Olivia Bee
Olivia Bee or Boles is an American Photographer from Oregan. She was born in 1994 on April 5th making her 28. Her works is focused on portraits and frequently showcase celebrities like Kesha, Die Antwood, Katy Perry, Keke Palmer and many more. Her colours are can vary but in the pieces above its mostly warm yellows or golds with a cool toned background or elements. She also uses shutter speed incredibly well to create blurred/blurry elements of 'fuzzy' or haze lighting. "She is intrigued by the beauty of everyday life and how the beauty of memories (real or imagined) touches us." is a description from her website (http://oliviabee.com/contact/). Her composition changes between images but the main person/people is always the focus. At the young age of 14 her photography was used in a converse campaign. Her work was also used in Levi, Adidas, Nike and many more. "In 2011 she cited聽Ryan McGinley, Annie Leibovitz and Nan Goldin聽as influences, and attributed her inspiration to her younger brother, mother and father's musical and artistic talents." (wikipedia) "Nan Goldin聽is a major influence, but while Goldin's photographs portrayed the seamier side of sex and drugs and rock'n'roll, Bee finds a dreamlike, innocent colour in her friends' gently dissolute experimentation."(https://www.theguardian.com/artanddesign/2013/feb/24/olivia-bee-interview-photographer-hermes). She has many influences that helped her become the photographer/director that she is now. She has said most of her work is done using a "Olympus OM-1 or OM-10" but some newer accounts say a "Contax T2 and G2", she likes these for the quality of their film. She uses nice bright lighting to keep her portraits in the limelight but in some of her personal photographs of herself and company she uses regular daylight. Olivia starred in a short film by Adam Beck and Paul Johnston called "A Kid From Somewhere: Olivia Bee" about her "photographic process". she also directed the music video for Olivia Rodrigo's song "Traitor" and Ingrid Address's music video for "Feel like this". I really enjoy the life she puts in all of her photography, she adds her own personal flair with the shutter speed effects or the lighting while keeping the models aesthetic untouched. Her photography seems very in the moment and not forces or posed and I like the sense of fluidity in these images.

these photos are for my photo essay on perspective and appearance. I wanted to show how how your perspective of people changes on how they look and express themselves with their appearance.

these images were for my reading week assignment. the photos we had to take were; shutter speed, minimalism, rule of thirds, differential focus and a personal choice (in that order). I feel my differential focus image could have been better, maybe if there was more space between my objects it would've turned out better. I love how the moon looks in the last photo and felt very autumnal to me and that's why its my favourite.

in this lab we worked with the white balance and changing it. by using white paper it made the photos turn a blue / green hue and then in contrast using a teal /. blue colour to set the white balance it made the photos a warmer tone. this helped me on my photo essay assignment to change hues.

in lab 5 we did moving closer to your subject and balance in photos. my iso should've been better suited for the lighting as most my photos were underexposed. we also focused on straight lines and I used the beams under the balcony section connecting D, E and F block.

in lab 4 we looked at taking multiple pictures of the same subject but at different angles. I chose a spiderweb on a tree just outside of campus to focus on. another prompt was underexposure on photos and I chose the swan. I enjoy underexposing my images so I liked this prompt. and finally we recreated a picture we found in the Dr谩iocht when we visited it.

lab 3 focused on differential focus, shown in these images with the flower in focus and the wall out of focus and vice versa. its easily achieved with manual focus and a good distance between your subjects. I also included this spiderweb photo as a personal favourite from this class.

in our second class we focused on shutter speed. we captured this by people running or on an electric scooter. I personally like the last two as in the first shot Rionn is in focus and the next he is out of focus, showing how the different focus on the subject can change an image.

this was my first photography lab. the colour palette is mostly green colours with some pinks and whites. I find nature to be very inspiring and love finding shapes in nature, such as the heart in the leaf.
