Plot ⇥ my boyfriend refuses to drive across the country with me to go to my best friend’s wedding because of a work thing, so when i complained about it she suggested that i go with her older brother who i hate. not only does he show up late to pick me up, but the car’s old with a broken gas gauge and there’s no way in hell we’re making it all the way from california to new york with this clunky old thing. we spend our days driving with the only conversation being arguments and our nights in separate hotel rooms, and just like i predicted, the car breaks down in the middle of nowhere iowa and the only bed and breakfast for miles has only one room available. i get to spend a night sharing a room with the worst person ever !  aka i hate my best friend’s super hot older brother but i’m stuck in a car with him for 3 days and sexual tension is building with each argument we have and now we’re stuck in a hotel room together and i really just wanna have some hate sex before we go

This was their fifth or sixth fight that her and Declan had. It was driving Kassie insane and so furious. The music was too loud or telling him he should have turned left to get to the right spot. Asking him to pull over to get some food or that his car is a hunk of junk that isn't going to actually make it and low and behold... It broke down. Getting out of the car, she slammed the door shut as she groaned. ❝ Are you joking me right now Declan! I told you that this wasn't going to make it and look now.. We're stuck in god knows where and I can't sit in that stupid car any longer. ❞ She sighed out heavily as she pointed toward his car. ❝ I'm pretty sure I saw that there was a motel or something a mile up. Just... let me see if I can call someone. ❞ She spoke as she avoided his eyes and pulled her phone out which sadly... looked like it was dead.

She felt his body tense before she saw it and then his hand was pulling from her grasp. She'd never claimed to be the best with emotions, after all, her relationship with his best friend had just ended, and she hadn't been entirely blameless in that. At the rejection off his lips, Britt resorted to what she knew best, acting like she didn't care. Sure, she'd already hurt him, but now he was hurting her, the idea of rejection too great to emotionally manage properly, and now she was going to hurt him worse. Her head shook, short blonde locks falling around her shoulders. "It is insecure. Yeah, if the roles were reversed, I'd be pissed but I'd believe you." she countered, running a hand through her hair before a scoff left her lips. "Then go." she gestured toward the door of her bedroom. "Just fucking Go Dec."

Maybe if she hadn't said his name again he could have stayed. Instead, Declan's entire body tensed and he pulled out of her hold. Britt was the most beautiful, sweetest thing in his life. She was his anchor and now he didn't know what to do. His eyes stung as he backed away. "I want to believe you. I really fucking want to believe you. Whether you meant to do it or not, this really fucking hurt me, Britt. I don't know what's worse- whether you meant or if it was an slip of the tongue. If the show was on the other foot, I think you'd have a really hard time believing that I wasn't thinking about some other woman while I was inside of you. Maybe that's insecure, but I'm just being honest. I should go." Go, the thought, and drink himself into oblivion until he forgot the last hour of his life.

hi anon! thank youuu!! i agree there aren't enough post-gw stories out there. i'll give you a lil small summary but i'll keep some cute details out (you'll have to read it).

The story I haven't talked about yet takes place after chapter 53 (?/pre-epilogue) (i.e. lynch bros are reunited, matthew's alive, declan cries a lot about niall, blah blah). it's mainly a convo between ronan and declan but there's a cute adam&matthew bonding moment and all the bros joking and being happy for once.

like you know he's so good with kids from countless interactions with his teammate's children and those kids on matchdays, so it doesn't surprise you when:

he asks the club so he can walk alongside your kid on every home matchdays

your kid's bit of an introvert, somewhat like you, so he always makes sure they're comfortable. including striking up convos with other kids present so they're no longer nervous

he holds your kid's hand, putting over the jacket if they're cold, or even hold your kid in his arm if they don't feel like walking that day

he always catches your kid after a match ends, nothing beats the feeling where he has your kid in his arms, safe and sound, no matter the result

eventho he's tired after a match, he always has time to run another lap with your kid so they can try to kick some ball on a real pitch (bcs they've been complaining your backyard's not big enough to play ball)

he always takes his family for a lunch or dinner (depending on the match's schedule) after a home match, it's now a tradition you're all looking forward too

your kid gives a knee support at every christmas because they don't want declan getting hurt while playing AND HE WEARS THEM WITHOUT FAIL

It was an odd mix of hating that Declan could read her like a book, and loving that there was someone in the world who knew her inside and out, sometimes better than she knew herself. Though she wasn't about to tell him as much. She could feel the goosebumps rising on her flesh; a common reaction whenever he toyed with her like this. Like she was prey and he was a predator biding his time, enjoying the rush of the hunt before he attacked. It was a dangerous dynamic, but neither of them could seem to break it. "Now why would I bother lying to you?" she mused, turning to look at him and tilt her head, wide eyes giving him a playfully innocent look. His next words caused those wide chocolate eyes to roll as a slight chuckle left her. "I don't have to convince you of anything." she countered.

Addy hadn't sat, and now he was standing closer to her, she couldn't help as one arm crossed over her middle as if she could create some sort of physical and mental barrier to keep herself from him. His words and the rise of his smirk only caused her own lips to form one as well as she nodded, bringing her beer to her lips and taking a sip. "That's right." she agreed, a brow rising slightly at his proposition before a half-scoff, half-chuckle left the brunette's lips. "Awh, you see someone else doing it and now you're gonna try and wine and dine me, is that it?" she questioned condescendingly, tipping her bottle back to her lips. "You should stay in your lane D. Trying to play gentleman doesn't suit you." She knew she was challenging him, only fueling the flames of the fire that was clearly burning between them; but that's who they were, and she couldn't have stopped if she'd tried.

His grin deepened, brilliant and knowing, as if he could see straight through her bullshit. “Mhm, sure you don’t,” Declan murmured, voice quiet and satiny, a challenge wrapped in amusement. He stalked her, close enough that she could feel the warmth of his presence, but not touching. Not yet. “That’s the amusing thing about untruths, Addy.” His steps were sluggish, and deliberate, like a predator biding its time. “You gotta tell them just right, or they'll end up tasting sour on your tongue.” When she didn’t respond immediately, he slanted lazily against the edge of the sofa, beer still in palm, observing her like she was the only thing worth seeing. "But go ahead, keep pretending." He took another gulp, clear eyes lingering. "You’re good at it. Almost convincing, even."

Flickering between the screen and the stunning woman before him, there's no denying the heat fueling the space. "So, you don't know why I'm here. You haven't missed me. And you aren't going to let me ravish you-" He paused, flashing her an impish smirk. "That sound about right?" He questioned, golden brow quirking. "At least let me treat you to dinner."

This time it was her turn to slap his arm down, however, she still kept her grip around him. "What are you doing!" She exclaimed, with a huff. "If this was a Disney movie, birds would be singing to us... we'd have crabs whispering in our ears telling us to make out. Don't worry, I am fully aware of that we are actually in a 1980's horror." Her eyes scanned the woods, then followed to the noise that came from their left.

"Right... are you going to check that out or am I going to have to?" She said with a shaky voice, but she silently prayed he would take the risk himself for some sort of hero complex. "If you get murdered, I promise I'll tell people you put up a good fight."

Declan jumped as she grabbed him, but instinctively put his arm in front of her. Perhaps it was because she was smaller then him... but then perhaps his instincts just took over in that situation. He crouched slowly. "This isn't a disney movie." he replied sarcastically. "Plus i'm literally a wolf... there are other things in these woods that bite." He bit his teeth together quickly to make her jump.

"Besides i told you... something is out here. I wasn't joking." He moved his head quickly, hearing something to their left. His smile faded and as did any joke he was making. Something was out there.
