Rhaenys will always be the true Queen. Her ability to see the bigger picture and her commitment to avoid spiteful behavior is something everyone on that fucking show needs to learn from. Knowing she had to be murdered for some moron rapist would-be king that shouldn't be anywhere near her throne will never ever sit right with me. Even as she marches off to her death she does so in stride and without complaint, literally offering herself up willingly. Even as she is disrespected by the man she loves, and has been faithful to all her life, in plain view for everyone to see. She still manages to show her husbands bastard more humanity and respect than his own deadbeat father. She has done nothing to anyone. She did not raise hell when her throne was taken, she simply accepted it and chose to hold no spite in her heart for her cousin. Opting for peace always, as a true leader should. When her daughter and son were taken she mourned alone, abandoned for six years by a cheating husband who claimed to love her dearly. Worst part is he did love her, but in the end he was just another man that didn't know what else to do but take from her without listening. In the end all she really had left was Meleys, and she had to watch her die too.

I'm actually so sick rn this is such foul work, we didn't even get to see her say goodbye to her beloved granddaughters. Or even a real goodbye with Corlys :/

So, you guys are actually so funny because we thought a poll would help us decide which fic to publish first, but it was evenly split! @evebestt ended up having to flip a coin. So you guys get this one first. Lol. For those who chose A Distant Shore, you won't have to wait too long for the next update (promise). A belated romantic comedy set during the holidays because we wanted to write something soft and silly. <3

Corlys "Sea Snake" Velaryon x Rhaenys Targaryen, the Queen Who Never Was

Corlys Velaryon, Lord of Driftmark, was the greatest navigator of his age and one of the richest men in the kingdom.

Rhaenys was the eldest of Jaehaerys I's grandchildren, daughter of his eldest son Aemon.

Despite the age gap, Corlys was Rhaenys' choice and the marriage was harmonious. They had two children, Laena and Laenor.

Corlys, however, was an ambitious man: he never accepted that his bloodline had been discarded for the throne in favor of Viserys, and over the years he tried several times to make up for it, first by proposing Laena as a second wife for Viserys and then by marrying Laenor to the chosen heir Rhaenyra, but he never got to see his blood on the throne: Laenor died early, all his three sons with Rhaenyra died during the civil war known as the Dance of the Dragons, the same one in which Rhaenys perished, while his granddaughters Baela and Rhaena (Laena's daughters) were later discarded as possible rulers in favor of Aegon III, son of Rhaenyra and Daemon Targaryen.
