Honestly, you had me at “no classes before 9 a.m.”—that should be a human right. I swear I’m biologically incapable of forming a coherent thought before 8:45 unless it’s about tea.

I definitely got a little too ambitious with my course load too, but I keep telling myself it’ll all even out once we’re in the rhythm of things. (Future me might disagree. She’s probably already overwhelmed. I owe her a cookie.)

it was based off this tiktok and we were just talking about nico and the twins maybe having a habit of camping in switzerland during the offseason. and obviously honey joins them when she goes to switzerland with them. and just the twins tucked between them in their wee sleeping bags and all three hischiers being a bit grumpy in the morning with nico half awake but happily letting marley climb all over him. meanwhile, honey has a sleepy otto tucked against her and just letting him cling onto her whilst she has this wee whispered conversation with nico

and imagining the twins with wee camping chairs and imagining them wearing cute little beanies with bears on them and imagining camping days where they swim in a lake and make smores around the fire and just being SO CUTE AND WHOLESOME

ambassadors gain a few acquaintances from marley. around their age, pretty similar world experience (more so with the warriors ofc).

and there's this guy in particular who they really hit it off with. he shares the intelligence and worldview of armin, charisma of pieck, dry dark humour of mikasa, but knows just when to light up when the convo requires. he gets pretty close to everyone, being around and working with them everyday like back in training days. and he's that type of person in a group setting who wants to pull introverts out of their shells and hear everyone's opinions.

the first time he asks "what about you annie?" an alarm goes in armin's head, because wtf?? why her in particular? but he recalls a few instances where he specifically asked someone something depending on the subject, so he lets it go.

but then he mentions something as "something annie would love" and he knows it's spot on... okay. he's a good observer. he probably knows what armin would love too. since he knows every fucking thing. because he's so smart and educated. but that's only because he had more opportunities than armin, he tells himself.

then he makes a remark while eye to eye with annie among the whole group, clearly directing it at her. like an inside joke. and she gives a sly repressed grin with those eyes. and it's the first time observing annie from the outside has been painful for armin instead of intriguing and warming. because it's a pair he's looking at, looking at each other, and him the only outsider.

It wasn't like Leo's game plan was to sleep with Marley tonight. He would have been fine with just a night together, cuddling in bed watching a movie as they ate food before passing out in each others arms. tbf i don't super know what's popular with her Specifically, but my complaints apply to how most female characters are treated in fandom, chiefly that the ships i see for her most do not compel me at all!! and i say this as a forever rarepair/crackshipper in several fandoms over. she has plenty of rich relationships in canon that need not be romantic and offer tons of insight into the position of eldians in marley (see these convos), shipping is the least interesting thing we can offer her

zeke? i think she's never trusted him for a second, and zeke isn't close to anyone/his canonverse anti-natalism is sex averse. jean? tons of people get tucked into armpits in battle here. porco? maybe my only really unpopular take, but imo she sees him as a taller warrior candidate—field experience matters more than similar age, i think her softness toward him is pretty much how she treats the kids. yelena? pieck's flirtation in liberio is mostly a means to an end. hange? idc they meet as adults, i think hange wouldn't be attracted to someone of an age with the 104th, and nothing they say about the cart is all that different to how they treat eren early on

my favorite favorite pieck interactions are with falbi and magath, the odd, cross-generational camaraderie that doesn't get emotional until magath's death, but i'm not a total killjoy who needs to justify every relationship with canon: at the end of the day i see her and connie as buddies who bond over elder care and unexpectedly remind each other of sasha and porco bc in general i hc the alliance fitting into/easing each other's losses imperfectly

Stop the Elon Musk government shutdown!

Congress only has until midnight, March 14, to avoid a government shutdown.

Even before Trump was sworn in for a second term, House Speaker Mike Johnson was communicating with Elon Musk about federal budget negotiations and how to avoid a government shutdown in December.1

Why was the Speaker of the House texting Elon Musk about budget negotiations? Probably because Elon Musk sent a barrage of posts on social media pressuring Republican lawmakers to vote against the proposed Continuing Resolution (CR) to fund the government―and they listened.2

Another short-term CR was passed at the last minute and that is the one that will expire on March 14th unless Congress acts.

Musk and cronies embedded in the Trump administration are clawing back funding for federal agencies, freezing government funds often at random, and firing tens of thousands of workers―compromising everything from the civil rights of students, taxpayer assistance, disability claims reviews for Social Security, food inspections, workers rights, and airline safety. This is turning the negotiation process into chaos as the deadline to avoid a government shutdown gets closer and closer. This week, Musk has attended closed door meetings with Republican members of Congress and has been texting Senate Appropriations Committee Chair, Sen. Susan Collins. As Senate Appropriations Committee Vice Chairwoman Sen. Patty Murray said:3

“We cannot stand by and accept a yearlong power grab CR that would help Elon take a chainsaw to programs that families rely on and agencies that keep our communities safe.”

first impressions on cultural differences btwn toronto and vancouver

in vancouver, non-cyclists have a consciousness of bike theft and let you (or even encourage you!) to bring your bike inside lots of different venues incl small boutiques, movie theatres, etc.

housing is more expensive than toronto (although i am actually paying less for rent) but groceries are a third of the price (a box of strawberries is $3 in BC, $9 in toronto)

there are a shit ton of aussies, brits, irish and japanese young people on work holiday visas

it is oft-repeated that "it's hard to make friends in vancouver" and i recognize that most friends i have made are from elsewhere. but i feel that (if this adage is even true) it is a consequence of the cost of living and the reality of displacement, not some inherent attitude of vancouverites. like obviously nobody's rushing to make besties with the 1 million directionless ontarian stoners on 6 month leases who will be back in oshawa by christmas. if you're hear to play you'll probably just find playmates.

british columbia has more legit and deeply entrenched punk houses and co-ops, which is rad, but the oogle factor is also more extreme, which is perhaps a natural part of the ecosystem. toronto has crusties but at least a fraction of them seem to be actually busking for their lives or selling drugs or hustling places to sleep besides collecting allowance from their parents

weird ass genre of hippie nationalism exists out here? saw a car totally covered in bob marley and RCMP stickers?? you will see 8 million dollar homes with a psychedelic VW-minibus parked out front.

i've only had 1 organizing convo out here but the ppl i spoke to seemed to envision toronto as this super sophisticated militant city with all this untouchable strategic maturity...oh dear we are in trouble if toronto is the bar
