honestly i used to have this idea of like “oh yeahhh tiktok trends/twitter discourse they dont represent people’s views in real life!” boy was i fucking wrong. seeing my friends completely change how they acted based on micro-trends just to move onto the next, hearing little boys as young as 8 laugh and joke about andrew tate and seeing little girls take over sephora obsessively searching for makeup

Alastor's Furby Organ - Fic Prompt
Vox is attempting to sell the benefits of advancing technology to Alastor for the umpteenth time, either genuinely or patronizingly, when Alastor sees it.
The second greatest piece of technology he's ever laid eyes on.
He interrupts Vox in the middle of his tirade and zips up to it and is absolutely tickled pink by its creepiness and charming exterior.
Alastor, trying not to sound excited: And what's this delightful little thing?
Vox: Oh that's a Furby, a creepy kids toy up top, we're thinking of scrapping it actually-
Alastor: Oh? Then maybe I can take them off your hands.
Time skip to a few months later, Alastor and Vox are having another battle (duet) when Alastor manifests a new instrument Vox has never seen him play before made up of-
Oh no. no. no. nononono. NO.
A fucking Furby Organ!?

yeah no the agent orange thing is actually wild - my grandpa was drafted to vietnam and was exposed to it, which gave him health problems later in life that he ended up passing away from BUT the military insisted that he hadn't been exposed for a full ten years after he passed until they finally admitted a few months ago that yeah actually he had been exposed and our family was supposed to have been receiving financial compensation this whole time but they just. hadn't done that
and that's the way the US government treated an actual american who was exposed - it's so so much worse from the vietnamese perspective
yeah im reading the wikipedia article and it says
the Vietnamese Red Cross estimates that up to one million people were disabled or have health problems as a result of exposure to Agent Orange. The United States government has described these figures as unreliable, while documenting cases of leukemia, Hodgkin's lymphoma, and various kinds of cancer in exposed U.S. military veterans.
which, considering how very very neutral wikipedia tries to be, reads like a loud blaring "THEY WERE LYING THROUGH THEIR TEETH"
also tho the part that gets me is like. i never knew about "herbicidal warfare" in general, that's....so evil. like, we were not even just using this weapon on soldiers (which would already be fucked up), we were trying to destroy the entire country itself? the land and animals and plants so even those who werent exposed are starving and destabilized??? just indiscriminately raining down death over vast swathes of land? what the FUCK.
that...genuinely sounds as bad as hiroshima and nagasaki to me, morally speaking. just...slower.

10am and on. Multiple factors, single results. Building temporary tooling to shape vast loads of input, considering needles and haystacks again. And falling for the temptation to dig into technology all too deep, losing track of time and priorities that way. Focus as an ever-present, unmatched challenge.

since 2016 canada has had an expanding program of "medical assistance in dying" (MAiD) which is essentially euthanasia. this was foreseen by disability activists to be a disastrous policy, and that is what it has turned out to be. there are numerous reports of MAiD being suggested or prescribed under coercive conditions. euthanasia policies disproportionately target poor, disabled, both (since there is a huge overlap), and by the same tokens, racialized ppl, because it is very often coercive economic forces that drive people to make these decisions.
it should not be surprising that when "euthanasia" of people is implemented in policy, it will find its uses wherever it is most useful to hegemony. solving poverty is more expensive than prescribing MAiD to poor people; building and maintaining the infrastruture to support disability is more expensive than mentioning that MAiD is an option; dismantling the institutions that wield power is so much less convenient than telling a patient, who has to pick from the least bad options you give them, that they have a legal out. this is not the right hill.

No matter what you hear people say about electric dreams 1984 on Tumblr or the fanart you see it does not compare to watching the actual movie and the emotions it will make u feel. The fanart did make me want to watch it but getting to watch it was an Experience

Having sensory issues that you haven't quite registered as proper, real and VALID issues yet can be real interesting. For example;
Me, overwhelmed and fuming with rage and anxiety: How can I fuckity fuck make this better?
*remembers that sunlight and seeing what's outside can make people feel less claustrophobic ergo lowering anxiety*
*forgets that bright lights and colors are a sensory FUCK NO when overwhelmed*
*partially opens the window shutters*
Tumblr media
*closes the window shutters*

do you think you'll have an art tag at some point?
tbh I just don't think that's necessary for this blog? bc this is basically an art blog lol I post practically nothing here but art. if it'd help people navigate then absolutely I'll conjure up something! but for my own organizational stuff it's fine I don't really see the need for it

3pm and on. Clueless error handling, be like: Exchanging smaller subsystems, step by step, until behaviour changes to the better. (So far, it won't.) With things reasonably complex, one ends up in unchartered territory just way too soon. Here be digital dragons. And no model as a guiding light.
