Il y a une dizaine de jours, je suis parti retrouver Christine à Narbonne.

Le Musée Narbo Via, dédié à la Narbo romaine (cette ville fut la première ville romaine hors d'Italie et un des 3 plus grands ports de l'Empire romain)

une horreia = une allège portuaire (bon, qu'on sache bien que je ne sais même pas ce qu'est une allège...apparemment c'est une embarcation prévue pour de courts trajets, des transferts de marchandises...)

This may be an odd ask, but -- do you have a specific design for the ifrit's ship? Was it based off a real-world ship design like a corbita? Or something you came up with yourself? Or is it meant to be 'generic ship-ship, let's get on with the story' type thing?

Oh, this is a fun one! The Oryx herself is based loosely off a Baghlah, a large type of dhow with 2-3 traditional lateen sails. Historically these ships were known to exist by around ~1,000 C.E., though I took the liberty of transposing them about 2,000 years earlier for the sake of the story.

The Oryx's exact design can be found here! She's actually a relatively small ship compared to most other ifrit vessels, even though she's still massive by human standards. It gives her the advantage of being faster and more nimble than her counterparts, which has saved her more times than can be counted.

The one on the left is probably a cladivata and on the right a corbita. A cladivata is a large asymmetrical merchant ship with two masts, without rudders, relatively slender and with a large sail area. A corbita is a large, round and symmetrical ship with a high hull, a central mast and an artemon (foresail) in front, usually set at an angle. The most common type of ship in merchant shipping, it was suitable for heavy sea transport and belongs to the large family of naves onerariae (massive, heavily laden cargo ships that were also used for troop movements).

The oculus is the eye on the hull, the forerunner of the figurehead. I think the rest is self-explanatory.

Rules of Life

Julie Marie Cane Corbita was born on the 7th day of July in the year 2001 a Filipino blooded baby girl in the city of Good life called 'Oroquieta City'.

She is currently staying in Cagayan De Oro city a Grade 12 student at liceo de cagayan university who is taking the strand of humanities and social science (HUMSS).

Marie has a younger brother named John Kenneth C. only they are the only children of their parents before they separate namely Mr.Dionie T. Corbita, a bishop's driver and Ms.Ruzel C. Cane, a house wife, they are living a normal life by their own and have a normal family that experiences the struggles of life.

During the elementary days of Marie, She often gets envious for being so alone in the corner while seeing her friends accompanied by their parents in school that made her cry a bucket and lead her to get annoyed all day. She envied the absence of her Mama and Papa's presence. At the age of 12, she graduated from elementary and decided to change herself and be more motivated, inspired and show the whole world who is the new Julie Marie C. Corbita is and what she can do and conquer,that's why she graduated in high school with a lovable self, she was able to do the thing that she had never done before the cause and effect is she was able to discover her hidden talent the potentials in the art, writing and a sociable student in their class that made her one of the friendly students in their batch, she can't imagine that she is able to represent herself in a different light. She has a good circle of friends that is pure to her. She was also able to make her parents see the good in her and accepted the fact that they happily live separately now, in short, I can see they are proud of me.

Today Marie is already an 18 years old young lady who is experiencing the difficulties of her journey towards her goals of success but still maintaining the burning desire to achieve bigger than before of her dreams with the help of the almighty God in heaven she is striving hard to meet her success in the end.

Moreover, Julie Marie C. Corbita becomes a change person now and decided to follow the right path of life with a brighter future. She will remain strong until she knows the secret of success. She is also a believer of a quote of " The Six Rules of Life"

Corbita-Ang Aking Paniniwala

Bilang isang kristiyano, naniniwala ako na iisa lang ang aking dapat dasalan at sambahin at iyon ang Diyos dahil mula noong maliit pa ako, ugali na namin ng aking pamilya na magsimba sa Panginoon sa simbahan tuwing Linggo. Kaya naman bilang Kristiano, matapos kong tanggapin si Hesu Kristo na aking sarili tagapagligtas at Panginoon, kailangan kong sumunod sa kanyang mga kautosan at mamuhay ng ayon sa utos ng Panginoong Hesu Kristo para Siya ay mabigyang puri sa aking pamumuhay.

DIPOLOG CITY, Zamboanga del Norte – The vice mayor of Baliguian town, his police escort, and a civilian were killed in an ambush on the highway in Siocon town at around 11:20 a.m. Saturday, police said.

In an initial report, the Siocon Municipal Police Station identified the fatalities as Vice Mayor Gani Esmali of Baliguian, police escort Patrolman Godelito Corbita Bongcac, and Jaymalin Jalabi Tunggal.

Their fourth companion, Abduladjid Ibno Bairula, is in critical condition at a hospital, said Maj. Edison Alviar, Siocon police chief.

Alviar said Esmali and his companions were traveling from Baliguian to Siocon on board a sports utility vehicle when ambushed by about five men armed with high-power firearms.

He said the suspects fled back toward Baliguian on board a gray Toyota Hilux.

Recovered from the ambush site were 49 cartridges of M-16 Armalite rifle and an aluminum magazine loaded with 18 M-16 bullets.

Siocon and Baliguian, located in the third district of the province, border the Zamboanga Sibugay and Zamboanga City, are areas that police identify favorite hideouts of armed groups, including kidnap-for-ransom gangs and terrorists.

Aside from the military and the police, the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) and the Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) maintain fighters in these areas. (PNA)
