it’s like… what… 12 days before con and I literally just realized FROM THE HOLIDAY ART, that vere has way more going on than I thought… LORDDDDD

cosplaying from visual novels is so… like you don’t realize how much a character actually has going on until you have to study them for days on end.

There is an entire performance plan and choreo in my head for when I make myself a Mayerling dress and dare to compete in it. And it's to Einladung zum Ball from TdV of all things.

I’ve been gone for a little while: 

the reason? 

I’ve been con-crunching and making a Langa cosplay, and painting reki’s skateboard. It’s been a hectic week. 

Fun thing tho! My langa cosplay is gonna have UV lenses, bc i said why not?

So. Uh. My fabric samples for my cosplay showed up! I got them from Fabric Wholesale Direct. They don't have the best range, specifically when it comes to colors, but I wanted to see if the colors would be different enough for it to work out. The price is amazing given the quality of the fabrics.

My conclusion is:

Stretch Taffeta (White)- perfect, it's hard to say anything bad about white. It's a bit see-through, but that's a problem that will be resolved with lining fabric.

Stretch Taffeta (royal blue)- maybe a bit dark, but still works well. I don't love the stretch aspect of it, but it's the only one I thought would work color-wise.

Crepe Back Satin (royal blue)- again, too dark. I'm a bit worried it blends in too much with the taffeta. I can't tell if it will look fine in the finished product given the two will be at different angles and therefore reflect light differently, which might make the difference more clear.

Metallic Lurex Jersey (navy)- I didn't realize it wasn't going to be opaque, but it honestly works perfectly I think. Color is great, maybe a bit dark once again but this time I anticipated that. And I'm okay with it.

Poly China Silk Lining (blue)- too vibrant, a bit too bright. It looks... fine... with the other colors, but I want to look for something that maybe works a bit better with what I'm looking for. Luckily, I only need a yard of this one, so if I need to get it from Joann fabrics or smth, it won't be too expensive.

Last year I was like yes yes yes Imma do two cosplays for a con (Tamaki OHSHC and Gunther b Gunderson from ISWM) it was going to be my first con as an adult and I'd gotten whole weekend pass

Then the con got cancelled before I ever got around to styling the wig and since have had 0 motivation to do so

Both lie incomplete Gunther is missing weapons and Tamaki's wig haunts me

Dress pattern may not be coming at all.

Got a message from the seller that she can't find it and asked if we could cancel the order and if she finds it she'll send it to me free.

But who knows if that will happen.

Guess I gotta look for another one...
