At one point he had no choice because Izaya was putting the word out about him and droves of people were coming to try and beat him up. Him going after Izaya - and eventually harming him severely - was exactly what Izaya deserved if you want me to be honest. I feel bad for Izaya, I would love to nurse him back to “health” if that were at all possible, but it’s what he deserved. Shizuo constantly beats up bad guys. He has attacked a few innocent people, like the reporter who was simply asking a question. That wasn’t good. But don’t pretend like he’s as bad as or worse than Izaya. That’s just a thing people who love Izaya come up with (at least based on this post) and it’s super, SUPER, annoying. I don’t remember if this was in a response or what you said in the post, but someone said that Shizuo better be glad he didn’t kill Izaya because then he’d be a murderer, completely omitting the fact that Izaya seriously tried to kill Shizuo on that building and so on. That’s the kind of stuff I’m talking about. We omit certain things just to justify Izaya. He’s my favorite. Like my cousin (who I mentioned below but I edited this sentence in later so it’s after I wrote that part lol) a lot of my favorite characters are bad guys. But just because I like them doesn’t mean the shitty stuff they do it suddenly okay. And, in response to one comment, don’t blame Tom for not being able to stop Shizuo, because you could easily say the same thing about Namie that wasn’t brought up just because they like Izaya. That’s like saying Kirishima is at fault for not being able to control Bakugou (My Hero Academia). Neither of them have any control over two grown ass men’s actions. And I saw someone say Verona was worse than Shizuo and Izaya put together...no she is NOT. She’s an assassin. She beats up bad guys. She beat up a group of men who told Shizuo and Tom that they wanted blowjobs from her and it was implied they were gonna fight to make her do it whether she wanted to or not. She doesn’t go after innocent people and people who are mentally “weak” like Izaya does constantly just to see people suffer and burn. There was someone who said that no one in Durarara is a good person. I kinda agree with that, but not all the way. Okay. I’m sorry. I just really needed to say something because that was making me super mad when I found this. It’s three years old but I really needed to say something. I started crying after discovering this post. I have mental illness. Like one of my very cousins (who actually doesn’t have Tumblr), these kinds of things get trapped in my head as a voice and continue to torment me until I address them, so I had to address this. Please don’t think that this is an attack. I simply disagree all the way with this; that is all.

Our Favorite Buddyfight Antagonist, Adopted

It was the night right after Gaen was defeated. Tasuku Sendou went over to meet Rouga Aragami. He touched the older’s shoulder and said, “You look lonely. I know some people who would love to take you in.”

Rouga stopped. He looked at the bluenet, whose eyes shone brightly like diamonds. He looked so full of hope, of faith. It looked like he believed in Rouga. Tasuku smirked, “One of them reminds me of you.” The other gay looked so loving. Something stirred within Rouga. He accepted the invite. “Now, I have to meet up with Gao-kun. I’ll come find you later.”

Rouga looked back at the boy who flies on a dragon, rather than relying on a Buddy Skill. “Tch. Tasuku Sendou...”

15 minutes later, Rouga was standing in the same spot when Tasuku returned. “Let’s go!” He said gaily.

Another bluenet--a shota, by the looks of it--trailed behind him. All three of them rode the public bus. Mrs. Sendou--the older bluenet, he can’t complain--immediately tried to introduce himself to Rouga. Rouga just stayed silent. 

“Ano, just like Toshiki-kun.” He scratched his face. Rouga filed that name for later.

Tasuku also fell asleep on the half-hour bus trip. It was so crowded, Rouga sat on the floor, much to their protests.

Before he knew it, he was woken up with a snort, standing. In front of him was a store. The big sign atop the door read “Card Capital.” Both Sendous looked excited. It was sliding doors.

It was a small shop, only one floor, and a whole gang of adults were seated at tables, placemats in front, yelling names he vaguely remembers Tasuku calling out in almost all his matches. 

One cold-looking brunet was standing against the whole looking cool. His hair was flying to the right, just like Tasuku’s. Amost all the adults hurried over to greet the Sendous. Rouga stayed silent, vaguely annoyed, but then...

“Oh! Meet my friend, Rouga. He’s the lonely guy I told you about!” 

“Hn.” Rouga grunted.

A clamor ensued, but was silenced by the brunet asking, “Do you really want to be adopted?”

That took Rouga by surpise. Tasuku gently held his arm. It was cold yet warm. It came like a surprise to Rouga. Again, the younger bluenet looked so pleading. And lonely. He could see himself, strangely enough, in those eyes.

“Tch. Yes.”

“Ok, I have to call my husband.” A gray-eyes blond said. The other interrogated him, Tasuku answering for him. The lady behind the counter eyed him suspiciously. 

He couldn’t blame her.

Before long, he heard a vroom.

Through the door rode a buff man who looked like a gang boss.

“Yo! This the lonely kid?”

“Yes!” Tasuku called. He looked cheery for someone who was calling Rouga “gangsta.”

The brunet said. “Enough!” The clamor died down. “He have the papers ready.”

 The crime boss stared at him seriously and said, “Would you like your name changed? We understand that you don’t have one.”

What?...Well, this name was given to him by Kyoya. His friend is lost, but...

“Yes.”

“Do you have anything in mind?”

Tasuku rattled off a list of names. Rouga sighed. This was going to be a looong day.

A week later, he woke up from the blackness on something cushy. He could smell breakfast across the hall. He followed it, despite squishing the very thick pillow onto his face.

He could hear two voices which he had gotten accustomed to over the past week. It was arguing over what they should have for breakfast. He still has a hard time processing that he’s adopted--and with a name change at that. He actually decided on his identity! Unbelievable. Instead of sitting at the table, he layed down on the floor, clutching his pillow, attempting to return to bed. They didn’t notice him yet.

A while later, the door rang. The arguing extended to who was getting the door. They argue too much, he’s noticed. Mr. Sendou said that they still have to work out the kinks, but this is ridiculous!

He opened the door instead. Two innocent faces stared back at him, two eyes blue, the others red. 

“Hey, Katsuki!”

Katsuki smiled slightly at that. They decided yesterday that his name was going to be Katsuki--for now. It doesn’t fit right, but it will do for now. He’s always wanted a name with started with K. 

It was small talk, then running to the bus. Mrs. Sendou said that this--the running--doesn’t happen often.

And then... “Is the bus always this crowded?” 

“Yes.” Tasuku replied. “At least the fangirls can’t follow me home!” Katsuki doesn’t reply to that.

Mrs. Sendou hugs them both in front of Aibo Academy, a tearful send-off given by the mother, then they all split for their own ways.

The UFO b***h flew into their faces, screaming, “Nani?! Rouga Aragami is back at Aibo Academy? What are you doing here?”

“I am not Rouga Aragami anymore. You will refer to me as Mister Mutsuki.”

“Wha?”

Tasuku defended him with “He’s my new cousin. My first, infact. Please leave him alone! We all have school.” And proceeded to drag Katsuki to class--with directions from Katsuki, of course. The younger has a surprising amount of stamina for someone who doesn’t take Phys Ed or is in the Buddy Police. They managed to ourun her. Tasuku waved him off before speeding to his own class.

Katsuki spent class staring off into space, thinking about the boy, while still being able to be attentive. 

The teacher got his name right. His cousin said that he might have to correct the teachers. As if it was an unfortunate fact.

Katsuki found his cousin at lunch, sleeping on a bench. He shook the boy awake. 

Slap! “Nooooo! Let me sleep, you twats!” he said grumpily. 

“Get up! You said I could find you here!”

The blunet was grumpy for the rest of the day.

“I said five minutes before class!” He glared at the older.

Both their brows were furrowed in frustatration. Which resulted in a staring contest. Then they has chit-chat about plans for after school.

Then a tiny brat ran over to them, panting. “Sendou-senpai! Time for class!”

“Auuuuugh! Go away, brat!” The bluenet snapped. The kid fled in tears, extremely noisy about it. It grated on Katsuki’s ears. Tasuku’s, too, by the looks of it.

From then on, he learned to not wake the younger up--ever--unless it was five minutes before the bell. Or it was an emergency. Like family or Mikado.

The ride was even more crowded than this morning, if it was even possible! Katsuki rode on the floor this time, his cousin moping through it. His mother tried to cheer him up.

It barely worked.

“So...how was school~?” The blond--mom, he decided to call him--teased. 

“Hn” Katsuki did NOT feel like talking today. 

But it was fine.

“Oi, Taishi! If he doesn’t wanna talk, he doesn’t wanna talk? Remember?”

Mom groaned.

Katsuki could get used to be part of Tasuku’s family, even honorary ones. At least he’ll be around good gays.

he has TRAUMA dammit!! i hc that he has a backstory similar to maki’s in that he was forced into being an assassin at a young age so it wasn’t really his choice to get involved in all this. i’ve kinda ran that idea into the ground at this point though so here’s a lighter headcanon: when he was 14, he reeeaaaally wanted to be a cat. like, to the point where he’s embarrassed to look back on those days because oh my god he really straight up tried to act like a cat 24/7 huh? kinda ties into another headcanon of mine that he’s less mature than he lets on and tends to go through periods of feeling kinda childlike but ssshh shsh shsh shush

he’s so interesting. it’s clear a lot of work went into his character, and it’s always a fascinating struggle to try and write him. i think it might be a bit easier after chapter four is fully translated but still there’s a lot of complexity to him and it’s interesting trying to break down his outer shell and get inside his head, y’know? also, he’s adorable. i wanna squish his cheeks.

oh my GOD does my boy stress me out. i hate seeing him being mean to my other favorite characters and i’m always just like baby why are you like this please don’t ohmygod?? i’m gonna have to watch chapter four with my hands covering my eyes hasdfjslkdf i hate betrayal plots :’)

this is kinda hard actually hasdkflsjdfk but “and she threw them away just like that? girl, are you a genius or an idiot, make up your mind!” from the third trial is reALLY GOOD FHKJDFLKDSF on a more heartbreaking note though him apologizing before he dies is just,, god. god.

him and the other voids!! they’re a family fight me. and him and seishi, ofc. i also like him and setsuka a lot though,, after chapter six i’m doubling down on my “she’s his mom!!” stance okay. i also like him and yoruko because i think they could have a fun dynamic (and maybe a soft dynamic with older yoruko,, maybe,,)(what i’m saying is that he gains another mom okay. let me project my mommy issues in peace)

unpopular opinion 

i’m not actually sure if this counts cuz i don’t see this on tumblr at least but i don’t think we should take what he says to emma and hajime in the void theater at face value. i think despite what he says he actually does care about them in his own way, he just doesn’t really show it well because he doesn’t like to be vulnerable around others. he’s an asshole sometimes (actually a lot of the time hadsflkjsdflk), but that doesn’t mean he’s unfeeling or unable to care about people.

AAAAAAAAAA BOYFRIEND BOYFRIEND he’s so sweet such a good boy!! i like that he’s empathetic towards others cuz of his luck and he cares about how it affects them. i like that he’s soft and definitely a good cuddle partner. i love that he’s a trans icon even if that’s not really the intent i don’t care he just vibes trans so well (gal or guy or nonbinary but i tend to stick with the trans guy headcanon cuz haha i transmasc-)

Abbey & Rob

Meet The Greendyke’s! Abbey and Rob were married September 26, 2020 at The Genesee Valley Club. Abbey wore style “Malena” by Pronovias, a stunning mikado ball gown with a plunge neckline and timeless details.

“We met the summer before my Junior year of high school. I was attending a bonfire in Mendon Ponds Park with my best friend and he was also there. I always joke that I found him in the woods. Our first date was at The Northside Inn in East Rochester. I was so nervous I kept dropping gnocchi on my lap & he still won’t let me forget it.”

On how she knew Rob was “the one”: “I don’t know if there was a specific moment. We have been together since I was in high school so we have grown together through so many stages of life together, already. Looking back at all of the adventures we had and the amazing life we had already built – it was always clear he was who I wanted to be with forever.”

On how he proposed: “In Spring 2019 we decided to take an epic trip out west to see national parks before meeting up with my family in Arizona for my cousin’s high school graduation. Our first day of the trip was in Kings Canyon National Park in California. We spent the morning driving on winding roads through mountains with some of the most beautiful views I have ever seen. He kept stopping the car to set up our camera and take pictures together over and over again. We usually take a ton of pictures on our trips it wasn’t totally out of the ordinary, but I was starting to get a little annoyed. Finally, we pulled off and there was a small path that lead to cliffs with panoramic views of mountains and valleys. He set up our camera on the tripod like we were taking a picture and ran over and got down on one knee.

We still had about five days left of our trip before we were to meet up with the rest of my family. We decided to keep our engagement as our little secret so we could tell them in person. It was amazing to take it all in just the two of us and celebrate as we visited some of the most beautiful places in the country.”

We had originally planned to do a wine tasting & chateau tour in France. However, the pandemic had other plans. We ended up doing a little road trip in Maine & ending our trip in one of our favorite places – Lake Placid.

“My dress made me feel like the best version of myself. When I realized it was the one it was like I was immediately transported to the beginning of the aisle and seeing Rob at the other end. It was so comfortable and felt like an extension of me! I also loved how it made me feel sophisticated, beautiful and ready to take on my wedding day.”

“My favorite part was picking out my dress! It really helped me visualize everything else and made it all feel so real. The Silk team was absolutely amazing to work with too.”

“My least favorite part was coordinating everything with the pandemic. We had to adjust our plan so many times but I think it worked out even better than we originally planned. Having to scale things down allowed us to be able to focus on each other and enjoy every single moment of our day. I wouldn’t change a thing!”

On her favorite moment from their wedding day: “I could never pick just one memory! So probably Just seeing the joy on everyone’s faces and the feeling of complete bliss I had that day.”

November 24, 2019, the most magical day of my life. ❤

We drove up to Tagaytay a day before our wedding so we can get all settled before our big day. Our family stayed in Abagatan Ti Manila. I stayed in the Heritage Room while my family were in different deluxe rooms. We actually had lunch with my relatives and had dinner with my immediate family. I even had time to do some girl talk with some of my entourage who were staying in the same hotel.

It was a perfect, sunny morning. My day started at 5:00 in the morning. My coordinator and I agreed to meet at 6:00 am so we can still do the turnover for an hour. My Hair & Make-Up team will be arriving at 7:00.

My HMUA Team, led by Elaine Celestino arrived at 6:00 but stayed in the parking. Elaine, together with her assistant did mine, my maid of honor, the groom’s mother and our flower girl. The white robe I’m wearing while I’m doing my make-up is a gift from my cousin. Thank you, Maves!

TIP: Play your favorite songs in the background. That will help lighten everyone’s mood! Since I’m a 90s baby, I was playing RNB 90s and singing to the tunes of Shawty it’s your Booty, Buy you a drank, Confessions, Mad, My Boo, So sick, Miss Independent and the likes.

This, my final look for the church ceremony. ❤ This time, I’m wearing the dress I designed from scratch, made a reality by Embellish Dress Shop.

My beautiful bouquet was prepared by Dangwa Florist. I wanted an all white roses. At first, I wanted a cascading bouquet but when I tried carrying one, it was too heavy for me. I changed it back to round ones. Also, check my Champagne colored heels.

Some of our wedding details: an All White wedding invitation made by Paper Thread Studio with an illustration of us from our engagement shoot. ❤ Our rings were made by Marry Me and obviously, my perfume known to be Janna’s scent – Gucci. ❤

The kind of gown all small girls dream of. The Wedding Gown of my dreams. ❤ It’s an A-Line in Gazar – Mikado Material, a deep V, neck line with sheer V deep armholes, a deep V Back with floral appliques on the side and some pearls to cover my chest. The amazing thing? it has pockets! P.S. I didn’t want any diamonds or lace or sheer or sequins.

The Gown of my dreams was created by Rose Lagdameo, the official couturier of Pronovias, Mi Sueno here in the Philippines.

I swear I wasn’t feeling any nervousness. I was at peace and calm and you know, just following wherever they needed me to be. And here comes our Photographer and Videographer, Timoteo Photo and Stories by Supermac, asking me to read my vows.

Two months before our wedding, there was a memo released for all the churches in Tagaytay – we are no longer allowed to read our personal vows during the ceremony. I’d like to share my Wedding Vows on a separate post.

As our gift to our bride squad, my Maid of Honor Alex gave me 9 sets of Make-Up from Barebug, her business. And as our gift for her, I purchased a wallet from Mango.

The beautiful gown of our bride squad was created by Christlee Marcelino. As part of our theme, our Bridesmaids wore a dark emerald gown, our Secondary Sponsors wore a sage green and our Maids of Honor wore a champagne gown. All of their gowns are plain, mikado gown with a high slit infront. ❤

Before we head to the church, we each had a toast of a fruity wine! And zero ounce of doubt or nervousness, STILL!

Of course we have to have a series of shots withe most important group – my family! A couple with my mom, my dad, my siblings and one with that yaya I grew up with.

I love my family and I’m glad we are complete on this beautiful day. ❤

The Kunugi Family!

Brought to by boredom, spite, and a general want to see my writing projects through.

Anyway, the main Kunugi family, at it's most simple, consists of five children, two parents, two maternal grandparents, and one unmarried maternal uncle.

In order of birth, the children are as follows, Ichiru, Toshirou, Misato, Chiasa, and Sorahiko.

Kisuke is older than his wife Aiko by little more than four and a half years. Uncle Satoru is only twenty-three at the start of everything, and the grandparents, Kunugi Sorahiko and Kunugi Izumi are exactly a decade apart in age, with Izumi being the older out of the pair.

Kunugi Kisuke, it should be noted, married into the family, (and his 'maiden' name is actually Kobashigawa, and both his parents are there own pieces of work, also, one of his brothers is dead, alongside his wife, and he desperately wishes he had taken in niece when presented with the opportunity, mostly because, one, it would improve his relationship with Aiko by leaps and bounds do to the fact that the woman was in love with said brother and his best friend, secondly, it would mean that Toshirou, Misato, Chiasa, and Sora likely wouldn't exist).

The married aunts and Uncle's are as follows.

Kunugi Akemi, after faking her death and becoming Ryuzaki Ushio, married Ubuyashiki Takeru, thus becoming Ubuyashiki Ushio, and, at the end of everything, has nine children.

Her eldest are the twins Reiji and Sora, followed by Nagisa two years later, followed by Minato another three years after that, then Rukia another three years later, and then Asuka five years after Rukia's birth, at the end we have the triplets, Yasuo, Yaeko, and Yachiko, who were born six years after Asuka's birth.

Out of the twins, Reiji is older by two and a half days, due to complications concerning Ushio's and Sora's individual health.

Reiji was born on May 19th, and Sora May 22nd.

The triplets were born in the order of Yachiko, Yasuo, and Yaeko, with their being two hours between Yachiko and Yasuo, and fifteen minutes between Yasuo and Yaeko.

Aunt Akemi was the second eldest after Sosuke, with Aiko being the third born, Himiko the fourth, and Satoru the fifth.

[Satoru, for the record, lives up to his namesake, mostly by ways of fucking with his family, as, unfortunately, his charges are ten and under here, and he would sooner knife you than entertain the idea of traumatizing small children for the sake of a 'lesson'.]

Kunugi Sosuke has a wife, (who he's actually fond of, le gasp), and a single daughter named Chiharu. Who he keeps far, far, far away from the shitshow that is their family on a good day, beyond that, he's the only Kunugi sibling produced by Sorahiko and Izumi to be taken to court over something.

(It was an assault charge, but for all his apathy concerning Aiko, he doesn't regret beating the ever loving shit out of Edogawa Ryusei.

Never.)

After him is Aunt Himiko, who is married to a pediatrician from China, and has three children, and has, successfully, been able to keep all three of them away from her shitshow of a family. She has two sons and a daughter, but naming them would defeat the point if keeping them away from the family. So dah!

Cousin Mizuki is the son of Sorahiko's younger brother Katsuyuki, and is a divorced man, and the main caregiver of three children, mostly because his wife is an absolute mess of a woman on a good day.

In order of birth, they are Makoto, Mikado, and Kiyomizu.

He's a bit eccentric, but he's probably the best father out of everyone present, (Sosuke is too emotionally distant from his daughter to really count).

They have another cousin named Ishikawa Chou, who is the daughter of Sorahiko's older sister Jakushitsu, and is probably the nost adjusted out of everyone here. She's has an incredibly close relationship with all her children, is a relatively good person, and tries her best.

It's really, really, really not her fault all her kids are so fucked up, (and neither is it Kenta's), it's just fates way of cursing the Kunugi line with incredibly complicated filial relationships.

(Because yeah, the only person who has an even remotely positive relationship with Sosuke is Aiko, and that's because she wasn't actively raised by him.)

In order of birth, her children are, Katsuki, Yubari, Hyosuke, Mamoru, and Yuu.

On Aiko and Kisuke's side of the mess, Kisuke's family situation is... just as bad.

His parents most certainly had their own favorites, and they had increasingly fucked up ways to show it, as their favorites, Kazuhiko and Suzuki, were constantly subjected to emotional abuse, and verbally torn apart at any and every opportunity, with Kazuhiko finally snapping and trying to leave with his wife, daughter, and Aiko.

[And, yes, Aiko did bring along Ichiru, for those wondering.]

(And while Kisuke may hate his wife with a burning passion, and barely tolerate his children, nowadays he doesn't blame her from wanting to get away from it all.

He really, really, really doesn't.

But the fact that she refused to so much as inform him of anything was probably what killed any chance of love between them in the first place.)

{Kisuke doesn't really hate his children as much as he says he does, he has his problems with them, yes, but sheer unadulterated hate is pushing it.

More than anything, he hopes none of them ever turn out like him and Aiko.}

Unfortunately, there was an accident, ending in Kazuhiko, and his wife Sanae, dying. Their daughter an orphan, and released into the hands of Hinata and Asahi.

(Mikazuki is a wonderful take on a child never having a stable home life, like, ever, the longest she's ever lived in a single place was the year or so she spent in Suzuki's care as an infant, and, now that she's twenty-two, the two solid years she's shared a studio-apartment with her spouse Nishikinomiya Kouya.)
