'Truce Train from St Nazaire'

Fallschirmjäger (Paratroopers) of the St.Nazaire garrison await the arrival of an empty train returning from Nantes after it had transported 13,000 French civilian evacuees from St.Nazaire. They would be checking that no unauthorised personnel may have boarded the train, on it's return journey.

The train had left Cordemais station for Nantes after repairs had been made to the railway lines. The refugees arrived in Nantes, leaving behind them the ruined town that had had no coal, gas, electricity or bread, for months.

(Nb. some of these troopers may be carrying the 9mm MP3008,

also known as the Volksmaschinenpistole ("people's machine pistol"), the weapon was closely based on the Sten MKII submachine gun, except for its vertical magazine; some had additional pistol grips.)

"This is one of those stories that tend to make one believe that this is a phoney war.

We arrived at the arranged 'Truce' time to find plenty of 'action' photo shooting etc. going on, leaving just a corridor in "No Mans Land" for the train to go through. We walked through to the Station (Cordemais) which was behind enemy lines. There were various meetings of German, French and American personnel. Scenes of the French Railway men repairing the lines, close ups etc. General view of the whole scene showing German armed guards........

Dimanche 2 avril à Cordemais, Jasper du Bellay a poursuivi sa série positive en arrachant la troisième place dans le final après s’être retrouvé assez loin pendant le parcours. Le chrono très modeste (1′18) laisse quelques regrets mais il faut voir le positif: le cheval prend une belle place sans faire une course dure. VIDEO   

Vendredi 31 à Marseille, Grazia du Bellay a confirmé ses limites du moment en se contentant de la septième place. Après un long arrêt, elle peine à retrouver son meilleur niveau.

Dimanche 2 avril à Nîmes, Icare du Bellay a laissé passer cet engagement en partant au galop.

Lundi 3 à Reims, Haria du Bellay a confirmé qu’elle ne s’entendait pas avec Yoann Lebourgeois. Quasi irrésistible avec Alexandre Abrivard, la jument a été disqualifiée aujourd’hui après s’être fâchée sans raison après 800m de course.

A Vincennes, Jet set du Bellay et Benjamin Rochard s’élanceront avec de vraies ambitions. Objectif podium!

A Lyon, pas moins de 3 Bellay seront au départ. Haltea et Romuald Mourice tenteront de profiter de cet engagement favorable, Jericho et David Bekaert tenteront de se réconcilier, si le poulain est sage ils prétendront à la victoire. Enfin, Icare du Bellay courra un réclamer pour tenter de prendre un peu de sous.

Hélène Martin, qui avait chanté les grands poètes, est morte  Autrice, compositrice, interprète, elle fut l’une des premières à mettre en musique les poèmes d’Aragon, de Genet, Neruda, Queneau… Elle s’est éteinte le 21 février 2021, à l’âge de 92 ans.
