DO YOU HAVE HIGH CORTISOL Stress of any kind -mental/emotional or physical- signals the body’s need for stress hormones cortisol and adrenaline. The purpose for this increase in stress hormones, particularly cortisol, is to convert amino acids into glucose (gluconeogenesis). The extra glucose helps to provide the body the right amount of energy to deal with stress. In other words, stress is the body’s perceived need for sugar. Those suffering with thyroid issues (hypothyroid, Hashimoto’s, etc)  are already physiologically locked in an inflammatory “stressed” state causing cortisol levels to increase, a situation that can become heavily exacerbated over time if left unaddressed or undiagnosed. Even though your cortisol levels increase for a good purpose you can run into trouble if it stays high for too long, forcing thyroid hormone T4 to be converted to reverse T3 (RT3), which can then lead to weight gain, problems falling or staying asleep, depression, fatigue, inc BP, hormone imbalances and anxiety.  There are a number of ways to reduce cortisol levels in the body, the most common of them being things like meditation, adaptogenic herbs and exercise however, in our opinion nutrition is the most powerful of them all. If stress is the body’s perceived need for sugar and you are someone suffering from any thyroid issue (ie. Chronically elevated cortisol and adrenaline) your greatest defense against this invasion of stress hormones and their effect on your health, would be the food you eat. When you provide your body with the proper metabolic foods at the right times throughout your day, in a balance that works to recover liver glycogen stores and therefore regulates blood sugar, you will have the energy you need to combat your daily stresses. You will recover natural cortisol rhythms, your body will not be forced to consume itself (ie. Gluconeogenesis) and you will regulate all thyroid issues. No supplements needed. . #thyroidhealth #highcortisol #stressedout #thyroidmalfunction #hypothyroidism #thyroidissues #lowbloodsugar #cortisolreduction #adrenalhealth #restorationthyroidnutrition #realfoodgangstas #eastwesthealing       https://www.instagram.com/p/By0LIA1gKqH/?igshid=17giulh99h65y
