Found out some devastating news. I was saving this but now's a good time as ever to show it. Hold those you love close, comfort them, support them.
She's not starside yet, but we'll soon lose her, and I'm not ready but atleast if she knows she's loved, it's enough.💚

Ohhh my sonssssssssss
Yeah this is so adorable
Get yourself an alien boyfriend loser/j !!
Thats sweet thats so sweet
Here's the second part of my Mecha AU coswave! First part is here, third and final chapter coming soon. Inspired by @cosmique-oddity and the Mecha AU by @keferon
On Earth, a bitter war against the quintesson invaders rages on. Alone on a slap-dash little shoebox of a space station, Cosmos keeps watch from above. As it turns out, he's not the only one.
“You haven’t actually told me why you’re here yet,” Cosmos asks the next morning between quick bites of his breakfast, excitement thrumming in his veins. Chicken sandwich today- one of the nicer options available here. He generally tries to save them for special occasions, but he’d say he deserves to treat himself, considering the hectic events of the day prior.
After he’d shaken off the worst of his shock, he’d only had time to ask a few things- what the mech/satellite was (a sapient, living machine), whether he was an alien (yes) and what his affiliation to the quints was (their kinds were enemies, at war, just like humanity was) before his alert systems started screeching again, this time not stopping for hours.
As it turned out, a whole quintesson force had managed to hide itself on the Moon somehow, choosing that moment to reveal itself and heading straight for Earth. Which- yeah, that was kind of a disaster, seeing as it gave them basically no advance warning. Cosmos spent the next eight hours hurriedly relaying enemy positions and watching with bated breath as the combat began down on the surface. Eventually, their mecha had managed to kill most of the invaders, but the casualty counts had been higher than usual.
Needless to say, Cosmos hadn’t had much energy to keep questioning his new acquaintance after that. The last thing he did before falling asleep was look up the ‘satellite’ Soundwave was, ah, impersonating? He’d quickly found out that yes, Soundwave was indeed a perfect replica of a Galileo satellite, even logged in the systems as a functional member of the constellation, which- that was incredible, actually. Definitely explained why nobody noticed him.
Cosmos had wanted to ask how he’d managed that, and, for that matter, what happened to the real satellite which used to be there, but sleep had taken him before he could unstrap himself from his bed and ask.
And if his curiosity led him to postpone his morning exercise regime and go interrogate an alien robot instead? Well, it’s not like anyone’s here to tell on him.
[Primary purpose: information gathering. Secondary purpose: curiosity.] Appears in the corner of one screen, shaking Cosmos out of his thoughts.
“Gathering information? On what, humans? Earth?”
[Affirmative.]
Cosmos huffs, amused, crumpling up the wrapper from his breakfast and floating over to the garbage disposal with it. “Could you please elaborate on that?” he asks, tossing the packaging in before turning back. When he returns to his workstation, and answer is already waiting for him there.
[Motives: multiple. Soundwave: became aware of quintesson attacks led on another planet, tracked communications to approximate location. Cybertronian ship Lost Light: recovered organic-piloted mech, claiming Earth origin. Soundwave: noted-]
Wait. “Wait a moment,” Cosmos says hurriedly, thoughts racing. “Organic piloted mech from Earth? Do you know their name?” Because if it’s who he thinks it is, then-
[Human designation: Jazz]
-it would be answering some very big questions.
Anybody who keeps up with the news around the pilot program knows that name. People on Earth have been bashing their collective heads against the wall, trying to figure out how a whole mech could just disappear like that, only for Cosmos to find out that, what? The poor man just- ended up in deep space somehow? It’s wonderful to hear he’s alive, but- wow.
[Cosmos: knows Jazz?]
“Know of him, more like. I’ve only spoken to him once, when he was leaving low orbit on his test flight. Most people know of him, though,” Cosmos answers, running a hand through his red curls. “The whole thing’s been a big mystery, ended up in the news and all. Actually, I should probably inform mission control about this. I’m sure they’d want to-”
A new message flashes on the screen immediately, in bigger letters than usual. [Request: refrain from sharing information with other humans.]
Cosmos freezes, his hands halfway to the keyboard, a frisson of unease sneaking up his spine. “Why not?”
[Soundwave: wishes humans to remain unaware of Soundwave’s presence.]
Which, alright, he supposes that makes sense. Soundwave was quite obviously planning to remain undetected, seeing as he spent an entire month pretending to be an ordinary satellite. Still, though- “Again, why? I don’t want to pry, but what’s the main issue here? A lot of people have been worrying about Jazz, and I think they’d appreciate knowing he’s alive.”
There’s a significant pause, just enough for Cosmos to start getting anxious, before the next message appears. [Humans: fearful, unpredictable, dangerous. Soundwave: alone, vulnerable. Request: refrain from sharing information with other humans temporarily.]
Right. That’s- fair, actually. Cosmos supposes Soundwave is probably not wrong, in this regard. Humans already do some… morally dubious things to their own people, so it’s not too far-fetched to worry that they’d try to, what? Dissect the alien mech, perhaps? Or something equally as cruel. And even though Soundwave is a very capable fighter, most likely strong enough to keep himself out of their hands, they’d definitely be able to make his stay here difficult. Maybe even enough to leave.
And- Cosmos is surprised to realize how much he doesn’t want that. He’s only just met the mech, and there’s so much more he’d like to ask. For god’s sake, he’s an actual, real alien! How amazing is that? Not to mention, Soundwave is inherently fascinating, not only as an otherworldly being but as a person too, and Cosmos feels like he’d regret it for the rest of his life if he drove him away.
However, he does have a duty to his superiors, and humanity itself. He’s obligated to report on any anomalies, which this most certainly falls under, but- would it really be so bad if, just this once, he didn’t? If he kept this one thing to himself, at least for a little bit longer?
“…You said temporarily?” Cosmos asks eventually, the slight change in the mech’s wording finally catching up to him and bringing him out of his warring thoughts.
The screen remains blank for almost half a minute, and the silence feels weighty. Important, somehow.
Cosmos waits. Then, a new row of text finally begins unfurling in front of his eyes.
[Additional information: Lost Light en-route to Earth, intending peaceful alliance with humans. Jazz: on board. Soundwave: transmitted location of Earth three earth weeks prior.]
[Strong request: refrain from sharing information with other humans until arrival.]
Cosmos exhales, trying to process it all. It’s obvious from his hesitation that Soundwave hasn’t really planned on telling him any of this, and he recognizes the gesture for what it is- a show of trust. And all he’s asking in return is that Cosmos do the same.
If Soundwave isn’t lying, then this ship of theirs is coming to Earth, bringing Jazz back home. Along with an unknown number of very combat-capable alien robots. And sure, Soundwave hasn’t seemed hostile so far, towards him or humans as a whole, but- Cosmos has known him for a day. He could be wrong about the mech, and soon enough, an alien attack force would be coming along to finish off what the quints started.
Or, Soundwave might be telling the truth. Jazz really could be alive and well on the- Lost Light, was it? The incoming aliens might turn out to be much-needed allies, a crucial step to humanity finally gaining the upper hand over the quints.
Either way, he has no way to know. Which leads him back to the matter of trust.
Is this a gamble he’s willing to make?
“…Alright. I- I’ll keep it to myself, for now. But please tell me once they’re almost here, alright?”
There.
He’s not sure why, but he does trust Soundwave. Or, at least trusts him enough to believe he means no harm. Stupid? Maybe. But his decision is made, and his intuition is telling him to go with it.
The screen in front of his face lights up with another message. [Terms: accepted.]
Well, and that’s that.
-
Despite having just met an entirely new species of alien, the following two weeks are surprisingly uneventful for Cosmos.
Aside from periodically questioning Soundwave about anything and everything he could think of, his usual routine remans pretty much the same. Exercise, stare at his screens, force down a few tasteless meals, repeat. The mecha teams on earth mopped up the last of the quints’ latest attack within two days, leaving him with not much to do aside from stewing in his own thoughts.
His thoughts haven’t been very kind to him lately.
In the absence of work, his mind never fails to remind him of just how alone he is. His fingers prickle with a chill no sweaters or blankets can chase away and a persistent, aching itch makes itself at home beneath his skin. No amount of calls with his ma or texts from his colleagues can banish it entirely, only lessening the feeling for a few scant moments before it’s back with a vengeance.
Not even his conversations with Soundwave help as much as he hoped- the cybertronian is so fascinating, not to mention an absolute delight to talk to once you get past his odd speech pattern, but the topics they discuss usually aren’t anything close to intimate. Cosmos would very much like to change that, learn more about the mech as a person but, well. He’s never quite sure how to broach the subject.
So he stays silent, keeping their talks to professional curiosity, while the chill in his soul grows day by day.
Sighing for the fifth time in as many minutes, Cosmos finally gives up on the book he was trying (and failing) to read, putting the tablet aside. He’d picked some highly reviewed romance novel, hoping it would help him feel- if not better, then feel something, at least. But to no avail. It’s not that the story is bad, or the characters boring, but watching the main leads hold each other close and whisper sweet nothings into their lover’s ear only succeeds in making him more miserable.
Today marks his third complete month on this mission, with three more still to go. Three months since he’s felt the warmth of another living being, since he’s seen another person face to face. It’s making his mind stray to some unfortunate places.
More and more, he finds himself reminiscing on his mum’s hugs, his old college roommate who’d huddle next to him on their tiny couch while they studied, and even the one crappy ex he’d had years ago. Horrible; yes, he knows, but sue him, he’s lonely. The man might have turned out pretty awful in the end, but he had been the perfect size for cuddles. Cosmos catches himself imagining the weight of him in his arms, dad’s arm around his shoulder or giant metal hands, holding him ever so gently in their palms- wait.
No, wait, what?
Cosmos blinks, rapidly shaking his head with a grimace because seriously, what even? That is- well, preposterous, really. Soundwave is a perfectly nice…alien, sure, but still, come on! Although, now that he thinks about it, he does imagine the mech would be quite warm, despite the metal of his plating, and- gah.
He really must be going mad up here.
Rubbing his hands over his face, he tries to force the beginnings of a flush away from his cheeks, only to flinch when the chime of an incoming message startles him from his embarrassing thoughts. And speak of the devil, here Soundwave is, and Cosmos wishes he was on Earth just so the ground could swallow him whole.
[Query: Cosmos status report?]
“Are you- asking about my data, or how I’m doing?” he says into the headset, puzzled. This is the first time Soundwave has contacted him unprompted, and he’s pretty sure he’d have no reason to be asking after Cosmos’ information. As far as he’s aware from their conversations, the mech is something of a master spy amongst their people, so why-
[Clarification: requesting report on Cosmos’ wellbeing.]
“Me? Oh, uh, I’m alright?” he says, still somewhat confused but also…a little pleased, perhaps. “Why do you ask?”
[Cosmos: displaying unusual behavior, showing signs of unease. Query: status report]
“Showing signs of- wait, you can see me?”
[Affirmative. Statement: camera present in monitor room accessible to Soundwave.]
…Today really isn’t his day, huh.
On one hand, it makes sense. Soundwave seems to have his eyes and ears everywhere, so why not on him as well? And it’s not a bad feeling, to know he cared enough to ask after his wellbeing.
On the other, if death from sheer mortification is at all possible, then Cosmos is a goner.
He knows the camera’s there, of course. Usually, he doesn’t even mind it; the knowledge that either some random worker, or more likely just an automated monitoring system, is keeping an eye on him doesn’t bother him at all. But knowing that Soundwave is watching? That Soundwave saw him, what? Moping for days on end, getting misty-eyed about cat videos and sci-fi novels, and blushing over the thought of getting the giant robot version of a hug?
God, somebody come put him out of his misery.
The console pings again, somehow louder than before, and Cosmos pulls his hands off of his tomato-red face to look. Another request for a status report stares back at him.
Shaking his embarrassment off to the best of his ability, Cosmos takes some time to consider his answer. He’s not sure just how much of his inner turmoil he wants to share with the mech. Then again, isn’t this what he’s been waiting for? A chance to get closer? And here Soundwave is, reaching out of his own volition, serving him this opportunity up on a silver platter.
“I- When you’re away from your people like this, is there someone you miss? Someone who’s waiting for you back home?”
A momentary pause. Then, [Query: reason for question?]
Cosmos sighs. “It’s just- right, so. Humans, we’re a very social species, yes? We form very close relationships, both platonic and romantic.”
[Soundwave: aware.]
“Alright, good. The thing is, we don’t do very well when we’re alone,” which, understatement of the century, especially in his case. “Back in the day, an astronaut being sent to space alone would have been unimaginable. It would be against all sorts of protocol. However, we don’t really have any resources to spare nowadays, so here I am. And I’ve been… struggling a bit.”
No response is forthcoming, and the silence only drives Cosmos to ramble even faster. “it’s just- and it’s not even just me being alone up here. I can still interact with other people, but who can I really talk to? I mean. I haven’t kept in contact with old friends much, god forbid I ever speak to my ex again and the other watchmen… they’re alright, I guess? But we haven’t really clicked,” he says miserably, running both hands through his hair.
“Which just leaves my parents, really. And they’re wonderful, don’t get me wrong, they’ve always been supportive of me, but-“ he chuckles a little, “they have a corn farm, in Iowa. They love me, and I love them, but they don’t really get it. So…yeah. I guess you could say I’m feeling a little lonely.”
Still no response. Just when Cosmos is starting to regret ever opening his stupid mouth, an odd, metallic voice crackles through his headset.
“Their designations: Rumble and Frenzy, Ravage, Laserbeak - Symbionts. Megatron - oldest friend.”
Cosmos stares, eyes wide. Soundwave talks? Because- well, he honestly thought that maybe their kind, the Cybertronians, just, didn’t. Or couldn’t. Guess he was wrong there. But, also-
“Symbionts?” he asks. He knows what the word means, of course, at least in an Earth context, but has no idea what to imagine when it comes to giant shapeshifting mecha.
“True meaning; difficult to describe in English. Closest approximation: dependents. Family.”
Family. Alien robots have family.
“And are they- alright?”
“Affirmative. Megatron- powerful, capable. Symbionts: on assignment, alive, in relative safety. However, they are-“ here, his headphones crackle slightly. It makes Cosmos think of a sigh. “-missed.”
And Cosmos’ heart melts. Because even in that somewhat flat, mechanical voice, he can hear the longing. The same longing which haunts him on lonely nights, turning his skin to ice. Soundwave understands.
Soundwave is alone out here too. Just like Cosmos.
“That’s,” he stumbles on his words, swallowing, “it’s good they’re alright. But… it still aches being away from them, doesn’t it?” he chuckles awkwardly. “At least, it does for me.”
Another crackly sigh. “Cosmos: correct. Cybertronians; Highly social species. Isolation…unpleasant.”
Cosmos sighs too, because- what else is there to add? For a few moments, they sit there in silence, some sort of solidarity stretching between them. Two lone souls, connected only by a mutual understanding and a microns-thin radio frequency. Then, Soundwave speaks.
“Cosmos: good conversation partner.” He says, before his voice suddenly changes. “Your company is appreciated.”
And oh, that sounded different. With most of the stiffness now gone out of the sound entirely, Soundwave’s voice is a smooth, deep baritone, only a faint metallic echo still audible when he speaks. That means something, right? It leaves Cosmos a little choked up, even as a small smile grows on his face.
“I’m glad,” he says softly, looking up at where he knows the camera is. “And, for what it’s worth- I enjoy our talks as well. I- well, it helps me too. A lot. So, thanks.”
“No thanks necessary,” comes from his headphones, still in that new voice. Soundwave’s real voice, he thinks. And- though he still misses his family, misses touch and people like an amputated limb, his heart feels warm for the first time in days.

hypnosis/mind control (kinda) coswave I guess
I like to think that G1 Soundwave and Cosmos have a. Unique dynamic.
Soundwave is absolutely In Love with that little Adamski, but he's well aware that the third-in-command of the Decepticons can't really try to pursue romance with an Autobot. He tries to spin it as a strategic move, saying to Megatron that it would benefit the Decepticons to have another deep-space flier. One who's smaller and sneakier than their current shuttles.
Of course, that leaves the matter of actually getting Cosmos to the 'Cons' side. Normally, that would be done via Bombshell and his knack for rewiring minds, but Soundwave scoffs at the idea of a mindless drone. He wants Cosmos with his spunky personality intact.
So he decides to start trying to implant suggestions into Cosmos' processor. Being a telepath, this is his forté. Cosmos doesn't question why he suddenly has an affinity for blue-and-white mechs, but he does know something is fishy when he finds himself admiring specifically Soundwave on the battlefield.
Cosmos knows he's a telepath, and knows he's probably doing some sort of remote mental manipulation. But he can't let Soundwave know that he knows, so he just kind of... gives in to the suggestions. He "accidentally" fires at his own allies. He gives somewhat incorrect information to the Autobots, and also slips a few valuable communications to the Decepticons.
Eventually, he starts to straight-up recieve orders telepathically from Soundwave, and Cosmos knows he's gotta do something about it. He goes to Perceptor and explains the situation. Perceptor creates a kind of processor filter that will shield certain thoughts and memories from Soundwave, so he'll only know what Cosmos wants him to know. The mental conditioning is left as is, since it doesn't affect Cosmos too much.
With that in place, Cosmos becomes a sort of triple-agent, feeding vague or inaccurate info to the 'Cons while being more loyal to the Autobots.
It's not long after that Soundwave calls him to a remote place, for a "rendezvous". Cosmos finds him sitting alone on a mountainside.
Soundwave, who believes Cosmos is fully wrapped around his finger, makes a (somewhat stiff) admission of love. Cosmos is somewhat taken aback to learn that Soundwave's interest in him is more romantic than anything, but... you know what, to hell with it.
Soundwave gives him increasingly unsubtle directions to touch him, until Cosmos is grinding his closed panels along Soundwave's exposed spike, and it's really thrilling for both of them — Soundwave thinks he has the object of his affection fully under his control, while Cosmos is all too aware that he's the one in charge.
He probably should take the opportunity to shoot Soundwave while he's down and get out of there before any other 'Cons show up, but that mental conditioning keeps Cosmos in place. Heck, even without said conditioning he enjoys his place on top of Soundwave, watching how his servos clench in response to Cosmos' movements.
Cosmos looks forward to more of these meetings in the future.

Uk tf war may be endless yes, but do you think one day soundwave and magnus would ever you know. Leave? (Or hey, what if they accidentally ended up on some abandoned but habitable planet and they just you know. Stayed lost. At the beginning they worked hard to figure out some way back, but as the days went by and they liked the peace and quiet of this world, liked the company of one another, and suddenly their 'breaks' from working out a way to leave grow longer as they put forward more and more time to make their living space more homey, picking up lost hobbies, relearning what it's like not to be constantly killing one another.)
Another question, any thoughts on idw soundmags? Possibly in the non-parallel universe end? (I can't remember if soundwave lives or not tbh, but for this let's say he does) Meg's is dead, many of soundwave s cassettes are dead; loss and heartbreak kinda bring them together somehow?
oh man......... this is very good but soundmags is not the ship for this, that’s regeneration one shockstar baby!
soundwave and ultra magnus are just,, too duty-bound to ever leave is what i believe. this is their whole life, they are basically defined by their devotion and sense of responsibility, which is what makes a ceasefire/tentative peace romance between them so nice because it’s what they Would do, if the comics didn’t have to stick to the status quo of endless war. that one page shows it all; they both want this but don’t for intangible reasons. it’s very simple to change it to soundwave deciding, actually, let’s give peace a try, it’s worth it. i dont think either of them ever even Think of leaving. to continue or to end the war yes but to leave no.
running away from the war and living a quiet life trying to heal together is compelling though, and that’s literally what shockwave and starscream do in r1. they even adopt ravage :3
idw soundmags........... i havent really thought of it much tbh. they feel too far apart? (i also choose 2 believe that coswave is canon) and their characters are different too, idk if idw soundwave would even like minimus/idw magnus tbh. but a tense conversation after megs’ execution (provided soundwave doesnt die this time) would be juicy though.

What about the concept of that affection post you reblogged but like with prowl for the prompt thing???? I'm v bad at coming up with stuff so forgive me
i present:
false starts and casual physical contact, starring prowl, cosmos, and a couple of random, very unimaginatively named OCs. technically it’s future!prowlcoswave, but is currently coswave, ft. three emotionally stunted characters. it takes place a couple months after the end of ‘redux’, (which i still haven’t finished.)
unbeta’d save for spellcheck and a repetitive word detector. ao3 link in the source. feedback is always appreciated!
Of all the things Prowl had ever imagined he might end up doing if and when the war ended, reuniting Decepticons with their conjuxes had never been one of them.
“I mean, we’re not technically conjuxes,” Outburst was saying. “After the siege at the Perseus Veil, Sparknote and I were separated before we could complete the fourth step. So we’re technically not conjuxes. Yet.”
Outburst was very obviously an MTO—likely one of the last batches. He had that overeager, slightly desperate look of a mech who didn’t know what to do with himself off the battlefield, and he was gawking at Prowl as though Prowl was a sparkeater who had decided to sit himself behind a desk and devote half a day to locating a long-lost-almost-conjux.
“Uh-huh.”
“We never even discussed the fourth step,” Outburst said. “And even if we had—I still don’t know what I should do! It’s been half a million years since we saw each other. Sparknote’s been traveling the galaxy and I’ve been spinning my wheels patrolling warworlds. All the stuff he’s seen—how can I even compare?”
Prowl looked over the edge of his screen and peered at Outburst.
“It seems Sparknote has been looking for you as well,” Prowl said. “Changing your designation resulted in the queries being erroneously rerouted.”
“I told—I told him I was thinking about changing it,” Outburst said. “Are you sure that’s the right person? Maybe he doesn’t want to see me. Maybe—”
Wordlessly, Prowl pushed the datapad over to Outburst, who took one look at the image of the Deception named Sparknote (third lieutenant, last assigned to the Alpha Exploratory Corps) and let out a sharp, static-laden exhale. His tactical HUD flashed, and Prowl had a microsecond of warning before Outburst leapt over the desk to tackle Prowl in a strut-crushing embrace.
“It’s him,” Outburst said, as Prowl tried to decide whether to shove the Deception away or return the gesture. He wondered if Outburst could hear his processor spinning. “It’s him, it’s him, it’s him.”
Decision made, Prowl stiffened his shoulders and Outburst jumped back as though he’d been shocked. His leg banged the desk and a datapad clattered to the floor.
“I’m so sorry,” Outburst said. “I just—”
Prowl held up a placating hand as his vision slowly returned to normal. “It’s fine. Good luck with your act of devotion, Outburst.”
Outburst beamed.
Within the hour, Prowl’s shift was finished, and sooner rather than later, Prowl set down his datapads and locked the door to his office. The halls were no more crowded than they usually were—most mechs completed their shifts at the same time Prowl had finished his. Prowl made a mental note to adjust his schedule tomorrow in order to accommodate mechs who needed to see him after hours. Carefully, Prowl navigated the throngs of Decepticons as he made his way back to habsuite.
Since accepting the position of deputy security chief two months ago, the rate of glares and side eyes had dropped significantly. His first week on the station, he had received 39 such looks, up to a high of 988 the week he began his job, to a low of 19 this week.
Prowl opened the habsuite door and stepped in.
His plating was warm where Outburst had embraced him. Not overly so, not nearly enough to be irritating. Just warm.
“Hey.” Cosmos said. The Autobot’s frame was relaxed—he had hardly bothered to turn and see if it was actually Prowl entering the habsuite.
Cosmos usually worked the overnight shift at the comms, since it was quieter, and, Prowl knew, gave him ample time to flirt with Soundwave via comlink.
Prowl grabbed a cube from the dispenser and sat beside Cosmos. He tried to peer over the Autobot’s shoulder to see what he was reading, but Cosmos was simply too tall. After a moment, Cosmos tilted the datapad up so Prowl could see.
“Translating again?”
“Yeah.” Cosmos tapped the datapad. “I’m on the classics—but I’ve got circuits older than the ‘classics’.”
“It’s a relative term,” Prowl said neutrally. “Anything interesting?”
“Unless you’re into uncomfortably saccharine, human, descriptions of forbidden love, not really.” Cosmos paused. “D’you think Soundwave’d get it if I sent him some of these?”
Cosmos held up the datapad.
“You’re not experiencing forbidden love.”
“Hah.” Cosmos gave the datapad one last, irritated look and switched it off. “Feels like it, sometimes.”
“If it helps,” Prowl said, entirely unsure whether or not his next words would actually help. “Soundwave feels the same—about the whole ‘forbidden love’, thing, at least.”
“Oh.” Cosmos gesticulated with the datapad, waving it mere inches from Prowl’s face. “I knew it! You two do talk about me.”
“No more than we talk about anyone else,” Prowl lied, and Cosmos scoffed. “He has shown me a few of the exchanges you two engaged in.”
“I’m gonna kill him,” Cosmos mumbled and tossed the datapad onto the table. “I’m really gonna kill him.”
“I was the one who asked,” Prowl offered. “I wanted to know why he was so distracted.”
“He could’ve lied!”
“I would have known.”
Prowl picked up the datapad Cosmos had been translating and studied it for a moment. Saccharine indeed.
Prowl set it down.
“He needed help,” Prowl said, finally. “Sometimes, he doesn’t exactly know how to reply.”
“Primus.” Cosmos said. “Is that why he sometimes takes two hours to respond?”
Prowl nodded, unsure if the level of embarrassment he was feeling was proportionate to the current situation.
“I was the one who suggested comparing you to the green circuit nebula,” Prowl admitted.
“So instead of overworking yourselves in your off duty hours,” Cosmos began. “You overwork yourselves trying to come up with ways to flirt with me.”
“That is only a small fraction of what we do,” Prowl said.
“Figures.”
And that seemed to be that.
Prowl finished his cube and debated getting up for another, then decided against it. Cosmos’s frame was pleasantly warm against his side, and the mech would be leaving for his shift in a few minutes anyway.
“I liked it,” Cosmos said, finally. “What you wrote. Or he wrote. Your collaboration, I guess.”
“He meant it,” Prowl said, and judging by the tilt of the Autobot’s head, imagined Cosmos was smiling under his battlemask.
“Some forbidden love, “ Cosmos said. “When I’ve got someone helping the guy I’m trying to court. Hey—if I can’t figure out what to tell Soundwave, does that mean I can ask you?”
As if on cue, Cosmos’s comlink chimed.
Cosmos looked at Prowl, then sheepishly looked at his chat log, then equally sheepishly showed Prowl the message.
“Send him a song,” Prowl suggested. “Some of that earth music he likes.”
“Hm.” Cosmos typed his response, and together, they waited.
A moment later, the comlink chimed again.
“He said…” Cosmos trailed off. “To tell you the gesture was appreciated?”
Prowl looked up, half-expecting to see Soundwave emerging from the ceiling.
“Telepath,” Prowl realized. “I told him not to listen to me.”
“You want me to tell him that?”
Prowl shrugged.
“He’s—oh.” This time, Cosmos was the one to look up at the ceiling. “Not listening to you. I’m thinking loudly enough for the both of us, I guess.”
“…ah.” Prowl dared to sneak a glance at Cosmos, who looked like he had just been caught in an uncomfortable, interpersonal crossfire. “You are sitting next to me, Cosmos,” Prowl said. “It’s only natural you would be thinking about me.”
“I know!” Cosmos keyed in his reply and sent it, then turned to face Prowl fully. “It’s just…thinking, y’know?”
“Thinking?”
“Yeah.” Cosmos gestured at the datapad, then at himself. “The way he wrote it, it got me thinking.”
“About?”
Cosmos sighed.
“I think I’m in a little over my head,” Cosmos admitted. “Flirting’s nice and all, but I’ve never been in a serious relationship before. Not one I was really invested in, anyway. It’s never gotten to the point where we actually do anything, and he listens to me, which is fine, so I know he knows I’m thinking about it, but it’s like…I want to, but the concept of it is just so uncomfortable. Does that make sense?”
Prowl thought back to Outburst.
“Yes.”
“I kinda hoped you wouldn’t,” Cosmos said. “Just so I could ask you what I should do. You know, being an impartial, flirting-assistant and all.”
Prowl remembered how Outburst had so effortlessly cast aside thousands of years of war and hate and trauma in a moment of pure, unfiltered reliefs and joy. Would it be possible to learn to do that? Did he even want to want that?
Prowl wasn’t sure.
But Cosmos did.
“I suppose the first step is to get comfortable with casual physical contact,” Prowl said. “And to define casual physical contact.”
“Makes sense,” Cosmos said. “But, I can’t really go up to a random Deception and go hey I’d like to work up to kissing Soundwave, can I practice by giving you a hug?’” Cosmos looked away, then back at Prowl, and Prowl tensed, instinctively dreading the next question, simply because he didn’t have an answer. “I mean, unless you’re willing to, uh, help? Is that the right way to put it?”
“I don’t mind,” Prowl guessed. “I think. I’d…I’d tell you if I did—or when I do, at least.”
That seemed to be the safest answer—better than I don’t know, at any rate.
Cosmos let out a slow exhale. “Okay. Here goes: Prowl. Can I give you a hug?”
He hadn’t expected Cosmos to ask, but he supposed that was the proper way to do it.
“Yeah,” Prowl said. “I mean, yes.”
“Okay.” Cosmos coughed awkwardly. Prowl hadn’t yet decided if that habit was endearing or annoying. “Okay?”
Moving just quickly enough to make it slightly less awkward than Prowl feared it would be, Cosmos moved forward, arms outstretched, and pulled him into an embrace.
A moment later, Prowl realized that he should probably return the gesture, and he awkwardly lifted his arms up to rest on Cosmos’s back.
“Oh.” Cosmos tensed, and for a microsecond his angles and trajectories shifted, indicating Cosmos was uncomfortable, but they settled back just as quickly, and Cosmos relaxed against Prowl’s frame.
“I guess a good hug is supposed to be two-way, huh?”
“It would seem so.” Prowl said dryly. His plating itched, but not unbearably so. He could stay like this for a while, Prowl thought, and realized with some relief that Cosmos seemed to be indicating he felt the same.
“My shift starts in a few minutes,” Cosmos said. “I should really get going.”
But he made no move to pull away, and Prowl didn’t encourage him.

How I feel about this character: i love him. idw or tfp i love him. tfa is meh but. tfp is sppoky and honestly rlly cool like. he was so quiet?? and the data-tentacles and the head-tilt to paych ppl out was COOL
Any/all the people I ship romantically with this character: coswave right off the bat! u got me into prowlcoswave btw asdfghjkl im also a major fan of soundwave/megatron
My favorite non-romantic relationship for this character: uhhh ravage. also starscream? i love friendship and also power struggles
My unpopular opinion about this character: i dont rlly have one abt tfp or idw sw; but i dont rlly like tfa sw but that could just be bc im not a huge tfa fan
One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon: idk abt idw but. tfp sw had more cassetes, or laserbeak wasnt just a drone? major letdown in show, tbh
Favorite friendship for this character: oh i think i kinda did this one, but ravage or coswave. i also think he and prowl could be frenemies given time
My crossover ship: ooh this is hard, i dont usually do crossovera BUT. tfp sw/donnie from tmnt. u may @ me but i may not have answers.

TF: Not alone anymore
(( I adore Coswave. One of my Idw Otp's and decided to do a romantic fluff fic! Ps, here their already in a relationship but not officially conjunx endura yet. I hope you enjoy it's my first Idw Fic 💕)
Cosmos sat upon the large space ship, his feet dangling off the edge as he counted every star in sight. In space you don't have much to do, other then pass the time by counting stars or talking to you'reself. Right now he was doing it because he could'nt quite recharge at the moment.
he pushed away some negative memories to the back fo his proccesor, while letting out a deep sigh.
He was caught off guard when he felt another frame sit next to him."Wha?-" he almost jumped but soon relaxed when he saw it was someone familar. "Oh, Soundwave, it's just you." The Blue mech nodded his head to him. "Little Autobot. How are you?"
The green and yellow spy looked back out ahead of him "Well, you know. Just counting stars here. Kinda felt like it you know? Could'nt really recharge well.."
He then felt a arm wrap around him and pull him close to the larger frame, making the bot's face heat up. "Then I shall watch with you." If he could, Cosmos would be smiling.
He and Soundwave have been in a relationship for about a few monthes now, at first he was awkward, insecure and nervous. As time when't on though, with some assurance and spending some more time with him, he slowly grew more comfortable. It's been a long, long time since he's felt anything like this, to be loved.
Then a voice spoke up "Cosmos." He was pulled out of his thoughts by the bigger mech, soon adjusting his helm up to face him."Yeah?"
Red visor peering down at him, a dark blue servo was brought up to gently caress the side of his face. "I love you" These three words made Cosmos's spark soar and quietly responded back "I love you too." he lightly leaned his head on the cassete players side.
He was'nt alone anymore.

AAAAAAAAAAHH YESSSSS THAT HOW I FEEL TOOOOOOOooo on all the comments over here💕💕💕💕
How do I start with...
(please endure my english grammer, words and everything else 😅)
To be honest I only adores cosmos at first, he is too round and cuddly for a bot (also his colour is my fave hahaha), aside of the way he looks, cosmos was sadly unnoticed, ignored or get push away by others makes me really kinda understands how he feels.
When Soundwave came into his life, it really makes me happy to see that finally someone notice him without getting push away. (Although soundwave's Mini-Cassettes not really happy about it 🌚) Even more better that both of them really cares and understand each other!! if they work together as spies with both their abilities, I bet they will be unstoppable doing impossible mission hahahahaha
I hope that both of them will meet in idw2 with longer relationship or who knows maybe another bot to be with cosmos? (Like the one that we see in the valentine's day comic when he chat with someone and i think it was Blast Off) but then again *for now* I still prefer coswave, they are the best couple I've known.
pls... if you’d like, share the other coswave thoughts???
oh man, i have. so many. none of this is going to be cohesive.
i spend,,, more free time than I probably should thinking abt these two bc like i said a while ago in another post, im in a transformers dnd campaign and one of my player characters is Cosmos and what kind of person would I be if I didn’t try to include Soundwave and the cassettes in there somewhere when they’ve got so much good story potential
but as for y’know, the actual IDW comics versions of them. honestly? poetic cinema. IDW gave us Cosmos, someone who’s never listened to, someone who has more than a couple instances of people just either hearing him but not listening or, even worse telling him to shush. IDW gave us Soundwave, someone with an outlier ability to hear everything, even people’s thoughts.
IDW also gave us Cosmos, who was given mostly spy work, then gave us Soundwave, who was the communications officer for the Decepticons. It always makes me wonder if maybe they crossed paths before and we just never got to see.
Also, in terms of interactions I think about A LOT, when Cosmos was outside Sanctuary Station for the first time, Soundwave didn’t go outside to fight Cosmos. He went out there to invite him aboard. Y’know, “May I invite you in?” Cosmos was just understandably a little jumpy because it’s Soundwave and then we got the very fun overgrown tape deck line.
(Also after the tape deck line, we get the First Instance of “Little Autobot” which is, hilarious, because Cosmos is like just a little shorter that Soundwave when he’s not fuck off huge like in MTMTE, but is also a Really Soft nickname imo)
Actually wait, I’m not done about the first use of Little Autobot. SOUNDWAVE GOT HIT DIRECTLY IN THE CHEST WITH LIKE THREE DIFFERENT MISSLES/PROJECTILES AND THEN INVENTS A PET NAME ON THE SPOT.
Not to mention the Princess Bride-esque “As you wish.”
There’s also this panel.
Soundwave sees Cosmos sorta begrudging(? i dunno, that’s the vibe I get from Cosmos’ expression) look and just immediately basically goes Oh shit, he’s not treated so well. ”Hey stay here.”
I wonder if Soundwave ever sees a bit of his past self in this convo. Or at least, I can see Cosmos saying he doesn’t serve Optimus, letting it slip he’s maybe not treated like an equal among the other autobots, and insistence on talking to Doc even though Jetfire tells him Doc’s ‘just a tool’ (or at least the mention of it with Cosmos’ “Or drones…”) echoing Soundwave saying way back when that he didn’t serve Ratbat and the fact that himself, Ravage, Laserbeak, and Buzzsaw weren’t exactly ‘equals’ back then either, since Soundwave at first didn’t have a good grip on his abilities and that wasn’t any use to the senate and Ravage, Laserbeak, and Buzzsaw were beastformers and were therefore not seen as equals because they ‘weren’t cybertronians.’
I’m also never gonna let go of the lines “You said I could call you, and I think everybody else is dead and I’m all alone and I don’t know what to do and… and… I’m scared Soundwave.” “You are not alone, Cosmos. And there is no reason to fear, little autobot.” because that makes me Soft every single time
There was also always this line that got me bc it shows Cosmos cares about Sanctuary Station (and what it stands for) and what it means to Soundwave just as much as Soundwave does.
Coswave is good because Where Else are you going to get Two Dudes who are both genuinely compassionate and kind but Also people you don’t want to mess with. Soundwave can be terrifying but even the comics describe him as having a heart of gold and Cosmos comes off as genuinely kind and compassionate (which he is) but also has so much sass and has the capacity to be a being of Pure Rage.
#cosmos soundwave#coswave#reply post#I ship a lot of couples in tfs but cosmos will always be my number 1❤️❤️❤️

Spammed the follow button for your coswave content and shenanigans. Absolutely in love with them
Would love to know your thoughts on the way they display affection.
Like, do you think Soundwave had picked up on some of ravages tendencies of affection? Like cats do, butting heads, and being silly
This is such an old ask but I’m gonna answer it anyways. I had a couple of lingering asks in my box so im gonna try to clear them out before my phone dies again and I have to figure out how to charge it with no power.
Soundwave and Cosmos definitely differ in how they express their affections. Cosmos is very physically and verbally affectionate while Soundwave is an acts of service kinda mech.
For Cosmos, being out in space for long periods of time without physical contact has left the poor thing a bit touch starved, so he’ll be as physically affectionate as Soundwave will allow him to be (it took a bit of time for Soundwave to get used to the idea of someone other than his recordicons and occasionally Megatron touching him affectionately, but once he got more used to it he found that he loves the physical affection as much as Cosmos does). Cosmos loves to wrap his arms around Soundwave’s middle and run his servos up and down the other’s back, and generally just touch as much plating as he can. He’ll give Soundwave massages, untangle kinked up wires, really anything can be an excuse to touch Soundwave sweetly! Cosmos also really loves telling Soundwave how much he adores him and how beautiful he is to him. Soundwave, despite the half-hearted protests, loves the praise.
Soundwave displays his affections through acts of service. He will do ANYTHING for the little autobot, from fetching his morning energon to helping him bathe before recharge. If Cosmos takes an interest in something from a different culture or planet, Soundwave will do whatever he can to get it for Cosmos. Cosmos occasionally has to remind his partner that he doesn’t have to do everything for him, Soundwave allowed to be too tired or busy to get him his favorite energon goodies, and Cosmos won’t love him less for not being able to do something for him.
And finally, Soundwave has ABSOLUTELY picked up on Ravage’s ways of showing affection. They both grew and learned how to express themselves through one another, so both of them have almost identical ways of showing affection. Soundwave definitely butts his head against mechs he cares about, and he also love-bites in the comfort of his own hab. Cuteness aggression is real and Cosmos has bitemarks to prove it.
I AM SO SORRY THIS ASK IS SO LATE BUT THANK YOU FOR SENDING IT!!! Gosh I forgot how much I love answering coswave asks ehe , thank you!!! 💚💚💚🛸🛸🛸

Mars... there is no coswave fix it au... there is no good post-war everyone lives au.. please give us your thoughts on the ideal happy ending for coswave
SAY LESS YIKEZ SAY LESS,,
Mars Coswave fixit AU is as follows:
Cosmos goes back to the Sanctuary station with Soundwave post Unicron. It takes them some time to recover but they do bc I said so. Also everyone else is alive including Buzzsaw, Lazerbeak, Rumble n Frenzy, and Sky-Byte. Also Ravage is alive as well. She still hangs out with the Lost Light which is still around and in this universe so that Ravage can visit Soundwave whenever she’d like. Which she does. Regularly.
Cosmos and Soundwave start off as just friends and Cosmos is Soundwave’s number one supporter in getting the Station up and running again. Soundwave feels so safe and secure and genuinely loved by this that it’s kinda easy to just lean in and kiss Cosmos right on his blastmask (which Cosmos is elated to return with a zap of static. They smooch for what feels like hours before finally going to bed warm in eachothers arms).
The Sanctuary Station is thriving better than before. There are Decepticons, Autobots, neutrals, and everything in between taking refuge in Soundwave’s home. Ravage has begrudgingly accepted that Cosmos will be a permanent part of her Soundwave’s berth, and is forced to admit he is quite warm and quite cozy to sleep against. The avians love their new round perch that they can tease and peck at. Rumble and Frenzy find way too much joy in roping Cosmos into their stupid pranks and then blaming him when it goes badly.
Thundercracker visits regularly too. He brings along Buster, specially fitted with a suit that supplies her oxygen, and Soundwave likes how soft she is against his plating. They sit for hours parallel playing—TC writes while Soundwave works on his projects for the Station. They take naps together, and eventually wake up with Cosmos and some cassettes in the pile asleep as well.
Aileron and Arcee come by too. Soundwave considers Aileron a friend and Arcee considers Cosmos a little brother , so they like to have group hangout sessions where they play games and throw stuff at Sky-Byte when he’s not looking.
Starscream and Soundwave form a begrudging friendship that consists of threatening eachother with physical violence when they get on the other’s nerves. Cosmos and Bumblebee get closer because of this, and Wheeljack enjoys the company.
Cosmos eventually asks Soundwave to be his Conjunx because Soundwave is the only one for him. There is no without Soundwave—his spark belongs to the mech and he would do anything to make him truly his. Soundwave agrees readily , breathily, and kisses Cosmos’ mask so hard his lips hurt.
Soundwave’s recordicons are invited to the ceremony , along with Thundercracker and D0C. It’s small and intimate , but it’s perfect for them.
#YES they have kids too#like 3 kids or something#they love eachother and everything is okay#they are happy and in love and it’s perfect and wonderful#and eventually when Rav gets tired of the Lost Light she moves back in fully at the Sanctuary Station#they’re happy#soundwave#cosmos#transformers#maccadam#ravage#cassettes#mars blurbs#coswave#thundercracker#idw transformers
