Ride A Cowboy
Pairing: Cordell Walker x amab!Reader
Summary: Y/N got a job working as a ranch hand for Bonham Walker. While tending to the horses, a certain Texas Ranger decides to introduce himself.
Authors Note: Cross posted on AO3
CW: Mentioned age-gap, barn sex, unprotected sex
(Y/N) had gotten a job as a ranch-hand on Bonham Walker's ranch. He was busy brushing out the mane of one of the horses when Bonham’s oldest son walked into the barn.
“You must be the new ranch-hand I’ve been hearing about,” (Y/N) turned around to find the tall man standing behind him with his hand outstretched. “I’m Cordell Walker, Texas Ranger.” He smiled, the corners of his eyes crinkling slightly.
(Y/N) smiled back at him, setting down the brush and extending his own hand to shake Cordell’s, “F/N L/N, nice to meet you.”
“Pleasure is all mine,” He drawled, looking you over from head to toe. “What’s a pretty boy like you doin, working as a ranch-hand?”
(Y/N) blushed at the compliment, “I’ve always liked working with farm animals… I used to help out at my neighbors farm..”
Cordell hummed, smiling slightly. “You know.. you should really be careful with that blush, pretty boy... You’ll get a lot of attention from the girls ‘round here.”
(Y/N) blushed darker, peering up at the ranger through his lashes. “It’s not their attention I want.”
“Oh?” Cordell smirks, his eyes trailing up and down (Y/N)’s body before locking on his eyes. “And just whose attention are you seeking then?”
“Yours.” (Y/N) says, voice barely above a whisper. He steps into Cordell’s space, running his hands up Cordell’s arms and down over his torso, not so subtly feeling his muscles.
Cordell smirked, placing a hand on either side of (Y/N)’s waist. He pulled him flush against him, “Mine, eh? Think you got what it takes to handle an older man?” He says playfully, his voice low. Cordell lowered his head towards him, an eyebrow quirked teasingly.
“That depends…” (Y/N) whispers, tilting his head up to meet his, looking into Cordell’s eyes. “You think you can keep up with a younger guy?”
Cordell growls, his grip on (Y/N)’s waist tightening. “I think I’ll do just fine” he whispers, southern drawl heavy. His face is so close to (Y/N)s that when he speaks (Y/N) can feel his lips ghost over his own. “But please.. feel free to prove me wrong.”
Cordell shifts lower and places his lips against (Y/N)’s neck. He can feel the ranger’s breath hot against his neck as Cordell nips and sucks on the sensitive skin under his jaw. (Y/N) leans up and connects his lips with Cordell’s in a deep kiss. His arms completely encircle (Y/N)’s body, trapping him against him as he groans into the kiss. (Y/N) jumps, wrapping his legs around Cordell’s middle. He reacts quickly, moving to hold him under his thighs. One large hand moves to cup his ass, Cordell’s hardening cock pressed against him. (Y/N) shifts in Cordell’s hold, whining at the sudden friction against his clothed member. His hands travel down and start messing with the buttons of Cordell’s shirt.
“Shirt… Off… Now…” (Y/N) mutters in between kisses. Cordell chuckles against his lips and sits (Y/N) down on a nearby table. He steps back slightly and finishes undoing the buttons of his shirt. (Y/N) runs his hands up and under Cordell’s shirt, pushing the fabric off his shoulders while Cordell runs his hands up (Y/N)’s thighs and under his shirt.
“Yours too,” He whispers, pulling the shirt over his head. He takes in his naked torso, whistling.
“See something you like?” (Y/N) teases, before gasping as Cordell quickly leans down and takes a nipple into his mouth. Cordell places his hand over (Y/N)’s chest, running his thumb over his other nipple. (Y/N)’s hands card through Cordell’s hair as his back arches and he moans. Cordell’s free hand deftly unbuttons (Y/N)’s pants as he releases his nipple from his mouth.
“Lift up for a second,” (Y/N) obliges, lifting himself off the table slightly as Cordell tugs his pants off his legs and tosses them over his shoulder. His eyes darken as he notices the outline of (Y/N)’s erect member. Cordell lightly stroked the clothed member, causing (Y/N)’s hips to jerk.
“Already so hard for me, pretty boy? I haven’t even really started yet and you’re already like this?” Cordell teased. His voice was low and raspy as he spoke. (Y/N) whined as Cordell latched back onto his nipple, his tongue swirling around the hardened bud before his teeth lightly grazed it. At the same time, his hand snuck below the elastic band of (Y/N)’s underwear. He gripped (Y/N) just below his tip, running his thumb over the slit.
“Fuck!” (Y/N) cried out. His hands gripped the hair at the base of Cordell’s neck and clawed at the space between his shoulder blades, leaving angry red lines in their wake. “More… Cordell! Please!”
Cordell gave one last nip to (Y/N)’s nipple. “Tell me, pretty boy… What do ya need?” His thumb worked over (Y/N)’s cock head faster, slightly digging his nail into the slit every now and again making (Y/N)’s voice crack as he cried out.
“I… I need…” (Y/N)s head fell back as he broke off into a moan. “Wanna… oh fuuck… please..”
Cordell placed a kiss against (Y/N)’s exposed neck before whispering into his ear, “shh… pretty boy, come on.. tell me what you need…” His voice was saccharine.
“Wanna…” a stuttered breath, “wanna cum… please,” (Y/N) begged, his hips jerking feverishly into Cordell’s hand.
“Good job, baby…” Cordell praised (Y/N) as he kneeled down in front of him. Using his free hand he removed (Y/N)’s underwear. “If you wanna cum, sweetheart… you can cum.”
(Y/N) moaned, arching his back as Cordell took the tip of his cock into his mouth. He ran his tongue around the tip, pressing it into the slit, and hollowed his cheeks while his hand stroked the rest of his cock. Cordell’s eyes bore into (Y/N)’s as he pulled off, licking him from base to tip before taking him into his mouth again. This time Cordell swallowed him down to the base, bobbing his head while his hand started to massage (Y/N)’s balls.
“Fuuuuck!” (Y/N) groaned, his hips bucking. “Ohmygod… Cordell! Please.. more.. I need more!” He pleaded, “Inside… wanna feel you inside!”
Cordell pulled off of (Y/N)’s cock with an obscene ‘pop’. Placing his middle and ring finger against (Y/N)’s mouth, he husked, “Suck.”
(Y/N) took the fingers into his mouth readily. Running his tongue along them, making sure to coat them in his saliva.
“Good boy,” Cordell purred, his other hand leisurely stroking (Y/N)’s cock.
(Y/N) moaned at the praise, his eyes fluttering shut.
Cordell pulled his fingers out of (Y/N)’s mouth. With another whispered praise, he slowly pushed one past (Y/N)’s rim. Cordell slowly worked his finger in and out, in and out, in and out.
“Cordell~” (Y/N) whined, his hips pushing down against the ranger's finger. “More.. please… I can take it..” he pleaded.
“Alright sweetheart…” Cordell kissed the inside of (Y/N)’s thigh. Adding his second finger slowly. He took (Y/N)’s leaking cock back into his mouth, slowly bobbing his head as he scissored his fingers.
“Ah!” (Y/N) gasped as Cordell brushed against his prostate. “There! Shit!! Right there!” His hands tangled into the ranger's hair.
Cordell pulled off of his cock again, “You’re so close, aren’t you?” He husked, his fingers speeding up inside him, “come on, pretty boy … you can do it..” He kissed up his stomach, his chest, his neck, his jaw, stopping just before his lips. (Y/N) arched into him, struggling to keep his eyes open through the pleasure. He was almost there… he could feel the fire burning low in his stomach, ready to consume him at any moment.
“That’s it sweetheart… let it go.. let that final string snap.” Cordell captured his lips in a feverish kiss, his tongue snaking into (Y/N)’s mouth.
With one more brush of Cordell’s fingers against his prostate, the fire consumed him. His body went taut, toes curling and back arching off the table. His nails dug into Cordell’s forearm, leaving angry red crescents in their wake. His cum littered his chest and stomach. (Y/N) broke off the kiss with a loud moan as Cordells fingers kept working inside him, helping him ride out the orgasm, only stopping when (Y/N) started to become overstimulated.
“Good job, pretty..” Cordel whispers against (Y/N)’s lips. “You did so good..” he gently kissed up the side of his jaw. “Think ya got it in ya for one more?”
(Y/N) nodded his head, eyes still closed. Cordell breathed a small laugh, “Words, sweetheart. I need you to tell me.”
(Y/N) lifted his head and looked at Cordell through half lidded eyes, “I wanna make you feel good, too…”
Cordell tsked, smirking. “That wasn’t my question, baby..”
(Y/N) groaned, his head falling back against the table with a light thud, “Just fuck me already!” He pleaded.
Cordell raised an eyebrow in question, “Whoa there, pretty. You better watch that attitude o’ yours.”
“Or what? You gonna punish me, ranger?” (Y/N) teased, his gaze challenging.
Cordell cocked his head, his jaw clenching, “Somethin’ like that… Get on your knees.” He commanded.
(Y/N) slowly got down from the table, and knelt on the ground. He held Cordell’s gaze, tilting his head up once he was fully situated on the floor of the barn. (Y/N) ran his hands up the clothed expanse of Cordell’s muscular thighs, raking his nails down over the fabric of his pants. He quirked a brow up at the ranger, “Well, I’m down here… what are you gonna do?”
Cordell leaned down, his hand grabbing (Y/N)’s jaw. His grip wasn’t tight, just enough to keep his head steady and looking at him. “Open your mouth.”
(Y/N) opened his mouth, laying his tongue flat against his bottom lip. Cordell placed his thumb against his tongue, “Good job, pretty boy… now, keep your mouth open… just like that,” He whispered, pulling his thumb away.
Cordell slowly undid his belt, the button on his pants, his zipper, and finally pulled the elastic of his underwear. Pushing them down to pool around his ankles.
Cordell stood before him in all his glory. His long, thick, glory. He ran a hand from base to tip slowly. Using his free hand to grip (Y/N)’s jaw. “Now… I’m goin’ to fuck that pretty little mouth o’ yours.” He said, voice low and gravely. “If you need air, hit my thigh three times… otherwise don’t move. Understand?”
“Yessir,” (Y/N) replied as best he could with Cordell’s grip on his jaw.
He smiled, satisfied with his answer. “Good boy… and one more thing… keep your eyes on me.”
Cordell guided his cock into (Y/N)’s mouth. He went slow, gently easing it in until his nose was just about flush with his pelvis. (Y/N) moaned, his eyes fluttering slightly, at the weight of Cordell’s cock on his tongue and the salty taste of his pre-come. Cordell growled at the feeling of (Y/N)’s throat constricting around him and the vibrations from his moan. Cordell held him there for a few moments before pulling out completely.
He combed through (Y/N)’s hair sweetly as he gulped down air. “Alright, sweetheart… take a deep breath… you ready?”
(Y/N) nodded and Cordell grabbed a fistful of his hair to use as leverage and thrust into his mouth. He set a fast pace, pistoning in and out of (Y/N)’s mouth. (Y/N) hummed around him, taking in small breaths through his nose every time Cordell pulled back. Saliva drooled out of the corners of his mouth as (Y/N) concentrated on keeping his jaw relaxed. He makes sure to run his tongue along Cordell’s cock whenever he thrusts back in, preening every time Cordell curses from the feeling.
“Fuckin’ hell..” Cordell groaned above him. “Your throat and mouth are like heaven, sweetheart.”
(Y/N) watched as Cordell’s eyes screwed shut and his head fell back. The grip on his hair tightening. His jaw clenching around a growled moan as he stilled. (Y/N) could feel his cock twitch as Cordell came down his throat. The hands in his hair held him firmly in place halfway down his cock as Cordell’s hips jerked.
With one last breathy groan, Cordell pulled out of his mouth and let go of his hair. Cordell’s hand went back to (Y/N)’s jaw. “Did you swallow?”
(Y/N) nodded. “Show me,” Cordell commanded. (Y/N) opened his mouth, showing that he had swallowed every last drop. Cordell smiled approvingly, “Good boy.”
“If this…” (Y/N) grimaced slightly from the rawness of his voice, “If this is what all your ‘punishments’ are like… I think I should misbehave more..” he teased.
Cordell laughed, “Don’t push your luck, pretty boy…” He motioned with head, “Stand up. Lean over the table.”
(Y/N) got up slowly and turned around. He placed his chest flat against the lacquered wood. Looking over his shoulder at Cordell he wiggled his ass teasingly.
“What now, ranger?”
Cordell hummed in thought, running his large hands over (Y/N)’s ass. Using his thumbs, Cordell gently spread (Y/N)'s ass apart. Pressing a thumb against the ring of muscle almost experimentally.
“I reckon… that you’d be fine with just the little prep I did earlier.” He mused. “Hm?” His eyes met (Y/N)’s, a challenging glint in them.
(Y/N) laughed out in a quick puff of air, “As if you’ll be ready to go so soon - I bet that you’re just buying time.” He challenged back.
Cordell took his cock in one hand, gripping it at the base, and slapped it against (Y/N)’s hole before rubbing against him. Pushing his cock head against (Y/N)’s rim but not enough to penetrate. Cordell slapped (Y/N)’s ass cheek when he pushed back against him.
“What was that, pretty boy?” He questioned. “Somethin’ about me not being ready?”
“S-shut up…” (Y/N) stuttered. A shiver ran through his body as Cordell’s hand connected with the flesh of his ass, whining every time his tip almost pushed past his rim. “Fuck… Cordell if you don’t- Ahh!” He broke off into a moan as Cordell finally pushed past the ring of muscle.
“That’s it…” Cordell praised gently, placing one of his hands flat against the small of his back. Slowly, he pushed further into him. “You’re taking me so good, pretty… Just a little left… god your ass is tight,” Cordell hissed
(Y/N)’s eyes were screwed shut and his mouth hung open in a silent moan as Cordell bottomed out. Cordell stayed there, hips flush against his ass, for a few moments to let (Y/N) adjust.
“Good job, sweetheart…” He praised, “Fuuuck… you’re squeezing me so hard pretty boy..”
“Cordell~” (Y/N) whined, rocking back against Cordell.
“What is it sweet boy… what do you need?” Cordell asked sweetly.
“Please!” (Y/N) pleaded, gasping when Cordell’s cock brushed against his prostate. “Move…”
“Since you asked so nicely…” Cordell drew his hips back until just his tip was inside (Y/N) before quickly thrusting back in, setting a brutal pace. (Y/N) moaned loudly, his body jerking forward with every thrust. His nails scratched at the table-top, trying to find purchase.
“More… need more… pleasepleaseplease!” (Y/N) babbled between gasping moans.
Cordell growled, pulling out completely. Ignoring (Y/N)’s whine of protest, he flipped (Y/N) over. Slotting himself between (Y/N)’s legs, he pushes back in continuing his brutal pace. In this position, Cordell brushed against (Y/N)’s prostate with every harsh thrust causing him to release punched out moans.
(Y/N) locked his legs around Cordell’s middle, trying to pull him closer. He outstretched his arms towards Cordell. “Please,” he said breathlessly.
Cordell leaned down, bracing himself with an arm on either side of (Y/N)’s head. He kisses (Y/N) feverishly, teeth knocking together as their tongues slide together.
The sound of skin slapping against skin, the table knocking against the wall and scraping against the floor echoed in the room. (Y/N)’s legs trembled around Cordell as his back arched off the table. Cordell’s hands were gripping his hips so tightly that there’ll be bruises in their place come morning.
Cordell groaned, thrusting into (Y/N) faster. He snaked an arm between their body’s, fisting over (Y/N)’s cock that was red with arousal. Cordell kissed along his neck and up to his ear, “I can feel you shaking inside… You’re close again… aren’t you, pretty boy..”
“Yes!... Oh fuck, yes! Im close, so fucking close! Cordell, please! I need it! ” (Y/N) babbled out, his hands gripping the hair at the base of Cordell’s neck. He pulled Cordell back down into another passionate kiss.
Growling, Cordell pulled back from the kiss, a string of saliva connecting their lips like a lifeline. He worked his hand faster over (Y/N)’s cock. Using the pad of his thumb Cordell made sure to pay special attention to his cock head, applying light pressure as he rubbed over it. Cordell leaned back, standing straight. He moved one of (Y/N)’s legs up over his shoulder, using it as leverage to piston directly into (Y/N)’s prostate.
(Y/N)’s body arched off the table. His nails clawed at Cordell’s arms and he screamed in pleasure. Panting harshly as his body jerked, confused on whether to push towards the intense pleasure or pull away from it. His eyes rolled back and his eyebrows furrowed.
“Go ahead, sweetheart… You can cum,” Cordell coaxed breathily, between grunts. “Just let go…”
(Y/N)’s body went tense, his mouth falling open in a broken off scream as he came around Cordell, his seed coating his stomach and Cordell’s hand. The ranger groaned as (Y/N)’s walls tightened around him and with a few more jerking thrusts, he released inside him.
(Y/N) relaxed against Cordell as the after waves of pleasure worked their way through his body, twitching slightly as Cordell pulled his softening cock out of his sensitive hole. Cordell gently cleaned him off with a spare blanket before wiping himself off.
Hastily pulling his pants on, Cordell wrapped his shirt around (Y/N)s shoulders before grabbing the rest of their discarded clothes.
“Hey, pretty boy… let’s move ya somewhere more comfortable.. That sound good?” Cordell asked, stroking a loose piece of hair out of (Y/N)’s face as he nodded tiredly. Scooping (Y/N) into his arms, Cordell walked out of the barn and walked them to his room. Laying (Y/N) on the bed, he tucked the blankets around him before getting in on the other side.
(Y/N) curled into his side as Cordell wrapped an arm around him, tracing random shapes along his back. “Was that alright? Wasn’t too much?” He asked.
“It was perfect…” (Y/N) replied sleepily, “I think we should role-play more often…” He nuzzled into Cordell’s chest, laying an arm across his middle.
Cordell chuckled, “Yeah? Maybe next time you can dress up as a nurse," He teased, laughing when he received a weak slap to his chest.
“In your dreams Walker..”

‘Walker’s Jared Padalecki Shares a Look at What’s to Come in Season 4
Collider: You’re four seasons into this TV series now, which isn’t the 15 seasons that Supernatural was on the air, but it’s a very respectable amount of time.
JARED PADALECKI: Thank you so much. Hopefully, we’ll have 40 more. But Season 4 is certainly bizarre and amazing and incredible, and I’m grateful and flattered and love the journey these characters have gone through.
What are you loving about Season 4 and about the Cordell Walker of Season 4? What are you most enjoying about this point of the journey?
PADALECKI: With Supernatural, we would flip between maybe the big bad guy and then the problems at home or with the brothers. But in the case of Walker, we will go from big bad guy to family stuff to bad guy of the week to family stuff. Just like life is, it gets big sometimes and it gets small sometimes, but there’s always some issue. And so, what I love about Season 4 is having a serial killer out there that is from our past and that haunted us back then and is sure to haunt us again this season, as The Jackal does, and also, there’s so much drama at home. Cordell has a daughter who’s a freshman in college and a son who’s a senior in high school. Mom and dad are trying to figure out what to do. His brother is trying to figure out what to do. It’s just that feeling that we all get, as humans and as adults, where it feels like, “Can’t just one part of my life calm down?” And sure as hell, it never does.
It feels like this show was originally brought back to television because there was a real hole in this type of programming at that time, and I’m glad the series is still on because it still feels like it’s really needed in that space.
PADALECKI: Agreed. What’s funny is that I grew up in Texas. I grew up in San Antonio. I’ve lived in Austin for 15 years. I grew up watching Walker, Texas Ranger with Sir Chuck Norris, himself, so that was a part of my childhood. For those who’ve seen the original and seen ours, this is obviously a very different show. I’m certainly a fan of action movies and action shows and action books and action stories, but I found myself, after 15 years on Supernatural, which was very much based in family as well, wanting something that anybody of any age could watch. I wanted something that wasn’t just about cutting off vampires’ heads, or killing God or the devil and everything in between, but was more like, “How can we make this as realistic as possible to what’s going on right now, and what has gone on in the past, and what is sure to go on in the future?” The commentary is oftentimes about how people have seen the original and love the re-imagining that we Walker put together. But more often than not, I love that I’ve had parents come up to me and talk about how Walker, though the situation is different because he’s a widower, is going through life and trying to figure out his kids while they’re changing, and he has to go to work because he has a job. There’s something universal about that struggle and that experience that seems to have really communicated and landed with people, no matter what their job is and what their family situation is.
Is it challenging to make this series with a shortened episode count, or does it feel like you can really just pack more into every episode?
PADALECKI: I get both. There’s a quote I heard one time about actors and writers and directors and producers and whatnot, and they used it in the form of an actor. They said, “If you give an actor three years to prepare, it’ll take three years. If you give him three months to prepare, it’ll take three months. If you give him three days, it’ll take three days. If you give him three minutes, it’ll take three minutes.” It’s one of those things where life imitates art. We’ve found such wonderful stuff, and kudos to our great writing team for making it possible, but it feels very like life. It feels very much like Cordell’s life would be. You find out sooner than you would’ve hoped, “Hey, this is coming up,” or “You’ve gotta do this or that.” While it’s certainly been different, if you could give me 30 days to do an episode, it’ll have its challenges. If you give me one day to do an episode, it’ll have its challenges. I think that goes from top to bottom, cast and crew alike. We’ve had a great time. Because of cross-boarding some episodes, we might be doing episodes one and two, and even if a character is only in episode two, since we will shoot two together, I still get to catch up with that human being during the filming, which is wonderful.
You’re kicking off this season with a lot of storylines happening for these characters. He’s stepped up his romance, his daughter is not coping well with things, and there’s a serial killer. I love that there’s really this balance where you have the romance and there are some good things on the horizon for the family, but then there’s also the dark and deadly aspect of a serial killer. What sort of balance will we see this season between the light and the dark? Will we get to a point where things get more dark and more intense, as things play out with The Jackal?
PADALECKI: You certainly will. Given what happened with the strikes, over the last 12 months, it didn’t make sense to do a direct pickup after Season 3. So much time has passed between the end of Season 3 and when Season 4 will air that it just didn’t make a lot of sense for our viewers and our lovely and wonderful loyal watchers. Kale [Culley] just turned 18 in May, and he’s almost my size now. If we picked up Season 4, episode one, directly after Season 3, the final episode, it wouldn’t make sense. You’d be like, “Oh, I guess August grew four inches overnight.” Our writers were very aware of that and tried to make every bit of that as real and human as possible. We certainly do see, as characters and as viewers, how this Jackal that haunted Captain James and Ranger Walker back in the day, five years ago, still has a stranglehold on them, and just how deep and dark they go while trying to keep all the other plates spinning in the other aspects of their lives.
It’s certainly never great to keep secrets from people you care about, especially when they’re big secrets. And on a TV series, those secrets are bound to come out, and likely at the worst possible time.
PADALECKI: Yep, that’s what our sadistic writers try to do. Teasing, teasing, teasing. No, they do it in such a wonderful way. Going back to before even the pilot, one of the things that Anna Fricke and I talked about before we’d even staffed the room and cast the characters and hired the crew was that we want this to be as real as possible. Although in a different arena, with Walker being a Texas Ranger and a widow, we want this to have universal problems and issues that every person goes through on different scales as they navigate this life.
Jensen Ackles directed an episode of the series. Do you think he’ll do that again?
PADALECKI: I sure hope so. Now and always, I will work with Jensen, wherever, whenever. He’s obviously a busy man. He’s got a wife and three kids of his own. He’s here, there, and everywhere. He’s been in Toronto, he’s been in Vancouver, and he’s been in New Mexico. He’s a very busy guy. He and I see each other a lot, obviously, with Supernatural conventions, and we text often. He certainly is up for it. It’s just like life and like Cordell Walker, trying to figure out when things will work out.
Do you see yourself directing an episode?
PADALECKI: Not to speak for Jensen, but to try to speak for Jensen, directing is something that he was always really passionate about, and producing is something that I was always really passionate about. I have a deep respect for directors, and the door is not closed. If the opportunity arises and I think, “Man, I really wanna direct,” then I will. But over 24 years in the industry, I’ve worked with so many talented directors who deserve the episode more than I do. Obviously, as the executive producer and the guy in the poster, I could probably make a phone call and say, “Hey, I want an episode,” and they might say, “Okay, you get one.” That’s not what Jensen did.
From day one, he was like, “Hey, I wanna direct some day.” That’s not where I was. And so, I don’t wanna take an episode away from a really deserving, talented director. I really love my job as an actor and as a storyteller, and as an executive producer, I help guide the storyline and help in the casting and help with the editing. So, I’m a pretty happy cat right now, where I stand. I love that puzzle. The director puts the puzzle pieces together. I like getting the puzzle pieces and figuring out how they can work even better. I think a lot of artists go, “Hey, I wanna guide this.” For me, I love the puzzle of acting and scene breakdown and story breakdown, and just trying to figure out how to make what’s already great on the page and great on the set, even better if I can.
You and Jensen Ackles have both talked about having interest in a possible revival of Supernatural. Is that something you’ve seriously considered doing? Have you had any real conversations about that, or are you just having conversations about having conversations?
PADALECKI: It’s not that I have seriously considered doing it, my single answer is yes. It’s timing. It’s availability. Jensen and I feel so strongly about our show that we had for 15 years together that we don’t wanna just do it just to do it. We don’t wanna go, “Hey, I have two weeks off in June. Let’s go ahead and shoot 10 pages a day, just so we can have some more content.” If and when Supernatural comes back, it’s going to be a labor of love, and we’re gonna put every hour in to make sure that it’s as true to the cannon and to the fandom and to the story and to the characters as possible. So, my short answer is it’s not a consideration, the answer is yes. I just don’t know when I’m available. I don’t know when he’s available. But again, my answer is yes.
Have you thought about all the different possibilities of what it could be, as far as whether you’d do a shortened season, whether you’d want to do a movie, or if none of it works, whether you’d do an animated series?
PADALECKI: Yeah. Honest to God, I don’t think about the medium in which it would air. I think about the story that I care about. If Jensen and I talk about where we would like to see Sam and Dean appear on screens again, and we think, “Cool, we like this, and we like this arc, and we like this conclusion,” then let’s do it. If they make it into a movie, great. If they make it into a limited series, great. If they make it into a flip book that’s available on Amazon, great. But at this point in time, I feel so protective of Supernatural that if the story’s fine, then I don’t care how it gets into the world.
Eric Kripke has also always made it known that he’d love to have you on The Boys anytime you were available. Would you like to make an appearance over there? Have you actually spoken to him about that? Would you even want to be in that world?
PADALECKI: Yeah, he has reached out to me and my response to him 90% of the time is, “Dude, I’m 41 now with three kids. I’m not 25 and working out three hours a day. I know you’re going to fucking make me get naked, so give me a heads up. I’m in, but let me get a nutritionist and a trainer and get in the hyperbaric chamber for eight months before you make me show up.” But yeah, it would obviously be a lot of fun to see Kripke again and to work on that show, which is a great show that I’m a fan of.
It certainly seems like a little wild break of fun.
PADALECKI: A little wild? Have you seen the show?!
Yes, and I love it very much. But I also have a sick sense of humor.
PADALECKI: I do, too. I love watching it, but imagine putting yourself in it. I’ve got kids. My mom and dad are still alive. I’ve got grandparents that are alive. I don’t know how to just unplug their electricity when the show airs.

you are stuck on island, which of the two characters played by Jared are you going to pick?
hi stranded noni!
Interesting ask.. well.. it depends on what the island is like and what's my situation you know??
Am I stranded on Lian Yu (Arrowverse)? Defo Sam Winchester and Cordell Walker as both have experience in situations where survival is the priority. Sam and Cordell both have the whole military upbringing and plus Sam will forage for salad while Cordi goes and hunts a deer or something..
Am I wrecked on that cannibalistic island from POTC? Sam Winchester and maybe Clay Miller. Sam, again for obvious reasons but hey, Clay literally survived Jason Voorhees without any training. Plus I love his hair! I feel safe putting my life in his hands. And I think he will get along with Sam too.
Am I washed up on Madagascar? Sam Winchester and Dean Forester because hello! Have you imagined making love (**cough** fuck **cough**) to Sam under the stars? Because I have and it sounds dreamy and nasty all at once. Oh and Dean Forester would be a sweetheart to just build a nice cosy place all with his two hands maybe make a nice coconut margarita?
Clearly I'm not leaving without Sam Winchester so that's pretty obvious 😁
Really fun ask! Keep em coming if there's more from that came! 😍

Interesting coincidences
Both Big Sky (Season 3) and the reboot series, Walker, have a character who is a charming good ol' boy from Texas (scruff and all), who happens to be in law enforcement:
And a Hoyt: Girl Hoyt Boy Hoyt
So each time Dean Beau mentions his (yet to be seen) brother, I can't help but imagine how perfect it would be if a Sam Cordell-ish character popped up in an episode somewhere as the above-mentioned (sounds-like-trouble) brother?
Right?!

@roni.robbins1 In Fredericksburg this afternoon with Jared Padalecki, who played Dean Forester on the Gilmore Girls. He currently plays Cordell Walker on the TV series "Walker," a re-imagining of the long-running series "Walker, Texas Ranger." Great guy. Lucky me.
So excited for that fan! But also... he cut his hair??? And I'm just three weeks away from meeting him.
Also, love the replies! From Gilmore Girls to Walker! Our boy is loved!

Gailard Sartain in the pilot of Walker, Texas Ranger, 1993.
This was the first time I ever watched this show. The 3 main characters are Texas Ranger, Cordell Walker (action movie star Chuck Norris, Texas Ranger, former pro football player, James Trivette (Clarence Gilyard Jr) transferred in to replace a fallen Ranger and retired Ranger CD Parker (Gailard Sartain). I started watching only because of Gailard, thinking it would be a routine cop action series.
CD is a bored retired Ranger who is answering Advice Column letters from the lovelorn for the local newspaper as "Trail Buddy" to help pass his time. I think this job was going to lead him to errantly guess the identity of a letter writer who is a secret admirer of his to be Trivette in a subsequent show creating some very awkward situations.
On their way to meet the new Ranger, CD tells Walker the history of the new Ranger, Trivette and how great he is.
They meet Trivette at a pool where high diving is practiced. Trivette is dressed only in his speedo and drinking a nutrition, energy drink and Walker, being the macho, homophobic type makes a snide comment to CD.
AS Walker and Trivette talk, CD looks at Trivette with his tongue pushing out his mouth, like he sees something he likes.
The three of them walk a ways with CD in the rear averting his eyes from what I can only imagine from Trivette's butt.
Walker and Trivette leave CD and CD takes this chance to take another look at Trivette's butt. Then looks back in the other direction sheepishly, in case someone was watching him.
This would be end of Gailard Sartain playing CD Parker. The Producers replaced him with Noble Willingham. They said it was because Gailard was too young for the role and younger than Norris. He was 47. Norris was 53 and Willingham was 62. But they knew this when they first cast it and explained it by CD being retired because his knee was seriously injured on the job. Gailard said he would have been happy to stay for the whole series.
I think the real reason is that the Producers wanted to be edgier than their audience could handle. They probably found out in preview screenings that the audience couldn't handle man for man love, even unrequited. They still wanted it. It made the show stand out. They ran the show over 2 weeks to get the general audience reaction. They ran only one more show for season one that didn't include CD Parker. The result was the same as the screenings and they had to replace Gailard with the older actor and scrab the edgy sub-plot.
I think Gailard's character was very interesting and I think his performance was spot on as a guy who is in lust with another guy. I'm sure throughout Gailard's life he has had guys who reacted to him this way. I know I would have been one of those.

Ride A Cowboy
Pairing: Cordell Walker x afab!Reader
Summary: Y/N has just gotten a job working as a ranch hand for Bonham Walker. While tending to the horses, a certain Texas Ranger introduces himself.
Authors Note: This was cross posted on AO3
CW: Mentioned age-gap, barn sex, unprotected sex
(Y/N) had gotten a job as a ranch-hand on Bonham Walker's ranch. She was busy brushing out the mane of one of the horses when Bonham’s oldest son walked into the barn.
“You must be the new ranch-hand I’ve been hearing about,” (Y/N) turned around to find him standing behind her with his hand outstretched. “I’m Cordell Walker, Texas Ranger.” He smiled, the corners of his eyes crinkling slightly.
(Y/N) smiled back at him, setting down the brush and extending her own hand to shake his, “F/N L/N, nice to meet you.”
“Pleasure is all mine,” He drawled, looking you over from head to toe. “What’s a pretty girl like you doin, working as a ranch-hand?”
(Y/N) blushed at the compliment, “I’ve always liked working with farm animals… I used to help out at my neighbors farm..”
Cordell hummed, smiling slightly. “You know.. you should really be careful with that blush, pretty girl. You’ll get a lot of attention from the boys ‘round here.”
(Y/N) blushed darker, peering up at the ranger through her lashes. “It’s not their attention I want.”
“Oh?” Cordell smirks, his eyes trailing up and down her body before locking on her eyes. “And just whose attention are you seeking then?”
“Yours.” (Y/N) says, voice barely above a whisper. She steps into Cordell’s space, running her hands up his arms and down over his torso, not so subtly feeling his muscles.
Cordell smirked, placing a hand on either side of (Y/N)’s waist. He pulled her flush against him, “Mine, eh? Think you got what it takes to handle an older man?” He says playfully, his voice low. Cordell lowered his head towards her, an eyebrow quirked teasingly.
“That depends…” (Y/N) whispers, tilting her head up to meet his, looking into his eyes. “You think you can keep up with a younger gal?”
Cordell growls, his grip on (Y/N)’s waist tightening. “I think I’ll do just fine,” he whispers, southern drawl heavy. His face is so close to (Y/N)s that when he speaks she can feel his lips ghost over hers. “But please.. feel free to prove me wrong.”
Cordell shifts lower and places his lips against (Y/N)’s neck. She can feel his breath hot against her flesh as Cordell nips and sucks on the sensitive skin under her jaw. (Y/N) leans up and connects her lips with Cordell’s in a deep kiss. His arms completely encircle (Y/N)’s body, trapping her against him as he groans into the kiss. She jumps, wrapping her legs around Cordell’s middle. He reacts quickly, moving to hold her under her thighs. One large hand moves to cup her ass. (Y/N) shifts in Cordell’s hold, she can feel his hardened cock as it brushes against her. Her hands travel down and start messing with the buttons of his shirt.
“Shirt… Off… Now…” (Y/N) mutters in between kisses. Cordell chuckles against her lips and sits (Y/N) down on a nearby table. He steps back slightly and finishes undoing the buttons of his shirt. (Y/N) runs her hands up and under his shirt, pushing the fabric off his shoulders while Cordell runs his hands up her thighs and under (Y/N)’s shirt.
“Yours too,” He whispers, pulling her shirt over her head. He takes in her naked torso, whistling. “No bra?”
“They're uncomfortable,” (Y/N) shrugs, before gasping as Cordell quickly leans down and takes one of her nipples into his mouth. His hand comes up to knead the soft flesh of her other breast, running his thumb over her nipple. (Y/N)’s hands card through Cordell’s hair as her back arches and she moans. His free hand deftly unbuttons her pants as he releases her nipple from his mouth.
“Lift up for a second,” (Y/N) obliges, lifting herself off the table slightly as Cordell tugs her pants off her legs and tosses them behind his shoulder. His eyes darken as he notices the wet spot on (Y/N)’s underwear. He ran a finger through the middle of her clothed pussy, smirking as she shivered from the sensation.
“Already drippin’ for me, pretty girl? I haven’t even really started yet and you’re already like this?” Cordell teased. His voice was low and raspy as he spoke. (Y/N) whined as Cordell latched back onto her nipple, his tongue swirling around the hardened bud before his teeth lightly grazed it. At the same time, his hand snuck below the elastic band of (Y/N)’s underwear. His fingers circled her sensitive clit, mirroring the way his tongue worked on her breast.
“Fuck!” (Y/N) cried out. Her hands gripped the hair at the base of his neck and clawed at the space between his shoulder blades, leaving angry red lines in their wake. “More… Cordell! Please!”
Cordell gave one last nip to (Y/N)’s nipple. “Tell me, pretty girl… What do ya need?” His fingers worked over her clit faster, adding a subtle pressure making (Y/N)’s voice crack as she cried out.
“I… I need…” (Y/N)s head fell back as she broke off into a moan. “Wanna… oh fuuck… please..”
Cordell placed a kiss against (Y/N)’s exposed neck before whispering into her ear, “shh… pretty girl, come on.. tell me what you need…” His voice was saccharine.
“Wanna…” a stuttered breath, “wanna cum… please,” (Y/N) begged, her hips rocking feverishly against Cordell’s hand.
“Good job, baby…” Cordell praised (Y/N) as he kneeled down in front of her. Using his free hand he removed her underwear. “If you wanna cum, sweetheart… you can cum.”
(Y/N) let out a long moan as Cordell licked through her folds. His lips latched around her clit as he sucked and flicked the sensitive bundle of nerves with his tongue. He had stuck two fingers in her and was crooking them just right to make her walls tighten around them. (Y/N)’s arms gave out from where they were supporting her and she collapsed back against the table. Her mouth hung open in a soundless moan as Cordell quickly thrusted his fingers in and out, in and out, in and out. Before switching to crooking them in a ‘come here’ motion that hit her sweet spot every time. (Y/N) writhed on the table, her hands buried in Cordell’s hair. Her trembling legs clamped around his head as she breathlessly moaned. Cordell looked up at her, removing his mouth from her clit.
“You’re so close, aren’t you?” He husked, his fingers speeding up inside her, “come on, pretty girl… you can do it..” He kissed up her stomach, her chest, her neck, her jaw, stopping just before her lips. (Y/N) arched into him, struggling to keep her eyes open through the pleasure. She was almost there… she could feel the fire burning low in her stomach, ready to consume her at any moment.
“That’s it sweetheart… let it go.. let that final string snap.” Cordell captured her lips in a feverish kiss, his tongue snaking into her mouth. She could taste herself on him.
With one more crook of his fingers, the fire consumed her. Her body went taut, toes curling and back arching off the table. Her nails dug into Cordell’s forearm, leaving angry red crescents in their wake. (Y/N) broke off the kiss with a loud moan as his fingers kept working inside her, helping her ride out the orgasm.
“Good job, pretty..” Cordel whispers against (Y/N)’s lips. “You did so good..” he gently kissed up the side of her jaw. “Think ya got it in ya for one more?”
(Y/N) nodded her head, eyes still closed. Cordell breathed a small laugh, “Words, sweetheart. I need you to tell me.”
(Y/N) lifted her head and looked at Cordell through half lidded eyes, “I wanna make you feel good, too…”
Cordell tsked, smirking. “That wasn’t my question, baby..”
(Y/N) groaned, her head falling back against the table with a light thud, “Just fuck me already!” She pleaded.
Cordell raised an eyebrow in question, “whoa there, pretty. You better watch that attitude o’ yours.”
“Or what? You gonna punish me, ranger?” (Y/N) teased, her gaze challenging.
Cordell cocked his head, his jaw clenching, “Somethin’ like that… Get on your knees.” He commanded.
(Y/N) slowly got down from the table, and knelt on the ground. She held Cordell’s gaze, tilting her head up once she was fully situated on the floor of the barn. (Y/N) ran her hands up the clothed expanse of his muscular thighs, raking her nails down over the fabric of his pants. She quirked a brow up at him, “Well, I’m down here… what are you gonna do?”
Cordell leaned down, his hand grabbing her jaw. His grip wasn’t tight, just enough to keep your head steady and looking at him. “Open your mouth.”
(Y/N) opened her mouth, laying her tongue flat against her bottom lip. Cordell placed his thumb against her tongue, “Good job, pretty girl… now suck.” He whispered, empathizing the ‘k’ sound.
His eyes were dark as he watched (Y/N) slowly close her mouth around his thumb. Her eyes bore into his as she hollowed her cheeks and rolled her tongue around the digit. She moaned exaggeratedly as her eyes closed. She heard the familiar clink of a belt being undone before Cordell pulled his thumb from her mouth and gripped her jaw tighter, forcing her mouth back open.
Cordell stood before her in all his glory. His long, thick, glory. He ran his free hand from base to tip slowly. “Now… I’m goin’ to fuck that pretty little mouth o’ yours.” He said, voice low and gravely. “If you need air, hit my thigh three times… otherwise don’t move. Understand?”
“Yessir,” (Y/N) replied as best she could with Cordell grip on her jaw.
He smiled, satisfied with her answer. “Good girl… and one more thing… keep your eyes on me.”
Cordell guided his cock into her mouth. He went slow, gently easing it in until her nose was just about flush with his pelvis. (Y/N) moaned, her eyes fluttering slightly, at the weight of his cock on her tongue and the salty taste of his pre-come. Cordell growled at the feeling of (Y/N)’s throat constricting around him and the vibrations from her moan. He held her there for a few moments before pulling out completely.
He combed through (Y/N)’s hair sweetly as she gulped down air. “Alright, sweetheart… take a deep breath… you ready?”
(Y/N) nodded and Cordell grabbed a fistful of her hair to use as leverage and thrust into her mouth. He set a fast pace, pistoning in and out of her mouth. (Y/N) hummed around him, taking in small breaths through her nose every time Cordell pulled back. Saliva drooled out of the corners of her mouth as (Y/N) concentrated on keeping her jaw relaxed. She makes sure to run her tongue along his cock whenever he thrust back in, preening every time Cordell curses from the feeling.
“Fuckin’ hell..” Cordell groaned above her. “Your throat and mouth are like heaven, sweetheart.”
(Y/N) watched as Cordell’s eyes screwed shut and his head fell back. The grip on her hair tightening. His jaw clenching around a growled moan as he stilled. She could feel his cock twitch as he came down her throat. His hands in her hair held her firmly in place halfway down his cock as Cordell’s hips jerked.
With one last breathy groan, he pulled out of her mouth and let go of her hair. His hand went back to (Y/N)’s jaw. “Did you swallow?”
(Y/N) nodded. “Show me,” Cordell commanded. (Y/N) opened her mouth, showing that she had swallowed every last drop. Cordell smiled approvingly, “Good girl.”
“If this…” (Y/N) grimaced slightly from the rawness of her voice, “if this is what all your ‘punishments’ are like… I think I should misbehave more..” she teased.
Cordell laughed, “Don’t push your luck, pretty girl…” He motioned with head, “Stand up. Lean over the table.”
(Y/N) got up slowly and turned around. She placed her chest flat against the lacquered wood. Looking over her shoulder at Cordell she wiggled her ass teasingly.
“What now, ranger?”
Cordell hummed in thought, running his large hands over her ass. Using his thumbs, Cordell gently spread (Y/N)'s pussy open, slipping a thumb in almost experimentally.
“I reckon… that you’d be fine with just the little prep I did earlier.” He mused. “Hm?” His eyes met (Y/N)’s, a challenging glint in them.
(Y/N) laughed out in a quick puff of air, “As if you’ll be ready to go so soon - I bet that you’re just buying time.” She challenged back.
Cordell took his cock in one hand, gripping it at the base, and slapped it against her pussy before rubbing against her. Easily slipping between her dripping folds. The tip catching on (Y/N)’s entrance before sliding past. Slowly and deliberately, he grinded against her.
“What was that, pretty girl?” He questioned. “Somethin’ about me not being ready?”
“S-shut up…” (Y/N) stuttered. A shiver ran through her body as she ground back against Cordell, whining every time his tip rubbed against her clit. “Fuck… Cordell if you don’t- Ahh!” She broke off into a moan as Cordell finally pushed the tip of his cock into her.
“That’s it…” Cordell praised gently, placing one of his hands flat against the small of her back. Slowly, he pushed further into her. “You’re taking me so good, pretty… Just a little left.”
(Y/N)’s eyes were screwed shut and her mouth hung open in a silent moan as Cordell bottomed out. He stayed there, hips flush against her ass, for a few moments to let (Y/N) adjust.
“Good job, sweetheart…” He praised, “God! You’re so fuckin’ tight!”
Cordell drew his hips back until just his tip was inside her before quickly thrusting back in, setting a brutal pace. (Y/N) moaned loudly, her body jerking forward with every thrust. Her nails scratched at the table-top, trying to find purchase. The sound of skin slapping against skin drowned out the sound of the table knocking against the wall and scraping against the floor. (Y/N)’s legs shook as she tried to push back and meet Cordell’s thrusts. His hands gripping her hips so tightly that there’ll probably be bruises there in the morning.
Cordell groaned, thrusting into (Y/N) faster. He leaned down, snaking an arm between (Y/N) and the table and pulling her back flush to his chest. Kissing along her neck and up to her ear he panted, “I can feel you shaking inside… You’re close again… aren’t you, pretty girl..”
“Yes!... Oh fuck, yes! Im close, so fucking close! Cordell, please! I need it! ” (Y/N) babbled out, an arm reaching up to grip the back of Cordell’s neck, pulling him into a hungry kiss. Her tongue sliding against his as she moaned wantonly.
Growling, Cordell pulled back from the kiss, a string of saliva connecting their lips like a lifeline. He snaked a hand down to her clit. Using the pad of his middle finger, Cordell rubbed against the bundle of nerves, applying light pressure. His other hand cupped one of her breasts. He rolled her nipple in between his fingers, tugging lightly.
(Y/N)’s head fell back, resting against his shoulder. Her body shook in his arms, back arching and hips bucking back against Cordell’s cock. Her breath coming out in short, punched out moans every time Cordell bottomed out. Her grip in his hair tightening and untightening repeatedly.
“Go ahead, sweetheart… You can cum,” Cordell coaxed gently. “Just let go…”
(Y/N)’s body went tense, her mouth falling open in a broken off scream as she came around him. Cordell groaned as (Y/N)’s walls tightened around him and with a few more jerking thrusts, he released inside her.
(Y/N) relaxed against Cordell as the after waves of pleasure worked their way through her body, twitching slightly as Cordell pulled his softening cock out of her. Cordell gently laid (Y/N) on the table before grabbing a spare blanket and quickly wiping them both off. Hastily pulling his pants on, Cordell wrapped his shirt around (Y/N)s shoulders before grabbing the rest of the discarded clothes.
“Hey, pretty girl… let’s move ya somewhere more comfortable.. That sound good?” Cordell asked, stroking a loose piece of hair out of (Y/N)’s face as she nodded tiredly. Scooping (Y/N) into his arms, Cordell left the barn and carried her to his room. Laying her on the bed, he tucked the blankets around her before getting in on the other side.
(Y/N) curled into his side as Cordell wrapped an arm around her, tracing random shapes along her back. “Was that alright?” He asked.
“More than…” (Y/N) replied sleepily, “I think we should role-play more often…”
Cordell chuckled, “Yeah? Maybe next time you can dress up as a nurse," he teased.
“In your dreams Walker..”

----------
August had thought about the day he came home from the military for good a lot. He’d imagined himself leaving after a few years and transitioning into a more sedate lifestyle, maybe with Sadie by his side. He’d imagined himself going full career military and passing on a legacy of government benefits when he eventually bit the bullet. He’d imagined himself getting a hero’s funeral, remembered in pictures and funny stories until no one was around to tell them anymore.
In all his imaginings and daydreams, he’d never pictured this.
“Your recovery is coming along very well,” his assigned physical therapist told him. “Have you given any more thought to if you would prefer a prosthetic or crutches?”
“Crutches.” He’d made his choice soon after the amputation surgery. He’d seen the options and recovery schedule for a prosthetic. It was pricey, cumbersome, and something that would probably only lead to confusion and disappointment when he was wearing long pants. Crutches were cheaper and a lot more upfront about his baggage.
Crutches also meant he’d be going home sooner, but you can’t always get everything you want.
“Are you sure? We can-”
“I’m sure."
She blinked at him and nodded. “Alright. You’ll have to learn how to use them before we can release you. I’d also like to talk to your family about accommodations you might need at home. Is there a number I could call or….?”
August sighed. “My sister will be here in two hours. You can talk to her about all that.”
“Okay, we’ll do that then. Let’s just finish up your exercises and then I’ll come back to talk with your sister. Is there anything else you want to talk about?”
“No. Let’s just get this over with.”
August could do the whole exercise routine by himself at this point, but it was definitely easier with someone else helping him. Having someone to help him balance made it easier for him to keep his eyes away from the scar he was left with. The phantom pains were bad enough; the ugly stump was just another unfortunate reminder.
He really just wanted to get his crutches and get back to moving on his own again, but he knew that would be a journey. A journey he wasn’t really looking forward to.
Especially not a journey he wanted to go on with his family.
He was glad Stella had taken the mantle of dealing with all his hospital stuff. He wasn’t sure he’d be able to handle it if the rest of the family was constantly hovering around him during this. He didn’t need their sugarcoated praise or unnecessary optimism. He didn’t need Gramp’s war stories or Dad’s constant assurances that this wouldn’t change anything. He didn’t need Mawline’s smothering or Liam’s assembly line of therapists to “heal his mental state”.
He just wanted to get on with the rest of his pathetic life.
—------------------
The road had been cleared before they went on it. Or, at least, they thought it was. Not that it was August’s job to worry about that. It was their Sergeant's job, or at least the drivers. He just got on the truck he was told to get on and zoned out during the drive to prevent himself from thinking too hard about their mission. He much preferred scouting to sniping, but he didn’t get to make those decisions.
He hated trips like this, but it’s what he signed up for. Literally.
Maybe he should’ve listened a little closer to his grandfather’s war stories before he committed to this. A little late to complain about it now, so he didn’t. Not to his fellow soldiers, not in his letters home, not even when he was drunk on leave. Bottling things up was the Walker Way and after a few years at it, August was a professional.
The explosion came from right under his seat. There was another one as the driver tried to regain control of the vehicle.
And then the ambush came.
August didn’t remember much after the first gunshot. He just remembered the smell of blood and the sound of someone screaming.
Later, his sergeant would commend him for his “bravery in the face of adversity”. If August hadn’t just heard that the infections in his leg wounds were too severe for the field hospital to handle and amputation was the best route, he probably would’ve punched the man.
August got a medal for his bravery. He got to shake the governor’s hand and his face was plastered on the front page of The Austin Chronicle and The Daily Texan.
The other 19 men in the truck with him died. They got no awards and their families got meager compensation. He spoke with one of the wives, tried to tell her he was sorry. She just smiled and patted his remaining leg and told him to say “hi” to his mother for her.
The more he practiced “walking”, the closer he got to going home, the more he dreaded it. He didn't want the welcome home party or the accolades of a “successful” military career. He just wanted to move on, forget how he ended up here.
But that would never happen. He could never be that lucky.
—-------------------
“So I did tell them you didn’t want a big party but-”
August groaned. “Just tell me how many people are going to be there.”
Stella sighed. “I managed to talk them down to Dad’s work friends. And nobody got plus ones. Oh, and Sadie will be there.”
Sadie. He hadn’t seen her since last Christmas. Knowing the first time she would see him again was like this made his stomach twist into knots.
Last time he’d seen her, they kissed under the mistletoe. It had gotten them laughs, but it made him want more.
One more tour, he’d told himself back then. Just one more and then he’d be good enough. His family would be proud of him, he could get great benefits on top of whatever job he picked up, and maybe he could finally ask her on a date. She might even say “yes”.
Fat chance of that happening now.
“I already told everyone you’ll probably be tired and you don’t need to be overwhelmed right now so the extra guests probably won’t stay for more than an hour. If you need me to, I can be the bad guy and kick everyone out early,” Stella promised.
“Thanks,” he muttered. “But I can deal. If I let them get all their hovering out of the way now, maybe they’ll chill for a bit.”
Stella snorted. “Yeah, right. Dad’s been excited to show you all the renovations they made for you and Liam really wants your opinions on his new ‘inclusive’ therapy plans for the rescue. And I’ve lost track of how many times Mawline’s asked me if I was absolutely sure you don’t have any new dietary restrictions.”
August groaned and slid down in his seat. “And they wonder why I wanted to stay at the hospital by myself….”
“You know it’s because they care about you. I know it’s clumsy and overbearing but they’re trying.”
“I know that but…. I just wish they wouldn’t make a big dal out of it.”
Stella gave him a side eye. “Auggie, you lost a leg. That’s kind of a big deal. I know you don’t want a fuss but it’s an adjustment for everyone. Just- I talk to them but you may just have to ride this out. They’ll calm down after a couple months and then you can go back to pretending this isn’t a big deal, okay?”
He sighed. She was right, to an extent. He’d had a lot longer to adjust to his new situation than his family did. And they did care, even if he didn’t appreciate the way they showed it.
“I can put up with the party for an hour and I’ll try not to rush Dad through his tour but can you ask Liam to hold off on the therapy stuff for a bit. I’m just- not ready to think about that.”
She nodded, smiling. “I can do that.”
Done with the conversation, August turned on the radio and closed his eyes, letting the music carry him away from reality for a bit. He would take any break he could get.

Law & Love Chapter 17
A/N: This was supposed to be posted Wednesday but I wasn't able to get online long enough. Sorry about the delay.
Cordell helps Y/N up off the floor and she smooths down her skirt, pulling the top up while he stuffs his junk back into his pants.
She watches as he walks around the ruined table, surveying the damage. As worried as she is about the destruction of the ancient heirloom, he has a look of pride and arrogance on his face.
"Could you maybe not look so smug?" She asks, crossing her arms.
"What? It's an easy fix," he says standing up from his squatted position. " 's nothing a board and some nails won't fix."
"Yea I'm sure your mother will just love that," she sighs.
"She'll never know. The leg broke off in an almost clean line."
"Okay," Y/N shrugs, not really understanding. "If you say so."
Cordell finally looks at her and sees the trepidation on her face. "Hey, darlin'. It'll be fine, I promise."
He rounds the carnage and pulls her to him, draping his arms across her shoulders: her arms going around his waist as she looks up at him.
A small smile graces her lips as she speaks. "We never even made it to dinner. We devoured each other instead."
"That we did," Cordell chuckles. "C'mon-" He says as he pulls away and grabs her hand. "-we'll go down to the Side Step and grab some food and a couple of cold ones."
Turns out the Side Step was a local bar and grill in Austin, which turns out to be very special to the Ranger.
Cordell explains on the drive over that the Side Step was the setting for many of the big points in his life. He'd proposed to Emily, his deceased wife, there; the bar parking lot is where he found out he was going to be a father and lastly, his 32nd birthday party had been held there.
Y/N felt conflicted that he was taking her to a place that held so many loving memories but she pushed those thoughts down. She was going to enjoy her time with Walker.
As soon as they pull in, Y/N can not only see that the place is booming with business but she can also hear. The cacophony of voices and music fill her ears.
She looks over at Cordell and sees a smile on his face as he looks through the windshield.
"C'mon," he says, opening the door. "There's someone I want you to meet."
Y/N joins him at the front of his truck and he grabs her hand, interlocking their fingers.
The music is loud as they step through the wide door, but it's not overbearing. People are still conversing with one another.
Taking a moment to look around, Y/N realizes that the Side Step is the place that many of the townspeople came to unwind and socialize.
There is a massive bar in the middle of the room, with beer taps on both sides and a cabinet in the center, filled with every type of beverage and liquor that Y/N could imagine.
Tables and chairs are placed sporadically throughout the whole place, with a dance floor to the left right in front of an ornate fireplace.
Being the middle of May, the fireplace isn't lit but Y/N imagined that it is beautiful and would give off copious heat.
She follows her date up to the bar where a lean brunette is drying a glass while conversing with a patron.
"Ahem," Cordell clears his throat. "Geri?" His voice sounds strained and Y/N notices he has a look of irritation on his face. His eyes cut toward the fellow at the bar and he feigned a smile. "Mack."
Mack raises his glass of beer in greeting and mods.
Geri, the bartender, sits the glass and towel down and approaches the newest arrivals.
"Cord, I thought you were camping up in Baron Hills," she says as she smiles up at him.
"Good thing I'm not," he snips and both women are taken aback. "What's he doing here?" Cordell asks, gesturing to Mack. "Thought you were through with him?"
Geri sighs. "It's not like that. He's a paying customer and as you can see, he's alone; no one else to talk to. Don't worry, he's kept it civil…….-ish." Geri then turns her attention to Y/N, holding her hand out. "Hi. I'm Geri. You're new around here."
Y/N takes the offered hand and shakes it. "Y/N. Just down for a visit."
"Down from-"
"Montana. Helena."
"What brings you to Austin?"
Y/N can feel her face blush. Once again, she knows that if the truth of her travels were to come out, she'd definitely look like some kind of slut. But, then again, was she?
She'd paid an obscene amount of money on a plane ticket to fly almost 6 hours for a booty call.
"She came to see me," Cordell supplies and Geri nods before her eyes widen and she gasps.
"Y/N? This is her?" Geri asks, looking at Cordell with a smile. "This is whose name slipped out when we slept together the other night?!"
Beau Arlen sits at his desk in the Dripping Springs police station, filling out mundane paperwork.
As much as he is enjoying his life back in Texas with Carla and Emily, he can't help but reminisce about his time as temporary Sheriff in Helena and the friends he made there.
He still keeps in touch with Walter, the acting Sheriff of the northern town. He knows Jenny still had her private investigator agency, with Denise at the helm. He is aware that Cassie has moved to be with some U.S. Marshal she had a fling with but decided to pursue a relationship.
Beau knows that the mayor's daughter got impregnated by the town delinquent and ran off with him. Apparently it was a big deal and the gossip was rampant.
What he was most interested and curious about was Y/N. He hated leaving her like he did, he really did but when Carla stated she wanted to try to rekindle their marriage, he couldn't turn her down.
He wanted Emily to grow up in a stable home with parents who were together and loved one another. It's how he was raised and how he'd always imagined his children would be brought up.
But that didn't mean he didn't care about the woman he shared a bed with for those two months. They hadn't made love but they cuddled and kissed and touched. She would always have a special place in his heart.
"Dad!"
Beau looks up to see his now teenage daughter strolling toward him, a huge smile on her face. 'Damn,' Beau thought. 'Emily is the perfect blend of himself and Carla.
She had dark hair and smooth coffee skin with his emerald eyes and strong bone structure. He smiles at the girl as she approaches his desk.
"Em, what a surprise," he states. "I wasn't expecting you."
"Duh daddy," the teenager says with a roll of her eyes. "It wouldn't be a surprise if you were."
"You got me there," he chuckles as he sits back in his seat. “What brings you in to see your old man?"
"Okay, first. You're not that old Dad," she grumbles. "And secondly. I got an email from Cormac. You remember him?"
"How could I forget the man who saved the most precious thing in my life," Beau answers, curious about what the son of a murderer would want to contact his daughter for. "Why is he emailing you?"
"He wanted to know if I'd be interested in being a junior guide for next season. I'd be mostly babysitting because he's updated Sunny Day Excursions to be more family-oriented. Mom said I had to ask you. So-" she says, clasping her hands together and giving him a pleading look. "-can I?"

Walker Boss, Jared Padalecki on Series Finale’s Surprise Cameo, Cordell and Geri’s [Spoiler], More Season 5 Plans
Walker wrapped up its four-season run on Wednesday with the introduction of a surprising but familiar face as Cordell’s new neighbor: James Van Der Beek!
The Dawson’s Creek vet appeared in the show’s final seconds, dressed in all white, with a smile on his face and a gift of soaps for the Walkers. But don’t let his jovial demeanor fool you: Van Der Beek’s character was set to stir up drama on the Davidson property next door as… a cult leader, showrunner Anna Fricke reveals in the following Q&A.
Talking about the casting, star/executive producer Jared Padalecki tells TVLine that Van Der Beek is “a personal friend.”
“He lives here in Austin, and he and his family are friends of me and my family, and so, it was kind of a phone call. I was like, ‘Hey, dude, you want to come do this?'” Padalecki recalls. When he then mentioned Fricke’s name — the showrunner got her start on Dawson’s Creek — Van Der Beek was on board.
“He came over, and just drove from his house and brought one of his daughters, and did it,” Padalecki shares. “We were really excited to explore that storyline.”
Elsewhere in the series finale: Cordell took a leave of absence from the Rangers to spend time with Geri and his kids, and as he readied to hit the road with them, he pocketed a ring box! Despite thinking she botched her interview, Cassie beat out Trey for the lieutenant position. Meanwhile, Liam and Ben decided to move in together, then Liam got a phone call from the governor, asking for his help, after which a black SUV picked him up.
On the kid front, August graduated high school, and Geri made Sadie and Stella a business proposal. Finally, Bonham and Abeline came to an understanding about the event business — she just wants to oversee things, and he suggested they use the boat for events — then the couple took a ride on the water.
“The season was not written, but needless to say, that [James Van Der Beek] cliffhanger was going to pay off as an enormous part, probably the main driving force, of Season 5,” Padalecki says. “Cordell taking a backseat with his Ranger duties and maybe being purposefully naïve to what’s going on next door… There were so many ways we could go, and it was going to be a damn good season of television, but it’s going to have to live in our imaginations.” (Get more of Padalecki’s thoughts on the show’s end and his TV future.)
Below, showrunner Anna Fricke details Van Der Beek’s role and what else was planned for a fifth season, including Cordell and Geri’s potential engagement and Liam’s mysterious new job.
TVLINE | Looking back on the episode, is there anything that you would’ve done differently or changed? Or are you pretty satisfied with the way it ended? Well, it’s probably a two-part answer. We did not know the fate of the show when we wrote the finale. I wrote the finale with Blythe Ann Johnson. We did know, as always, things are uncertain, and so we tried to, as always, write a cliffhanger, write some twists, leave some threads for an upcoming season. We were given the chance, a little bit into either the prep or the filming of the finale, to change anything, just in case, and we did not yet know the fate of the show. So it was sort of like a gamble, and I wrestled with that decision for many days, and talked to the writers, and talked to the producers and to Jared [Padalecki] about what we should do, if anything, and basically, ultimately, we didn’t want to insert a last-minute scene that would sum everything up. It’s 42 minutes of television. We didn’t want to summarize a whole series in one scene, or a few changed lines, or anything like that. So we, ultimately, decided to leave it as it was, which was a tough decision, but I still feel like it’s a good finale. It’s satisfying in many ways. It does not tell the full tale. This show was supposed to go on for 10 years, in my brain, and so, it doesn’t sum up everything, but I didn’t want to rush it, if that makes sense.
TVLINE | You still get a sense of where these characters are going to end up, even though we don’t actually see it. One thing we did get The CW to agree to, which I’m super grateful for, [is] we do have an extended finale by a few minutes, which is a huge deal in terms of scenes, because there were scenes that we had cut that we put back in, which was huge. So we do have that closure, and everyone is in a good place. When I was discussing the finale with our producer/director, Steve Robin, who I adore, we were talking about like, “It’s a good finale, but is it the-lights-off-at-Cheers?” which is, for a certain age group, like the ultimate finale. [Laughs] And it’s not the-lights-off-at-Cheers because I wasn’t prepared for the end. Had I known I had been writing for the end, I would’ve taken the whole fifth season and really written to the end. But I don’t feel like the characters have been robbed.
TVLINE | You set up some really fun cliffhangers for a potential Season 5, especially with the reveal of James Van Der Beek as the Walkers’ new neighbor. How did that come together? That whole process was so exciting. We always wanted to leave some threads for Season 5. We were going to do the cult next door. So he was supposed to be a cult leader. Ever since James Van Der Beek moved to Austin, we’ve been like, “How do we get him into the show? What can we do?” and this just seemed like the perfect thing, and we finally got him for this part. A small-known fact is that we had actually approached him to be Clint West [in] Season 1, which Austin Nichols, ultimately played, and Austin was so excellent in that role. I would not have it any other way. But James had been on that list for a possible villain. We were sort of circling him, like, “Is this possible? Can we get James?” and Jared and James are friends, and Dawson’s Creek was, of course, my first job in this industry. So it was a very beautiful full-circle thing.
TVLINE | Of all the cliffhangers in this episode, that one was the most like, “Oh, darn, I wish I could’ve seen this play out.” I’m not going to lie, part of me wanted to leave people mad. [Laughs] Part of me wanted to have like a big, splashy ending, so then people would be like, “How could you end this?!” No, it was going to be a lot of fun, and to me, personally, I think there was something profound in James Van Der Beek with Jared on this show, sort of like a great throwback to the original WB, and the commentary on the evolution of this network, which I was maybe reading too much into, but I enjoyed it. [Laughs]
TVLINE | What would the dynamic have been like between James’ character and Cordell? Had you thought that far ahead yet? Oh, gosh. I talked to James, and it was so last-minute. He’s a saint. I think it was truly like the day before we were shooting. It was really, really insanely last-minute, so thank God he lives there. He loved the idea of the cult leader, and I think, actually, half those clothes are his own clothes. [Laughs] He was super into it and super into the dynamic he would bring, and he was really into the idea of playing a fun character, an interesting character, a bad character. He was going to be kind of quirky bad, but amusing. He was going to be a really whimsical, amusing character. We were not going to do blood cult, bad, bad, bad cult. We were going to do like kooky cult.
TVLINE | There was a moment, earlier this season, where I thought Luna might be The Jackal, but then I was like, “No, they wouldn’t do that to Cassie.” But then you killed him, which is, I think, even worse. I know, it’s so funny. So many people thought he was The Jackal, which I love. The crew gets the scripts when all the department heads get the script, so they didn’t know, and so there were crew speculations, all season long, about who The Jackal was, and Luna was up there. Some people thought it was Sadie, which was a good one, too. [Laughs] It was devastating to kill him, but it had to be done for drama. I have a joke about all of our best guest stars, like Matt Barr, Austin Nichols, Justin Cortez Johnson, we just kill them all. But it doesn’t mean anything on our show. You can come back as a ghost. It’s fine.
TVLINE | You did give Cassie a bit of a hopeful note there at the end, when she got the promotion, and it leads to this interesting dynamic of she’s now Cordell’s superior. What were you excited to explore with that, if the show had continued? I was really excited to explore exactly that, her being his superior, but it wasn’t going to be a desk job with her. She was going to still be on the streets. But I was excited to see the dynamic of her having to discipline or corral or whatever Walker and Trey, and sort of be in charge of them a bit, and make calls with Captain James. We’ve never seen him have a number two. So that would’ve been really fun. And just seeing her have that dynamic of taking control of a job that Cordell, himself, never wanted, and just seeing her take charge would’ve been really fun.
TVLINE | Geri and Cordell went through their struggles this season, but they ended the finale in a much healthier place. Is it safe to say they were definitely going to get engaged? You know, it’s funny. We had a joke in the writers’ room about the end of the series, and truly, I thought it was going to go 10 years. Walker says to Emily in a flashback, I think, in Season 1, Episode 6, I think he says, “Going to marry Geri and work at the Side Step,” if Emily ever dies. And so that was sort of the end goal, but even when I was given the chance to alter the finale in any way, I didn’t want to get there. It was too fast for a proposal. So I didn’t want to do that right away. The engagement ring box was a very last-minute add. It was truly on the day of filming that scene. We went to the props department and said, “Hey, do you have a box? Can we put it in his pocket?” We shot it as an insert so that we could cut it out if we needed to. We didn’t want to be married to it, literally. I didn’t want marriage to be the end-all, be-all for her. I wanted more for her. So I didn’t want to rush to an engagement for that reason, and it just seemed too fast. I think, ultimately, yes, they end up together. If we’d had a fifth season, we would’ve made a story point out of the engagement, as in, like, he didn’t ask, or he did and it went south, or something happened. We wouldn’t have done that off-screen, for what it’s worth.
TVLINE | When she calls out to him, he says in this meaningful way, “I’m ready,” and it’s obvious he’s talking on another subtextual level. But it sounds like Geri’s not ready, she’s not in the same place. For sure. I was always, like, “Geri’s not ready.” I was always very interested in the character of Geri, of she wants more, and she wants something else. So even if he was ready to propose, I don’t know that she was ready to say yes. That was going to be a whole other thing.
TVLINE | How might have this time away from work have changed Cordell with the leave of absence? That’s interesting. Part of me wonders, in a fifth season, if he ever goes back. Because I never thought, in my mind, that he went to the grave a ranger. I think, at a certain point, he stopped it, because to me, his struggle has always been the work/life balance between family and work, and where is he going to end up? I think that, ultimately, hopefully, he gets more invested in his kids and steps away from that, and from the get-go, he wasn’t gunning to be captain, lieutenant, anything like that. He’s not trying to climb that ladder. So what is it for him? And I don’t know. I think he would’ve gone back for a season to be partnered with Trey on the streets, just doing the daily grind as a ranger. But I don’t know if he would’ve gone too much further beyond that. I think he would’ve maybe gone on to something else.
TVLINE | What can you say about what the governor wanted Liam’s help with? The governor’s daughter was kidnapped. Liam has a very particular set of skills, and the governor wanted Liam’s help. We were going to get Liam back into the halls of the political offices and dealing with that stuff. So it was going to be fun, Liam-doing-high-stakes-government stuff.
TVLINE | One of the other things that you hinted at but was kind of left dangling was the business proposal that Geri made to Sadie and Stella. Any details you can share about that? It was going to be the Side Step expanding and just keeping it in the family, and also, just keeping Saylor [Bell] on the show, because we love Saylor, we love working with her. We could only have so many series regulars, but we really loved working with Saylor. So it was sort of dangling a carrot of if there’s another Side Step, do we open this up? Do we have another storyline with the expanded Side Step? And what that opening is like, and what pursuing Sadie’s music is like at the same time. We just wanted to keep her in the mix.
TVLINE | Have you changed your mind, at all, about Cassie and Trey? [Fricke previously told TVLine there were no romantic feelings between the characters.] [Laughs hysterically] No. I never want them to be together. [Laughs] That’s so funny, Vlada, that you would ask that. Oh, my God, I’m like crying laughing. That was an ongoing argument in the writers’ room.
TVLINE | I remember you mentioning that. So I wondered if maybe somebody had swayed you by the end of the season. No, I did not want them to be together. Here’s the thing: In my mind, if we had gone 10 seasons, in the finale, maybe they would’ve gotten together, yes. Certainly not in this timeline. Ultimately, sure, but no. If we had been on 10 years, and she had gone on to the FBI, and blah, blah, blah, and they revisited each other, sure. But not when they were working in the same office. No, no, no. In Season 5, he was going to have an old Army friend, a female friend, calling. He was getting mysterious phone calls. He was going to have an old Army friend calling him for help that was going to cause some complications for him. So that was going to happen there.
TVLINE | Were there any other Season 5 storylines that you were excited about? I’m sure we had a ton. The cult was going to be fun. August was going to fall in love with — That was our in: August is going to fall in love with the girl next door, get dragged into the cult, have to be extracted. That was going to be fun. The governor stuff, leading to a proposal at the end of Season 5 with Walker and Geri… It would’ve been great.

Walkerverse Midseason Hiatus Creations
Week 1: Favourite Dynamic
Cordell Walker&Larry James
The more I talk about these two the more feelings I'll have left, but what I can tell for sure is. They have been through hell and back together, and nothing brings me as much comfort as imagining h/c scenarios between the two
My offerings:
1: My take on Day after Emily's funeral
ID: A 3 part comic (of sorts) In first panel we have Cordell looking wrecked with a tight smile, assuring James that he is Fine, James is unimpressed, and in second panel, he gently pokes Cordell with a finger, as Cordell falls down immediately. In third panel, James sarcastically asks if he's "Totally fine" and Walker replies that that was SO unnecessary
Look me in my eyes and tell me something like this did not actually happen. You'd be WRONG.
2: Night of the Morgue Scene TM
ID: James looking heartbroken as he hugs a completely distraught and crying Cordell after he's seen her body in the Morgue slab
