Chapter 10 :3
HAPPY VALENTINES DAY POOKIES <3 this is my Valentine's day gift to you all since I've been sick for the past 2 days :3
TW/CW: briefly talking about what Festus did to Sunni
Tumblr media
“Oh my fucking God, I can't escape him!!” Sunni sighed out, exasperated. The group had stopped by the best restaurant/karaoke place in District 2 for dinner and Sunni had gone to place everyone's orders, despite her childhood friends arguing that they'd do it. She had simply snuck away to place everyone's orders with a shit-eating grin on her face.
“Escape who?” Nero asked, flipping his jacket hood up, with a curious look.
“Please don't tell me it's Festus,” Sejanus begged, looking at Sunni who took her seat in between Nero and Coryo. Nero was on the end, then Sunni, Coryo, Sejanus, Vivian, Dele, Nataila,Viktor and then finally Demitri.
“That's exactly who it is,” She replied, smoothing out her dress as she noticed how it rode up her thigh. She wasn't looking for the wrong kind of attention.
“Alright, that's it, I'm killing him,” Coryo announced, standing up, only for Sunni and Sejanus to pull him back to his seat.
“No! No, no, no, Coryo,” The two protested, bringing him back down. Sunni, deciding to put him in a mild state of shock, sat on Coryo's lap to keep him down. Coryo stiffened and sat up straight, not moving a muscle. He was grateful he had his curls so the others didn't see how red his ears became at her spur-of-moment decision.
‘Well that calmed him down-’ Sejanus thought, mildly surprised to see Sunni being so bold. Coryo barely listened to him anyway and the way Sunni managed to keep him in place and not get arrested made Sej quite impressed. Though he didn't like the method, it seemed to work. He'd talk to Sunni about it later, as to not make the evening awkward.
Swallowing, Coryo pulled out his phone to distract himself and from the blood rushing to his head and praying Sunni didn't feel it. He didn't want her to think of him as weird for getting hard in a setting like this. What would she think of him? Would she cut him off like how Tigris did to Grandma'am’s overwatered roses? Sharply and without hesitancy? He wouldn't have that—not when he was getting close so making her his sunflower.
He decided to focus on making that photo Sej had sent him as his lock screen and photoshop some of the pictures from the protective stalking he and Sej had done to be him and Sunni instead of Festus and Sunni.
“So… what's bad about this Festus guy?” Viv asked slowly to alleviate the tension that had fallen around the booth the group had been seated at.
“So, he's my ex. He drugged and humiliated me at a party the Saturday after midterms were over for believing that he actually loved me,” Sunni explained, leaning into Coryo's chest holding his free hand around her waist to massage the tension out of his hand as her other hand gently spun the rings that added elegance to his otherwise bony hands.
“HE WHAT?!” The group, aside from Coryo and Sej, shouted, making Nero wince in pain.
“Ow,” He grumbled, turning his hearing aids down somewhat.
“Sorry, Nero,” the others said, feeling bad for causing him pain; despite being an otherwise loud group, they did try to keep their surprise low for him so it didn't fuck with his hearing aids.
“It's fine, but Sunni why isn't he arrested?” He asked, waving off the others’ concern.
“No proof or anything to prove it was him; it'd be my word against his, not to mention Sej and Coryo would only have their words against Festus too,” She answered, gently squeezing Coryo's hand which had tightened around her waist. She gently rubbed his knuckles, hoping that would calm him down a little bit.
“Yeah, and Festus’ parents have way more money than ours cause we're only just barely above the minimum amount to be living in the Capitol. If we lost, we would've probably been sent to a lower District like 10 or 11,” Sejanus added, noticing how Coryo mildly squirmed at the talk of money. Biting the inside of his cheek, Sej decided to change the subject. “But enough about that, how did you all meet Sunni?”
“Seventh grade, golf club,” Nero said simply. “And she was only one with a dyed yellow streak in her hair.”
“Cafeteria, eighth grade. I was a new student,” Viv replied, shrugging softly.
“Dele, Demitri, Vik, and I met her in a Freshmen arts class where we learned that if you give her a brush, she gets so focused and-”
“Hey-! Hey, hey, hey, no no no don't expose my secrets!!” Sunni's cheeks had turned bright red when she realized where Nat was going with that. Sej and Coryo didn't know that yet and she wanted to keep it that way.
“What? You mean to tell us that you haven't told them!?” Maxima inquired, raising an eyebrow.
“Told us what?” Coryo asked, putting his phone in his pocket, having finally calmed himself down. Sure, Sunni wasn't the first person to sit on his lap, but this was the first time someone did it to calm him down.
“Maxie, no-!!”
“Maxie yes! Sunni paints realism! Mainly sunflower fields!” They replied, beaming as 2 waiters brought over the group's dinner. Sunni noticed Coryo's attention was immediately grabbed by the smell of food, and she slid off his lap, sitting back between him and Nero as the group sorted everyone's dinner and drinks.
Almost 2 hours later, the group had learned a lot about each other and seemingly grew closer. Except for Nero and Coryo.
Anytime Nero spoke, Coryo would send death glares to him and would tightened his grip around Sunni. Sejanus didn't think much of it as he knew his friend was just being protective of Sunni. Did he find it odd Coryo was protecting her from her own friends? Yes. Was he going to judge him out loud? No, as Sejanus have a desire to live.
By the time everyone paid and was heading back to the hotel and their own homes, Coryo was carrying Sunni on his back as he and Sej made their way back to the hotel, due to Sunni being too tired to walk all the way back herself (and she fell asleep just before they got to the hotel).
By the time the boys got back to their room, after they tucked Sunni in bed, Sejanus passed out on his bed. Coryo went into the hotel room's shower and turned on the hot water. He exhaled shakily and stared at the tent in his pants.
How the hell did Sunni not notice it when she was sitting on his lap?
Tumblr media
Around 5am the next day, Coryo was wide awake and scrolling on his phone. He had barely gotten any sleep, so he wasn't in a good mood already. Sighing, he went to text Sunni and frowned seeing her text back so quickly.
Tumblr media
Sunni jumped a little hearing a knock at her door and slowly came out of her bed. She opened the door and giggled a little, feeling Coryo wrap his arms around her waist. He didn't give her a minute to process what was happening as he scooped her up, making her wrap her legs around his waist and tighten her grip around his neck.
“Cori!!” She squealed out as he shut the door behind him.
“Hm? Yes, Sunshine?” He murmured, looking up at her.
“This isnt gonna make me not ask you what's bothering you,” She laughed out, pushing his curls out of his face.
“But it sure as hell will distract you,” He replied, sitting on her bed, letting her sit on his lap.
“Uh-huh, sure, but quick thing, why are you so cold? You feel like ice,” She inquired with a small frown.
“‘M always cold,” He answered simply, burying his face into the crook of her neck.
“Well, guess what? Cuddling with me means you're gonna be warm,” Sunni told him, playfully pushing him to lay down. Grabbing her blanket, she draped it over herself and him, snuggling him.
Blushing furiously, Coriolanus was grateful that the hotel room was almost pitch black. Pulling her closer to him, he ran his fingers through her hair. He didn't think one person could be so soft and comforting like Sunni was. She was warm, sweet, cuddly, and… non-judgmental. Something Coryo wasn't entirely used to. Sure, Sejanus wasn't judgemental and was nice, Tigris was warm, and Grandma'am was kindhearted but those were the people who he let into his heart. Sunni was different; she dug her way into his heart and refuses to leave. But Coryo didn't mind. He actually liked it for once.
“Gonna tell me what's bothering you now, Cori?” She whispered.
“Nope.”
“Asshole.” Coryo could only laugh. He knew she didn't mean it. She didn't say ‘asshole’ in a condescending way or shove him away. She was teasing him. He had to admit it, to himself at least, he loved it.
"You know you love me," He shot back with a smirk and chuckling as she sat up a tad to see his face as best as she could.
"Cause you're the best," She told him. Coryo felt his ego expand and rubbed her back, soaking up her warmth.
"Mm, nah, you are," He replied, pulling her back down him to keep her close to him.

Serenade of Shadows
I : A Dance of Shadows -> II : Whisper of Deceit -> III : A Symphony of Heartbreak ->IV : Fractured Reflections -> V : Shadows of Allegiance -> VI : Echoes of Decent
Series Masterlist
Tumblr media
Young!Coriolanus Snow x Fem!reader
Warnings : Arranged marriage, HEAVY ANGST, unrequited love, friends to enemies, enemies to lovers
Reader's surname : Flare
Time frame: Before, during and after tbosbas
Synopsis : In the events of Panem's political dynamics and the 10th annual Hunger Games, Coriolanus Snow and her find themselves entwined. Standing at the brink of an enforced union, 6 years later, their mutual trust unravels amidst a damaging misinterpretation, prompting Coriolanus to believe the wrong. As the glacial barriers guarding his emotions begin to melt, a revelation of profound feelings unfolds, initiating a sprint against time for redemption.
The grand ballroom of the Capitol glittered with opulence, a testament to the excesses of power and control. She, who was adorned in a gown of muted elegance, stood beside Coriolanus Snow, a man whose eyes reflected the iciness of the society that had moulded him.
The festivities, a celebration of their union, felt like a masquerade of emotions, each step a painful reminder of a love lost.
The dance floor beneath them, once a stage for shared dreams, now echoed with the hollow sounds of a fractured connection. Coriolanus, draped in indifference, turned to her with a gaze colder than the winter winds that swept through the Capitol.
"Do remember that our union is a political necessity, not a playground for your emotions." His words, sharp as a blade, cut through the remnants of her optimism, leaving wounds that bled with the anguish of unfulfilled promises.
"Coriolanus, please," she implored, her voice trembling with the weight of unspoken pain.
"Can't we find a way back to what we were?"
A scoff escaped his lips, a venomous edge to his tone.
"What we were is inconsequential. The Capitol demands sacrifices, and sentimentality is the first to go."
The cruelty in his words struck her like a physical blow. She felt a chasm widening between them, a chasm fueled by the Capitol's relentless demands and his willingness to succumb to its frigid embrace.
As the night wore on, the symphony of forced smiles and hollow conversations played on, but in the private moments between the grandeur, she attempted to breach the fortress of Snow's indifference.
“Can't you see that we're sacrificing more than just sentimentality?"
Her voice carried the echoes of a heart desperate to be heard, a heart that still clung to the fragments of a love that once defied the Capitol's constraints.
He turned to her, a sneer playing on his lips. "Love is a weakness, Flare."
The words, like acid, burned through her defences. He calls her by her last name, refusing to call by his.
The balcony, once a refuge for shared dreams, now became the stage for the unraveling of her heart. Tears welled up in her eyes, the anguish of his callousness too much to bear.
"Why are you doing this, Coriolanus?" Her plea hung in the air, desperate for an answer that could stitch together the tattered remains of their connection.
He met her gaze with a steely resolve. “Don't be foolish to ask that question again and again. You know why.”
His indifference, a fortress that seemed impenetrable, shattered the last vestiges of her hope. The balcony, witness to the tender moments of their past, now bore witness to the agonizing dissolution of their bond.
"You're heartless, Coriolanus."
His laughter, cold and devoid of empathy, echoed through the balcony.
"Your sentiments won't change our reality. Accept it or suffer the consequences."
The finality in his words landed like a crushing blow. A love that had once defied the Capitol's chains now lay broken and discarded. The dance through time, a once graceful movement, had devolved into a painful and discordant rhythm, echoing the hollowness of their loveless marriage.
As the grand celebration continued below, she retreated into the shadows of her pain. The ballroom, aglow with the Capitol's decadence, became a theater for the tragic unraveling of their connection.
The night was far from over. The masquerade of their union continued, a relentless dance that forced them to confront the haunting melodies of a loveless marriage. Each step on the dance floor mirrored the jagged edges of their fractured connection.
She was a prisoner of her emotions, sought solace in the shadows. The whispers of the past intertwined with the discordant notes of the present, creating a symphony of heartbreak that reverberated through the ballroom.
Coriolanus, detached and composed, navigated the dance with the finesse of a puppeteer pulling the strings. His eyes, devoid of warmth, scanned the room with the calculated precision of a man who had embraced the callousness demanded by the Capitol.
In the quiet interludes between the grand movements, she attempted one more plea, a desperate hope that some shred of humanity remained within the man who had once been her confidant.
"Coriolanus, can't you see what this is doing to us? We're sacrificing more than just love; we're sacrificing our very souls."
He turned to her, his gaze an icy dagger that pierced through her vulnerability.
"Souls are a small price to pay for power. I suggest you learn to accept it."
The words, a proclamation of the Capitol's ruthless influence, left her breathless. She felt the weight of their union pressing down on her, a heavy burden that threatened to suffocate any lingering traces of hope.
As the grand celebration reached its climax, the dance through time descended into a chaotic frenzy of emotions. The ballroom, once a space of decadent revelry, now became a battleground for the remnants of their connection.
Coriolanus, unmoved by the turmoil within her, continued the dance with an air of indifference. The discordant notes of their fractured love played on, drowning out the music of the Capitol's triumphant fanfare.
In the dimly lit corners of the ballroom, her tears went unnoticed. The pain, too private to be displayed in the spotlight of the Capitol's scrutiny, carved deep trenches in her soul.
As the night drew to a close, she, a mere shadow of the woman she once was, found herself standing alone on the balcony. The Capitol, with its glittering facade, seemed worlds away from the desolation within her heart.
Coriolanus, his duty to the Capitol fulfilled, approached her with the calculated demeanor of a man who had shed the vestiges of sentimentality.
“Whatever it is we had it the past, don’t ever look for it, it won’t ever come back.”
His words, devoid of any flicker of remorse, echoed through the empty spaces of her heart. The dance through time had reached its bitter end, leaving behind the fragments of a connection that had crumbled under the weight of the Capitol's expectations.
With a final glance, Coriolanus Snow, now a stranger draped in the trappings of power, left the balcony, leaving her alone with the haunting melodies of a love extinguished. The Capitol's grandeur faded into the night, and she, standing on the balcony, felt the chill of isolation in the air.
As the Capitol slept, shrouded in the deceptive allure of power, she remained on the balcony, grappling with the ruins of her heart. The night, once a canvas for shared dreams, now stretched before her as an endless expanse of emptiness.
In the aftermath of the celebration, the opulent ballroom now lay silent, a stark contrast to the tumult within herself. The masquerade of their union had unveiled the harsh truth — she was entwined in a loveless marriage, a puppet in the Capitol's grand theater.
Alone in the sprawling bedroom, she found herself on the sofa, a cold and unwelcome piece of furniture that mirrored the frigid atmosphere that had settled between her and Coriolanus Snow. The grand bed, adorned with lavish silks and plush pillows, stood untouched, a stark reminder of the chasm that had grown between them.
Her wedding gown, once a symbol of celebration, now felt like a heavy shroud, constricting her movements as she navigated the unfamiliar space. Moonlight filtered through the sheer curtains, casting an ethereal glow on the elaborate patterns of the carpet, each thread whispering tales of a union strained by the weight of Capitol expectations.
As she stepped into the bathroom, the opulence of Capitol excess confronted her. The glass-encased shower stood like a transparent witness to her vulnerability. She turned on the water, hoping its cascade would wash away the residue of the day's trials.
The door swung open, and Coriolanus Snow entered with a casual nonchalance.
His eyes, indifferent to her modesty, met hers in the reflection of the gleaming mirror. The involuntary shriek that escaped her lips was met with nothing more than an eye roll from him. He faced the mirror, a razor in hand, seemingly oblivious to the invasion of her privacy.
“Excuse me ? Do you mind giving me a bit of privacy ?” she protested, the words barely audible over the rush of water.
Coriolanus, razor against his jaw, spared her a fleeting glance, his response as cutting as the blade against his skin.
"You know, Flare, the Capitol may find your attempts at modesty amusing. But let's be clear, you're not even interesting to look at, even when you're trying."
In haste, she sheathed her body in a robe, a thin shield against the rawness of his indifference. The scent of expensive bath oils mingled with the palpable tension, creating an atmosphere that underscored the compromises demanded by the Capitol's opulent facade.
As the echoes of his cruel words reverberated in the room, she chose silence.
The night, meant to be a culmination of shared dreams and whispered promises, had transformed into a haunting symphony of solitude. The echoes of distant laughter from the Capitol's revelry reached her ears, a stark contrast to the silence within the grand room.
She gazed at the grand bed, its expanse an unspoken testament to the distance between her and the man she had once called a friend.
"You're sleeping at the Sofa" he hissed
As she settled onto the sofa, the cushions felt cold and unforgiving.
She gazed at the grand bed, its expanse an unspoken testament to the distance between her and the man she had once called a friend.
The refusal to share a bed, a symbolic rejection that echoed through the silence, carved a deep wound in her heart.
Tears welled in her eyes as she replayed the events of the wedding night—the vows exchanged without sincerity, the applause that masked the absence of genuine joy, and now, the solitude that defined her first night as Coriolanus Snow's wife.
The sofa offered little comfort, its unyielding surface a reflection of the emotional distance that had grown between them. She slept alone on the sofa, the grand bed bearing witness to the ache of a connection lost.
The first light of dawn painted the Capitol in hues of gold, but for her, it offered no warmth. The reality of her situation loomed larger than the grand structures that adorned the city. She descended from the balcony, her steps heavy with the weight of unshed tears.
Days turned into weeks, and the semblance of a life continued. The Capitol, indifferent to the personal tragedies within its glittering facade, carried on with its relentless demands. She, who was once a beacon of creativity, moved through the motions with a hollow gaze.
Coriolanus Snow, now consumed by the machinations of power, remained a distant figure in her life. The corridors of their grand residence echoed with a profound silence, a testament to the emotional chasm that separated them.
One evening, as the Capitol bathed in the twilight glow, she found herself in the Academy library, a place that once witnessed the blossoming of their connection. The shelves, lined with volumes of forgotten dreams, stood as silent witnesses to the passage of time.
In the quiet solitude of the library, Her fingers traced the spines of familiar books. Memories flooded back — shared laughter, whispered dreams, and the unspoken bond that had defined their youth. She closed her eyes, attempting to capture the fragments of a time when love still flourished.
Weeks turned into months, and the grand wedding, a distant memory, held no solace for her. The corridors of their residence, once filled with shared laughter, now echoed with the hollowness of a connection irreversibly fractured.
As the Capitol skyline glowed with artificial brilliance, she stood on the balcony, a silhouette against the backdrop of a city that demanded everything but love. The echoes of their past laughter lingered, mingling with the distant hum of Capitol life.
Coriolanus Snow approached, his gaze fixed on the sprawling expanse below. The balcony, once witness to their private moments, now served as a stage for the remnants of a connection that refused to be forgotten.
"The Capitol's demands grow more strict, could you stop acting all sad, asking attention from the public ? It’s pathetic, we must play our parts better, give the Capitol what they want so-” he remarked, his voice a detached melody that echoed through the night.
“So you can get more power ?” She scoffed
“What more do you want from the people now that you’re President ?”
A bitter smile played on her lips. "Our parts, Coriolanus, are nothing more than roles in a tragic play. The Capitol demands perfection, but it has no regard for the cost."
His gaze, cold and unyielding, met hers. "Cost is not important when compared to the splendour of power. You knew the rules when you entered this dance, Flare."
The balcony, bathed in the soft glow of Capitol lights, became the theater for a final act. She was weary and disillusioned then locking eyes with Coriolanus Snow — a man she once loved, now a stranger draped in the trappings of power.
"Coriolanus, I once believed in a world beyond the Capitol's expectations. But we are prisoners, dancing to a tune composed by a heartless regime."
His laughter, devoid of warmth, cut through the night. "Prisoners, perhaps, but also architects of our destiny. Embrace the role, or be swept away by the currents of irrelevance."
The question hung in the air, a heavy cloud of unspoken tension settling over the room. Her voice, though calm, carried a subtle edge as she uttered words that dared to touch the forbidden.
"Would it be different if she was the one to marry you?"
Coriolanus Snow, his features frozen in an icy mask, felt the room temperature drop several degrees. The mere mention of Lucy Gray Baird, the elusive victor of the 10th Annual Hunger Games, was like a sharp dagger thrust into the depths of his guarded emotions.
His eyes, usually cool and composed, flared with a sudden anger that he struggled to conceal.
"You dare bring her up?" The words hissed through clenched teeth, each syllable dripping with a venomous disdain that seemed to materialize from the depths of his resentment.
Though she was well aware of the sensitivity of the topic, pressed on with a quiet determination. The room seemed to shrink, the walls closing in as the weight of unspoken histories loomed.
"She's the one you cheated the Games for, isn't she? The girl you loved and then conveniently let disappear,"
she continued, her voice unwavering despite the storm brewing in his gaze.
A cruel laugh escaped him, devoid of any genuine mirth.
"You think you know anything about her? About us?"
The tension crackled in the air as he paced, the room feeling suddenly too confined. His anger, a turbulent undercurrent, sought an outlet in biting words.
"Let me make something clear, Flare. Lucy Gray was never meant for someone like you to understand. She was extraordinary, and you…"
He paused, his gaze sweeping over her form with a disdain that cut through the air.
"You're just a pale imitation, desperately clinging to a reality you can't grasp."
Though wounded by his words, she refused to back down.
"And yet, you married me. So, why don't you tell me, Snow ? Would it be different if she was the one standing here in this lavish room, wearing this elaborate dress, playing the part I am assigned ? "
His eyes, stormy and unforgiving, locked onto hers.
"Maybe she would have had the decency not to bring up the past to throw your own indiscretions in your face."
The words hung in the air, an unspoken challenge between them. The room, once a sanctuary, now bore witness to the unraveling of a carefully constructed facade, revealing the cracks beneath the surface of their strained union.
Undeterred by the venom in his words, Seraphina met Snow's stormy gaze with unwavering determination. She fought back, her voice cutting through the charged atmosphere.
"If Lucy Gray was so extraordinary, then why is she not here ? If she really loved you, wouldn't she have stayed ? Or maybe, she vanished because she realized what a heartless, cold creature she had involved herself with."
Her words, a counterattack fueled by the fire of her own pain, struck at the heart of his defenses. Snow's stoic facade wavered for a moment, a flicker of vulnerability surfacing in his icy eyes.
"You want to believe in a love that never wavered, but you're deluding yourself. Lucy Gray saw through you, just as I do now," she declared, her voice steady despite the turmoil within.
The room felt like a battlefield of emotions, each word exchanged a weapon aimed at the other's vulnerabilities. Seraphina pressed on, refusing to let his harsh words break her spirit.
"And here we are, in this grandiose room, in this sham of a marriage. You can't escape the fact that I am your wife, Coriolanus, and no matter how much you resent it, I'm not going to disappear like Lucy Gray."
A bitter smile played on her lips, a mix of defiance and resignation. The Capitol lights outside seemed to dim in comparison to the intensity of their verbal clash. The echoes of their unraveling union reverberated in the silence that followed.
The room, once a symbol of their forced unity, now stood witness to the fractures that no extravagant facade could conceal. She turned away from the balcony, leaving Snow to grapple with the lingering echoes of her words and the stark reality of their entangled fates.

"Doll, what's wrong?" Coryo inquired, running a gentle hand down your spine. His touch was cold and comforting due to your head throbbing in pain from studying your high school and college coursework.
You felt drained and simply leaned into his touch, sighing.
"All this fuckin' work, it's killing me," you told him, pushing your books away from yourself.
He hummed for a moment before turning your chair to face him and pulling your head up to meet his sharp gaze.
"I see... and why is it killing you, dove?" He murmured, lazily caressing your cheek with the pad of his thumb.
"It's just stressful having to study grades above me," you answered, feeling your body's tension leave you as Coriolanus continued his simple touches.
Another hum and his icy blue eyes softened, finding no reason to not believe you and ignore the doubts that continuously lingered in the back of his mind.
"You're doing great, Doll, even if it doesn't feel like you are. I'm proud of you," He reassured, planting a soft kiss on your forehead before taking your hand in his. "You deserve a break. Come. We'll do one of your hobbies before my meeting."
"Coryo, what did I do to deserve you," you breathed out, hugging his arm as he pulled you from your seat and out of your study your parents had made for you.
"Be honest," He answered, half-serious as his lips quirked into a small smile seeing you relax already.

CW//saloon fight, western time period, poker, mild sa (like almost touches but nothing more), implied sh00ting threat, Billy is his own warning for being so hot, mentions of abusive ex, rape mention
She smiled to herself as she watched her brother Jesse play poker as she took a shot of whiskey sittin' in her chair like the cowboys so one caught sight of a woman planning to get in on the next game. What she didn't notice was that a man, around 2 years older than her, was watching her as he played. His gaze seemed predatory and observant as he played-like he didn't really feel like focusing on the game.
He took a shot of his whiskey as he showed his cards, and Jesse slowly set his down. He lost, and he looked pretty pissed about it. He frowned, clenching his jaw. He half-expected it but had some hope that'd bring home somethin' to his ma and Joe since Henry was injured. As Billy got up from his seat and place his hat on his head again, he noticed an oddly small cowboy take the seat that his opponent, Jesse, had been sittin' in as Jesse gathered his winnins.
"She's gonna get herself found out," Jesse murmured laughin' to himself. Billy snapped his head to Jesse, his brows furrowed in confusion.
'She? She who?' The brunette thought before turning his gaze to the mysterious she at the poker table. She had put a rather large sum of money on the table, causing Jesse to raise his brows, surprised. "She never bets that much."
'She's a regular poker player?'
As the game proceeded, the mysterious she kept quiet, only making noise to clear her throat or move away from one of her opponents that seemed off and tried to lay hands on her more private areas.
Billy kept a frown on his lips as he watched her discomfort, but every moment he went to go shove a man off her, she'd shoot him a glare as if to say 'if you expose me, I'll shoot you.'
As the game came to a close, she smirked, gathering her winnings as she won more than Jesse. The other men bet more in this game than the last one and were surprised to lose a quite hefty amount. The men were genuinely shocked, thinking they lost to a 15 - or 16 year old boy. One man, however, looked pissed and as the mystery girl began to stand after pocketing her winnings, he grabbed her arm pulling her down to the table, knocking her hat off and letting her lustrous curls unfurl from her messy bun that was tucked neatly under her hat. The curls fell around her face, and one strand fell in front of her face. Smiling awkwardly, she stayed still.
'Well shit,' She thought, freezing as the man froze. The gambler lost to a woman, and he was furious. A WOMAN beat his ass in poker, a men's game.
The saloon was dead silent as the sound of her hat hit the ground seemingly echoed.
"Now, sir, there's no need to violent its just poker," She said, trying to wiggle her arm free, only for the man to tighten his hold. 'Okay, maybe I'll need Jesse for this,' She thought, glancing to her brother and his friend.
"You beat me in my game. No one ever beats me," the gambler growled, grabbing his gun and bringing it to her temple. The man's words sent Billy's mind to the night Carlos was shot for winning and for being Mexican. He wasn't having a repeat of that. Before he could think, Billy spun his gun out of the holster, shooting the hole through a broken window, hitting an old crate which exploded due to the force of the bullet hitting such a delicate and old thing.
The sound grabbed everyone's attention, even the gambler who dropped his gun in surprise. The saloon was still in silence, watching Billy's next move.
"Let her go," He said, moving his gun and aiming it at the man's head. The mystery woman smirked in approval of Billy, liking how he was handling it. "I don't wanna have to kill you, so just let her go."
Out of pure fear, the man dropped his gun and let go of her, causing her to fall onto the floor with a hard thud.
Standing up, she brushed the dirt off her jeans and grabbed her hat, swiping the dust off.
"Gentleman," She commented after a moment of silence and bowing, exiting the saloon with Jesse behind her and Billy behind both of them.
As the three walked in awkward silence, she put her hat on, ignoring the stares from other women at her boyish appearance, aside from her cerulean eyes and ginger locks that had been pulled into a braid down her back.
"I suppose I should thank you," She uttered, smiling towards Billy and turning to walk backward, now following Jesse based on the sound of his footsteps.
"'S nothin'," Billy told her, shrugging as he walked behind her, but noticing her bruised arm as she pulled her over shirt off to check on the bruise. "You gonna be okay?"
"Oh I'll be fine," She answered, shrugging off his concern. "This ain't nothin' compared to my last man."
"Last man?" He repeated, staring at her puzzled. "What happened to him?"
"Jesse ran him out of town for trying to marry me while I was seventeen. Stopped him from rapin' me too," She commented. "Ex was awful."
Billy stared at her, surprised at how she could be so calm about it. Then he thought of something; she was so calm about it as if it was nothin' more than picking flowers by a river. It reminded him of how calm and unbothered he is to murdering, at least small animals and people who truly deserved it. He smirked a little before extending his hand to her to shake.
"Billy Antrim."
"Violet Evans."

"please— fill me up. i'll do anything—" you whined. Your begs and pleads made his ego bigger, and also, put a smirk on his face.
He chuckled lowly to himself, his cock twitching inside you, "Wonderful. you'll look so beautiful when i breed you." he said, pressing soft kisses to your neck as he continued to thrust.
Was only a matter of time before the president soon had an heir. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Chapter 4 :3
CW/TW: murder talk
Tumblr media
As the next 3 months went by, they were semi-peaceful. Sunni was happy, floating between her friend groups/study sessions and painting in her free time. When Sunni wasn't around Festus, Arachne, and Clemensia or Sejanus and Coriolanus, she'd be painting in her room or the empty art classroom after school.
Coryo and Sej were constantly following Sunni when she announced she was going with the girls, which almost always included Festus. They'd pretend they were doing school work for photography, when in all actuality, they were taking pictures of the 4 together to make sure Festus or the girls weren't getting handsy. It was unlikely for Arachne or Clemensia, but the duo had a feeling they two girls had something going on. If they were caught, which only happened twice, they claimed it was part of a club or taking photos for the art classes to use as references.
On the morning of 4th week's Sunday, Sejanus and Coryo agreed that it was time to tell Sunni why she shouldn't be sound the other 3.
"Morning, Sej!" Sunni greeted, sliding down the railing that led into the foyer as Sejanus trudged his tired body to the kitchen.
"Mornin', Sunni," He greeted with a yawn and stretching. "Listen, we gotta talk."
"About what?" She asked, grabbing a bowl of fruit from the marble and gold lined countertop. She grabbed herself a plate and began to add some waffles to it.
"About your... friendship... with Festus Creed," He told her, grabbing a plateful of pancakes that the Avoxes had made. Sunni giggled as she poured syrup on her waffles.
"I think you mean relationship." Sejanus almost choked on his pancake from how hard he had coughed. Her what now?
"Your... what?!"
"I'm dating Festus!" She exclaimed, beaming up at Sejanus before grabbing a fork and beginning to dive into her breakfast.
Sejanus had never been more horrified in his life. His cousin is dating FESTUS??? He'd rather her date his best friend over Festus.
"Tell me you're joking."
"Nope! He asked me out a few days ago; he asked me not to tell you or Cori—oh by the way, I gave Snow a new nickname! Better than calling him Coriolanus, ya know?" She began to ramble, and Sejanus felt like he was going to explode. He was going to wring Festus' neck like a wet rag.
Tumblr media
"She's WHAT?!" Coriolanus yelled before Sejanus cover his friend's mouth.
"Shut up!!" He hissed, looking around to make sure no one heard him
"Sorry, but she's dating Festus?! The dirtbag player?!" He asked, lowering his voice.
"Yes, unfortunately! I'm gonna wring his neck out-" Sejanus began before taking a deep breath to calm himself down. No one needed to hear his murderous thoughts yet.
"I'm getting the shovel," Coryo stated, standing before his icy stare landed on the couple. Sunni was giggling and laughing as Festus was pressing kisses all over her face. Jealousy shot through Coryo's body like caffeine. He was going to kill him.
"As much as I want you to, no. We can't go to jail," Sejanus replied, pulling Coriolanus down again to sit.
"Jail will be fine-"
"Bail fees. Remember what happened last time you went to jail?" Sejanus inquired.
"Shit. Well, what do we do then? Wait it out?" He asked, hoping Sej would have a plan.
"Double down on our... protective measures. But we can't do much without the possibility of Sunni catching on."
"Wait, isn't Clemmie hosting a party next week? To celebrate the end of mid-terms?" Coryo asked, getting an idea.
"Yeah, why? You got an idea to expose them for the phonies they are?"
"Yeah, it'll take a bit to put in motion, though. And before you ask, no, there's no murder. That's plan C."
"What's plan B?"
"Your idea."
"What idea?"
"Whatever idea you think of during midterms."

A/N: Chapter 2 and Sunni, btw, is based off my innocence/ignorance before... ahem... wattpad. YES I WAS A WATTPADER BUT IM A BETTER MAN NOW
CW/TW: Obsessive/possessive Coryo, implied possible SA, drugs, manipulation
Tumblr media
Sunni was humming as she waited for her test results. She was watching her favorite anime, Tokyo Ghoul, and smiling every time Hideyoshi came on screen. She always considered herself to be a Hide kind of girl, always smiling and happy.
"Ms. Plinth?" Sunni looked up, turning her phone off and putting it in her pocket.
"Yes, Dean Highbottom?" She replied, sitting up.
"Welcome to Panem Academy. You aced your exam," the dean said, handing her the exam sheets back as a smile grew on her face. She beamed happily, taking the exam sheets back politely and shaking her new headmaster's hand.
"Thank you, sir," She replied before he shooed her off to the office to get her schedule. Sunni was squealing to herself as she made her way to get her schedule. She couldn't wait to see the look of excitement on Sejanus' face!
"Well, well, well," a sudden voice came, pulling Sunni out of her excited pace. "You must be Sejanus' Plinth's little cousin."
Sunni giggled, pushing her brown hair out her face as the newcomer called her Sejanus' little cousin. She wasn't little by any means.
"Well, I dunno about little, but yep, that's me!! Sunni Plinth," She introduced, extending her hand to the mystery man. "Spelt with an 'i' not a 'y'."
"Festus Creed," He introduced, taking her hand and bringing it up to his lips to gently kiss her knuckles. "It's a pleasure to meet such a beautiful woman."
Tumblr media
During lunch, Sunni could be seen with Arachne Crane and Clemensia Dovecote, and Coriolanus didn't necessarily mind it because the girls were his "friends." What pissed him off, however, was seeing Festus being so close to her. Making her laugh and having her full attention made his blood boil, and yet... he had no idea why. He had just met her and had no knowledge of her aside from her being Sejanus' cousin.
"Hey, Coriolanus! Sej!" She called, waving him and Sejanus over. The two boys looked at each other, wondering what the fuck she was doing with people who would fully take advantage of her kindness, and joined her at the table.
"So how'd the test go?" Sejanus asked, taking a bite out of his sandwich while trying not to glare at Festus for having an arm around Sunni's shoulders in a very romantic way.
"I aced it!" She replied, beaming and pulling out her graded exam paper and sliding it over to Sej and Coryo.
"Oh me, oh my, looks like you'll have to fight for top spot, Snow," Arachne mocked, taking a sip of her drink as the blonde's eyes scanned the paper.
'Pretty, smart, and innocent as can be,' Coriolanus thought. 'I need to get her away from Festus.'
"Mm, perhaps," He mused in response to Arachne, popping a grape into his mouth.
"Well, whether you do or don't, I don't think fighting for top spot really matters," Sunni interjected, taking a sip of her soup from her silver spoon. "After all, we're all smart in our own way."
"Oh, sweet simple Sunni," Clemensia began, shaking her head. "You'll understand what Arachne means soon enough."
"We have to be smart in every way here. Otherwise, we drown in a sea of work," Festus added, taking a bite of out of his apple.
Sejanus were seething. He wanted to push Festus off Sunni and yell at him for being anywhere near her. Sunni didn't need his bad influence on her—she didn't need to get into drugs or have a forced first time with him. He would do everything in his power to keep them separated.
But Coriolanus? He was plotting. Plotting how to get rid of Festus and get Sunni to trust him. Yet he couldn't figure out why he wanted to protect the ball of sunshine who was named after a plant. He just felt like he had to. Like he needed to.
Glancing at each other, the two friends nodded curtly to each other. A silent vow to protect Sunni no matter to the cost.

Chapter 5 🕺
We boutta fly through these next few chapters to get to my lore idea so I never forget it 🫡
Tumblr media
As the week of midterms went antagonizingly slow, Festus and Sunni were arguing, which pleased Coryo and Sej, but they didn't show it when Sunni told them about their most recent fight in the art room.
"What? Fes, why would I abandon Sej and Cori?" Sunni asked as her boyfriend watched her sketch out her next painting. She was sitting by the window, getting a headstart on the painting for class. Her teacher had wanted the class to paint the people, things, or places that made each person happy. Sunni, being the overachiever that she is, had to work twice as hard because of what she had planned.
"Because, my darling, they don't understand the love we have for each other. They hate us for it. Did you forget how Sejanus reacted when you told him the news?" Festus drawled, not really wanting to be here. The art room smelled awful to him; all the oils and paints? Not for him, but he dealt with it that way she didn't think he didn't love her. Well, he didn't, but Sunni couldn't find that out. Not yet.
"They don't hate us, it just came as a shock cause we've only known each other for about 3 months," She replied, setting her pencil down to look up a photo she had taken of her center piece.
"And how do you know what? Did Sejanus tell you that?" Festus snapped, a frown appearing on his face.
"Yeah, actually," Sunni sassed back, glaring at her boyfriend. "Say Sejanus' name like that again and see what happens."
The pissed off look was surprising to Festus; all he had seen Sunni do was smile, laugh, beam, and grin. He had to tread lightly when talking about her cousin because if he wasn't careful, she'd pick up on his true nature.
"Right, sorry, love," He said gentler, earning a bright smile of approval on her face before turning back to her work.
"I don't forgive you just yet, Fes, you'll have to earn your forgiveness."
Coryo had grabbed his shovel, as the three of them were in his family's apartment when she told them, but she told him no and bapped him on his head like he was cat.
It was like a factory reset for him; he hadn't been touched like that since he was a kid, so it had worked, and he sat back down, putting his shovel back in his closet, mumbling a quiet fine.
"Has he been working on improving?" Sejanus questioned from the floor, running a hand through his hair.
"Yeah!! He's not a total ass like you guys say," She replied, beaming. "Yeah, he has his moments, but he's super sweet!"
'I could be better for you, Sunni. Better than that lowlife player and cheater,' Coryo thought, pulling his white hood up to rest on his head before glancing at his notebook that was squeezed into his mattress. How Sunni hadn't seen it yet, he had no idea, but was he grateful she hadn't? Yes. Yes, he was.
"Sun, it could be a front; he could still be a bad guy," Sejanus warned.
"Yeah, yeah, I know, but he's changed! I know it!"
Tumblr media
Then the party came. The boys plan to have a sideshow exposing Festus to the entire senior class during the party was ready, with photos (comprising of from texts to photos of Festus on dates with different girls) from sophomore year as proof, was ready and on a USB drive.
They were dressed in casual-ish clothing. Sejanus was wearing black jeans and a baggy band t-shirt. He didn't feel like dressing all nice like people usually expected him to do so—he also wanted to blend in as most of their class loved wearing band shirts on no-uniform days and since this was Clemensia's party, there would be no-doubt that a lot of people would be wearing band t-shirts.
Coryo, on the other hand, was wearing blue jeans, which had rips up and down them but he didn't really care; they were styled that way so people wouldn't pick up on his financial situation and he looked good in them too. He wore a large short sleeve plain white shirt and an oversized dark red hoodie over it with a gold chain he borrowed from Sejanus around his neck. He liked his simplicity. Not too "poor-looking" and not too fancy either. It was a perfect mix of what he needed to show and comfort.
The boys were waiting for Sunni by the door of the estate, and when they saw her, Coryo's jaw hit the Titanic.
Sunni had curled her hair a little, just to make it bouncy, and was wearing a white dress where the sleeves rested on the arms instead of the shoulders. It came down to the middle of her calves. She was wearing gold-coloured heels, which were the kind you had to tie on you, so you didn't fall out of the shoes. The only accessory she had was a silver necklace that had a jeweled sunflower.
She looked stunning. She was way too good for Festus. She was a goddess. Someone to be worshipped. Not be manipulated by Festus.
Coryo tried to speak as Sejanus answered the door.
"Festus!!" Sunni exclaimed, seeing him at the door. She giggled and wrapped her arms around her boyfriend's neck, kissing his cheek, as Festus embraced her body.
"Hi, baby," Festus greeted, smiling and sending a triumphant smirk to Sejanus and Coryo as the two glared at him.

“passed history with flying colors”— my sibling in christ, slavery ended before billy was even born.
Okay one, ty for calling me sibling bc I usually get called fem things and it just angers me so ty for not doing that and secondly this was also the first thing that popped into my head/nm/gen
Also he was born in 1859
Slavery ended in 1865
But the US has never really been abt moving forward unfortunately (I hate it here ;^;) and it's never said Billy's age in the show, only that it's 1877 currently 🤷🏽 (also I wrote it at like 12-1am and didn't post it until later so I could check for grammatical errors)
And this isn't neg in any way :) also remembering and passing are 2 different things

Chapter 7
So how we feelin' about I.E.D Coryo 😃 I figured it makes sense :3
Small sidenote, Sunni is chubby in her face and tummy, but not really anywhere else. She's kinda... small but chubby (?)
Tumblr media
When Sej was told that Sunni was awake, he almost teleported to her side, and hugged her tight, squeezing her as tight as he could.
"Hey, Sun," he greeted, mildly out of breath from running across the estate to come see her.
Sunni merely smiled in the embrace, leaning into his touch and snuggling into him. She was rather short, standing at a mere 5'2", so compared to Sejanus, she was rather tiny—even with her slightly bigger frame.
"Hi, Sej," She whispered, her throat sore from whatever the fuck happened after she had puked last night.
"How ya feelin'?" He asked her, holding her face in his hands.
"Terrible. Gross. Sticky. Like I need 20 showers to rid of the feeling of him on me," She replied, sitting up somewhat. "God... why didn't I believe you when you warned me... Sej, I'm sorry-"
"Hey, hey, hey, it's okay. I should've warned you when you texted me that you were coming to the Capitol. It's my fault for not remembering to," Sejanus interrupted, sitting next to her.
"You still warned me. I should've listened to you. You're normally right about these things and Festus... he had me wrapped around his finger..." Sunni sighed, looking at her hands, silently counting the freckles that decorated her arms. "Maybe I am too stupid to be here."
"Sunni, you're not stupid," Sejanus reassured. "Everyone makes mistakes."
"But I'm naive; I took your words with a grain of salt and look where that got me! Drugged, puked, and publicly humiliated. Festus created the game and I played right into his trap—he won," She countered, miserably.
"Actually, Festus lost. Especially when I beat the hell out of him," Coryo corrected, holding Sunni's breakfast tray as he stood in the threshold of the door. "Sejanus had to pull me off of him, but eh, he'll live."
The room filled with the scent of blueberry pancakes and syrup, followed by bacon, hashbrowns, honey tea, and scrambled eggs. Coryo walked I'm, setting the tray on the bed, over Sunnis lap, being careful not to graze anywhere he shouldn't. He then took his seat back in his chair.
Her stomach growled loudly, and Sunni immediately dug into her breakfast, as she hadn't realized how she was literally starving.
"What happened? After I puked?" She inquired between bites. Sej and Coryo shared a look, silently conversing about who would tell her what.
"Well, after you puked, Festus continued to degrade you. We were holding you, trying to get you to focus and make sure you could hear me. Then he said something about... your body weight, and well..." Sejanus trailed off, seeing Coryo get his phone out and open his gallery.
"I did that," the blonde finished, showing Sunni a photo of Festus being bloodied, bruised, and with a clear broken nose and broken fingers. Sunni didn't flinch, though, or look disgusted as she continued to eat.
"Damn, Cori- did you let him get up?? At all?" She asked with a hint of teasing in her tone.
"Nah. Sejanus had to pull me off him once he got you sitting by a wall where no one could see you unless they were searching for you." He waved off the topic dismissively as he closed his gallery, giving Sunni a glimpse of his wallpaper; a blonde woman who looked a tad older than him and an elderly woman.
Coryo put his phone away as Sejanus continued to speak, and Sunni noticed that Coryo's dark red hoodie wasn't anywhere near him, which was odd, considering he never went anywhere without it.
"Once we got you back here, we told the maids what happened as they took you to get cleaned up and put to bed. Coryo and I stayed here for when you woke up so we could explain what happened. Oh, your mom's on her way here to talk with Ma and dad," Sej added, earning a nod from Sunni.
Sunni put her fork down, feeling tears build up in her eyes again. They had stayed with her the whole time and even took care of her. She had no words to express her gratitude for what they did, so she ended up breaking down in tears, saying a bunch of jumbled out sentences, comprised of "I'm sorrys", "thank yous", and other words the boys couldn't make out.
They both embraced Sunni, telling her it was okay and that she didn't need to worry about them being mad.
God, what did she do to earn these two to be so loyal and understanding?
Tumblr media
The next day, Monday, Sunni was getting ready for classes. Despite the massive headache she still had from Saturday, she wasn't going to let Festus, Arachne, or Clemensia think they got to her. Not even with her mother's very tempting offer to come back home to district 2 for a little bit to relax.
As she grabbed her uniform from the closet, she saw a dark hoodie next to it. Curiosity tickled her mind and when she grabbed it, she saw a note pinned to it.
" 'Hey, Sunshine. Figured you could wear this on Monday; it gets pretty cold after midterms, so I want you to wear it. Not to mention that red's a nice color on you. -Coriolanus Snow' " She read quietly. The tips of Sunni's ears burned; she didn't think Coryo would just give her his hoodie—especially not his favorite one.
She changed into her uniform, and once she slipped on his hoodie, she felt her blush grow. It was huge and came down to her knees, whereas on Coryo, it came down to his midthigh. She felt safe in his hoodie, loved even. The smell of Cori infiltrated her nostrils, and she hugged the hoodie.
Coryo was making her smile, even without his actual presence.
