i keep getting SO EXCITED about reading. like ive been slowly increasing how much i read for a while now but these past two years ive getting increasingly pumped about grabbing books i feel like i rediscovered some childlike joy i didn't realise i'd forgotten. i think it's a bit to do with having an ereader which allows me to read things i pirate when im not on the computer, having a two hour long commute, which means i get a lot more time to read, getting into annotating books which makes it very exciting for me (i love colors and writing down thoughts and i feel like i am remaking the book a little!) and finishing university which means i dont feel guilty all the time for reading fiction and not the thousands upon thousands required pages of historiography (now i can pick my own historiography to read!!! bought Rediker's Villains of All Nations which ive been meaning to get to for AGES also since im starting to work on my thesis i get to finally read FOR university things that interest ME specifically aka religious history of ancient mesopotamia instead of like economic/legal history of early contemporary spain. god bless.)

CNN — As visually impaired Spanish runner Elena Congost approached the finish line in the women’s T12 marathon on the final day of the Paralympics, she and her guide, Mia Carol, began to discuss the bronze medal they were about to win.

Having run for three hours, Congost and Carol were a good three minutes ahead of Japan’s fourth-placed Misato Michishita and her guide. So comfortable was their lead that, with Carol cramping up, Congost agreed to slow down.

But just 10 yards away from the finish line, Carol stumbled. Congost helped him, briefly letting go of the tether – which blind and visually impaired runners use so that their guide can keep them on the right track – to stop Carol from falling to the ground.

With Carol running steadily again, he and Congost crossed the finish line to claim the bronze medal – or so they thought. Shortly after, organizers ruled that Congost was disqualified from the race for letting go of the tether to help her guide.

Rule 7.9.3 of the World Para Athletic Rules and Regulations states: “The athlete and their accompanying guide-runner shall retain the tether attachment from the start of the race until the end of the race” and that “No release shall be allowed until after the athlete and their accompanying guide-runner have both reached the vertical plane of the nearer edge of the finish line and finished the race.”

Day 42 – A Glimpse into the Past at Fet This morning, we ventured to the ancient ghost village of Fet, perched on a rocky ledge with a sweeping view over the Canelles Reservoir. Once home to around 300 people, Fet was established in the 10th century and thrived until the 1950s when a dam flooded the fertile valley below, leading to the village’s abandonment. Now, nature is slowly reclaiming this stone settlement. From the ruins of the old church, we gazed over the serene reservoir, framed by rugged landscapes, and to the north, the dramatic cliffs of Congost de Mont-Rebei—a paradise for hikers.

After exploring the ghost villages, we headed further into the Pyrenees. With rain in the forecast, we set out to find a peaceful lakeside spot to camp and caught our first glimpse of the towering Pyrenean peaks, still capped with snow in the distance. It was warm when we arrived, just right for a refreshing swim in the lake.

As dusk approached, we heard a vehicle and soon saw an elderly couple pull up in their 40-year-old Defender. They turned out to be seasoned overlanders, who had been visiting this lake for years. Quizás lo has vivido con alguien cercano. Hay discusiones en las que nunca se llegan a un acuerdo porque ninguna de las partes desea dar el brazo a torcer. Todo termina en un incómodo silencio y del silencio se desestima a la persona por horas o días.

Quizás han existido ocasiones en que deseas hacer las paces, pero el muro que levanta la otra persona es tan fuerte y tan alto que derribarlo puede desgastarte todavía más. ¿Qué opinas de esa actitud? ¿Crees que se debería seguir aceptando o permitiendo como algo normal o como un "esperaré a que se le pase"?

Si has sido quien decide ignorar por días, ¿cuál es el criterio que te lleva hacer eso? Si has sido quien desea hacer las paces, ¿cómo manejas la situación si la otra persona te ignora?

Y por último, ¿cuál es la mejor solución cuando ocurre tales discusiones en la que ninguno dará el brazo a torcer?
