✨Wedding/Honeymoon Headcanons ✨

Modern!AU Ebenezer/Constance

-Their wedding is grand, but the guest list is small. Friends and family only. Extra security is hired to make sure no paparazzi sneak inside and spoil ANYTHING ABOUT THE DAY.

-This is Constance’s second wedding, and Eb’s first. As a result, she is EXTRA INSISTENT upon Ebenezer being honest about wants and desires. “What would you like for flowers? How about colors? Venue? Music?”

-Connie’s dress had a golden-ish hue to it, and she wears her hair down and loose, because that feels best to her. Ebenezer’s suit has golden accents to the buttons and cuffs to match.

-The official wedding color is gold (shocker) and the flowers are lilies, forsythia and sunflowers (au autre shock).

-Ebenezer asks Harry for help, and goes to him with any nervous questions about the ceremony and the day of. Harry, ever a golden retriever of a man, is over-eager and READY to do anything to make sure it's the best day ever! ("Oh, Uncle, have you taken waltz lessons yet? You have? Good! Have you practiced? Good! What about cake? I know an excellent baker! You'll need low-sugar and gluten-free options too! Oh, and don't forget favors! Here, let's make an excel list. Oh, this is so exciting!")

-Bob is more tepid and introverted, and as such, his guidance is more subdued. ("Don't think about how to need to react to every thing. Just ... react. Naturally. Don't try to plan your moves or act a certain way. Just be you, because that who she wants to marry.")

-Prior to the ceremony, Ebenezer is pacing around like a madman. He's excited, but also SO nervous. "I'm not worried about marrying her - I'm worried about being good enough for her. What if she regrets saying 'yes'? Would she?" He knows he's being irrational, but marrying a woman after all these years ... he feels underserving.

-Theresea, Connie's mother, attends the wedding. In fact, she's right in the front row. There is an empty seat beside her, reserved specifically for Connie's deceased father, Arthur.

-Prudence is a very good flower girl, and will get treats later.

-Ebenezer absolutely cries upon seeing her walk down the aisle. Constance tears up too, so both are crying at the altar. Dorks in love.

-Their first kiss turns into about three to four kisses, because neither wants to part ways immediately.

-Their first dance song? "At Last" by Etta James, followed by "Sarai Qui".

-They begin their honeymoon at The Ritz in London. They then will take a train to the English countryside to enjoy some solitude. Then, they'll fly to New York and conclude their stay at The Plaza.

✨HONEYMOON (PG-16)✨

The second the door to the hotel room shuts, they are ON EACH OTHER.

-Their honeymoon is not the first time they've slept together as a couple, so they already know each other's likes and dislikes.

-It is a multi-session night. Their sex starts frantic and needy, but by the third or fourth round, it's slow and passionate lovemaking all-around.

-They share a bath after their lovemaking (probably at about 3 a.m.).

-Constance asks Ebenezer to join her, and considering her past, he's more than willing to join. He parks her right in his lap, helping with shampoo and body conditioner.

-It IS their first time sharing a bath, so they do have some soapy little slip-ups, but both are keen to laugh about it.

-They absolutely have matching silk pajamas. Dorks in love, I tell you!

-They are unaware, but their first daughter, Starla, is essentially conceived this night.

Of course the invitation to the DuPont fundraiser meant Connie would call upon Hazel for a shopping trip. It wasn't exactly a familial bond they shared but it was...something. In many ways, Hazel felt sorry for Constance. Hired to raise two broken teens that didn't need much raising, and also endure the backstabbing world of Brookwood Hills at the same time. Connie tried with all her might to bond with the only other girl in her vicinity but Hazel wasn't at all similar. Even now, browsing through rows of dresses she had a frown on her face which only changed into an awkward smile when her eyes met with Connie's. "Find anything?" she asked, pulling the first dress that seemed appropriate from the hanger just so she seemed engaged. "Is orange too bold?" she laughed, holding it against her. "I do have the nice Chanel dress you gave me, that I wore to one of these things before. I haven't gotten around to..." she paused because she was about to admit that she donated most things. Considerations and meditations on what we actually know from canon under the cut:

My considerations: Gally tells Clarence that they should have "set their faces against sisters at the start", which implies that they're two of the eldest siblings, if not THE oldest, rather than several sisters preceding Clarence, the eldest son. And every sister with children seems to have had them around the same time, meaning a minimal amount of time probably passed between each sister's birth.

Hermione feels like an older sister to me; Diana must be close in age to Galahad since he remembers her being sought after when he was a young man; he also remembers Julia and Constance being supervised by governesses at a time when he was running around London with Julia's future husband. (Connie attended Roedean, per A Pelican At Blandings, so presumably her younger sisters received formal education as well, starting at 11, but they would have returned to governesses for the holidays.) I noticed that George is a repeating name in the family tree (the current Bosham and his son) and thought that Georgiana might have been the youngest, after several attempts to have a final son who could be named George. (Possibly the previous Lord Emsworth's name?)

All we know from canon is that:

Clarence is older than Galahad, who is older than Constance, who is older than Julia but not by much (Crime Wave; Heavy Weather). Clarence is also older than Hermione (Full Moon).

Also, Galahad is 56-57 except when he changes in a later book to his early 50s. Clarence winds up being around 59-60 most of the time but is 76 in the very first book. Connie is mid-40s in Leave it to Psmith, so there are *at least* 10 years between her and Clarence, except that she has memories of him and Galahad as children, and they're said to have shared a nursery where she once slapped Clarence upside the head and he was sister-pecked by her specifically from earliest boyhood.

But she's absolutely still in her 40s, because she's of an age with her sisters, seven of whom have children in their 20s. Also sometimes she's the same age as the Duke of Dunstable, who is explicitly Clarence and Uncle Fred's age, which is 60+. And their romance was 20 years ago (the same time Clarence's wife died), so she was in her mid-20s, and he was 40 and still unmarried as a future Duke, and she's still fond of him now, except when she forgets that and thinks she's always found him very annoying. That one is the book set in 1926, where we learn that she's a longtime close friend of James Schoonmaker, whom she'd never met before as of Summer Lightning, which is set in 1923, but also his name was John back then so who knows. And in 1926 she's known the Duke for "some 40 years", ever since he went around wearing Little Lord Fauntleroy suits, which was an odd habit given that he was previously said to be 60, which would make him 20 back then.

OH and she went to Roedean, which is one of Wodehouse's standard schools for female characters... except that Connie is much older than most of them. Roedean didn't exist by that name until 1898, when she would be in her 20s according to Leave it to Psmith, and it would have had about 10 students in the years she was young enough to attend.

So that's all very clear!

Oh, and Beach has been working at the castle for 18 years, no matter what book we're in or how much time has passed.

Eunice Patyk

Eunice Patyk, 85, of Swoyersville, passed away Wednesday evening March 13, 2024 at Geisinger Wyoming Valley, surrounded by her three loving granddaughters. Eunice was born on October 13, 1938 to parents Francis Urban and Constance (Kamus) Urban.

Eunice attended Saint John’s parochial school in Luzerne and later graduated from Swoyersville High School with the class of 1956. She was a member of Holy Family Parish. After High School, Eunice married Gerald Patyk, a U.S. Navy veteran; together they had one daughter, Susan. Eunice, a dedicated employee for Joseph P. Gilroy, worked 26 years as a secretary before retiring in 2002.

Eunice was a loving, giving, and present Nana always ensuring she knew how “her girls” were doing no matter how old they became. Eunice would like to thank all the wonderful people who were an important part of her life. She wishes not to make anyone sad with her passing, but instead, she wants all who were there in her life over the years to know that you were a blessing!

In addition to her parents, Eunice is preceded in death by her devoted husband of 50 years, Gerry, who passed away on January 6, 2013; her only daughter Susan who passed away on May 8, 2004; her beloved sister, Joan John and loving niece, Connie John.

Surviving Eunice are her three granddaughters Constance, Katy and Maria-Villano, son-in-law James Villano, great granddaughters, Nora Susan, and Adeline Elizabeth; brother, Frank and sister-in-law Joan; niece, Amy Kehner hand her husband, Kevin Kehner, and great niece and nephew Grace and Adam; and her very special companion “Dewey” the cat.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 AM on Friday, March 22, 2024 at Holy Family Parish, 574 Bennett St., Luzerne. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Hughes B. Hughes & Son, Inc. Funeral Home, Forty Fort.

Family and friends are invited to call at the church from 9 AM until 10 AM.

Memorial donations can be made to the A.S.P.C.A. in Wilkes-Barre.

There was a light knock on the door... it resonated through the now silent room.

Thea answered it and I glanced over to find a short red-headed girl come in.

She looked around my age, maybe older... her hazel eyes glanced around as she surveyed the room, before going to Mr. Heath.

"Yes, Sir?"

“Aww, Tamitha. Thank you for coming, so quickly,” Head Elder said nodding to her.

"Sure thing."

Mr. Heath turned to us, waving his hand, in Tamitha’s direction.

“This is Tamitha Fraser, she will be the one in charge of you all. She is one of my trusted students and now is one of the Captains of I Division. So you are to listen to her and do as she says at all time.”

“You can’t be serious. I’m not taking orders from a weirdo like her,” Constance protested, glaring at Tamitha.

“Oh, Connie. I didn’t even notice you here,” there was a slight Scottish Burr to her accent.

The girl ran over to Constance and pulled her into a gigantic hug.

Constance struggled with a whining complaint.

“Let go, Creep.”

“Oh... It’s just like old times. Right?” Tamitha sighed contently as she nuzzled her cheek against Constance.

“Grrrr...” she growled, rolling her eyes in irritation, as she gave up the fighting Tamitha.

“That’s great that you two know each other already. Tamitha, the other two in the corner will be the rest of your trainees.”

Tabitha moved her head slight, still nuzzled up against Constance’s and looked over at us.

“Oooooh?” her eyes met mine, for a brief second, then to my mate's.

“That’s cool. I look forwards to it,” she said, smiling.

“We’re going where?” Constance exclaimed.

I stood next to her as we both stared at Tamitha in shock. 

We were standing in front the Head Elders private jet.

“Cairngorm. I have a place up there and my partner is up there waiting to assist in training you,” she glanced over at my mate who stood silently, in silver laced restraints around his wrist, hands and feet.

I had strongly opposed of them cuffing him with silver but no one would listen, they just said that it was necessary and temporary till we reached our destination so I forced them to put gloves on him at least.

I sighed as I turned back towards Tamitha.

“Cairngorm?” I asked in question.

“Is that far?”

“Not that far... so let’s get going,” she said, skipping up the jets steps.

Constance turned to me with wide eyes.

“Cairngorm?” I asked in confusion.

“Cairngorm,” she shrugged.  

I reached over and took my mates arm only to have him yank away and walked up to the jets stoically.

I pushed down the hurt that was squeezing my heart and followed after him.

This was going to be the longest training of my life.

“What do you mean, he’s being sent to the I-Division?” Avery exclaimed, his voice was heard though out the entire house making all present flinch.  

“It was Heath’s punishment for Connor breaking his mate out of his confinement,” I reached out and brushed my hand down his arm.

He shrugged me off and began to pace, growling low in his chest.

“We’re talking about the I-Division. It’s not an easy place to be, Caleb,” his brown eyes were rapidly changing, glowing with a familiar tint of blue.

“I know that but what can we do about it? What Heath says, goes,” I slapped my arm down to my side in exasperation.

“No. I refuse to have my son go through the dangers this division brings. James is a part of it and you know from firsthand experience the risks he goes though.”

“He’s a werewolf, Avery. He’s going to go through danger, where ever he goes. It could be hunters, rogues or just a fight with a pack member over something stupid.”

I stepped up to him and grabbed his arms so he could look at me.

“I don’t want him to go but at least he’ll have the training he needs to survive. And he has a mate now... I doubt that this guy is going to let our son out of his sight. From what I’ve seen, he can protect him.”

I had to swallow past the lump lodged in my throat.

He scoffed narrowing his fully blue eyes at me now.

“The same mentally unstable guy, that got our son caught in the cross fire, of his crazy fight,” he retorted shaking his head in protest.

I sighed.

"No," he continued.

“I won’t let this guy near Connor. He was locked away from what you’ve told me because he’s dangerous to the people around him. What makes you think our son in safe?”

“Because they are mates, Avery.”

“You had a mate too, Caleb and you know what she did to you. So don’t tell me that just because they're mates means there’s no way of Connor getting hurt or this guy losing it one day.”

He pushed away from me and began pacing again.

I snarled in frustration marching in his way.

“That was a rare case and you know it. This is a true mating, not some mistake. And yes, Connor was caught in the fight but by some miracle he wasn’t hurt... not a scratch on him where there should have been. Anyway... I don’t even know why we’re fight about this. If you have to argue to someone I suggest you talk with the Head Elder because I’ve tried and there is no changing that man’s mind, once it’s made.”

With that I walked out and slammed the door behind me.

I sagged back, sighing I closed my head and tilted it back against the door.

I didn’t want my son to go to the I-Division but there was nothing I could do.

I tried to convince Heath to rethink but to no avail.

I only hoped after all this, Connor comes home in one piece and happy.

The sound of something smashing and a thunderous growl caught my attention and I sighed again.

Now I’m left to deal with that.

“Excuse me, Alpha Caleb?”

I glanced up.

"Yeah?"

ABOUT:

Connie was born and raised in Center Hill but always had her eyes on the vast Atlanta horizon, wishing and determined all at once for a better life.

College was out of the equation and Constance found herself in a juggle of minimum wage jobs until she struck gold, literally, in her 20s.

She was hired for a live in nanny role by Benjamin St. James only to find the children she was hired to watch over were actually teens. She didn't know the first thing about nurturing teenagers, but getting to live in Brookwood Hills was enough of a prize.

Slowly, she was able to morph into the perfect Stepford Wife and it paid off when she and Ben grew from a professional relationship to romantic.

She had to hide her Center Hill roots quite rapidly, slowly befriending the neighbors and adapting her life to Brookwood Hills. It was like another world, but one she had always wanted to be a part of.

Being Ben St. James' arm candy was all fun and games but his party lifestyle and wandering eye drove her crazy. She put up with it simply because of the life he could give her. She also had her own fun on the side, i.e tennis coaches and yoga instructors.

Finally, if not a little too late, Benjamin popped the big question and Constance would have been an idiot if she said no. However, the insulting pre-nup has caused a big pause in their plans.

Constance was elected on the city council by Center Hill, since she speaks for them and has spun the story that the lifestyle she lives in now is all from hard work. She also does fight passionately for changes in the neighborhood.

Also, due to being bitter about the pre-nup, Constance is tempted to start proposing legislation that would make Benjamin's life hell.
