Thinking about DP x DC Jason Todd being a revenant again. Here's my scenario. Jason gets called that by some ghost. He's like "what the fuck is that supposed to mean?" He's heard the term before but he doesn't know any actual lore. He googles it. He scrolls past the Leonardo DiCaprio bear movie. He opens the wiki. Sees the words "animated corpse" and gets a chill diwn his spine. He starts reading the first section.
He closes Wikipedia.
That night he has a nightmare that his family buried him, again, this time with precautions. He wakes up in his own grave, full of stones, too heavy to move, to scream.
#CANT STOP THINKING ABOUT THIS#like reading this section in the context of jason is SO HORRIFYING#the idea of someone knowing it was possible for him to come back. to wake up down there. and wanting to keep him there#stay dead. we want you dead. you're too troublesome alive. you're meant to be down there.#so anyways. jason internalizing all this shit and feeling uncomfortable in his own body because he's thinking of it as a corpse#and of himself as haunting a place he doesn't belong#and then meeting danny and danny says 'wow you're a revenant aren't you! The dead so restless they can't bear to stay in their graves'#and he smiles. 'You're amazing. Your will is so strong'#and the Ghost King tells Jason 'You're alive but that doesn't mean you aren't one of mine. I will come for you'#and batman says 'we will keep you safe from that entity and his threats. you don't belong to him'#and jason says 'he didn't mean i was his possession. he said i was his responsibility. he said he would help me if i ever needed him'#and bruce sees the faraway look in his son's eyes and doesn't know what to say#okay I'm done#for now#dp x dc#dpxdc#revenant jason todd#danny phantom#dc#batfam#jason todd#my rambles#my writing

Ghouls night out

#poorly drawn mdzs#mdzs#wei wuxian#lan wangji#Scopophobia#Don't be mean Lan Wangji - the dead girl aesthetic is a curated one. Support women's rights to look dead!#I have been waiting for this scene for ages...the ghost girl entourage is such a good look for WWX.#And by gods does the audio drama actually do something interesting with one of them.#Namely that we actually get to see WWX talk with them and learn about who they were and what they left behind.#I love necromancer characters but it's way too common for them to be like “Go! Ghost no.145!” like they're a pokemon#and not...you know...someone who had a whole life that they left behind.#I love me a necromancer who has an awareness to whose soul/body they are using. It adds a lot of flavour!#MDZS is a little hit or miss with this. I think the fans do a lot of the work with making Mo Xuanyu a bigger character.#Yi City has this in spades. Even though we don't individually get character backstories#We get many painful reminders about how these 'corpses' were people.#We also get a few lines about how WWX used whatever corpses he could get his hands on (including grandparents - Woof!)#MDZS often (but not always) likes to remind us that every sacrifice and every ghost was a person.#It is so close to nailing the landing regarding the deconstruction of the necromancer character.#Anyhow. You may have noticed the uptick in quality in the last two comics. Rule of three means next one is going to be a treat B*)#See you all very soon!

This was going to be a panel of a little comic but I got too invested in drawing minute background details so, here.
#They are having an argument over 1) whether crops can be grown on the moons 2) what - if any - impact does this have on the feasibility#of an afterlife being located on the moons#Brakul is a partial convert to the Imperial Wardi faith but this mostly entails having adopted the seven faced God (and some#other elements of the belief system) into his worldview and participating in expected rites while retaining his central#ancestor veneration practices completely unchanged and mostly prioritized.#This doesn't actually cause much friction in of itself with the big exception being disagreements on the afterlife#Wardi practices surrounding death prioritize proper handling of the corpse and funerary rites in order to get the dead where they#need to be- death is a fraught transition from one state to another. analogous to birth. The role of the living is to get the dead through#this transition (preventing them from being stuck earthbound as earthbound ghosts - which is the Bad afterlife). Once the dead#make it to the moons that's it. They don't really interact with the living. There's plenty of conceptualization of what it's Like#in the lunar lands but the cultural priority is not even slightly on the Logistics of existence there.#Whereas the CORE of religious practice among the Hill Tribes is ancestor veneration - ancestors remain interactive with the living#and require/desire their continual support. They are conceptualized as having earthlike 'lives' where they eat and drink#and grow crops and herd livestock and they need the support of the living (in prayers and offerings) to do so prosperously.#There is a HIGH cultural priority on the logistics of their afterlife and it's self-apparent that the world of the dead needs fertile earth#to support them.#So like bottom line Brakul thinks there's no goddamn way that the moons could support an afterlife (they are described as#barren rock that was flung into the sky during creation and certainly Look that way)#and that the Wardi are just wrong about their afterlife's location. They probably go to the celestial fields (which are located#behind the moons and stars) like everyone else#And Janeys finds this aggravating and doesn't see his fucking point but has developed a nagging concern that Brakul Could be#partly right in that the celestial fields could Maybe exist in addition to the lunar lands.#So like maybe they aren't going to go to the same place when they die?#He's already terrified that he'll be stuck as an earthbound ghost and really doesn't want to be even further separated so#he figures he should make sure he gets himself dead and cremated at the same time as Brakul so they can navigate the#transitional period together.#Brakul is unconcerned because he figures that if Janeys actually does get stuck on those barren ass moons he can just kinda#Go Get Him#Ancestor spirits fly to the earth all the time and the moons would be a much shorter distance. Probably wouldn't be an issue.#Long story short these disagreements and underlying anxieties result in fights over whether you can grow corn on the moons or nah

atla tobiizu au where after like 5 years of war between their people (Water + Fire) when they finally reach a peaceful compromise and meet to make the treaty... izuna finds out that tobirama's primary position in his family is *healer*. all the official titles for him correlate to that, all the official flowing language centers on that, all the official propaganda-ish artwork of him references it. izuna feels like a horrific prank is being pulled on him
izuna's like sorry. sorry. the guy who fucking BENDED my BLOOD to CONTORT MY BODY to demand a ceasefire is known as your doctor guy?
tobirama: of course i'm a healer. why else would i know so much about the properties of blood.
#(hashirama is also a healer- honestly a better one than tobirama- but he's defined by his leader position + insane warrior abilities.#tobirama is The Healer because he keeps inventing shit and they don't have a title for that#but like half the shit he invents involves bodies so it gets classified under healer.)#tobirama would bloodbend corpses btw. not important just saying he would#tobirama also invented bloodbending in this setting if that wasn't clear.#tobiizu#izutobi#eventually izuna will turn this into a prank on madara where he keeps sending him the official portraits of tobirama (looking demure and#kind in moonlight) and being like please make sure there are enough downy pillows for my delicate husband. he'll shatter if we're not caref#and madara gets convinced izuna is marrying tobirama's sickly dying twin or something. until actual tobirama shows up and is just.#6'3 stone faced miserable man who did indeed possess his little brother to win the war.

For @kinglazrus !! Super excited abt this one! I love corpse aus so I just had to do this one.
AO3 Link
"There's a shallow grave in the woods. The only marker is a stone with the name "Danny" scratched into it. Judging by the fresh-turned soil, it hasn't been empty for long."
The call came in from a hiker early in the morning.
She'd been going on her daily hike when she decided to go on a route that was different from her normal route.
When she tripped over the rock, she should have known that there was something wrong. At first, she started to walk past, and continue on her hike.
It was on her way back that she really noticed the issue.
The rock she had tripped over had writing that she didn't notice the first time.
It was a simple engraving, probably done with another rock or a different sharp tool, definitely not professionally done.
There was one word.
A name.
'DANNY'
It was at that point that she realized that the dirt path seemed to be disturbed near the edges, as if someone had gone digging.
Oh god, someone had been digging .
As she looked at the disturbed dirt, she saw something odd. It was an odd color, looking as if it had been burned or melted, blackened.
It was a bone.
A charred, dirty, old bone, covered in a material that had melted and fused to it.
It was like one of those horror stories, of certain toys made from plastic materials melting onto skin if exposed to too much heat.
She called the police station the second she was in range of a cell tower.
All the operator at the call center heard was, "God, the bones , they're black, they're burned. There's bones in the woods ."
The CSI left the station immediately.
.
..
...
"She wasn't kidding, these bones were definitely burned, but they're weird. It's more reminiscent of electrical burns. What could output enough power to burn a body so thoroughly by electrocution?" The lead CSI said. She was wearing gloves and slowly unburying the body.
The more they uncovered, the more horrified they were.
"This is a kid," A member of the team said, "Either a kid or a small person. The size of the bones indicate that the owner of this body was under 5 ft. Maybe a small kid? What name did the stone say?"
"Danny, I think, it's a little hard to read, but that looks like the right name."
"Wait, wasn't there a kid that went missing a year ago from Amity named Danny?"
"Yeah, but I thought the parents were under suspicion, with that weird lab in their basement."
"Didn't the sister call it in?" The one handling the bones said.
The case they were talking about was the case of Daniel Fenton. He had gone missing four weeks before his freshman year, except he was only reported missing when his sister came back from a college summer camp. Two weeks after he supposedly went missing.
Because of this, nobody actually figured out when he went missing. The police had searched the entire Fenton home, which had uncovered the lab in the basement of the home.
The Fentons had a portal. An interdimensional portal to some place they called the Ghost Zone, and it had corresponded with sightings of weird, translucent, flying people that had been sighted in the city.
They had been taken into custody, but then later released due to a lack of evidence. His sister was still advocating for missing children, especially kids who weren't reported until long after they vanished.
"But this body is too decomposed for only a few months. Maybe the burns accelerated it?"
"I mean, if this is the Fenton kid-"
"Don't start being a conspiracy theorist now, Sean." The lead investigator said, shaking her head.
"You never know!"
.
..
...
The coroner's office was cold. The autopsy room was colder.
The body on the table was small, a kid, wearing a plastic material that had seemed to fuse with the bones it was covering.
The bones, God the bones. They were blackened, covered in a dark material, flesh that had been burnt to a blackened crisp.
The coroner looked at the body in front of him and sighed.
The only thing he could easily use for identification that wasn't fingerprints or DNA were dental records. Luckily, while the corpse was completely desecrated, the bones were somehow intact.
He was able to take a scan of the teeth and send them off to be compared with all local dentist offices within a 50 mile radius.
It was a few minutes later when he got the ping.
There's a match.
"Shit."
.
..
...
The Fentons were in their lab when they got a phone call.
"Hello, this is Jack Fenton of Fentonworks, how can I help you?" The burly man said into the receiver.
"Hello, Mr. Fenton. This is the Briggersdale Police Department, calling you to inform you that a few days ago, we found a body in the woods. This body has been identified as the body of your son, Daniel." The voice on the other end said to him.
"What?" Jack stood with the phone in hand in shock. Maddie chose that moment to walk into the room.
"Are you okay, Jack?"
Jack thanked the officer and hung up. "They... found a body."
"A body? Why did they contact you? Where was this?"
"The next town over. The body was identified. It was Danny's."
A sharp intake of breath could be heard from Maddie. "We need to call Jazz."
"She isn't speaking to us, she'd just ignore anything we have to say to her."
"She'll listen, it's about Danny."
.
..
...
Jazz Fenton had been having a good day. She had only one class that morning, her favorite introduction to developmental psychology course, and she had just finished speaking with her roommate about their date next weekend with their longtime girlfriend. She was happy for them. She was having a good time, reading one of her favorite books at her desk.
It was a good day, until she got the phone call.
It was from her parents.
She refused the call at first. This was the third time that week her parents had tried to contact her, and the third time she refused their call.
Usually they stopped trying to call her, and just left her a few texts after she refused their call, but this time was different.
She should have known something was wrong.
"What is it? I thought I told you guys to never contact me again." Jazz spoke before either of her parents could even get one word out.
"Jazz... They found it."
"What, what did they find?" Jazz stood up. She was really getting annoyed now, with them being all cryptic towards her.
"His body. Jazz, they found Danny's body."
Jazz's phone slipped out of her hands.
What?
They found his body. They found his body.
Oh god, he was actually dead.
Jazz knew after the first few days she realized her brother was missing that the chances of finding him again were slim to none, and after the first two weeks, she knew that she would probably sooner see a body bag than see her brother alive again.
But this? This made it real.
He was dead.
He was gone .
She was never going to see him again.
Oh god, this was real .
She stared in front of her. She stared at the wall.
Her knees gave out and she slumped to the ground.
She could feel her eyes well up with tears.
She could hear her roommate shouting her name and kneeling in front of her as she sobbed, crying and trying to say anything, but no words would come out of her mouth.
Oh god, she had to tell Sam and Tucker.
No way would her parents even know that he had them as his friends, and they were always the first people that she gave updates to, even before her parents. They deserved to know he was... dead. That they had found his body.
.
..
...
Sam and Tucker were hanging out at Tucker's house when Sam's phone rang.
She picked it up, recognizing the number as Jazz's.
Tucker watched as emotions crossed her face, beginning with worry, and ending in dread.
"Oh my god. Tucker. They found it."
“Shit.” He said.
“Shit.” She nodded in agreement.

I was rewatching The Untamed in class as one does on Monday. My friend was sitting next to me and looked at their phone until turned to me and my tablet to watch The Untamed with me. They didn't have much of an idea of the show and how it's looks. They just know information provided by my canva presentations. Did I hold presentations to my friends who would be their fave character in mdzs? Yes.
So that friend just sat there and watched the first episode with me.
I'm used to the whacky and wonky editing of the show and just how ridiculous it looks. But my friend just watches it and is just so confused and amused by the ridiculousness.
And then the scene comes where Lan Wangji flies up.
He just started laughing.
And I'm thinking about it since then.
#i was called out#also a classmate on the other side also saw it and the next day they sent a call out reel#they already had to chuckle at the corpses#the untamed#cql#mdzs#lan wangji#hanguang jun#lan zhan#wei wuxian#wei ying#don't think this was the most silly thing I did in class. i also played uno and mario kart#also when I watched it with my mom#my mom also looked at me shocked with the editing

"Reality Takes A Holiday" as the finale for Eerie Indiana is so important to me and I'll tell you why.
First off, I'm pretty sure it was the first time I ever saw what a set looked like, what a script looked like, and how many people work behind the scenes to make a show. It got me curious to learn more, which then sort of altered the whole trajectory of my life, so that's a weird and fascinating to think about. Specifically, I really liked the fact that studio lots had golf carts, and one of my longest standing childhood dreams was to drive one. I didn't even need to be doing anything important. I just yearned to be, for a brief moment in time, a golf cart person on an LA back lot.
Then, years ago when I moved to LA and got my first ever production assistant job, I GOT TO DRIVE THE CART AROUND THE STUDIO! It was everything I hoped it would be, and easily the best part of that job. And that job, by the way, was at CBS Radford Studios. Which I remember even at the time thinking, 'Hehe Radford, like Mr. Radford.' Not realizing THAT'S WHERE THE CHARACTER GOT HIS NAME. Eerie Indiana FILMED AT RADFORD STUDIOS. I was living my golf cart fantasy at the EXACT SAME PLACE that I had seen and dreamed of golf carting, which is such a strange fact that I wish I'd known when I was working there because what are the fucking odds? But, to bring it back to the actual storyline of the episode (spoilers ahead btw), I love that there's the line, "'If he's not back by the final shot, the network's gonna cancel all of us!" Because Marshall writes himself out of the reality where Eerie Indiana is a TV show. So he isn't back by the final shot. And the network does cancel all of them. I love the implication that the town being a fictional place watched by an audience was just another part of Eerie's weirdness. That the brief time it was on the air was a blip of realities connecting and Marshall fixed it by choosing to go back. He and Simon continue their investigations, we just don't get to follow along anymore. It is the most satisfying ending to a short lived series I've ever seen, and I think that's why it's stuck with me for decades. It feels like an honest way to end something that no one working on it wanted to end. Were it up to them, they would rewrite the ending and go back, too.
#it's so interesting to watch it in the context of tv today as well#in some ways nothing has changed and in some ways everything has changed#it is such a shame people don't talk about this show much#but even more of a shame people don't talk specifically about this episode much#it's one of the most iconic episodes of TV out there in my tiny humble opinion#even series that came after it that did similar meta stuff (buffy supernatural etc.) had to wait until well into the series to pull it off#eerie hit the ground running and never stopped#'live fast die young leave a good looking corpse' indeed <3#reality takes a holiday#eerie indiana

I think Slay the Princess is so popular partially because the *gets stabbed* "I'm in love" reaction is both intentional on the part of the developers and then they completely follow through on it.
#slay the princess#me @ the Razor: I love you so much and you're so hot and funny and– *gets stabbed again*#and then! the little Voices agree that they're kinda into it too! fantastic game! A+! kill me again beautiful woman!#they managed to make even the Princess's most terrifying grotesque forms the most beautiful fictional women I've ever seen#while never sacrificing the horror elements. if anything the horror and gore and monstrosity makes her even more attractive#like they get it. the inherent eroticism of being trapped in a time loop made with the sole purpose of getting one of us to kill the other#and then killing and hurting and dying and struggling together over and over and over until finally breaking free#she hurts us and we are but a receptacle for the pain. she hunts us like prey and swallows us whole. we beat each other to#death for the thrill of it and keep on going long past when we should've died. she torments us until our heart stops from terror.#we see her as a dominating goddess and she becomes one. she knows what our organs look like. her bloated corpse once drowned us.#we lie at the foot of the stairs to freedom with broken backs because we betrayed her so badly she could only betray us in turn#and don't even get me started on the amazing intimacy/violation of the Spectre/Wraith possession stuff#and we (both the player and the Long Quiet) love her for it and through it
