oh, the sinking feeling in my chest when (approximately) this was revealed to be the thumbnail. i figured that, if Riya changed her mind and decided that she actually liked Alec, that would have been a spoiler to conceal, so this was going to be manipulation of some sort. before anyone comments on it, i just want to say that i don't think this was assault on Riya's part-- it was a shitty thing to do to both Connor and Alec, but i don't think Alec was necessarily non-consenting. still, i have a hard time seeing how Alec and Riya are supposed to cut it as a non-toxic canon ship after this. RIP Connor.

sharing a comment that @venus-is-thinking had: given that Alec answered the question about loving his son thinking that the answer was "yes" but the helmet could tell that the answer was really "no," it seems like these helmets are more about determining the truth rather than sharing what the wearer thinks is the truth. Riya even fails to fake the machine later, implying that her acting is NOT good enough to fool the helmets. thus, Riya may have actually wanted to befriend Ally for real, and is lying to herself about how she feels. food for thought!

so they DID actually go on dates after s2 ended. does Riya's answer to this question suggest that conriya(?) is back on? i really don't know if that's good for either of them.

this is kind of a slay alliance ngl. i love Grett's villainous tendencies so much. (well, at least when it comes to strategizing-- not bullying Gabby)

so, as i've been alluding to throughout these thoughts, this doesn't... super make sense to me? like, after Grett directly told Alec that she doesn't trust him or Riya anymore, and extended the idol to Connor and Jake as a sign of trust, she decides to backstab the heroes anyway and continue working with Alec and Riya? Venus explained to me that if Grett joined the villains alliance with Aiden still in the game she just would've been on the bottom of that alliance (and thus locked out of f3 probably), and that she'll be in enough of a power position that it doesn't matter if others are bitter towards her now, but idk. given that Connor has the idol and she knows it, i feel like i'd be afraid that everyone would just unite against me next episode. anyways, goodbye Aiden-- finally voted out after, what, 27 episodes played? a true all star, but one who pretty clearly wasn't going to last forever.

Aiden was so funny for this. i love their friendship of continuously roasting each other. it's what we wanted and deserved.

overall, this was a GREAT episode for Grett's winner cut.

i definitely enjoyed this episode much more than i did the last. we had a really good challenge this time around! i love challenges that also give us information as to how the contestants feel about each other. i'm also glad that we've officially dissolved the heroes and villains thing, simply having three pairs of Alec/Riya, Jake/Connor, and Ally/Grett. i'm sure that'll make for a spicy elimination next episode, especially with an idol in play. we're really at 50% finalist now... i can't wait to see who makes it!

ahh thanks for the ask!!! out of everyone i literally just care for gabellie and jaiden. jaiden were done so well (probably because ONC have a. thing. for mlm romance) and even though gabellie did not have the perfect execution, oh man do i miss them.

i also used to really like tomjake. like, a lot. i found the show back when season 1 was still airing, i think episode 8 had just come out, and i was rooting for these two like crazy. ellie splitting them apart made me dislike her but ultimately, after seeing them continue to bitch and moan long after ellie did her thing, i realized it was a them problem, not a her problem.

conriya is an age gap ship i never understood why we were going for since they always had zero chemistry, in season 2 i saw it as connor just being his genuine kind self; grul is. grul. huntally is so boring and everything could have been fixed if huntessally happened LIKE IT WAS SET UP!!!!!! vut just as vivziepop cannot confirm an aro character neither can ONC poly ones. because its too risky to step out of the amatonormative norm, so they just stick to gays, lesbians and bisexuals. whom like obviously could use the rep but atp im happy ONC covered neither aro or poly people because they do a horrible job with the aforementioned already.

wishley happened off-screen for the sake of wishley fans being satisfied, they’re the forced token straight couple, why would i care for them?

trevek is... a mess. i used to say i shipped them to blend in with other fans but i really never cared for them. i’ve always thought derek treated trevor like shit and saw no appeal for this ship. i am so mad at ONC for making it canon because it’s so obviously just fan service, there is no canon reason for trevor to like derek, it’s just shoved in our faces because hey!! remember them!! background characters can’t have a meaningful story without romance right!! let’s make trevor pine!! and it’s so annoying because he was such a lovely character outside of derek. but now he’s just jake 2.0 and i am so afraid that krystrevek will just become tomjakeden 2.0 because god forbid we don’t have a forced mlm love triangle. everyone loves that right!!!!! right!!!!!!!!!!!

if i say i ship anything else besides gabellie or jaiden especially ships i am actively hating here,, i have either rewritten them really well in my head or gone crazy. and given that i hc half the cast as arospec either option is possible.

i’ve been tempted lately to start a commentary youtube channel (funky frog bait, danny gonzalez, kurtis conner, chad chad type of thing yk) and i have so many (negative) video ideas about disventure camp. i would be too powerful for the small screens. and so i remain here

DCAS episode 15 - review

spoilers!!! (duh.)

i'm surprised with how much jakeden nation both won and lost tonight, but before we get into that...

oh my god alec never liked riya. do you guys understand how big this is for me. HE NEVER LIKED HER!!! this is such a good moment for his character i'm so happy they made this choice! alec's just fucked up and can't communicate and is not the best person. he just feels lonely without a romantic partner. this is so real of him he's so aroace-coded but i was half expecting him to say he liked connor HAHA

while jake was not his best self this episode, for example making the question about hunter which was sooo low omfg,,, i 110% think he acted better than ally

i don't get why the DSVC universe treats lie detectors as this ultimate being and not just.. some faulty machine

DCAS episode 17 - review

spoilers!! (but you knew that.)

i could’ve been writing poolverine fic to spend my time in a more rewarding way than watching this show but oh well we’re here now (read my new poolverine fic here btw they make me sick)

of course it had to be grett. with basically zero build-up, they have yet again eliminated a strong, powerful female character to let a boring romantic relationship with so much miscommunication get screentime instead. they fucked ellie over for the sake of tomjake and now they did it to grett for the sake of conriya.

it makes me actually sick how much ONC does not care for their characters. they’re such fucking sell-outs. i get creating characters just to make them fuck or die but for god’s sake you’re writing a show with thousands of fans. at least pretend to give them something. throw us a bone ffs

if it’s not evident by now, i think this episode was horrendously average. i would tear it down for being out of character, but what pisses me off is that it’s not. connor reverting back to his old self is not ooc, that’s for sure.

i’ll give them this, it was refreshing to not see the children jake and ally fight every ten seconds. good to see them working together, i guess.

riya winning by riding spirit was stupid. the rules were laid out in a way that i thought she would have to cross the line with bojack. and then it’s just like. nah it’s any horse actually. who cares. go wild.

riya winning in general was stupid. they forced a forgive-and-betray arc on her in the last second because they didn’t want to let her go and fuck that drives me crazy.

as the last gen 1 standing, i think it’s safe to assume jake will be in the finale. alongside him will probably be connor, because they wouldn’t pull that entire ambulance thing if he wouldn’t make it to the end, and riya, because connor has to defeat the big bad. or something. idrk what he has to do actually because one minute he’s over riya and the next his tongue is down her throat. i’m sick /neg

i miss when this show was actually good and actually cared for its characters. come back to me S1 ellie. come back to me S2 ally. come back to me S2 connor with no screentime to be fucked over by. come back to me actually good DSVC episode. come back

i’m only giving it this high of a rating because it’s in-character for all the stupid shit to happen, and as much as i hate to admit it, that shot with riya seeing herself surrounded by cameras and forcing herself to pretend was great. too bad she wasn’t in a better show with better writing and better lines and better voice acting to actually make that scene work. 5/10

ally finally got an arc and she’s just some corny recycled version of riya. seriously how does this grown woman spend her almost entire screentime fighting with jake like a pathetic elementary schooler.

her lines are so corny like omfg get off your high horse. i used to pray to like her bc i never saw the hype and i guess i now know why

jake was ok this episode, theyre still not backtracking on his development which makes me super hopeful for his future

grett absolutely carried this episode. her and jake are definitely my top choices for the top 2

hearing kristal hype up & seeing grown ass adults panic over a 12-piece puzzle was absolutely hilarious. like. oh my god connor you cannot be this stupid

i knew alec’s days were numbered as soon as he was made into a whiny bitch (jake 3.0 because jake 2.0 is connor) aaand this did not surprise me sadly. tbh the first info i got on the episode was his elim so i was kinda sad but at the same time they ruined him a bit this season so it was for the best

they tied up his loose ends okay. he dropped riya and apologized to connor. i know i hc him as aroace but he seriously is making it so hard. he’s so pathetic (/pos) around connor like. i know what you are you bi-alligned aroace

the idol play was so fun and clever yaya

alec’s exit was so awkwardly edited i think he’s the first character to not get like 🤔 a close-up or someone leading them to the bus. “thank you connor” *awkwardly standing* “for what?” “for everything” *awkward transition* like omfg he deserved so much better

it’s a forgettable episode except for maybe the idol strategy which was pretty fun 🤷🏼 as i mentioned i think grett and jake are making finale and i could see connor winning atp. with alec gone idk how riya will manage with grett having connor jake AND ally close to her. so my choice for next boot is her. it’s a doozy to say who could go next but probs ally. ONC doesn’t like her enough to give her a good and long arc
