Tips For Cost Rica Tour: Must Visit For Nature Lovers
It makes sense that travelers are drawn to Costa Rica, given the breathtaking scenery, welcoming locals, and exciting adventures the country offers. This jewel of Central America is the ideal destination if you're looking for waterfalls, volcanoes, and world-class surfing.
Inspired by images of blazing volcanoes, world-class beaches, and rainforests full of exotic flora and animals in Costa Rica? Even us. If you've always wanted to visit this country in Central America, here is some essential travel advice for a Costa Rica family tour to get you there.
It's safe to state that Costa Rica offers a wide variety of experiences for tourists of various travel styles and is among the greatest destinations for families.
Discover Costa Rica's pristine beaches, verdant rainforests, and a plethora of wildlife by traveling there. One can fall in love with this land with ease. Costa Rica is an ideal vacation for adventurers, with its active volcanoes, hiking trails, and heart-pounding activities.
Make reservations well in advance if you wish to travel to Costa Rica during the busiest time of the year. The months of December and January are very busy.
Buses and hotel rooms often sell out weeks in advance, but with enough planning and the utilization of multiple transportation options (like a private shuttle), things can be made work. For extra flexibility, you can also rent a car.
Another stressful week is before Easter, even if it's a great time to view the unusual parades and processions taking place.
Since there aren't many regular public bus routes around the nation and many activities are in high demand and unexpectedly expensive, you might want to think about taking an organized trip. One of the best travel recommendations for Costa Rica is to take a guided tour, which allows you to cram as much as possible into your vacation without worrying about scheduling conflicts or availability.
Try to bring enough colones (the national currency of Costa Rica), especially in smaller quantities, if you're traveling to some of the country's more isolated locations. There aren't as many banking facilities here. Thus, it might be difficult, for example, to change a 5000 note in the central region of the Nicoya Peninsula.
Comida típica, or "native" or "local" food, is the best way to characterize the cuisine of Costa Rica. Despite its simplicity, the taste is nevertheless pleasing.
Backpackers' favorite destinations in northern Costa Rica are Monteverde and La Fortuna, both of which provide fantastic outdoor experiences.
A 4x4 is something you should think about if you intend to drive yourself around Costa Rica. Many important highways remain little more than dirt pathways, even if some are paved. When severe rain falls, you're left with a muddy mess.
Moving eastward rather than westward is one easy way to escape Costa Rica's throng.
By 2021, Costa Rica hopes to be the second carbon-neutral nation in the world. Choose locally owned ecolodges and businesses that, if feasible, engage in sustainable tourism to support its green goals.
Cherish Pura Vida
For the people of Costa Rica, Pura Vida is a philosophy and a slogan for life rather than just a translation of "simple life" or "pure life." Pura Vida is a style of life that emphasizes contentment, leisure, and appreciation of the natural world.
One of the best things to do while visiting Costa Rica is to embrace Pura Vida. This philosophy encourages us to appreciate the small pleasures in life and live in the present, whether we're trekking through verdant jungles, lounging on a white sand beach, or dining locally.

"I had to fight to be myself and to be respected. I'm proud to say I'm a lesbian. I don't talk about it too much, but I don't deny it. I've had to confront society and the Church, which says that homosexuals are condemned. It's absurd! How can they judge someone who was born that way? I didn't learn to be a lesbian, nobody taught me to be the way I am. I was born this way. I've never slept with a man. I've never slept with a man. Yes, I'm a virgin and I'm not ashamed. My Gods made me this way"
- Chavela Vargas
Chavela Vargas (María Isabel Anita Carmen de Jesús Vargas Lizano) was a Mexican singer of Costa Rican origin, born in 1919 in Costa Rica and died in 2012 in Mexico.
She is considered a leading figure in ranchera music, which she sang with strength and emotion. Her voice, rough and warm at the same time, served her theatrical, passionate and human interpretations of standards from the traditional Mexican repertoire.
"And since I have to say it almost everywhere, I'll say it: my parents didn't want me. I suffered for it".
She has an extremely difficult and conflicted relationship with her family, who do not accept her in any way. As a teenager, she left her country and her family for Mexico. The young woman rejected and criticised the ultra-conservative society in which she lives. Once in Mexico, she began singing in the streets.
In the 1940s, she became friends with the painters Diego Rivera and Frida Kahlo, staying with them for a while and becoming Frida Kahlo's lover.
At the age of 30, she was noticed on Mexico City's Avenida Insurgentes by the composer and famous rancheras singer José Alfredo Jiménez, who became the author of her main hits. With his help, she performed in the cabarets of Mexico City in the mid-1950s before embarking on the road to success in Acapulco, an international tourist destination, where she sang at one of Elizabeth Taylor's weddings.
Chavela Vargas rose to fame in the 1960s and 1970s, touring the world. She became a well-known figure in ranchera song, to which she gave a new lease of life.
Dressed like a man, smoking and drinking like a man, carrying a pistol, "the lady with the red poncho, silver hair and brown flesh" as the Spanish singer Joaquín Sabina described her, is characterised by her red sarape.
In a television interview in 2000, she came out as a homosexual woman. This is where the text at the beginning of the post is from!
Chavela's career reached its peak from the recording of her first album (Noche de Bohemia) in 1961 until the end of the 1970s. This was followed by a long period of fifteen years, during which the singer, suffering from a heavy addiction to alcohol, interrupted her musical career, which she did not resume until 1991.
Encouraged by her friend, the director Pedro Almodóvar, who compared her to Édith Piaf, Chavela embarked on a world tour, performing at the Olympia in Paris and Carnegie Hall in New York. Among her most outstanding performances was Tú me acostumbraste by Frank Domínguez in Pedro Almodóvar's film Babel. Being a close friend of Pedro, she has appeared in several of his films, including The Flower of My Secret.
Following a final concert in Madrid on 10 July 2012 to present her album (La Luna Grande), she was hospitalised in the Spanish capital with serious respiratory problems. She died on 5 August 2012, aged 93.
I am sure you know at least one of her song, La Llorona !
In any case, Chavela was an immense artist who had a profound impact on music, and I'm delighted to have discovered her, or rather re-discovered her. I listened to some of her songs and they're amazing if you like that kind of music ! And please look her up yourself, she was such an interesting person, I couldn't talk about everything in this post or it would have been too long !

My heart is so broken to know that I couldn’t buy tickets for #theerastour, I’m from COSTA RICA and my only chance was in the US but I don’t have family members there to have a phone number and create a verified fan account…
However I’ve been watching the film over and over, TikToks of the concert in different parts of the world and I was inspired by the eras tour to create this illustration.
I did it with tears in my eyes and face, I know I can achieve my dreams but the fact that I’m not able to see her is very frustrating and sad.
I wanted to share this piece of art I did and wishing my dreams come true one day.
A lot of years being swiftie, maybe I can wait another 10 years to see you😭❤️💕 I love you. #taylornation #taylorswift #theerastour @taylorswift @taylornation

Why are the Sussex twats suddenly obsessed with Central America and the Caribbean, they’ve been to Costa Rica twice now? And they were yachting in the Bahamas?
That’s a good question. I’ve given it some thought and here’s what I think.
1. Compared to many other places around the world, Central America is pretty inexpensive. We know the Sussexes don’t have the money they pretend they do so someplace cheap is their only option. And we know they can only afford cheap (or freebie) vacations because they aren’t going to the usual celeb hotspots like Cannes, the Med, Italy, or even Hawaii, like they were back in 2019 when they were still in the BRF.
2. They go where the money is. If they can be paid for appearing somewhere or have their vacations comped, they’re on the first flight. Remember, the December Costa Rica trip with the kids was totally comped by the resort they stayed at, which suggests it was a sponsorship in kind. The Sussexes stay there for free, Meghan calls the paps or the hotel calls the local press, and the hotel gets the publicity. And given their reputations, it’s going to be unknown entities (like the random Costa Rica resort) who’ll give Meghan everything she wants for a freebie vacation.
3. The Caribbean is probably because of the royal family. It’s two-pronged. First, any time they’re in the Caribbean having fun, the press reminds us of the disastrous Cambridge tour and the uncomfortable Wessex tour in 2022 for the Platinum Jubilee celebrations. Second, because any time the royal family goes to the Caribbean, Meghan can put out her “we did it first, they’re copying us” stories.

Chavela Vargas
Chavela Vargas, was a mexican singer of traditional songs- rancheras to be exact. After a difficult childhood in Costa Rica, marked by illness, family conflicts and lack of affection, Chavela Vargas moved to Mexico at the age of seventeen, a country she adopted as her homeland. After performing various trades, at thirty she began her activity as a professional singer. In 1961 she released her first album, Noche de bohemia, under the direction of José Alfredo Jiménez. This work would be followed by a long list of albums, until completing the more than eighty that he recorded in his prolific musical career. In Mexico he met the best composers of the moment, and dated Frida Kahlo!!
Rebellious and bohemian, with her rough voice she dramatized rancheras, a genre traditionally sung by men. No one knew how to instill such lacerating passion into the lyrics of rancheras and boleros like her, enhancing the expression of spite, jealousy or anguish with the tearing of her voice. His interpretation of Macorina, a rebellious song from the 17th century, allowed him to play seduce the women in the audience by wearing masculine attire, smoking cigars and drinking tequila.
The excesses with alcohol, her lesbian love affairs, her intense friendships with Hollywood artists and intellectuals, her skills as a shaman, her retirement from the big stages at the end of the 70s and her triumphant return to the cinema, at the hands of the Spanish filmmaker Pedro Almodóvar, made her a legend in life. With more than 60 years of age, and finally having overcome her addiction to alcohol, the singer lived in effect a second golden age from the 90s until her death.
Also before dying she had been touring in Spain, and she was set in dying in México. I don't remember if she was able to do so, but I do think her body is somewhere in the country. She is also famous for the frase: "We mexicans are born wherever the fuck we want" or los mexicanos nacemos donde se nos da la chingada gana
In a more personal note, she was the first queer latina celebrity I ever knew off.

“Onto the bus everyone! Our flight is in two hours, but as it is an international one and we are such a big group, we have to get there extra early!” Ms Bustier says as all her students pile into the bus, Marinette cocking her head at Max, who pats his hoodie pocket, where a glasses’ case lays and she nods, lowering her head and going to her seat next to Alya.
—————————————————————
After a quiet ride to the airport, as it was very early, a stop for coffee at the airport, a very long journey through the airport and a chaotic plane ride, in which a good number of her students got lectured by flight attendants for being too loud, they were at the Juan Santamaría airport in San Jose, Costa Rica.
They met up with their tour bus driver after finally shaking the long line in customs, quickly going in to get to their hotel and take nap before their first tour.
—————————————————————
They did a tour of the historical area in the city on the first day, the city was beautiful, but they all decided to head back when they saw a car on fire while they walked around, much to Alix’s protests
—————————————————————
They spent the rest of the trip on the, much smaller, city of San Carlos, visited the beautiful Arenal volcano, went to one the aguas termales spa resorts nearby, Kim had to be taken to the hospital because he thought it was a good idea to run on the wet floor, made out of rocks, and hit his head, he whined the rest of their days there, because he, the swimmer, couldn’t go into the water!
Max did an experiment with the water’s pH, he had a briefcase with equipment to measure it and everything
Nathaniel refused to go into the water, instead FaceTiming Marc and showing him around the place, Juleka was with him, doing the same thing to her brother, until Rose coached her into the water, that made Nathaniel complain a lot because “us emo artists need to stick together!”
Marinette and Adrien were flirting quietly in a corner, but eventually got roped into a chicken fight by their best friends, Alya and Nino won, solely because of Alya’s willpower, they then were overpowered by Mylene and Ivan, because short girls rule.
Zoe was counting Alix’s time to swim across one of the bigger pools as they chatted about the best hair dye brands
Sabrina, free from Chloe since the blonde was currently in New York for one of her mother’s fashion shows, quickly got in the good favors of children who’s parents weren’t paying attention to them, she understood them, very well.
—————————————————————
They then went to a family’s farm, that had a small airport inside as well, Rose and Mylene were overjoyed to hold baby sloths that appeared in trees nearby, they also got to swim in a river near the family’s house, much to Kim’s chagrin, who still couldn’t swim, Alix was tired of swimming and was climbing the trees, Nino was recording, Alya, Marinette and Mylene were shit talking the conservative grandpa who owned the farm, Rose, Ivan and Juleka were jamming on a corner, Ivan with bongos since he couldn’t bring his drums, Adrien was chilling by the river, his feet dipped in, Nathaniel was drawing everyone, he was currently on Juleka’s hair.
And as they all did their thing, all they could think about is that they didn’t want to go back to the chaos in Paris, but as Max checked his phone and clicked his tongue twice, making everyone’s heads turn to face him and he nods, muttering his transformation words and making a portal, as most of the other heroes transformed, leaving only Alix, who put in an earpiece, in case things got dire and she was called in, Max, Juleka and Nathaniel, who, also put in earpieces, Max dropping his transformation and feeding Kaalki, they all knew their jobs, Max was supposed to create a portal at the signal, Juleka was assigned to create the cover story, and Nathaniel was meant to distract the family if needed, and so they sat and waited.
—————————————————————
The battle was quick and easy, the numbers quickly overwhelming the transformed victim of the day, and so, after Pigella comforted and delivered the victim to their home, Ladybug pressed her earpiece twice, sending their coordinates to Pegasus and giving the signal, and a portal opens in the rooftop they’re standing in, letting they go back to their trip to Costa Rica, but as they drop their transformations, they hear a gasp and a plate shatter, seeing their teacher and a young woman, the owner’s daughter, they recalled, who were bringing over some snacks, and they all came to the same realization:
They. Were. Fucked.

(im hoping this is the right symbol anyway) so i guess I'm gonna geek out for a second about how i think employee housing works at Jurassic Park. In the book it states it takes about 10 hours to boat from Costa Rica to Isla Nublar (though I might change that just for convenience's sake, so we're gonna say maybe about 5 hours. Cut it in half), so my guess is that most employees stay on the island for at least three-day stretches. So up by the Visitor's Center/Civilization, I headcanon that there is a pretty bland and small apartment/dormitory for employees to stay in. In my head, it's really more dormitory than an apartment. My guess is there is a cafeteria/common area on the main floor, and the dorms are just like your usual college dorm setup. Like this:
But with a private bathroom no doubt.
Now, since the vets go out into the field a lot and in the early years of JP the dinosaurs got sick often due to Living, all vets are paired up with a junior game warden to go out into the field with them. So, naturally, Jake and Ronnie are paired up. But in the system, this automatically means that Jake and Ronnie are roommates in the employee dorms. The system works well, they're professionals and they keep it professional while on the island. But Ronnie comes onto the island fresh from Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary in India, she's had zero time on the ground to find a place in Costa Rica. So, when she states her plight to Jake - and after some discussion with his roommate and bff Javy - the two men offer her the third bedroom in their apartment in Puntarenas.
To sum up: Jake and Ronnie are roommates both ways. They spend three days on the island living in Employee Housing together (unless there is some emergency, then their "shift" can be extended) and then three days off the island living in an apartment in Costa Rica.
♦ - quirks/hobbies headcanon
I'll try not to go so long on this answer lol but Jurassic Park Ronnie loves adventuring! She just has a way of finding fun activities everywhere she goes and dragging people along to do them with her. Snorkeling, horseback riding, parasailing, rock climbing, boat tours, white water rafting, you name it she's done it and wants to do it again wherever she is. But this time around? In Costa Rica? It's Jake that she's dragging to all these little adventures lol
Jake, on the other hand, is a foodie. And a great cook. He loves going to the market to look for ingredients and coming up with recipes on the fly.
♥ - family headcanon
Goose and Carole can be alive in this universe....as a treat. They're so proud of their kids, let me tell you. Though they do wish they could see them more. Ronnie is constantly globe-trotting, only home for Christmas every other year it seems. And Brad always has his head in the dirt of Montana or Utah, digging for dinosaurs and trying to become the next Alan Grant. Ronnie and Brad don't talk very much. Access to a phone wherever they are is always shoddy and they ran out of things to talk about a long time ago.
Jake has two sisters, both married with their own kids now. And it's just his mom left at home, his dad having skipped out on them when Jake was small.
Put a symbol (or several) and a character/characters in my ask box, and I’ll give you a headcanon.

Coffee Tour at Doka Farm
In the morning I was treated to a very early, very cold shower in temperatures that were definitely not the 30 degrees of Jaco! I packed my day bag quietly for my tour and then sat in the main living room where there was a little cat curled up asleep that I must not have noticed last night. The driver was right on time for pick up and I was the first person so had my pick of the seats, although he asked me to sit right behind him. I sat there until we arrived at the next hotel for pick up but it was too cold and windy there to do it all day! It was cool to see the city of San Jose wake up and come alive at 6am as we drove through the streets to pick up all the tour participants. Everyone walking around was carrying an umbrella – it was a 100% chance of rain today, and they seem to trust the forecast! One queue at a bus stop ran all the way down the street, around the corner and down the next street, it was organized mayhem! Our driver introduced himself as our tour guide Max who had his first coffee at 6 months old. He told us that the traffic is crazy in San Jose because 2 million people visit everyday but luckily we were heading out the opposite direction. Once everyone was picked up, our last folks were picked up from an airport hotel, Max gave us the itinerary break down for the day. We’d be spending it in the Alajuela province which is famous for its mango which is unfortunately not in season! Our day began with a visit to Doka coffee farm owned by the Vargas family at 5000 feet. On the drive us Max gave us all the facts about Costa Rican coffee – it’s Arabica only, 95% of Costa Rican coffee is exported to other countries, coffee grown at 3000 feet tastes like citrus and coffee grown at 6000 feet tastes like sweet fruits. Max also told us about how he gets woken up at 4am everyday by his 2 cats Catalina and Nutella – one cat has another house though. As we drove further up into the coffee plantations Max explained how coffee productions is one of the biggest industries for migrant workers from Nicaragua. 200,000 Nicas work in coffee plantations in Costa Rica, another 200,000 work in banana plantations, and 200,000 more in pineapple plantations. These migrants get around $20 a day, which is much better than the $4 a day they would get in agricultural work in their home country just across the border. They are also given housing as part of their employment since they do the work that Costa Ricans are unwilling to do. At the Doka coffee farm, we started with our buffet breakfast where I finally tried gallo pinto on my last full day in Central America! I also piled up my plate with fried plantains, sausage slices, a tortilla and some fruit. They had 3 black coffees on offer, made from their own coffee beans. The standout was the Peaberry which I ended up buying a bag of to take home with me.
Max took us on a tour around the plantation, we first saw the peeling machine that has worked for 160 years without electricity and Max explained how the coffee harvest is synced with the school year so that the teenagers can also come to help pick the cherries when all hands on deck are needed. A sack of Costa Rican green coffee beans, washed, peeled and dried, goes for about $300 but up to $4000. In comparison the average price of a sack of Brazilian robusta beans fetches $100 meanwhile the most expensive sack is a geisha tree specialty from Panama which sold for $200,000. The peaberry is also more expensive as it’s a perfectly formed seed but smaller than average, they need to be handpicked out of the regular seeds. Max explained that the sweetest coffee is grown at the higher altitudes, but the honey process can also lead to sweeter coffee. The honey process involves leaving the greasy layer on the beans rather than letting them ferment to wash it off. When it dries, the honey process will take 12 days to dry the greasy layer too whereas the fermented beans would only take 5 days. The beans are all dumped outside in the sun to dry, with the workers walking through the beans with a rake to move them around for even-drying. After the tour we were led purposefully to the gift shop where I purchased the peabery blend for just $9 as well as some chocolate coated coffee beans for Alanna. We then piled back into the van to our next destination - the Poas volcano.

My heart is so broken to know that I couldn’t buy tickets for #theerastour because I’m from Costa Rica and don’t have family in the US for me to have a phone number and create a verified fan account, however I’ve been watching the film over and over, TikToks of the concert in different parts of the world and I was inspired by the eras tour to create this illustration.

Honestly, everytime I see a new photo of Till during Rammstein downtime, he's always in a different place - Dubai, Mexico, Costa Rica, Russia. He's really living his life ro the fullest. Most musicians stay at home after touring because they travel a lot, but you really see nothing and never fully relax whilst on tour, even though you can be in wonderful new cities every night.
Love that for him and no doubt he brings (grand)kids along with him.
On a side note -- myself being from the Eastern block, I've noticed that we have that extra push to travel and see things as much as possible. It really doesn't go away.
Interesting idea, maybe his east-german upbringing indeed factors in with his travel-enthusiasm, but i also think Till is very interested in people, especially in people who are a bit different than others, in whichever way. He must have so many friends and acquaintances by now 🌺
From what i gather from posts during the 2022 tour, he often meets up with the east-european circles (maybe expats from russia?) in various places.
I checked that new pic's original source, but it's in cyrillic and i'm can't read that; not sure if that pic was taken in Russia (which would be.. well..unexpected, given the current situation in the world) or if it's somewhere else..
No idea if family comes along on his travels, he is very private about his family i think, and more power to him, in that way they can at least travel with some sort of normality 🍀

So I will be back either saturday night or sunday in the morning. We shall see.
You all take care and stuff.
