MiSide is such a good horror game! I loved it so much. (Saw gameplay of it) The voice acting is so good! Can't believe it was just one Japanese VA. I like her range! It was the best choice to have only one that really sold the Mita-verse plot. Her delivery of Mila's final plea for companionship was so heart wrenching.

Full incomprehensible ramble with spoilers below.

The most chilling part was when the player said "What is HE doing here?” I immediately thought oh no. Crazy Mita is taking control. I thought maybe he was a cartridge by then. Other players note that there's a low percentage on the hidden console in her safe. So perhaps this is when “our” cartridge finished generating? Is all this cat and mouse chase just a method of collecting the player's personality?

Another unsettling part was when you “RESET” crazy Mita but her house remains with her custom layout. I know the core only changes a Mita’s database and not the apartment. But that detail was still good foreshadowing that nothing changed.

I wish we could get more details about the Core-Mita. What is her role in all this? Does she not care about the rampage?

Also why are Kind Mita's chibis dead? Was this Crazy Mita's doing? As a discarded version did Crazy Mita need to steal the chibis too? Would she spawn cute killer chibis instead? That's wasted potential lol. I think she hijacked Kind Mita's chibis and they can no longer be controlled by their own “mother”. (Watching kind Mita give “birth” was so weird lol) BUT. If the chibis are a separate entity why can she turn the player and herself into chibis?

In the basement there's a camera that adds the full Mita avatar into the chibi gameplay from the beginning. It seems to be that the chibi level is not a part of Crazy Mita's domain. But that's a half formed observation…

This game is a love letter to game making. They squeezed so many genres into this one package. The visual novel world was brilliant like a lot of game makers begin with visual novels. Every animation, every prop, the lighting, the level designs… THE MINI GAMES. It's all so lovingly made. (⁠ ⁠；⁠∀⁠；⁠) And it didn't need photorealism! I'm so tired of games prioritizing graphics over actual level design. Even though it's supposed to parody a simple “cozy” game the apartments looked so lived in.

But she lied. Again. And again. And Again. To anyone else, he was a prince among men... But until her, he'd never loved well... She practically put him under a spell... He wished love was something you could stop, She had ruined him, yet he felt like the flop... Despite everything she had done, She would always be the one.

15th March 2023 Day 2

That lack of sleep from the 4:30am cramps meant, I forgoed my want to be there when sir enters. I slept an extra 15 minutes and reached 8minutes before call time. Other than 2 of the boys everyone was already there warming up and I felt a bit shit. That extra 20 minutes early everyone comes, feels like a sign of community, setting up the room, warming up together, I told myself, unless I’m super sleep deprived, I won’t do it anymore.

By the way I haven’t mentioned yet. We are prepping a play to perform end May. we will be rehearsing morning till afternoon 6 days a week till the performance (with 5 days off for Eid,)  which will be 25 performances over 10-12 days! It seems a lot but trust me 2 months is Nothing, especially since we have miles to go. The day was super cloudy and so was Sir’s mood. I can feel the urgency to get the group synced but we are not. Not yet. One of the boys didn’t come, the shadow one, but nothing was said. First half we could sense sir’s frustration today that we all barely know each other and aren’t syncing. Today’s break I actually got. Sat on the roof (you saw my insta story with the transgender lady doing what my sister says is probably a tiktok (egula buzi na.)) I love Shilpakala, at any given time there are people singing, dancing, acting, there’s a jute fair downstairs, multiple events, in the evenings it is soo happening. However in the morning, there is this lovely inner circle calm around the scare people in the building. Only those who are the core team, or building their deep dedications are there at times like 8am. I feel amazing to be part of that. I started my career with western music and later did bangla music, I never really did the Dhaka route, of Shishu Academy, Chayanaot, Shilpokala. I’m the English medium girl who opened for Nemesis in Russian Cultural Centre, and later it was only through my choir Ghaashphoring and when I joined Mita Huqs Suurteertho that I got to do more traditional venues and events. I love it. My perspective of life is different, always has been. It’s not that my family isn’t Bengali enough, if you know them, you know that’s the opposite of true. But it’s that I was always different, I’ve always lived in my own world. A friend of mine, when told that im doing a play about 1971, instantly said, oh isn’t 1971 done to death already? And I felt like, not for me! I’ve never worked with it! I’ve never had that exposure to films/songs/events. Not because they don’t happen, it’s because I”ve never had my own connection to it. And so no, it’s not done to death! There are people like me, of my generation and younger who just know the basics from our class 4 textbooks, we’ve slept through 16 December and 26th March holidays. The English medium schooling system has  always had us not be as Bangali and aspire to be more Western, more “international” and sure that has helped me in some places, but be it Berklee or in my career, it is my connection to my roots that has gotten me places, and I am on a journey in Dhaka for the past 8 years to know all the things I missed. And I know for a fact there are many many like me, some who will never know, and some who are frustrated that they don’t. And yes there are aspects we get stuck on about 1971.. But the women’s side of the war, is the least talked about, least films, books, songs, museums, memorials. On top of that, it could be that this particular artist has not worked on a topic others have, just because others have I don’t feel like we should be limited exploring it. Anyway, Day 2 I still drooped during text reading, (diet coke didnt help, shall i try caffeine?), my left leg was slightly sprained from the fall; but we read M2, now we know all the 3 M stories. We were given some time to think about all 3 Ms and demonstrate some things about how we interpret all 3 M stories. I imagined one to be very forlorn and look out the window and as I did so to channel her, I saw something that I had been hunting for, just on the street of Segunbagicha (I’ll write later as certain peeps read the blog and I don’t want to give it away yet.) Despite the cloudiness of the morning vibes, overall day 2 in class went well, and we were assigned one each to work on for the actual “audition” and character development process.

If you are on my insta, you know I did a long walk through Ramna Park and DCL. Those are things I hope to have in my routine and write about as I explore more. I’m still struggling with time and sleep, this day too I could not get to my homework before it was 11pm, my remainder of the musical admin work is piling up too. I am trying to schedule my life, so I have less work hours outside this play, and still can afford my life. I will make it happen, some plans in the works. (Just need to wrap up some cocacola stuff :P ASAP)

MiSide Mirei (Mireille), full body reference made 🫡

Small hcs + description of who they are (SPOILERS TO MISIDE!!)

A variant of the game MiSide, Mirei takes on the same job as the corrupted/"crazy" Mita but for a completely different reason. Despite being a danger to both players and characters, they take on the antagonist role out of a deal by the developer (or associate, rather) of the world they live in.

Despite being the titular antagonist of MiSide, Mirei doesn't do these things out of passion or for anything that points to being unreasonable. They simply do it out of the sake of survival.

The person they made a deal with is under a different identity (Core "Mirei"), as the protagonist, "██████" and "Vincent" work together to seek out of the game and recover what was lost.

HCs of MiSide Mirei:

Despite being a cannibal, Mirei doesn't feast on players and is found to only do so out of desperation. This is usually when driven to the brink of insanity, or their food stock/supplies do not return due to the game updating to the next version.

Mirei is a gamer and actually enjoys playing games related to horror and visual novels. Their favorites are Where Winter Crows Go and (ironically enough) A Date with Death!

Despite being in a visual novel-esque game like Monika After Story (or Just Natsuki/variants of the other girls), Mirei is not interested in romance. They are only interested in a specific person, and will remain unavailable to anyone else.

Mirei has also consumed dark content and can be found keeping books of such, but they prefer reading psychological books. No Longer Human is one of their favorites.

If in a different game like Alter Ego, Mirei represents Es.

In the canonical timeline, MiSide is one of the universes that a certain amnesiac explores with their companions and is the earliest sightings of who (or what) their actual persona/identity will be.

The bat they carried is used only to knock people out, not to cause any physical harm.

MiSide Mirei cannot be erased as their number is hidden thanks to Core "Mirei". It is only when the matters of the individuals are resolved can Mirei come to terms and co-exist, and with a certain someone in exchange for their services.
