The Bridgewater podcast spinoff Consumed has started. I listened to the first two episodes and enjoying it so far--exactly the spooky regional small town historical vibes I hoped for.

Favorite setting described so far--the old church turned library/museum.

There's a puppy named Misha.

i'm not much of a podcast girlie so the main reason i listened to bridgewater was for misha, even though i love supernatural themes and ended up loving the story. i just listened to the trailer for the new spinoff and tbh it sounds like if someone turned an spn motw case into a lengthy fic so even though misha is only a guest star my spncore brain is excited for this new story and having ruthie (and yeh gen) in the mix is an added treat.

one of my fav fav fav things is when an actor with a distinct and very recognizable accent is cast in a media where it would be a little weird for their character to have that accent and so you start the media like "wow i hope they dont make them do a cheesy fake american accent for this role" AND THEN THEY DONT AND ITS AMAZING. peace and love on the planet earth.

I'm listening to fiction podcasts with 5 fans. I'm playing a video game the creators want you to pirate. I'm watching a minecraft roleplay. Ok, now that Consumed is almost finished, I think I figured out what bugs me.

It’s not ALL bad, to be clear.

- I like the main characters. Gordon, I vibed with straightaway. Still warming to Sarah, but she’s growing on me.

- Ruth Connell is great. She’s essentially the Misha of this podcast: a reason to stay invested.

- I like the soundtrack. It gives the podcast somewhat of an identity, something that really bothered me about Bridgewater. (If BW had a soundtrack, it wasn’t prominent enough.)

My main issue is how SHORT the episodes are. Each is like 16/18 minutes long (possibly shorter with ads), and barely anything happens?!?!?!

If something DOES occur plotwise, its REALLY obscure and without visuals, I have no idea what is going on. And if I’m starting to form a picture, the episode’s done…

The “I’ve watched/listened to/read this thing so you don’t have to, here are my comments/analysis” thing is for movies etc, it is not for political pieces. I cannot stress how important it is to consume those things for yourself and make up your own mind. Do not let other people think for you

I am so sad thinking about John and Arthur rn. Just the fact that John feels like Arthur only wants him there out of necessity, and that's why John is so wary of Arthur making connections and having other friends. Because then Arthur wouldn't need him anymore, and he thinks that Arthur wouldn't want him around otherwise.

Also, the whole situation with John feeling isolated bc Arthur is quite literally the only person he has. I'm so upset thinking about how Noel was the first person they trusted enough for Arthur to tell him about John and that at first John was freaking out about it and then Noel takes it so well and actually asks for John's opinion on things and Arthur is able to literally give John a voice of his own so he can talk to him. And when Noel was hanging off the edge of that railing and John fought Yellow off so that Arthur could pull him back up, and John didn't even know how he was able to project himself like that in the first place, but he did, to save Noel. And the fact that Noel, in the face of being told that John is a fracture of the KIY, the god that tortured Noel in the dreamland for years and killed his friends, Noel is understanding, and he reassures John that he isn't like the King. Noel is the first person outside of Arthur that John has had, and now he's gone.
