Sometimes I think that parodies of late 90s/early 2000s culture are too over the top...and then sometimes I stumble upon a relic like Coolboarders and realize nah, shit was just that lit

What I’ve Been Playing - July 2017
Hey all, here’s the monthly update of what I’ve been playing! I’ve been really busy this month but I’ve tried to play as much as I can! Dying Light Dying Light is a very interesting game. I went into it with mixed feelings since I was worried this would feel like Dead Island. While the combat is incredibly similar, the crafting system, movement system, graphics, etc. are all much improved and it gives the game a much more polished experience. The open world is done pretty well the game seems like there was actual passion put into it and over time it seems the game has gotten even better with its expansion and updates. I still have yet to put more time into it other than a few hours but my general impressions of it are good. Anyone wanna play CO-OP sometime? :)
Crysis This game is just incredible. Not from a graphical perspective but just from a game design perspective. The game is definitely one of the best wide-linear games to date. The amount ways you can approach a scenario is just mind blowing and still holds up incredibly well today. The combat and abilities are still awesome. I will forever love Crysis because of it’s very PC oriented game design and gameplay. It just feels awesome.
Dead Rising 2 Played about 4 hours of this with a friend. I played this game sometime ago by myself and didn’t really enjoy it that much. I know everyone loves this series to death but I couldn’t find much joy in it (even the first one). But playing the game CO-OP actually feels really nice and I had a lot of fun playing it with a friend. I don’t like the game as much as most people do, but it’s not a bad game, just not for me.
PlayerUnknowns BattleGrounds I’m not new to this game genre, being a fan of the original DAYZ mod and all. I really do enjoy this game. There’s a real reason why it’s the most sold game on Steam with no signs of slowing down. It’s very well made for an Early Access title and the overall polish is nice. But the Last Man Standing Battle Royale genre has a very attractive game loop in it because of how short the rounds are that are JUST long enough you don’t get too invested in your character and you’re not pissed off that you lost. The game feels fair enough even though it does have some “bullshit” moments. It’s an absolute blast with friends and I can’t really recommend it enough for that reason alone. I’m a big fan of ARMA and it just feels like a very condensed form of it.
BodyCount A game no one remembers. This game was a spiritual sequel to the hit action game, BLACK. This game is very similar in the sense that you can literally blow up a ton of stuff, lots of shooting and lots of bad guys. The game this time went with a Arcade theme and style. It’s about getting headshots, combo kills, using environment damage, and just not dying. I liked BLACK’s overall style and theme but this game isn’t bad, it’s just mostly uninteresting. It also performs terribly and it’s pretty disappointing this never came to PC.
During this month I picked up a rather decent sized haul for really good price. Most of these games aren’t amazing but I found some fun in them. I have a problem with enjoying bargain bin styled games.
Playstation 2 Games: Tekken 5 - Of course awesome. Played a billion hours of this. Transformers 2004 - I heard it was good, so far I’m enjoying it! Conflict Global Terror - A good game at the time, bad now, but still good. IGPX Immortal Grand Prix - A very unique racing fighting game. It’s alright. Tourist Trophy - Best Polyphony Digital game. Unmatched by other bike games. PowerDrome - A Bethesda budget racing game, for 50 cents, it’s really fun. Blowout - A really dated, uninteresting, budget sidescroller from Majesco. Coolboarders 2001 - This game hasn’t aged well either. Really boring. Kill Switch - This game is really awesome. Still holds up pretty decently! Hypersonic.Xtreme - Awful, cheap, Wipeout clone that isn’t fun and ugly.
Not much to show off this month but I’ve been playing as much as I can! What have you been playing?
