Olivia Bee

Olivia Bee or Boles is an American Photographer from Oregan. She was born in 1994 on April 5th making her 28. Her works is focused on portraits and frequently showcase celebrities like Kesha, Die Antwood, Katy Perry, Keke Palmer and many more. Her colours are can vary but in the pieces above its mostly warm yellows or golds with a cool toned background or elements. She also uses shutter speed incredibly well to create blurred/blurry elements of 'fuzzy' or haze lighting. "She is intrigued by the beauty of everyday life and how the beauty of memories (real or imagined) touches us." is a description from her website (http://oliviabee.com/contact/). Her composition changes between images but the main person/people is always the focus. At the young age of 14 her photography was used in a converse campaign. Her work was also used in Levi, Adidas, Nike and many more. "In 2011 she cited Ryan McGinley, Annie Leibovitz and Nan Goldin as influences, and attributed her inspiration to her younger brother, mother and father's musical and artistic talents." (wikipedia) "Nan Goldin is a major influence, but while Goldin's photographs portrayed the seamier side of sex and drugs and rock'n'roll, Bee finds a dreamlike, innocent colour in her friends' gently dissolute experimentation."(https://www.theguardian.com/artanddesign/2013/feb/24/olivia-bee-interview-photographer-hermes). She has many influences that helped her become the photographer/director that she is now. She has said most of her work is done using a "Olympus OM-1 or OM-10" but some newer accounts say a "Contax T2 and G2", she likes these for the quality of their film. She uses nice bright lighting to keep her portraits in the limelight but in some of her personal photographs of herself and company she uses regular daylight. Olivia starred in a short film by Adam Beck and Paul Johnston called "A Kid From Somewhere: Olivia Bee" about her "photographic process". she also directed the music video for Olivia Rodrigo's song "Traitor" and Ingrid Address's music video for "Feel like this". I really enjoy the life she puts in all of her photography, she adds her own personal flair with the shutter speed effects or the lighting while keeping the models aesthetic untouched. Her photography seems very in the moment and not forces or posed and I like the sense of fluidity in these images.
