Thoughts on quarantine & self kindness: I posted a vid in IG stories a week or so about this, but I wanna say it here, too: Please stop pressuring yourself to achieve something during this pandemic if you're having a hard time. You don't have to get fit, create cosplays or content, learn a new language...that's ok. You don't HAVE to be a productivity machine. This is scary & depressing. Ppl are dying, the gvmt is failing to help (& making it worse), we are isolated. Yes, the world has seen worse & this will pass. But that doesn't mean you're obligated to start a freaking 'side hustle" now. It makes me sad that cosplayers I see feel bad bc they don't want to sew right now. & people messaging me about staying motivated?? I'm not trying to tell anyone to get fit, exercise is a major way I deal with anxiety & stress (sometimes to my own detriment). DO WHAT HELPS YOU! Confliction! I designed this new Hawkgirl to be more movie realistic but it's not very comfortable to wear. The cartoony colorful design is a bodysuit of all spandex with a little pieces of worbla armor. And it's much easier to wear. I still have both.... But what to wear to cons? So this is the thing I wanted to show you, and I hope it's a helpful thing 😊 Convertible wings with a 'resting' position! These new wing back braces are actually decorative now, and the wings are attached to the base with a couple of screws. Faux flowers make a perfect cover if you don't want to draw attention to the fact that there is hardware on your back, and the acorn caps look like the middle of flower buds. I think I'll leave it up to the customer to get flowers that match what they want to wear the wings with. Steampunk fairies may want to show it off. I'll have more photos once powder coating is done! ✨🤩✨ The best part is that when the bottom screw is removed and the upper one loosened slightly, the wings are free to swing downwards and out of the way of most elbows and eyes 🦋 I suggest removing that button screw before wearing - trying to keep track of tiny nuts & bolts after a few shots while fumbling off to the side of the masquerade dance floor is not suggested! I WOULD suggest getting a few extras to keep in your pocket or satchel if you think you will want to reposition them a lot. What do you think? Is it worth making the brace more noticable and decorative? This should also not be as bulky when slid into the back of a corset or bodice, since 3 panels can be attached to each side - upper, lower, plus antennae can be layered.
