I finally started reading Nona the Ninth. I'm five chapters in and here are some key takeaways so far:
- As a trans feminine butch Pyrhha Dve having a completely normalized shaving scene, and Nona thinking it's beautiful is HEALING
- In addition to that, the teacher misgendering Pyrhha threw me through a loop cuz I completely forgot she's now permanently in Gideon the First's body.
- The fuck is the blue light??? Why does it hurt necromancers???
- Crown is Coronabeth (Corona, Crown, duh). Captain is Judith.
- This book is managing to be to uplifting and hopeful, yet makes me so incredibly sad in a way I can't begin to describe. As someone who has such a deep indescribable love of humanity as a whole, Nona and the kids especially are really hitting something deep within me.
- Pyrhha wanting to take Calamedes (name pending) and Nona away and live away on a farm is just. Mood girl, mood.
- Pyrhha sweety, why are you drinking bleach? Do you wanna talk?
- I want to scoop up Hot Sauce and give her a good home
- The rest of the kids too while we're at it
- Between the last book and now Cam/Palamedes, Tamsyn Muir has accidentally created quite possibly the most positive representation of Dissociative Identity Disorder, and disorders like it, that I have ever seen. Like I just wanna sit down with Muir and ask if that was intentional or not
- It's a bit out there but I think Nona is humanity? Or maybe a manifestation of Earth? Like it would take an It's Always Sunny conspiracy board meme level of explanation to get into how I got to that theory. But I think Nona is humanity, or at the very least, human connection incarnate
- That first chapter detailing Cam, Pyrhha, and Palamedes caring for Nona... I cried. As an autistic kid who both was forced to grow up too fast, and also was often patronized when loving innocence/naivety shown through the mask, seeing caregivers not only love Nona, but respect her and show her DIGNITY was something I didn't know I needed to see

Aiglamene: she has inverse mommy issues - daughter issues. -10/10
Augustine: full offense but he has freudian vibes. fuck-hate relationship w mercymorn who is has the energy of a neglectful mother. 7/10
Camilla: clearly raised by incredibly competent parents - unclear if she had a mother. Even if she did her real issues are codependency with Palamedes. 0/10
Corona: unconfirmed but a girl like that did NOT experience maternal affection growing up. 5/10
Crux: yknow what. nobody whose mother held them enough is Like That. 10/10
Dulcinea: idk if she had a mother, but i get 'raised by gay dad(s)' vibes from her. possibly the best adjusted character of all 0/10
G1deon: man is obsessed with doing what God wants EXCEPT when it's not to fuck a terrorist. four parts people pleaser one part horny 5/10
Gideon: mum only birthed her to blow her up, died, then used her afterlife to terrorise Gideon’s not-quite-girlfriend; gave her a desperate desire for external validation and attention, especially from evil cougars. 11/10
Harrow: mum committed genocide to conceive her, never smiled at her, attempted to murder-suicide her. 12/10
Ianthe: unclear. daddy issues but no mention of mother afaik - might not even have one. no indication of mommy issues in her romantic life bc she didn’t attempt to fuck mercymorn. HOWEVER she’s such a freak she can’t possibly have had a positive female role model. 3/10
Isaac: born in a vat but had abigail as a maternal figure so 5/10
Jeannemary: same as isaac but she's definitely sapphic so bump that to 6/10
John: literally reformed the Earth in the image of his mum’s old Hollywood hair Barbie. Also, look at him. 100/10
Judith: 9/10 no questions
Magnus: so chill but also he has the vibes of someone into mommydom shit. he's sucked abigail's tits for SURE 3/10
Marta: idk i think she has 'estranged from family' vibes. 4/10
Mercymorn: her mother might have been good but she can't remember her, so 5/10
Naberius: he kissed his mother on the mouth DAILY and you know it. 10/10
Ortus: mostly daddy issues but you saw his mother. 8/10
Palamedes: I haven’t read Doctor Sex but I have his mommy issues on good authority. I hate to say it but camilla is his mommy. 6/10
Pyrrha: unknown. Loves a milf but then who doesn’t. 1/10
Wake: giver of mommy issues. she's the mommy that's the issue. unrateable
[ETA: @everyone making fun of me for saying he sucks tits like it's something special im SORRY i didn't say magnus sits on abigails lap and pretends to breastfeed but i thought it would be GROSS i guess i forgot what this fandom is. ily all be home for dinner]

All across tumblr and similar platforms, kids like us have found their people. People who share the same difficulties, people who have gone through the same things, or just friends. I have found some amazing people on tumblr, and KOSA would take all of that away. KOSA would take away the support many LGBTQ community members have found, the support many people with mental illnesses have found, and so much more beyond that. We are striking to show KOSA that we deserve a voice too! Freedom of Speech!

it's after halloween but trick or treat anyway here you go:
flattenings of john as a character, specifically the "deadbeat dad" accusations or referring to alecto's creation as "male gaze-y." he is a demonstrably involved and gentle parent the instant he learns he's got a kid; the issue is not that he's a deadbeat so much as that he set up a society where parenthood and authority are positions of naturalized abuse. Like, he's doing everything right on the surface, it's just that you can't be a good parent and also a god-emperor. You can't help your kid connect with her culture and ancestry when you killed all her ancestors and erased their culture; you can't let your kid inherit what you have when you're never going to die and she's already dead; you can't give her what she wants and have that be healthy when what she wants is a position in the army you run. but fuck if he's not trying to. from a surface level view, he's doing everything right! and calling alecto barbie male gaze-y eliminates the role of larger systems in literally everything john has ever done. is it not so much more satisfying for it to be a completely innocuous and even childish act that still ends up defiling a woman's body because the defilement of women's bodies is so baked into everything that an act as simple as "taking comfort in childhood toys when you're stressed" has the potential to be harmful? He's fucked up, for sure, but like. damn if the ways he's fucked up in canon aren't way more interesting than half the takes.
okay so tridentariicest totally has textual backing and i love that folks explore that, but i also feel like the sexual element of their whole deal is given way too much spotlight. what about all the other totally horrifying aspects of their relationship? there's so many good god diversify it a bit.
kiriona meta that either makes her out to be completely different or completely the same as gideon. this side of her always existed and she is fundamentally changed. if i talk about this too much longer i will write an essay because every time i think about kiriona for a second too long an essay happens but moral of the story she's one of those Characters I'm Correct About and i am sososotired.
buddy youve already written an essay lmfao anyway treat: i like hearing peoples opinions. ive already mentioned my opinions on kiriona and john before (TLDR this has always been gideon and people change/imperialism misogyny and classism is baked into the society john grew up in and it continues to exist as he made this new society). tcest grosses me out on a general level but it Is there in tlt and it annoys me when people boil it down to "oh isnt it so problematic when twins kiss are you offended" instead of exploring how the third house encouraged codependency and fused identity, coronas desperation to be needed vs ianthes desperation to be acknowledged and seen blahblahblah theres just more interesting ways you could explore text within a series about the horrors and unhealthiness of love instead of jacking into a sock about it

In No Time Like The Past, if Rapunzel went ten years into the future instead, what do you think that would look like?
Ooh, interesting question!
First, if we're following the same rules as going back into the past, she'd need to inhabit a body, and where would be the fun in having her inhabit her own? So let's send her into the future and have her be...
HOOK HAND (as suggested by my sister when I put her on the spot XD)
In ten years' time, not only are Rapunzel and Eugene married, they've got (going by my personal headcanons) three kids: their adopted older kid and their twins, who (for the sake of this let's pretend) are still babies, making the adopted older kid 11 or 12. Eugene hasn't been Captain of the Guard for several years now, but serves as Rapunzel's closest advisor. Maximus is Captain now.
And speaking of Rapunzel and advisors, she's being trained to take over for her parents, who are ready to retire (they don't want to rule until they die, and why should they?). She has started implementing her ideas to educate orphans (and anyone else who wishes to attend non-mandatory school) so that they have a better chance at life than becoming thieves or dying. It's not in full operation, yet, but it's getting there, and they're already seeing results. The palace library is now open to the public.
Eugene spends a month and a half at a time, once or twice a year, in the Dark Kingdom, helping them to get back on their feet, still. (Though he might skip a few years, since he's a new father.) A Kingdom, after all, takes a long time to get established.
Rapunzel's parents spend a lot of time doting on their grandchildren.
Varian is well-established as the Royal Engineer, and has been making stable improvements all over Corona. Everyone has hot running water now. A cable car system has been implemented to help people get up and down that hill.
Lance has moved back into the city proper and is genuinely established as the head chef at the Snuggly Duckling now. The girls are all grown up and don't really want to live with their dad anymore, but they visit him regularly (and vice versa). The Snuggly Duckling is starting to get a name for itself as a good place to get food and have a good time. The Pub Thugs are a little disappointed that it's not their slovenly hangout anymore, so once a month, they have Thugs' Night, and if you show up you have to be ready to be surly and potentially brawl.
Cap now has a small ranch where he trains young horses to be ready to be in the royal guard. It's not a government position, but he's the first person they go to when they're looking to get a new one.
Corona is, over all, in a state of transition. Some things look and feel the same as ten years ago, but there's a lot of change going on at the same time.

YANDERE DAICHI SAWAMURA HEADCANONS
Tumblr media
Like Suga, he's a really protective yandere and he will do WHATEVER the HELL it takes to keep you safe
He is a yandere who is aware of his abnormal yandere tendencies about himself for you and he knows that being really obsessed with you is really creepy ASF but he really can't help himself. It's not HIS fault you looked so cute in that jacket you were wearing today BUT that skirt of yours.... he gets really overprotective of you when you wear kinda revealing clothes EVEN if it's a cold shoulder top
Daichi is an intelligent guy and there's no WAY you'll be able to escape from his fervent stalking like, at ALL
He is a really terrifying yandere to be precise. He will not hesitate to murder someone if they do something wrong to you. Remember that crazy Karen who slapped you on the face a few days back while you were going grocery shopping? Well, looks like she went missing and her family had several 'accidents'
Daichi is a man who will make sure you feel safe and protected at all times when you're around him and before you ask me WHY, it's because of the protective aura that he gives off
Daichi knows how to interact with you in public and he's the type of guy who always insists on holding your hand no matter where you go
He gets paranoid as HELL every single freaking god damn minute of the day since he's really worried about your health and safety. Are you sleeping properly? Are you eating regularly? Are you taking good care of your health? And he's also the type of person who will freak the freak out if you're hanging out with someone else OTHER than him and though he knows what he's doing is wrong by following you wherever you go and stalking you here and there, he just doesn't care. It's all to keep you safe of course
His mind will be revolving ONLY around you 24 FREAKING 7!!!
Daichi finds the things you do subconsciously really cute like when you bite your lip if you're thinking about something (Don't do that too often since if it starts bleeding, he's gonna but you the entire line of lip balms in a cosmetics store), when you pout when something happens and when you shift or pick your nails etc etc. He admires and respects your daring and outstanding personality and he'll go over the memory of how you handled yourself in a bad situation over and over again in his head
Now, when it comes to rivals, he's not going to think twice to use his position and pin the blame for something HE did on someone else and it works 99 percent of the times and he does this since he doesn't want anyone else taking advantage of your wonderful personality. He just wants you t be dependent on him and not anyone else. And so, when people start avoiding you like the Corona, you'll of course be really sad and miserable but don't worry, your Prince Charming Daichi has arrived with tissues, a tub of your favorite snacks and made you some of his delicious home made cookies :)
He will kidnap you within less than a month if I say so myself and when he does, he'll know how confused and lost you're feeling and so, he'll be ready to hold and hug you when you scream and cry and sob. He's prepared for all your little tantrums and will make sure that you love him one day
If you're trying to escape, he'll behave like he's punishing a little kid. Taking away their favorite items, gently scolding them and putting them in time out and unfortunately for you, that's the same way he's going to inflict punishments on you
He will hug you after that and tell you how sorry he is and it was your fault since you weren't willing to cooperate with him
He is awfully affectionate and really doting on you and so, the best thing you can do is just accept him for everyone's sake and if you don't, he's willing to pull you into a bone crushing hug. When it comes to keeping you safe from the outside world, believe it or not, he'll actually let you go out but you have to hold his hand no matter what or else, you'll be confined to the house for the rest of your life

THE GUILD (DEMON HUNTER AU)
so, i’ve mentioned the guild in overviews of this au, and in character introductions, but i haven’t actually explained who they are yet. so here it is! under a cut because it got long.
the guild started first as magical kingdoms allied with beast, to try to fix his mistakes and rebalance magic. when he began turning on all magic users, they split off for him and began directly fighting him. they ended up losing, and a lot of their armies were either killed, or sent to the isle where most soon died anyway. the monarchs were allowed to remain on the throne so long as they allowed heavy king’s guard presence, and sent at least one kid to be a soldier. they are fully blocked from auradon politics. basically, they’re occupied countries and their kids are political prisoners.
now, well after the war, the guild operates as an underground network. they work on protecting magic users (human or otherwise) from the guard, smuggling supplies to places merchants don’t really go, and figuring out how to yknow, fix gaps between worlds, which is the entire reason the shadow court exists.
they have a very loose hierarchy, with the only clearly defined positions being the council and those in the coalition of the arcane. the council is made up of the leaders of member countries, and are generally in charge of members from their own countries. they make sure disputes between countries are handled smoothly, and punish any rule breakers. the coalition will get their own post, but basically they’re a group of spies who attend the prep and therefore have access to information they wouldn’t otherwise. outside of that, the hierarchy is based on age and experience.
notable rules include:
- no one under 15 is eligible to fight, though they can assist family members in non-combat missions
- don’t mess with magic you don’t understand
- respect the dead. don’t do necromancy.
- never use magic to control others
- punishments can range from exile from the guild (with that person either having memories erased or enchanted to not be able to speak about the guild) or being killed. they don’t like doing either, but at the end of the day it’s our lives or yours.
- additionally, everyone must swear a magical oath that alerts the council to betrayals. there’s no consequences otherwise.
aaaaand last but not least: total member nations and individual members!
member nations: avalor, agrabah, the moorlands, tirulia, corona, and arendelle. during the war, kumandra, prydain, and logres (camelot) were members, but now kumandra is isolated and prydain and logres have their own issues.
the council is made up of queen elena castillo flores (overall leader), phoebus de chateaupers, queen aurora, sultana jasmine, queen ariel, queen rapunzel, and queen anna.
notable members include: naomi turner, gabe nunez, mateo de alva, the genie, lance strongbow, kiera schnitz, catalina schnitz, adira, the spouses of the council, and of course the coalition, as well as a few other ocs. they’re painfully small, but when combined with the isle, they’re a force to be feared.

Gideon the Ninth Appendices (continued)
Cohort Intelligence Files
Oh, these are written by Judith!
Wow, she and Marta joined the Cohort when they were literal children - eleven and ten, respectively. I guess it's somewhat common to burden little kids with responsibilities early amongst the Nine Houses?
On Naberius Tern:
He also has an extremely good opinion of himself and his swordplay, an opinion that Lt. Dyas notes occasionally aligns with reality.
Oh I love the subtle shade here. I'm also noting that Coronabeth's charisma seems to dazzle even Judith Deuteros as she is writing this, since she doesn't know about her or Ianthe's necromantic prowess - yes they were homeschooled, but knowing that necromancers are usually frail, wouldn't you wonder whether Ianthe is more necromantically apt, quietly, from her sister's shadow?
I guess not.
On Isaac Tettares:
the eldest of eight. [...] Father killed by terrorists out on [REDACTED] nineteen years ago: all of his children have been posthumous and the title held in stewardship.
Interesting! Also the bit about how kids can be born either of XX-carrier or vat-womb. Reproduction sure has advanced a great deal (as has the disconnection of sex from gender, apparently - which I've noticed before, but is obvious enough here to comment on it!)
Anyway, as we learned in Harrow the Ninth, the father does not have to be physically present for a child to get their genetic material. All you need is said genetic material. If you're in an important position in your House, presumably it's custom to save an amount of genetic material so you can continue to have heirs in the event of your death.
It seems customary for the Fourth to go to school at the Fifth, which explains the close relationship between Isaac and Jeannemary, and Abigail and Magnus.
On Protesilaus:
He's married??? He has children???? Oh my goodness, that makes his unfortunate demise at Cytherea's hands so much more tragic.
... Okay, I think that's all I really have to say on that!
A little explanation of naming systems
I did already get the idea, literally from the Dramatis Personae in Gideon the Ninth, that names refer to your House. Interesting to me is that they work differently to current surnames: people have different last names to their parents, and their last names are at least somewhat unique to them. Even siblings rarely share a name, making Coronabeth and Ianthe exceptions to the rule.
Interesting!!
Pelleamena and Priamhark: It shouldn't surprise me that these two are named for people in the Iliad. I kind of figured, with Priamhark, but it's a little less obvious with Pelleamena.
I adore the little pronounciation guides, tbh.
Crux, to rhyme with "sucks": Yeah sounds about right
Marta Dyas: DIE-ass. I'm sorry, I couldn't come up with anything better.
You know, I'm glad I decided to dig into these in a bit more detail, because Tamsyn's notes on these are hilarious.
On Ianthe and Coronabeth:
In the original, Ianthe and Corona were "Cainabeth and Abella", a feat of naming so unsubtle that I might as well have just gone with "Goodtwin" and "Badtwin". And it's not even accurate! It should be Badtwin, and Lessbadtwin.
I'm reminded of Coronabeth going "She could have taken me!!!" after Ianthe became Lyctor. Oh, she sure could have! Why do you sound jealous, Coronabeth?
On Jeannemary and Isaac:
Isaac here foreshadows Gideon's death by doing the "bravest and stupidest" thing, i.e. getting his abdomen made into a huge Connect-4 board. I might as well have called Jeannemary and Isaac "Don'tgetattached" and "Deadsoon".
Okay, rude. I mean, I didn't end up reading into the naming while reading Gideon for the first time, though maybe I should have. Maybe I wouldn't have gotten so attached (and upset) when they were both deadsoon.
On Palamedes:
Pal-AM-a-dees. At first I had a coarse comparison here, but then I removed it.
Palamadeez nuts, lol. So rude, Tamsyn.
Oh wow, more foreshadowing in the names of Dulcinea and Protesilaus. Wow. Okay remind me to dissect any new names that come up in Nona the Ninth (whenever I get to actually reading that).
... Okay, we're done with the appendices of Gideon the Ninth!!
Now soon to follow: Appendices of Harrow the Ninth, including As Yet Unsent, then I will read The Mysterious Study of Doctor Sex, and then, then finally, we will start on our reread of Gideon and Harrow.
I can't wait!

Tumblr media
So this one guy who blocked me because of a perfectly civil comment pointing out the flaw in something he was saying rather than actually respond and try to debate it then posted this.
Which may as well read:
Tumblr media
It's the nostalgia strawman, the same one mentioned 5 and a half minutes into this video. It also comes up in this one and this one. And as the arguments posit in those videos, it's bullshit used as an easy way to avoid true critical engagement. However, I still want to say my piece on this post, even if the person who made it tried to stop me through blocking.
"All the writing problems in KH3 are present in KH2"
Hahahahahaha, no. Absolutely not.
Granted, I did make sure to bolden "all" since of course it's an objective fact that some of the writing problems in KH3 are indeed present in KH2 - both Tetsuya Nomura and Masaru Oka are writers on both, so it would be impossible for that not to be the case. However, let's see if this person's examples of such shared problems holds up.
Retcons
Nope. There was only one retcon in KH2, which is the retcon around Ansem's identity, which I've already discussed at length. That is literally the only time where something from a prior game got changed around, and it was already being set up in CoM. That is lightyears ahead of the retcons in KH3, several of which are retcons on a more fundamental level than just who someone really is (ex: Xigbar being Luxu is a retcon that I hate, but it's not affecting anything fundamental - it's the retcon of what he did in the past that is the true problem.)
A glut of characters with strange and poorly explained motivations
Nope. The motivations of DiZ and Organization XIII respectively were not remotely strange given their circumstances and were explained very clearly; some could argue they were overexplained. A world of difference from, say, Ansem and Saix's obsessions with Subject X, a character who isn't even a part of KH3's story.
New mechanics that don't get adequately explained
All right, I give them this one. Hell, that's been a thing since KH1.
Relying on you to play and understand side games to grasp the baseline plot.
Nope. There was only one side game at the time of KH2, which was CoM. And it was only needed to fully grasp KH2's prologue....and I say fully grasp because KH2, prologue included, was conceived before CoM was, so the prologue was always going to be intentionally confusing. Once we reach the actual baseline plot with Sora, Donald and Goofy, CoM is no longer an issue since they act like they're picking up fresh off the end of KH1.
Awkwardly rehashing the plot of Disney movies for 90% of the game and then having the bulk of the plot in the last 5 hours
Nope. The linked videos already debunked this fallacy, but for elaboration: KH2 did actually have plot-relevant events occur in half of the Disney world visits and it had a midway point where a huge chunk of the plot transpired, meaning "the bulk of the plot in the last 5 hours" is a damned lie as far as KH2 is concerned. Meanwhile, "awkwardly rehashing the plot of Disney movies for 90% of the game" makes one question if this person played either KH2 or KH3, because it doesn't apply to either of them! Three visits in each of them rehash the movie's plot (KH2: Land of Dragons 1, Port Royal 1, and Pride Land 1; KH3: Kingdom of Corona, Arendelle, The Caribbean), with one visit also having many elements of the movie's plot (KH2: Atlantica, KH3: Olympus), but otherwise the Disney worlds did their own stories.
Shafting Kairi
Half-right. Both games did shaft Kairi, but comparing the way KH2 did it with the way KH3 did it is apples and oranges, since Kairi was still a civilian damsel in KH2 and despite the shafting got to participate in its conclusion and begin her own path as a combatant; Kairi in KH3 was a combatant who spent most of the game training for that combatant role and it ended up resulting in her not participating in the conclusion because she died, got restored, only to be kidnapped and then die again. And no, Re:Mind doesn't retroactively absolve KH3 of this, especially given that the positive treatment Kairi receives there doesn't even last into the Limitcut Episode and the following game, MoM.
Imo KH3 does a somewhat better job at threading its information into a smooth plot than KH2
Nope. The "information" you speak of, objectively, is all information about past games or even future games. The only information that is relevant to pushing forward the narrative of KH3 as was established at the start of the game ("gather these specific seven Keyblade wielders to go fight Xehanort and his organization at the Keyblade Graveyard") is the stuff with Vexen and the replicas....which not only had a huge chunk of it missing until Re:Mind, but also might not have even been needed since Nomura said he considered doing the story without resurrecting Roxas and Xion in the climax.
So in total, this post only had one thing completely correct (both KH2 and KH3, and all KH games for that matter, have new mechanics that don't get adequately explained because Nomura is just like that), and one thing partially correct (both KH2 and KH3 shaft Kairi, but pretending the shafting is in any way equivalent is a logical fallacy). Everything else listed isn't actually comparable to KH3 at all, proving once again that this isn't a nostalgia filter issue. It's a legitimate observation that KH3 suffered terribly from the decision to bog it down with connections to so many other games and from Nomura and Oka getting rid of all their co-contributors like Kazushige Nojima, Daisuke Watanabe and Harunori Sakemi.

Note
for the character meme: gideon or harrow or a character of ur choosing !! < 333
already did gideon and harrow so i am going to do camilla now because i love her
favorite thing about them i really love how she's extremely competent. she's good at almost everything without being annoying about it and i think that is a hilarious and wonderful trait.
least favorite thing about them again, don't think i have one
favorite line ntn chapter 17 because i could have screamed out loud after reading this
“We are one flesh.” Clack. “I am your end.”
brOTP camilla and palamedes. idk i love how intertwined and codependent they are and also the banter is funny.
OTP okay i don't really ship cam with anyone because i like to headcanon her as acearo, but i do sometimes like cam/pyrrha and one-sided cam/pash LMAO.
nOTP i'm gonna be honest i don't like cam/corona. i think whatever the fuck corona's got going on with judith is WAY more interesting. also i don't really like cam/pal lmao sorryyyyyyyy
random headcanon she's had the same hairstyle since she was like two
unpopular opinion idk if this is unpopular but like. i don't think her and palamedes becoming paul was meant to be a positive thing. like it was a last resort option and while its subversive of typical cav/necro and lyctoral dynamics its not really in opposition to it. interested to see how this is developed further in atn.
also like idk if this is just me but people seem to forget how fucking smart camilla is. like i know she's always with pal but come on
song i associate with them
rubik's cube by athlete. i think it especially speaks to her ntn characterization.
Thousands of answers To one simple question Come take the weight off me, now I'm like a kid who just won't let it go Twisting and turning the colors in rows I'm so intent to find out what it is This is my Rubik's Cube I know I can figure it out
favorite picture of them oh its so hard to pick just one. some of my favorite drawings of cam are this one by @starrscribbles, this one by @gipki, this one by @youreafadedmoon, this one by @lulafia, and this one by @corvophobia. they are all incredibly beautiful pieces of art 💙
thank you so much for the ask!

Time to delve a little deeper into what I was talking about the other day cause this is where it really gets heavy into the topic. Just a heads up I’m gonna be treating Eugene’s prequel as canon compliant here.
So I can absolutely understand where both Rapunzel and Eugene are coming from in this scene. Eugene was a thief and that’s hardly the most positive career choice. And it is quite selfish of him considering he arguably not only dragged Lance into it but kept thieving even after he was pardoned. It is absolutely not okay that he stole things just so he could get a thrill out of life. Especially such important sentimental things like what he stole from the royal family. Considering that it was Arianna of all people who pardoned him, that is a HUGE betrayal on his part to steal from her.
However, I do think Rapunzel’s being unintentionally insensitive here. It was more than just a thrill for Eugene, being a thief was how he survived. It put as much bread on the table for himself and for his orphanage whenever he had the time. He grew up thinking prison foods were a delicacy, facing a lifetime in jail if not worse during one of the worst times in Corona’s history to be a poor person. And I think that specifically is something that never really clicks for Rapunzel, Eugene grew up pretty much hunted during the crime crackdown. And even before that he was living in Vardaros which aside from Captain Quaid was hardly even governed. He’s been scrapping coins long before he became a thief. And the way he saw it, Flynn Rider was a an escape from that. It gave him an identity and a way to help his found family.
And in terms of just the book character Flynn Rider, Eugene has every right to call it his legacy. He got Flynn Rider from Edmund, and one day he’ll pass it on to his and Rapunzel’s kids. Flynn was all he had, and although Rapunzel’s certainly not scorning his past out of malice I think she refused to see the nuance of it and understand that it’s not all black and white.

Anon wrote: Hello, Thank you for all the insightful posts . I am an INTP and the Issue I am having now Is I am born in a third world country in a small town not economically thriving . A non democratic country that doesn't teach you anything of substance , the elite kids go to the west and we the poor people have to study in rote memorization and passing the exam and before we know it the aha moment of how weak we are hit harder .
I dropped out from university in order to medicate myself from tuberculosis , and then I get cured , and the corona virus lock-down happened and then my father died and my aunt died . All have effected me deeply . The money I have saved for future interviews was wasted . And Now I am definitely in a Si loop , stuck and sometimes my mind and daydreaming sends me to dark places , wishing death upon myself , wanting to just end it , imagining myself being angry and hitting someone and hitting his face with my feet . I truly have become unhealthy and destructive . Feeling guilty , imagining how I could have done it better .
I constantly feel worthless and think how useless I am and how I wish I was never born because I am not going to be amounted to anything ever . The home situation is unhealthy , I have always been belittled , made feel worthless , insinuated to feel bad about myself . I remember since I was a kid , never felt loved or cared for , just been reminded how odd , slow , in my head , and not going to be as much as good as whom ever they compare me with .
I have an unhealthy ESFJ mother who can't be reasoned with . Explosive , hot temper , not logical or cares about clear communication . Her and my sister are truly insecure . I will Explain a scenario , we are in a bad economical situations , my brother triggered her , she started lashing out on everyone , cursing and insulting how useless we are without hearing or having a communication . I left to my room till they stop , because I can't handle this anger and drama where we can fix them if we think through things but she doesn't want to think or communicate . She confuses communication with complaining because for her communication is only a vehicle to use to release her hostile feelings and passive aggressiveness .
When I come back , she said why did I run to my room . I said I can't handle screams and this chaotic production of words . She said , you should and they started her and my sister : ISFJ , speaking at the same time , like literally at the same time . I asked them one by one , she said No why not listen to us both at the same time . Like what a hell is this . Here you notice and many patterns I have that they don't care about fixing the problem , they don't care about reasonably indulging members of the family to a conclusion , they want to release the tension . My mother specifically wants to release her hostile emotions , she wants us to feel belittled , useless , tell us how she is the only one who thinks about this issue and how useless we are and she thinks this is parenting , she thinks this is leadership.
Now I know since my father died who was an ISFJ , He was our only economical support and he was dutiful and doing his best to get me into a position where I can take the family but even he had issues with her , she swallowed him through her drama , passive aggressiveness , and her hostile attitude , belittling him too and comparing his lack of privilege to others who had far more advantage as if he had a choice in the cards he was given . Since this economical shortage only enraged her and made something to complain about and our household was not of kindness and mercy , I subtracted my needs since way back but my brother still takes from her money and she gives him and she comes back to complain and ruins the household .
The reason I brought my father is I feel bad for not doing anything for him and what a shame that he had no one to help him . He really deserved better and needed more care and love and I always felt unable to do anything when he had cancer . He apologized for me as if he felt bad for not doing enough for me . My friend . I really think and have evidence that my mother and family are unhealthy . I live in illiterate religious area , how do you think Fe and Si expression would be ? -- They don't care about reason , just any high status man who has money or is religious or looks religious matter and his opinion is far better and I , could speak for years and no one would care .
I think she is unsafe and unhappy and her hypergamic instinct produces this passive aggressive tests because she thinks by belittling us , we are going to somehow be motivated to provide and replace my father . She doesn't understand how the Ukraine|Russian war affected us , how our government changed policies to hire more females , she doesn't understand that I can't just get a job , it's all difficult in this competitive environment and I just have lost 3 years where tuberculosis , Corona virus lock-down , death of my father and the shock and depression this made me feel and let alone her training me to feel worthless isn't going to make me more optimistic individual because I can't even film myself speaking in a content creation out of fear and being self conscious of my voice nor dreaming of being able to be loved and desired by any female in romantic relationships to get out of this toxic voice in my head that hammers me and find some refuge in lovely partner .
I know I am unhealthy too - -- I read your study guides and my functions are all unhealthy and I could release the anger and hit someone or could not be able to contain myself and verbally defend myself if I get triggered . I am still studying to find a way to improve and optimally express all my functions but please with the contexts I have provided . How can you help me find answers to this following questions :
How can I remove this worthlessness and feeling I am useless from my mind and how I perceive myself ?
How can I trust that I would be able to get a job in this country and town ? I have limited skills like English and my native language because of time that was wasted ? [ I am planning to use the 4 Hour work week principle that prioritizes Te and Ni for effectiveness , working on skills to learn , 20/80 Analysis , low information diet , delegation and automation , and creating a product to sell to liberate myself from traditional 9 to 5 ] - I don't work in 9 to 5 Jobs . I Don't have any job now .
How can I deal with this toxic mother and her hostile attitude and her inability to be satisfied ? .
How I can heal the wounds that this mother infected me with since I speak to myself a lot and I get lost in my thoughts and she notices and doesn't try to understand , she tries to insult and belittles and laughs at me as if i am some crazy dude . It's the only place I feel safe and I have no friends and my mother doesn't talk to me except to release her tension , so I opt to my head and this had negative affects because my thoughts swallow me and I become self absorbed and any one notices I am speaking to myself and lost it . I do that because I am unhealthy , broke , unemployed , no job , and no healthy environment to drive me and give me help .
Do You think since I am unhealthy , I would waste time reading and consuming information about the study guide as some unhealthy coping mechanism and I should better opt to just exercise a few Ne Activities to drive myself out of my self and subjective narrative and my family and explore few experiments rather than read every detail and wait till I finish to exercise my functions ? Like see how Ne world is good and come back to reflect .
-----------------------
1. "Feelings" of worthlessness or uselessness are simply judgments (about yourself). In order for judgments to be sound, one must arrive at the conclusions properly, through logic and reason. This is the basis of having good critical thinking skills.
For instance, you say you "fell behind" in career goals due to physical illness. Was the illness intentionally caused by you or was it under your control? If not, should you hold yourself responsible for the consequences of being ill? Are you going to call every physically ill person in the world worthless/useless because, through no fault of their own, they have diminished capacity to achieve their goals? If so, I see no difference between you and your mother when it comes to the way you harshly and unfairly judge people.
Are you exercising good critical thinking when you make a judgment or draw a conclusion? If not, you need to improve upon it, in order for Ti to regain control over your cognition. You must have a reliable process of scrutinizing and validating your belief system, otherwise, on what basis are you going to make good decisions for yourself? When Ti is absent, Fe grip will keep haunting you.
2. Trusting the world comes with Ne development. It means venturing out into the world. It means trying and experimenting and seeing what happens. It means going to wherever the opportunities are. It means thinking of ways to make the best use of what you have. It means turning the negative into a net positive.
In other words, Ne is an extraverted function that requires initiative, ingenuity, and action. Ne is not about your predictions of the future; it's about making things happen. You can always find something good to express gratitude for. You can always find a silver lining in a negative situation. You can always visualize potential for change and improvement. But the key is to have an attitude of openness that keeps your eyes and ears attuned to opportunity. Are you nurturing Ne openness in yourself, or are you quick to reject ideas because they are "imperfect"? Whether things are perfect or imperfect is missing the point. The point is that things can be changed as long as you're willing to put in the work to change them.
3. The answer is boundaries. I've already written about the difficulty of drawing healthy boundaries in family relationships, especially parent-child relationships, consult past posts. Because there is so much history and, in some cases, so much bad blood between family members, it's easy to get stuck in negative patterns of behavior, and very difficult to change them even when you want to. Old habits are hard to break.
I always say that an essential aspect of growing up is learning how to view your parents as human beings rather than treating them as mere symbols of your personal ego drama. Was your father a "saint"? Is your mother a "villain"? These are symbols that reveal the flaws and biases of your perception. In the end, your parents are simply people. Every person is multifaceted. If you only ever see one aspect of someone, your eyes need adjustment.
Put yourself in your mother's shoes. Your mother also lives in the bleak sociopolitical environment you live in, with few economic opportunities. She has also experienced disappointments and heartbreaks. She has also had her hopes and dreams dashed. You share a lot more in common with her than you believe. To be clear, this is not meant to be an excuse for her negative behavior but, rather, a call for you to exercise empathy.
When you get a deeper understanding of why people behave as they do, you will be less inclined to blame and more inclined to maintain healthy relationship boundaries. The key to dealing with toxic people is to maintain proper emotional distance from them, rather than getting entangled with them and constantly embroiled in their dramas. To have healthy relationships in general, you must i) know the difference between "my business" and "not my business", and ii) stop involving yourself in things that aren't your business.
Her issues and problems are hers, so don't take them on as yours. It's not your responsibility to satisfy her demands. It's not your responsibility to live up to her expectations of you. Your only responsibility, in moral terms, is simply to be a good person. This raises an important question of whether you understand what it means to be "good". Do you have your own ideas about it or do you default to what your family taught you, since your judgments about yourself closely echo your mother's judgments about you?
Do you know what intergenerational trauma is? It's when families transmit the negative effects of unresolved hurt, pain, suffering, abuse, and trauma from one generation to the next. You are now consumed by pain and anger, not unlike your mom, so are you going to unwittingly transmit it to everyone you come into contact with? Or are you going to be the one to stop the cycle of trauma by taking responsibility for your pain and suffering? By seeking help, you're proving that you care enough to change the situation. I understand that your options are limited for healing your pain and trauma, so I will focus mainly on what you can do on your own.
4. With regard to Anger: If you don't want to end up like your mother, hurting everyone around her, then you have to confront the pain, you have to soothe the anger properly, and you have to challenge yourself to do things differently. This is achieved through Ne. Envision your better self and be it. Envision a better life and live it. Envision more possibilities and bring good ideas to life. By training your mind to be focused on always building something better, there is little space remaining for things like anger and blame.
I completely agree that your family environment is incredibly toxic. However, I cannot agree with blame. Blame is a mental trap. It is an immature and illusory way to feel strong and powerful. It only leaves you worse off physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. For all the sound and fury that blame entails, at the end of the day, you remain in pain because you've trapped yourself in perpetual victimhood. Without adequate health and well-being, will you have the mental energy you require for improving yourself and your life?
You can't have it both ways; you can't feed the negative aspects of your psyche and still hope to get back in touch with the positive aspects of yourself. Is the anger worth sacrificing your health and well-being for? Are you attached to the anger because you like the self-righteousness or because you want revenge? If so, you are choosing the negative over the positive, and you must take full responsibility for that choice. If you don't like it, choose differently.
With regard to Despair: When you feel angry, it means that something is broken and requires fixing. In this case, the relationship is broken and your boundaries have been violated. Like any reasonable person, you hope it can be fixed and the love salvaged. However, when confronted with the impossibility of fixing the relationship, despair follows.
Many people get held back and held down by despair because it can feel like a safer emotion than hope. Why? Despair is predictable in that you can maintain the status quo of known pain, whereas hope opens you up to new and accumulative hurt and disappointment through trying and failing again and again. As soon as sinking into despair seems like the better option to you, you are stuck deep in Si loop.
A person with good emotional intelligence doesn't succumb to emotions, rather, they take time to understand them and use them wisely. By putting despair in the right perspective, it can become an incredibly powerful emotion. Despair indicates you've suffered great loss and feel hopeless. However, in order to feel the loss, you must've placed great value on something to begin with. From this perspective, despair can open your eyes to what is most precious and valuable in your life. For example, despair over family conflict reveals how much you value your family, and despair about your career reveals how much you value your future self. When you know what you value most, it's easier to make good decisions for your well-being.
Despair is meant to teach you how to let go of the things you've lost. Oftentimes, people suffer because they are too attached to the things that bring them pain. Being unable to give up the attachment, they must bear the pain as a consequence. Logically, if you don't want the pain of despair, you must let go of the attachments that bring you despair.
Some people might misinterpret "letting go" as license to "detach" from the world and live on a metaphorical island, abandoning all the things they don't like. Quite the contrary. These people have failed the first test of emotional intelligence because they believe that their emotions are caused by external factors, so they try to cut out those factors.
The fact is that your feelings and emotions belong to you. They are generated by you, therefore, it is up to you to either answer them or change them. Your feelings are closely tied to your beliefs about the world, the way you think about things, and the way you judge things. When I say that you need to "let go", it means you have to change the way you think, give up old ideas, so that your beliefs better line up with your new reality. When you let go of mental attachments that distort your view of reality, you become much more capable of participating in reality. You will no longer feel bound and trapped by your own imagined expectations of how the world "should" be.
Career Example: Have you heard the saying "The best-laid plans of mice and men often go awry"? No matter how well you plan things, unexpected accidents or misfortunes still happen. While it's good to have plans and look forward to achieving goals, it's not good to be so single-minded that you are incapable of adapting to change. When plans go awry, you are encountering a crossroads and have to make a decision about which way to go. Do you try to keep going with the same plan? Do you tweak and adjust the plan to better suit the change of circumstances? Do you abandon the old plan and come up with a new one? These are all possible strategies.
Family example: Do you understand that a toxic relationship dynamic requires two people to keep it going? Both you and your mother are attached to ideal images of how the other "should" be. By imposing these images upon each other, you are both failing to respect each other, you are both violating the boundary that should exist between you as separate and independent individuals, and you are both hurting each other with harsh judgments and criticisms. While you might keep your judgments and criticisms to yourself more than she does, their very existence represents something negative within you that wants to lash out and be violent. She most likely inherited that violence from her family growing up and she has now transmitted it to you, which means it is now yours to deal with. All of us have inherited some negative things from family. It's part of your personal journey of growth to become aware of them and change them.
To a certain extent, you "allow" your mother to hurt you because you love her. If she were anyone else, you probably would've abandoned them long ago for such nasty behavior, or you wouldn't even be bothered by their criticism. Your mother's behavior brings you pain because you want her approval and love. However, if you were to drop your attachment to what you believe she "should" be (e.g. a loving, nurturing, motherly saint), you may suddenly find yourself capable of seeing the reality of what she is. When you take time to see and understand people more objectively (i.e. practice empathy), you won't take their behavior so personally. The reality is that her behavior isn't directed at you. Her behavior is an expression of her own pain and suffering, directed at her own failures and dashed hopes. But you take it personally because she's failing to meet your expectations of her, and then you fashion her into a villain. Think more reasonably: If you believe you ought to have the freedom to be you, you also have to grant others the freedom to be who they are.
The takeaway point is that the way through despair is to let go of the attachments that bring you pain. It could be attachment to an idealized image of how people/you "should" be, an ideal concept of "meaning", or an ideal path that you have set for your life. Ideals are mere mental constructs, so they can be changed at will. You defined them, so you can "undefine" them and redefine them. Attachments that lead you to deny reality are like a black hole in your mind, sucking up all your mental energy. By letting them go, your mind becomes truly free for something new. But you have to be brave enough to leave the known behind and venture into the unknown with fresh eyes, open mind, and different choices -> Ne.
5. I don't consider it my place to tell people how to live their life. You need to learn how to exercise your best judgment, which means ensuring that your process of making decisions is fair, impartial, objective and well-informed. In terms of your mental health, it's a good idea for you to get out of the home as much as possible, away from your mother's abuse. Try to find safer spaces to explore your ideas and possibilities. Try to engage in activities, interests, or hobbies that bring you some relief, even joy. Try to make friends with people who can bring you comfort or help you out of your situation.

Chapter 5 of Nona the Ninth
Tumblr media
I guess this is why she always gives her fruit away to the kids? I wonder why she doesn't like it anymore
Tumblr media
Then I guess she did get radicalized? Only, Nona knows Corona, and has interacted with her, and Palamedes says she isn't their friend anymore, so presumably she was still considered a friend during the course of As Yet Unsent and during at least some of the time that Nona was around, but something has changed in the meantime. I wonder what exactly Corona knows about Camilla and Palamedes' situation or Pyrrha, since presumably she would have told anything she knew to We Suffer, I'm assuming, but she's not a necromancer so she could be totally in the dark about all this
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I'm not sure why Palamedes thinks this can't be a reason for Nona to love Corona? People are more positively disposed towards pretty people because they are pretty, like, this is just a basic fact about human psychology, and children with limited experience of the world are more positively disposed towards everyone that shows them a bit of kindness, even if those people aren't actually treating them well, because they don't have enough experience to know what is normal/good. And we also know that Nona loves this city that's pretty objectively shitty right now, because she doesn't have any experience of any other place that she remembers, and she loves her friends who all laugh at her for being dumb and tell her that she's ugly because she perceives that she's part of a social structure and has some social status when she's with them, because she doesn't remember gaining that kind of status another way from kinder people. This is pretty normal stuff for someone with Nona's amount of world experience, I think
Tumblr media
And Palamedes can also do necromancy in Camilla's body, it continues to appear that there isn't really any difference between a necromancer's body and a non-necromancer's body. But if Nona still has healing abilities, why does Palamedes need to do this?
Tumblr media
He says it's because "she has the wrong kind of body" but that doesn't actually make sense with the rest of what he says here. He says the effect of the resurrection beast is based on which soul is in charge, not on the body, and they can totally avoid problems with that by just limiting how often Palamedes is in charge. If the body had something to do with it, you would think that Palamedes could be in charge as long as he wanted and it would be fine. And Pyrrha isn't affected at all and doesn't have to take any kind of precautions despite having "the right kind" of body to be affected, Palamedes says her soul is protecting her body, but if a non-necromantic soul can protect a necromantic body, why can't Camilla's body also protect Palamedes? It doesn't seem like the bodies have anything to do with it
Palamedes being in charge too much hurting Camilla's body I think supports the general hypothesis that bodies are damaged by prolonged exposure to thanergy, and that's why necromancers are so much weaker than non-necromancers
Tumblr media
So I guess they record messages for each other, and listen to them afterwards? This is a really strange kind of Lyctorhood - you pledge your whole life to someone forever, and then you enter a state where you can never speak with them face-to-face ever again, even though they are still around and can talk to other people about you, and vice versa. And Pyrrha was stuck with this for 10,000 years, and couldn't even tell anyone about it. It must have been weird to be called by her actual name again after all those years, unless she told Wake about her situation?
Tumblr media
I wonder how exactly Pyrrha and Nona arrived here and what exactly BOE even knows or thinks about them. I guess they must have just been taken to this planet (or wherever Camilla wound up) randomly by the River, but how did that appear to BOE? Corona would have recognized Nona as Harrow, and would know that Harrow is a Lyctor based on their conversation on that one planet, but I'm guessing they don't know Pyrrha's history
Tumblr media
I wonder why she said that? Does We Suffer have any reason to think of Nona as something other than an enemy?
Tumblr media
So what I'm getting from this is that Nona is just really good at imitating people. She is good at imitating people, and reading body language, but somehow not good at lying (or at least, she doesn't think she is, but she has been successfully lying to the teachers about her origin for a while now). But it seems like it took her a while to have decent motor control over her own body, so maybe it's related to that

5 - the new student who wants to learn (5)
In Diana and Selene's absence, the Boys of Destiny took responsibility for ______'s training, helping her to hone her powers and improve her combat techniques, in the hope of recovering her memories as Princess Dalia in this way. With beaming eyes and a determined smile on his face, Eugene teleported her to Tritonis. Located 60 km from the Silver Palace, Tritonis is one of the provinces conquered by the Coronas Plateadas and also home to the colossal ruins of the Celestial Arena. Once an imposing structure perched above the Silver Millennium, they now found themselves in a state of decay and disrepair. The arena, which was once the scene of epic battles between celestial warriors, and iconic conflicts between Solarian soldiers from El Dourado and Lunar fighters from the Silver Millennium, was now in ruins, with collapsed walls and broken columns. The vaulted ceiling, which used to be ornamented with scenes of celestial battles, now had large holes that allowed sunlight to penetrate inside. The stadium floor was littered with broken stones and rubble, and the stands that used to seat thousands of spectators were now empty and covered in moss. Some of the marble staircases leading up to the stands were still intact, but many others had collapsed.
Despite its decay, it still exuded an aura of grandeur and mystery. Its walls and columns were decorated with intricate carvings and geometric patterns that seemed to move and change shape as the sunlight changed position. In some spots, fragments of colorful mosaics could still be seen, reminding visitors that the arena was once a masterpiece of celestial art and architecture.
Regardless of its current seemingly useless condition, the ancient Celestial Arena is still a sacred place to many denizens of the Silver Millennium, where its walls tell tales of how the strongest celestial warriors fought to defend their worlds and their royalty. The ruins continued to exude a sense of power and grandeur even in their decayed state, a testament to the greatness that was once lunar civilization.
Eugene's chest filled with euphoria as he looked at the majestic ruins, remembering his History of Magic lessons given by Selene and DK, but ______ remained indifferent to his excitement.
"Oh ______, don't you think this place is amazing?"
"Where are we again?"
"WHAT DO YOU MEAN WHERE ARE WE?!?!?!" Eugene yelled "This is the grand Celestial Arena! Iconic setting of the Eclipse War! A masterpiece of Silver Millennial architecture!"
"To you, because to me this is all a useless bunch of broken rocks." _____ rolled his eyes
"Are you kidding me? It was here that your highness commanded an army of Lunari mages and high-ranking warriors from the Corona Plateadas to drive the Solaris and an echelon of enhanced humans with Sun magic from Tritonis!"
"And she won?"
"SHE WON!" the young paladin shouted
"Wow! What does Selene offer you that is so good to talk about her with such animation and eloquence?"
"She gave us everything! A place in her kingdom, new adventures, knowledge and the authority to silence your rants and start training!"
"If you insist." _____ laughed through his nose
Eugene and ______ were in position, ready to begin magical combat training. The paladin had his holy sword drawn, while the reincarnated fairy princess floated in the air with a determined look in her eyes.
He began to move quickly, using his teleportation ability to get closer to the fairy princess. She, in turn, used her gravity control powers to create a barrier that prevented the paladin from advancing. He tried to lash out with his sword, but she used her telekinesis to dodge the blow.
He charged forward, lunging with his sword as _____ dodged deftly and hurled small blue balls of light in his direction. He defended himself with his sword, blocking each attack with precision.
So she decided to change her tactics. She closed her eyes and concentrated on her telepathy power, reading Eugene's thoughts to discover her weaknesses. She found he was thinking of one of the ancient statues, especially those representing Selene's ancient guardians.
She opened her eyes and focused on one of the statues of Artemis, the oldest of Selene's guardians. She channeled her telekinetic power, making the statue move and appear to approach Eugene. The paladin was momentarily distracted, allowing her to attack with more intensity.
He realized her friend's delusion and quickly composed himself, lunging forward and slashing with his sword. With no time to dodge, she was hit and fell to the ground, but she got up immediately.
"I have to admit, you are becoming a strong opponent, _____" said Eugene, with a smile. "But there's still a lot to learn."
The two looked at each other for a moment, before pulling away from each other. They knew they still had a lot to learn and perfect in their magical combat powers, but they were willing to put in the effort to become stronger. After all, they would have to be ready to protect the Silver Millennium from any threat.

Sooha, after winning last year's battle against Dardan, the Prime Vampire, has been reborn as Selen, princess of Opole, a cold kingdom 65 km north of the capital of the Silver Millennium. Known for its stalwart Emerald Grape vines and prime boar meat, Opole, once a kingdom whose Lunari were enslaved by Dardan in a darkness that seemed eternal, its now free, but Sooha had made a great sacrifice to stop them and his vampires from New Moon. She absorbed the blood and spirit of Vahgr, the wolf-god, thus awakening her powers as a Lunari princess, giving up her mortality to fight alongside Heli and his brothers. Now, she had transformed into a semi-mortal woman, more powerful and confident and endowed with an enviable beauty for her future subjects.
Her hair, once dark and silky, now became a cascade of silver strands, shining like the moonlight, cascading down her shoulders, highlighting her deep, piercing blue eyes. Her skin took on a pale, radiant, almost ethereal hue, complemented by her peach-sweet rosy lips. Her pale skin seems lit by moonlight, and her delicate but determined features convey her newfound strength and power. She is dressed in a long ice-blue formal gown embroidered with silver threads that shimmer in the moonlight. The dress has long sleeves and a high collar that protects her from the bitter cold of Opole's kingdom. Her feet are covered in brown leather boots that go up to the knee, providing protection from snow and ice. She was sitting at her oak desk, with a stack of History of Magic books stacked in front of her. Her tutor, a gray-haired wise old man, sat beside her, reading silently as she flipped through the pages. As she read the stacked books, some of her past life memories flashed back with each lunar cycle, but still she had a lot to learn about her lineages, so the tutor was responsible for updating her on the new customs of this new Lunar Empire. He, a gray-haired wise old man, sat beside her, reading in silence as she flipped through the pages. He was reading aloud from an ancient book about the lineage of Lunari queens and their deeds.
"Interesting, isn't it?" The tutor remarked, his gaze lifting from his tome. "All matrons of the Kynthos lineage are renowned for their potent sorcery and just governance. They have been the architects of numerous notable accomplishments within the realm of wizardry, amassing devotees with each lunar cycle and amassing triumphs against the nefarious Sun Empire."
"So, is there any chance that I will one day become the Queen of the Silver Millennium?" she asked the tutor, with a hint of hope in her voice.
"Verily, nay, Your Grace."
"What? Why not?"
"Since the ascension of Queen Selene I, hath been established a tribal royal matriarchy within thine empire. Each house of the Lunari elite doth select its representative, and a Celestial Assembly is opened every 3,000 years to elect the next Mother Moon to assume the throne."
"So even with my powers awake..." she asked wistfully
The tutor shook his head in response.
"Apologies, my princess, but neither thy lineage, nor the house to which Your Excellency belongs, hath been revealed. This doth signify that thou shalt have to await the next Celestial Assembly, in approximately 3000 years' time, when the next mother-moon shall be chosen."
Sooha lowered her head in dismay. She has always wondered about her future and wondered if one day she would be able to rule over the Silver Millennium. But now, the thought of waiting another 3000 years to find out if she had a chance seemed like an eternity.
"That's a long time! How can I wait so long to discover my destiny?"
The tutor stood up." Thou art young, my lady. Thou hast much time ahead and much to learn. Who knows what the future holds?
She sighed and nodded. She knew her tutor was right. There was so much she needed to know and a lot to keep preparing for any eventuality. After all, she was still a Lunari princess in training and had important responsibilities to fulfill.
With that in mind, she turned her attention back to History of Magic classes, determined to learn all she could about the Lunari queens' lineage and the Silver Millennium's future, with her professor about to emerge from the bookshop to give her privacy to pursue her studies, but just as she was about to leave, the princess asked about an image in her book: a silhouette of a tall woman, with long flowing straight white hair who was wearing a long white dress and a silver crown on top of her head. In her hands she held tightly her staff that emanated an intense silver light, with black chains of pure malachite pointed towards another woman, whose long black hair fell in a cascade over her shoulders, like a cloud of darkness. Her eyes were an intense red glow, with an expression of fury on her face.
"Sir Marek, what is this?"
"Sadly, thou hast uncovered a dark chapter in thy history, Majesty: the Triad Civil War."
"Triad, Civil War?" she asked in a terrified tone
Marek grabbed the book off her desk, open to that dreaded chapter in the History of Magic. With his hands he invoked his illusion magic to show those images, as he told the story.
"The Triad Civil War began when the New Moon Witch and her army of corrupted vampires invaded the Silver Millennium. The newly crowned Queen Selene, in her youth, led her mother Diana's troops to combat the threat, but the witch was a powerful sorceress, and her dark abilities were difficult to confront. The battle was long, and many lives were lost. However, eventually, Selene managed to drive out the witch and her followers to Alexandrite, which once was a sanctuary of pure moon magic. Sadly, corruption, hatred, and the thirst for revenge spread throughout the kingdom in the form of an intense, toxic, and corrosive mist in shades of red, purple, and dark green, pure darkness. Thus, Alexandrite transformed into Obsidian, a ruined realm filled with dark magic, nightmares, and tormented spirits. It became a frightening and perilous place that no one dares to visit."
Sooha listened attentively to the story and imagined what would become of that place. She wondered if the New Moon witch was still there, ruling over the corrupted vampires and guessed that her dear friends from Decelis Academy might be those vampires. She felt a shiver run down her spine just thinking about it and shook her head to skake it off this thought.
"What happened with the New Moon Witch?" She asked.
"Verily, Your Highness, no soul knoweth for certain. 'Tis said she doth still reside there, ruling Obsidian with an iron fist. Yet, there be no recent accounts of visitors to the realm, or if there be any, they ne'er hath been made known, for those who dared venture into Obsidian were consumed by the New Moon's corruption and never did return." he answered.
She closed the book and looked out the window, wondering what was going on in Obsidian right now. She wondered if she would ever be strong enough to face the witch and her followers. She was determined to find out. If her destiny as a princess was to stop her, she will train hard until that impure woman's sins are paid for.

Solaria is a city built around a huge arena, surrounded by high walls of golden stone, located in the center of the El Dorado Empire. The city has a vibrant and energetic atmosphere, and is known as the most renowned military training center in the empire, where the strongest and most skilled soldiers are trained to serve the Horak, the Solari army.
The arena is the heart of Solaria, and is used to train and test soldiers' combat skills. It is a large circle of yellow sand, surrounded by raised stands, where high-ranking officers watch training and mock battles. Surrounding the arena are many barracks, training academies, meditation areas, and classrooms where soldiers learn the most advanced tactics and strategy.
Its buildings are all built in golden stone, with details in red and orange, the colors of the sun. There are many sun flags throughout the site, symbolizing the soldiers' loyalty to the empire and the sun. The city is bustling and noisy, with soldiers in training marching through the streets and officers moving around in carriages.
It is also known for its golden tower working as a meeting place for elite Solari diplomats, who come to discuss treaties and political agreements with the empire. There are many luxury hotels and fine restaurants in the city, catering to the needs of diplomats. However, the atmosphere is still dominated by militarism and loyalty to the sun, which are the foundations of the El Dorado empire.
Now Diana and Selene were in the meeting room, ready to negotiate a peace treaty between the Empires of the Sun and the Moon. Diana sat in a chair, while Selene stood beside her, her hands clasped in front of her. In front of her was a large table, with representatives of the El Douradorian elite seated on the other side. Among them are Ra, ambassador of El Dorado, Marshal Surya, leader of Golden Vanguard warriors, Vivasvan, nephew of Apollo, judge of the house of Delos, the family responsible for the Judiciary power of the empire, Inti, priest of the Golden Temple and Nefrita, healer and leader of the Farmers of Medicinal Plants. Everyone was seated at a round table, with Diana and Selene in front of them.
"Thank you for the invitation, ambassadors." Selene and Diana bowed.
"The honor is ours, Scorn of the Moon." Vivasvan bowed back
"My nephew was right to summon you, as we face an emergency situation!"
"Well, say it." Diana exclaimed in a firm voice
"Hordes of shadows are attacking our roadside and scaring away tourists from our Empire! Something needs to be done!" dictated Surya
"We understand. What can we do to get around this situation?"
"We demand that Clan Kynthos take responsibility for this crisis!" roared Ra
"This is nonsense, Ambassador!" The soldier slammed both hands on the table and stood up "Our family has no involvement in these attacks!"
"How not? Hecate, the unholy witch you consider your daughter, was in power millennia ago." accused Apollo "Didn't you stop to think that your daughter might be sending these shadows to seize the throne and thus plot a coup against our glorious Empire?"
And for over 2 hours, Diana and the Solari ambassadors argued and verbally abused each other, losing control of their mental faculties, generating a massive wave of negative energy, one that Selene could see from a thousand miles away. outside the hall, Selene also saw lurking shadows feeding on this aura. For a long time she was silent, watching them trade insults and vilify their authorities, until 3 hours later, she got up and angrily slammed her fist under the table.
"ENOUGH!" Selene screamed, her brow furrowed and her teeth as white as moonlight clenched together. "ENOUGH OF THESE BASELESS INUSTS!"
"HOW DARE YOU, LITTLE GIRL!?" Apollo snapped "WHO ARE YOU TO RAISE YOUR VOICE WITH US?!?!"
"I am Selene, Silver Millennium's queen and future empress of Elysium! As the highest authority of the Kynthos clan, I will not tolerate my family being slandered in this way! If this is the ONLY way to negotiate peace between the Sun and Moon peoples, then I will refuse your preposterous conditions! As long as I live, our Lunari kind won't no longer…"
"DAUGHTER, WATCH OUT!"
The marshal of the Corona Plateadas noticed that one of the shadows was going to hurt her with its poisonous malachite claws, but with her silver steel katana, with its curved and sharp tip, she cut the hand that would attack her daughter.
"Everyone, get out of here! This is an ambush!" Diana ordered
A dark green toxic and corrosive mist raged across Solaria. The Solarian citizens suffocated, intoxicated by the evil mist. But Diana and Selene, the Lunari leaders, were not intimidated, with the swing of Selene's staff, they teleported out of the arena and directly confronted the shadows, however, these shadows were different from the others, they were taller, more robust and they had an almost indestructible physical body that regenerates with each injured member, even so, they advanced and struck tirelessly in the hope of finding a weak point for those creatures, however, Diana lost her daughter in the pursuit. Cornered like a silverwing caged by a hunter, the marshal tries to move in the face of the fog, but is hit by a sudden movement in her back. Due to the force of the blow, she let her sword slip from her fingers, losing her body balance until she fell unconscious on her stomach. At the same time that her mother was slaughtered, Selene felt her heart sink. After expelling the shadows from a tapestry stall in the open market, she noticed the mist lifting and ran towards the battle site, but only found a still, pale and bloody body, with a huge tear in her dress and an open wound. in your column. The mother moon knelt down and let her boiling tears of anger fall on her face. She dug her nails into the sand and lifted her head, screaming her chest open. Next to her was Nefrita and her healer followers, still confused and in shock from the attack on the tower, Nefrita asked with a hand placed on the mother moon's shoulder.
"Mrs.Kynthos, what happened?"
However, Selena's time seemed to run out again, when he saw clouds of darkness covering the golden and burning sun of Solaria. Meanwhile, footsteps of shadows covered the ground, accompanied by a tall woman in the center, that was Melinoe, the Shadow Caller.
Melinoe, the Shadow Caller, exudes an aura of enigmatic allure. With long, flowing ebony locks cascading down her back, she is the embodiment of darkness personified. Her eyes, a mesmerizing shade of deep malachite, seem to hold the secrets of the night itself, hinting at the power she wields.
Clad in a flowing cloak of midnight black, adorned with intricate silver symbols, she moves with an ethereal grace. Her slender fingers, adorned with darkened rings, effortlessly command the shadows to dance at her will. Her pale complexion contrasts against the darkness surrounding her, further accentuating her mysterious presence.
Melinoe's attire is a reflection of her connection to the shadows. She wears a gown of black silk, fitted yet flowing, as if it were crafted from the essence of darkness itself. Intricate patterns of silver, green and red thread traced in the edges, shimmering in the faint light. A medley of feathers and chains hang delicately from her waist, each carrying a hint of ancient magic.
As she glides through the shadows, her voice resonates like a haunting melody, invoking a sense of both fear and fascination. Her enchanting presence is a testament to her mastery over the shadows, drawing all who witness her into the depths of her enigmatic world. She stands as a captivating figure towards the Mother Moon with a malicious smile as she watches Selene growl in anger. Her deep blue eyes didn't stray from the witch for even a minute and his teeth clenched, brow furrowed and fists clenched, showed complete hostility towards the witch. tThe witch grinned with the queen's despair, leaving those who encountered her in both awe and trepidation.
"Greetings, Your Majesty." Melinoe said
"Miss, what does all that mean?" The healer asked in shock.
"We have no time to lose." she responded by handing her mother's body over to Nefrita's arms. "Take my mother as far away as you can."
The queen got up panting and tried to punch the woman, but she dodged it easily. Shadows dance around Melinoe and Selene as they engage in an intense battle. Selene, driven by fury and determination, launches luminous attacks with her lunar energy, while Melinoe summons darkness to envelop her in a mist of shadows.
Selene fights with all her might, her sword gleaming silver as she swings in with quick, accurate slashes. However, Melinoe, skilled in her dark art, dodges with agility and counterattacks with sinister spells, seeking to weaken her opponent.
Despite the queen's best efforts, she finds herself at a disadvantage in the face of her dark magic. Every blow she lands is blocked or dispelled by the shadows, and she feels the weariness weigh on her wounded body. Determined to avenge her injured mother, she draws on all her reserves of energy, but it doesn't seem to be enough.
With a heavy heart and heavy breathing, she kneels on the ground, feeling her impending defeat. Tears of frustration and anger slide down her cheeks as she looks up at dark sky, seeking the strength to carry on.
In the midst of despair, Selene closes her eyes and her lips move in a silent prayer. Waves of silver energy envelop her body and propagate through the air, depositing the maximum hope from the bottom of her heart, expecting that her prayer will be answered.
A/N: New chapter at the NEW moon? Not much usual, but since this chapter has relevance for the future, I needed to post it like this.
A/N²: Also, for everyone's happiness (or unhappiness), Sooha is back.
Tumblr media
A/N³: But, she's back too! Nice to write you, Sowon!

1 and 18!
Let's do 1, since we did 18 already! baseball (softball) ahead.
___
“Hey hey hey, uh uh!” Jane shouts, waving her bottle out at Korsak who stands in the shortstop position, the amber sloshing against the orange of another summer sunset in Boston. “We’re playin’ DCU next week. You gotta be at least ten feet to your right when Hemphill comes up.”
She’s next to Maura, loose from being about three beers in and leaning her left hand on the knob of her Marucci bat while it stands in the dirt behind home plate. Jane isn’t really a Corona drinker, but again, it is summer, and Maura loves to watch the wedge of lime bob up and down in the liquid like Jane’s voice box when she laughs.
Maura leans on her own bat, mirroring Jane as best she can, and Jane turns to her, she pushes closer - barrels tipping toward each other. She’s a few beers in, too, just happy to be invited, honestly. Finally. And how best to repay Jane for including her? Some good old-fashioned ribbing - Jane’s favorite. “Are you sure practice for a beer league game should be this intense?” Maura asks as she chuckles.
Jane scoffs. Their pinkies brush. Even though Jane’s is in a batting glove, it's electric. “Listen, new kid. Question my process when we start losin’, a’right?”
Maura sputters because she’s still thinking about the little dance of phalanges Jane seems dead set on not acknowledging. “I- I…”
“You…?” teases Jane, and shit, there it is again. “Watch Korsak wheeze when he breaks for this ground ball,” she whispers, right as knuckles rub on knuckles. Quick, but obvious. “Frankie! You’re up! This is as close to homicide as your ass is gonna get!”
Does she know? Should Maura not know? Maura knows. Maura feels it and bone on bone sends little flint sparks all the way to between her legs. But Jane’s not looking at her, Jane’s looking at her brother and taking a generous gulp of alcohol. But then, Jane speaks again. This time whispery, intimate. “You comin’ to the Robber after this?”
Maura blushes and indulges in a happy, sweet smile. Jane isn’t looking, might as well. “You’re going to go drink more after this?” She asks, recovering from her prior nervousness. She nods over to the open cooler over by the entrance to the empty park bleachers, clear bottlenecks sticking out just above a sea of ice.
“I’ll get an Uber,” Jane explains, tugging her voice down like she’s a little guilty. “But I’m only goin’ if you do.” Then, she pushes up to stand straight, heading toward the plate.
Maura blinks rapidly until Jane’s statement sinks in. Then she startles, and follows. “Wait, Jane! You’re only going out with your friends if I go?”
Jane tugs her sleeve up on her left shoulder just before she steps in the faded box. She refuses to glance Maura’s way, but now she’s smiling, too. “I’m going wherever you go tonight. Now let me get my work in, yeah?”
