10th of Tuesday, 6th Umbral Moon  7th Astral Era
My name is Corvus Starling.
I am thirty-four years old, male, seven foot three inches in height. My hair is long and black (as I will not romanticize it with terms such as ‘ravens wing’ or ‘obsidian’ in color) and my eyes are green.
I am an Elf from the Kingdom of Voeburt, I died and was turned into a greenman by the Fae that inhabit the land now known as Il Mheg. Voeburt fell from overwhelming numbers of sin eaters and has not existed as a kingdom for the past one hundred or more years.
The enchantment that kept me so transformed was lifted and gave me back my true, albeit very weak form ere being sent where I now live on the star Hydaelan on the continent known as Eorzea within the Black Shroud of Gridania. The fact fae magick can reach beyond worlds and stars and stretch into other existences is, in fact, -terrifying- and if they don’t feel the need to come get me the same way they sent me here I shall not complain.
I am well, however. The Doctor who has seen me, a one Arae’sae Elvo of the Mystal  race, has given me a clean bill of physical and emotional health as well as encouraged me to write down my thoughts, feelings, and observances as a method of coping with the new and altogether unfamiliar reality I am faced with.  Writing it all down it sounds rather ludicrous even if it is all fact, but it may help me be able to connect points I otherwise might miss without seeing them on paper.
So...
Where to start?
several ink blotches can be seen on the parchment paper, as if though the tip of the quill was rested against it and ink was allowed to bleed out
I am a guest resident in the manor of one Varaelian Nilhandril who has graciously allowed me to remain here while I get a foothold in this world. He is cynical and sarcastic at times, but this eyes and his posture speak of a man who carries the weight of the world upon his shoulders and knows not how to shrug it off. Perhaps he does not even want to. Nevertheless he has volunteered to keep me housed, clothed, and fed for the time being and I am grateful.
My ‘cousin’ Silene is here more ink spots were tapped onto the surface
Complicated.
I know he is named for the Moon and it fits his cold, distant, and unengaged demeanor that belies his real self. I fear he feels so strongly he has trained himself not to feel at all save for those few who have scaled over the battlements and castle walls he has built up inside. He is through looks and memories alone the closest thing I have to family, and though we are nearly physically identical we are opposite in all other aspects.
There is a part of me that almost wishes I could break through his barriers, to try and find some way to make the man happy and cease his woes. Another part of me knows that I could try to climb those walls until it kills me the moment I slip up and fall.
No. I shall stay well away from that.
His partner, a Viis named Suna, is a suspicious man who likes and trusts me not.
Well, the feeling is mutual, Ser.
There are other names that come to the fore of my mind at times and I am trying to recall their faces, to understand the emotions that I feel when they arise:
-A golden Lady -A dark haired, pale skinned Drahn -A stern faced, gray haired man with amber eyes -An elf youth with an untrustworthy smile
Love. Hate. Yearning. Anger. Disgust. Shame. Above it all, sadness. When all I can recall are memories and feelings not my own it’s overwhelming. I am sure any recollections of my previous life in Voeburt may slowly come back to me as the days pass- who I was, what I did, who I lost.
I wish I could remember
I have started work at the Carpenters Guild in Gridania. A simple job shaving and sanding wood planks for the guild crafters and carpentry specialists but it keeps my mind and my body busy as I learn more about this new Star.
Tomorrow evening I shall be visiting my ‘cousin’ again now that some days have passed since my first arrival. I have questions and he has the answers. However unwilling or hesitant he may be to give them is no deterrent- I deserve to know.
Buck up, man. At least you’re no longer a magical shrub anymore.
Yourself,
Corvus

New Dragon Age OC List
Hey, everybody! I have an itch to write for some OCs, so I’ll be doing some prompts and stuff for these ones below. Feel free to ask about them!
Returning OCs
Tash Adaar - Inquisitor, Qunari (Vashoth), Mage (Knight-Enchanter)
His Worship, Lord Inquisitor Tash “First-Thaw” Adaar-Tethras, the Child of Andraste, Lord of Ylenn Basin, and Heir Apparent to the Viscount of Kirkwall. “Dimples”
Tash, child of Saarebas (deceased) and Kaaras (deceased), stepson of Colm (deceased) and stepbrother to Arno (deceased). Adopted son of Varric and Hawke. His gentle nature surprisingly served him well through his tenure as Inquisitor, belying an unforeseen political acumen. Just a child who likes sparkly things and being nice.
Possible Face Claim: ???
Cal Hawke - Champion, Human (Elf-blooded), Rogue (Duelist)
Ser Callan Hawke, Champion and former Viscount of Kirkwall and self-proclaimed “drunkard husband of the best storyteller in Thedas,” “Waffles”
Cal Hawke, child of Malcolm Hawke and an elven woman, half-brother of Carver, Bethany, and Ava - although he only gets along with his sisters - romanced Varric, sided with mages. Had brief relationships with Isabela and Anders during Dragon Age 2.  Allowed Anders to go free. Harmless and fun-loving until his family is threatened.
Possible Face Claim: Antoni Porowski
Ava Hawke - Champion, Human, Mage (Force Mage)
Her Majesty, Princess Ava Hawke, the “Witch Princess” of Starkhaven, Champion of Kirkwall, and Lover of Fenris and Sebastian, “Killer”
Ava Hawke, youngest child of Malcolm and Leandra, sister of Callan, Carver, and Bethany, although she only gets along with her brothers. Loved Fenris, but fell for Sebastian after he left her. Surprisingly, the Starkhaven heir was the one to suggest they invite the former slave back in. Headstrong and ruthless, she will do anything to protect those she cares about.
Possible Face Claims: Katie McGrath or Lucy Hale
Aster Amell - Warden, Human, Mage (Spirit Healer)
His Lordship, Chancellor Astyanax Amell of Ferelden, (Technically) Warden-Commander of Ferelden, Arl of Amaranthine, King Consort to His Majesty King Alistair, and Mage of Kinloch Hold
Aster romanced Alistair. Living in Kinloch Hold for as long as he can remember, he is a fish out of water who wants to help everyone he can. He is still technically Warden-Commander, but in name only. As chancellor, he was basically King of Ferelden due to being more capable than Alistair, and their relationship was a very poorly-kept secret until their official marriage about three years before Inquisition.
Possible Face Claims: Ben Barnes or Charlie Cox
MGITs - Modern Girls/Guys In Thedas
Lottie Gamez - Human (Outworlder), Rogue (Tempest)
Charlotte Leticia Gamez
A headstrong young woman working her way up the corporate ladder into her dream job, Lottie fell into Thedas, which she was unprepared and unequipped for. A consummate scholar and veritable polymath, Lottie finds herself already able to speak Antivan, Orlesian, Teveni, and Nevarran, and her intellect helps her to figure out the rules of Thedas fairly quickly. She quickly works out how to conduct alchemical processes to make potions and elixirs as well as explosives.
Possible Face Claim: Odette Annable or Demi Lovato
Katie Dawes - Human (Outworlder), Warrior (Champion)
Serah Katrina Dawes Cousland, Lady of Highever, Diplomat of the Court of Ferelden.
Only a young teenager when she fell into Thedas, Katie landed smack dab in the middle of the Blight. Through a combination of sheer luck and latent skill in the spear, she saved Fergus Cousland from certain death and earned his gratitude. He took her in as his ward and taught her about his world, believing her to be some kind of Andrastian gift, as she looks identical to his dead sister Elissa. By Inquisition, she’s become a powerful warrior and savvy member of the court of King Alistair and Chancellor Aster.
Possible Face Claims: Dove Cameron (Origins), Britt Robertson or Diane Kruger (Inquisition)
Henry Lucas - Human (Outworlder)
Henry Adam Delaney-Lucas, Oracle of the Inquisition
A college student with “absolutely no relevant skills,” Henry found his way into Thedas sometime during the Conclave, and using his knowledge of the games, found his way to the Inquisition to speak with Sister Nightingale, who fortunately had seen this kind of thing before. He’s training in the sword with Cullen and Cassandra and learning diplomacy with Josephine, but his real benefit to the Inquisition is in his “future sight” and the emotional stability he has.
Possible Face Claims: young Chris Hemsworth or Cody Christian
Morgan Walker - Warden, Human (Outworlder), Mage (Shapeshifter/Arcane Warrior)
Morgan Rhys Walker, Father of Kieran, Hero of Ferelden
He was a college student with a promising future in football when he found himself in Thedas during the Blight. Having thankfully played Dragon Age: Origins, he was able to end up joining Aster Amell’s party as a mage, learning magic from Morrigan. Though he was attracted to Zevran, he found himself falling for Morrigan, with her understanding of his status as a being from another world, and he willingly became a Warden and conducted the Dark Ritual to save their friends. He and Morrigan travel Thedas with their son, Kieran, while Morgan keeps in frequent contact with Leliana and Zevran as friends.
Possible Face Claims: Sebastian Stan or Thom Evans
New OCs
Rana - Qunari (Tal-Vashoth) Craftsman
Master Blacksmith and Assistant Arcanist Ranaath Katoh
Named “Taarsaad” - “Armorer” - by the Tamassrans, he abandoned the Qun after witnessing a child manifesting magic and being taken away to become a Saarebas. Watching for Ben-Hassrath every step of the way, he eventually found his way to meeting a young dwarven woman who sought to combine his skill in crafting with her knowledge of magic, and the two formed a partnership. Dagna brings Rana to Skyhold with her, and the blacksmith shows his prowess at handling and creating magical equipment.
Possible Face Claim: Marlon Teixeira
Bjorn Winter Bear - Avvar Mage
Bjorn Hakkonsen of Cloud Reach Hold
Found as an infant by the Avvar of Cloud Reach Hold in a bear’s den, napping next to a mother bear whose cubs were slain by hunters. The bear became the hold-beast, and the boy was christened Bjorn Hakkonsen and given the legend-mark Winter Bear, for he had somehow survived the winter with the bear. Guided by a spirit companion, he wandered Thedas until coming to the Inquisition, eager to help heal the Lady of the Skies.
Possible Face Claims: Jake Gyllenhaal or Hrithik Roshan
Lavinia Nouvelle-Feuille - Tevinter/Orlesian Diplomat
Lavinia Corvus Nouvelle-Feuille of Val Firmin, Chatelaine of Skyhold
Daughter of an Orlesian nobleman and a Tevinter slave, Lavinia lived with her father while her twin brother Laertes stayed with their mother. She was schooled by her father in the Game and chose to become a diplomat while her father gathered enough money to travel to Tevinter and buy the freedom of her mother and brother. On Vivienne’s recommendation, she was chosen to help Josephine look after Skyhold and the surrounding refugee town, along with her brother.
Possible Face Claim: Aishwarya Rai Bachchan or Candice Patton
Reyn Caron - Warden, Human, Warrior (Spirit Warrior)
Ser Reynaud Caron, Acting Warden-Commander of Ferelden
An Orlesian Grey Warden sent to take over Warden-Commander for the new Chancellor of Ferelden - he and Aster were both present during Awakening. Reyn was the one who went on the quest to find the cure for the Joining. A former noble who was kicked out of Les Academie d’Chevaliers for his refusal to harm elves for the sake of it. May or may not technically be a Red Jenny.
Possible Face Claim: Olivier Giroud

Why Collectors Editions?
I’m seriously starting to wonder what the hell the point of Collector’s Edition codex’s are.
I’m eagerly awaiting the new Dark Eldar Codex, from what I have seen on the reveals from news sites this thing is killer (Literally) and I can’t wait to get my clawed mutated hands on it.
On seeing the full pic of the CE codex, I was struck, as I normally always am by the complete amount of ‘MEH” I feel when I see GW pumping these things out.
First off Collectible things are normally objects that appreciate in value over time. Codex’s don’t do this. They eventually get faq’d, or retcon’d when a new edition comes out which drops their value down to that of a used stack of paper you find at a used book store or online PDF.
Its not the artwork that’s for sure. Look no offense to those artists who are better than me and have professional illustration jobs, but looking at the DE codex’s artwork is like looking at every other mass produced piece of digital paint vomit that comes out of just about any deviantart blog site. No way that shit appreciates over time, it actually looks less eye catching and unique than older editions.
Its not the format, these things are not leather bound with press stamped designs and gold rim leaf pages printed on the skins of human slaves from the wych coven holding cells. Its a regular old jack-off hard cover book which if anything is a disadvantage cause hardcovers are more of a pain to stow away for travel purposes.
I mean honestly I see no point in these things. They are a fruitless waste of money, and yet another needless expense GW kicks out that then means they have to turn around and charge me more money for actual models. (Looking at you, needless designer dice and crappy measurement tools and turn counters.)
The only time I have ever seen GW kick out worth while CE things were the old Games Day Special Ed. models, and the FW open day Special ed. models. And even then it was pointless if you couldn’t go to the event that was half a continent or globe away, cause unlike Corvus Beli and Privateer Press, GW doesn’t make the models available though online store ordering during the time the event goes on (which you know, would make them money if they did that, but psssshht, I mean when does GW chase the dollar?).
I just want my damn $25 dollar softback codex’s back. I don’t give a shit that you put a ribbon and hard case around the same damn book as everyone else is getting and said its ‘Special’ or ‘Collectible” cause no, its not.
End rant.

300 Points of Infinity in 8 Weeks
So, I'll be running an event at my local games store called the Call to Arms, which is a league where signees attempt to paint an army in a specific amount of time. There is a buy-in, and for each person that joins, the store adds money to the event's 'prize pool', split evenly among those who successfully completes the challenge, as an incentive to join in the fun. While the event doesn't start for about another month, I'm still deciding on which sectoral I want to get painted up for the event. I think I've narrowed it down to two lists though, either;
Tumblr media
or
Tumblr media
My focus here is to get some of my favorite stuff from either sectoral painted up, I'm not thinking effective units at the moment. The paint scheme I have in mind is a primary or greys, blacks, and possibly whites, with either red, orange or yellow to give the models a bit of an 'oomf'. I've always enjoyed the idea of the Nomads being a mercenary force (hell, mercenaries is one of Corregidor's prime exports!), so I kind of wanted to have a 'neutral' look to them. Hopefully I'll remember to update my blog once the painting actually starts

The Fat Yuan Yuan is here for Infinity!

Well it looks like Corvus Beli went ahead and made their own April Fools joke come true, looks like we have one eating take-out noodles, and the other one jumping over a keg. These sculpts have a lot of personality, I wonder how they are going to write the rules for them.

Thoughts on first Infinity game.
So with regards to my first game, I played my Haqqislam 150 point list against Yu Jing. It was a blast and i learned a lot about the game, with a very helpful opponent that walked me through each turn.
My Sekban were fairly slow, and it was tough getting used to the 4-2 movement, but with the Haris link team they were very manageable in their first turn. Also the Sekban armor and 360 visor made them very difficult to take out for my opponent, I think I will keep these guys around, especially with the HRL option.
The Ghulam were the stars of the show. As far as basic infantry go, they were fantastic. The high WIP made them do a lot better than expected, and the Ghulam Doctor plus was amazing, as long as I could keep him safe he was almost guaranteed to revive an unconscious trooper.
I think my biggest obstacle was that I really misjudged my range bands, which I definitely expected during my first game, but was still a problem. It’s going to take a lot of practice to figure out optimal positions for troops to maximize their effectiveness and get overlapping fields of fire. Another major obstacle was camouflage and cover. My troops were pretty good shots, but against TO camo and enemies in cover I was regularly getting huge negative modifiers to my shooting, and had no way to counteract this. The HRL and HMG that I had scared my opponent at first, but then he realized that they really could not hit his troops more than 20% of the time and got a lot more confident about moving up the field. The Sekban with boarding shotgun helped to pick up the slack here though!
Moving forward, I think I should definitely try out my Djanbazan sniper, that MSV should really help, and maybe even pick up some Govads for some cheaper support against multiple camouflaged enemies. Also the Azra’il with X-visor can mitigate my negative modifiers with aiming downrange while packing a big punch.
Thanks for reading, and any comments or advice is greatly appreciated! Hopefully I will be able to play some bigger games over the next few weeks/months!
TL;DR - Infinity is cool, link teams are cool, weapon range bands take getting used to, camouflaged enemies are hard to hit, can’t wait for round 2!
