Revamp Your Home's Entrance with Top Driveway Companies in Salisbury and New Driveways in Hampshire
Tumblr media
The first impression of a home starts right at the entrance, and nothing enhances that impression more than a well-designed and meticulously crafted driveway. Whether you're looking to replace your existing driveway or create a brand-new one, the choices you make will significantly impact your home's curb appeal and overall aesthetic. If you're in the Salisbury area, you're in luck – there are some fantastic driveway companies ready to transform your vision into reality. Additionally, neighboring Hampshire offers a range of options for those seeking new driveways.
The Essence of a Stunning Driveway
A driveway isn't just a path for your car; it's a canvas that can express your style and elevate the entire look of your property. With a plethora of materials, designs, and techniques available, the possibilities are virtually endless. Whether you're going for a classic and refined look or a modern and sleek design, professional driveway companies in Salisbury and Hampshire can cater to your desires.
Driveway Companies in Salisbury: Paving the Way to Excellence
Salisbury boasts a selection of experienced and reputable driveway companies that can help you transform your driveway dreams into reality. These companies offer a range of services, from initial design consultation to material selection, installation, and finishing touches. When choosing a driveway company, consider factors such as their portfolio, customer reviews, and experience. Reputable companies often showcase their previous work, giving you a glimpse of the quality you can expect.
Materials that Matter
One of the most critical decisions you'll make when creating a new driveway is choosing the right materials. The choice of material not only affects the aesthetics but also the durability and maintenance requirements of your driveway. Common materials used for driveways include:
Asphalt: Known for its affordability and durability, asphalt driveways offer a smooth and sleek finish that complements various architectural styles.
Concrete: Versatile and available in a range of finishes, concrete driveways provide a clean and modern look. They can be stamped or stained to mimic more expensive materials like stone or brick.
Gravel: If you're aiming for a rustic or country-style vibe, gravel driveways can offer a charming and cost-effective solution. Regular maintenance is required to prevent displacement of gravel.
Pavers: Interlocking concrete pavers come in various shapes, colors, and patterns, allowing for creative designs that can match your home's aesthetics perfectly.
Natural Stone: For a high-end and luxurious appearance, natural stone driveways, such as granite, cobblestone, or slate, can make a lasting impression.
New Driveways in Hampshire: Paving Possibilities
If you're located in Hampshire or the surrounding areas, you're in for a treat as well. Hampshire offers a wide range of options for those seeking new driveways. From picturesque rural landscapes to suburban neighborhoods, the choice of driveway materials and styles can be tailored to match the ambiance of your area.
Considerations Beyond Aesthetics
While aesthetics play a crucial role, don't forget to consider practical factors when designing your new driveway. Factors such as the slope of your property, drainage requirements, and local regulations need to be taken into account. A well-designed driveway not only enhances the appearance of your home but also provides functionality and convenience.
Conclusion
Your home's entrance sets the stage for what's inside, and a thoughtfully designed driveway can greatly enhance that experience. In Salisbury and Hampshire, a range of skilled driveway companies are ready to collaborate with you to create a driveway that aligns with your vision while considering the practical aspects. Whether you're leaning towards a traditional look or a contemporary design, the journey towards a new driveway is an opportunity to express your style and increase your home's overall value. So, explore the possibilities, consult with professionals, and embark on the path to a stunning new driveway.

The global concrete restoration market size is estimated to be USD 15.0 billion in 2021 and is projected to reach USD 20.4 billion by 2026, at a CAGR of 6.2%. The high growth of concrete restoration can be attributed to the growing number of construction repair projects globally due to the rising population, rapid urbanization, and increased economic growth in some regions. Emerging markets like China, the UAE, and India are showing remarkable growth due to the aforementioned factors. This has been a decisive factor in theconcrete restoration market growth, especially in regions like North America and Europe, where concrete restoration products' usage is relatively high. By 2026, many new companies will emerge from China, having low-cost concrete restoration products and, thus, offer heavy competition to the existing market players.
Based on material type, the concrete restoration market is segmented into shotcrete, quick setting cement mortar, concrete fiber, and others. Quick setting cement mortar dominated the concrete restoration market in terms of value. This market is divided into water & wastewater treatment, dams & reservoirs, roads, highways & bridges, marine, buildings & balconies, and others based on target applications. Roads, highways & bridges dominated the concrete restoration market in terms of value.
Based on target application, the marine application is projected to register the highest CAGR, in terms of value, during the forecast period. The concrete used in the marine industry is exposed to numerous harsh conditions, including physical and chemical attacks. The projected growth shows that most target applications will grow at a high CAGR from 2021–2026, overcoming the adverse effects of global lockdowns and economic standstill caused by the COVID–19 pandemic.
The Asia Pacific is expected to witness the highest growth at a CAGR of 7.2% between 2021 and 2026. The increasing economic growth and rapid increase in population are expected to boost the concrete restoration market in this region significantly. In terms of value, Europe is the second-largest market for concrete restoration worldwide and is projected to witness a CAGR of 5.9% during the forecast period
Major players such as Sika (Switzerland), Mapei S.p.A (Italy), Master Builders Solutions (Germany), Fosroc (UAE), BASF SE (Germany), Pidilite Industries (India), RPM International (US), Fyfe (US), Saint-Gobain Weber S.A. (France), and The Euclid Chemical Company (UK), among others, have framed their strategies to penetrate and create bases in the emerging markets.

hello lovely, saw you reblogged this post https://www.tumblr.com/sitp-recs/758533437376315392 i love the "oh oh i'm in love" trope but i never read the kinky oh oh, do you have any recs? any ship, any trope :D sending love!! x
Hello friend! I definitely have recs for that trope 😌
Drarry:
Arms and Elbows by @sorrybutblog (E, 3k)
Or: Draco likes to pick up guys and fist them. Harry is his roommate, but that doesn't mean he should get left out of the fun.
Lucid by @dracoladon (E, 4.4k)
Harry's not sure what makes him harder; listening to Draco talk about astronomy, or shagging Draco so thoroughly that he can't talk at all. Both, probably.
Sports Star by @moonflower-rose (E, 4.8k)
Life as a professional Quidditch player involves a strict routine, and more hydration than Harry could have imagined. He's happy to follow the rules, but he does keep one little strategy to himself, his secret to success on the pitch. Unfortunately, that secret is about to be exposed to Draco Malfoy.
Float by @shiftylinguini (E, 5k)
After a night out, Harry wakes up feeling like he slept on concrete, like his body's made of sand, like he accidentally pissed on his housemate the night before. Because he did accidentally piss on his housemate the night before.
Like This and Like This (Dreams of Lace) by @primavera-cerezos (E, 6.6k)
Harry gets an accidental peek. He can’t think of anything else.
Aletheia by @lazywonderlvnd (E, 8k)
Draco finds out Daphne's been shagging Potter and it turns out it's really not that difficult to get a piece of her hair.
Aural Gratification by birdsofshore (E, 11k)
Harry's not gay – he just likes listening to exciting stories about Aurors. It's not his fault that the narrator's voice is so smooth, so expressive... and really rather hot.
Shining, Like A Present by @bixgirl1 (E, 13k)
The discovery of a small silver box at the site of a case opens up new possibilities.
Wicked Game by Cassiopeias_shadow (E, 21k)
Harry and Draco fall into a spring that allows them to enter into each other’s dreams - but Harry doesn’t quite understand what’s happening, not at first. Why does he keep seeing Draco having kinky sex with a dream version of Harry? And furthermore, why does he like it?
Dirty Little Secret by @writcraft (E, 22k)
When someone threatens Harry’s life, Kingsley decides to send him to a safe house with only Draco Malfoy for company. As the two men are forced together, memories of the past resurface and secrets are discovered.
True Children Still by @gracerene (E, 34k)
After years of dancing around each other, Draco and Harry have finally begun to date, though they're taking things slow. They've got enough to figure out as it is, and the last thing Harry needs is an unexpected introduction to desires he's not quite ready to face.
Inside Your Mind by lazywonderlvnd (E, 36k)
Goyle's taken it upon himself to act as Malfoy's personal, one-man guard and Harry can't help but feel like it's only making the bullying worse.
Other ships:
Essential Lessons by @sorrybutblog (E, 2k) - Ron/Hermione
Hermione wakes up with a cock. Ron teaches her how to jerk it.
Skanc Alley by Lokifan (E, 2.6k) - Ron/Draco
Ron wants to roleplay him having rentboy!Draco. Draco doesn’t get it.
Simple As It Is, Complicated As You Need by @lqtraintracks (E, 3.5k) - Harry/Teddy
It's not something they do often, this whole 'Daddy' thing. But to be fair, they don't even have regular sex as often as Teddy would like either. It's not as though they've even admitted they're doing anything. One of the benefits and curses of both of them being Legilimens actually: Nobody ever has to talk.
Sardines by shiftylinguini (E, 4k) - Jeddy + Scorbus
It’s bad enough his cock is hard from listening to the impromptu midnight pornography of his brother getting off; Albus is not going to add seeing it to the list of reasons why he lost his mind, and presumably his eyesight, on the eve of his grandmother's seventieth. Scorpius, though, doesn’t appear to have any such qualms.
Waiting Under Vain by supergrover24 (E, 4.8k) - Harry/Teddy
Teddy wants to know how sex really should be. Harry can't resist, no matter how much he tries.
Use My Last Breath (to say I love you) by @cassiaratheslytherpuff (E, 6k) - Harry/Charlie
Harry loves the way Charlie's hands feel around his neck. He's not sure how to feel about the tiny dragon or the long-distance relationship.
Green Light by iota (E, 6k) - Ginny/Hermione
What if the best way to get over Ron was to get under Ginny?
The Alchemy of Cigarettes by meshkol (E, 11k) - Albus/Draco
Something about seeing Draco smoking makes him want to drop to his knees.
Burned Silk, Buckled Leather by @ruinsplume (E, 12k) - Draco/Sirius
When Sirius discovers a down-and-out Draco Malfoy lurking around the edges of a Muggle kink club, he thinks he knows just what Draco needs. He isn't expecting to run into some long-buried needs of his own.
Team Players by shiftylinguini (E, 15k) - Jeddy + James/Oliver
Everyone has that one celebrity they’d move heaven and earth to get between their legs, and James Potter is no exception. He just never anticipated that number one on his Freebie List would end up in the same room as him, let alone would make the first move. But lucky for James, Teddy is a team player―well, he probably is, especially with what James is suggesting.
it's brutal out here by dracoladon and lazywonderlvnd (E, 25k) - Charlie/Draco
Draco finally meets Charlie Weasley. He's kind of a beast.

Imagine Rubins reaction to being chosen by the reader over the other healers/love interests. Like this poor man thinks so little of himself, so to be someone's first pick? He needs all the love in the world
Ilyyyy i love this idea!! was supposed to have a Haruspex and Andrey parts but... yeah. I decided to post it like this rather than leave it to rot in my drafts
Rubin with a reader who chose him over everyone
[fluff, hurt/comfort, romance, slight crack, petty conflict, jealousy]
[Stanislav Rubin x reader | One-sides Bachelor/Reader] [Gender-neutral Reader]
Tumblr media
Choosing him over the Bachelor
Rubin never saw himself as anyone's first choice.
Not even their second or third either.
He usually imagined himself as the last resort anyone would ever go to.
Both as a doctor and as a person.
The Bachelor's arrival into town more than confirmed this–not that Rubin had any doubt to begin with–people would prefer to consult Dankovsky for medical aid despite him being a literal stranger to the town and its ways.
So why did it sting when Rubin watched as the same families who once entrusted him to treat their children, not spare him a single glance anymore ever since what they described as a "real" doctor arrived into town.
It's okay, he'd tell himself, it's what he's used to. People would seek Isidor before and never offer Rubin any gratitude despite him doing the majority of the work.
He should just be grateful that the Bachelor allowed him to act as his aid. He knows his own medical knowledge is lacking and outdated.
But heavens above, he wasn't dealt a better hand in life.
He is doing the best he can with the choices he was offered.
You were one of the few lights remaining in his life.
The way you'd wait for him outside the theatre-turned-hospital to finish his shift each day and walk him home despite the dangers.
The way you'd scold him for neglecting his health again, insisting he must rest and eat something or else.
It felt strange for him to be shown love.
To have someone care so much that they actually seem upset when he skips meals or only goes to bed when at the verge of collapsing.
Someone who is happy to see him each day, someone who doesn't constantly remind him of his flaws or what he lacks.
But life is too cruel, and his hope was short-lived.
One day, he was finishing his work and clocking out. Walking outside to the grey filled skies, soft droplets making small ripples in the wet streets as they fell down.
Rubin's gaze immediately went to the usual spot where you'd wait for him each time.
Only to not see you there.
Well, not alone; someone else is keeping you company.
The bachelor's coat hanged heavy on your shoulders as Daniil held the umbrella above both of your heads.
Ever the gentleman, he must have offered his coat to you when he saw you outside alone in the rain.
The umbrella was not big enough to cover a large distance, making the two of you stand intimately close.
Bodies almost pressing against one another.
Despair sinking like poison into the pits of Rubin's stomach, refusing to resurface as his limbs felt ten times heavier to move, weighting down his body.
The end of the day exhaustion wasn't helping either, courtesy of always stubbornly taking the longest possible shift in the hospital.
Rubin watched as Daniil's lips moved. He was saying something to you... whispering it like a snake against your ear. Coiling his scaley tail against Rubin's heart and squeezing it painfully tight.
The hand not holding the umbrella went up to hover above your waist, silently asking permission to place it there...
To hold you.
Rubin's legs moved so fast as he made his way across the street to you. The sound of his footsteps splashing against the wet concrete finally made the two of you take notice of his presence.
Maybe the look of desperation on his face gave him away, or maybe it was you mistaking the raindrops going down his face for something else, the growing wetness in his eyes didn't help either.
But the mere sight of him hurrying towards you made you immediately take the bachelor's coat off and hand it back to Daniil.
Leaving the dry safety of the umbrella below and meeting Rubin halfway through the street.
Hugging him amidst the pouring rain, your arms holding him reassuringly tight.
Burying your face into his chest.
His heart skips a beat as he feels your lips curl into a smile against the thin fabric separating you from his bare skin.
Telling him how you were waiting for him, how much you missed him, and wanted to go back to his own place already.
After the moment of confusion on Daniil's face passed, he seemed to understand the implications here as he cleared his throat in embarrassment and walked up to the two of you.
To Rubin's surprise, the Bachelor seemed to take it in stride as he explained how it was him who insisted on you taking his coat to stay warm.
Daniil ended the conversation with a short apology and offered his umbrella for the two of you to borrow as a way to make amends.
Moments ago, this seemed like the end of Rubin's world. The adrenaline from the emotional rush burned hot in his blood.
Yet it... was resolved so easily. You didn't even hesitate before walking to him, Daniil showed him grace and respect rather than disdain.
This kindness, he was not used to.
As if you'd slip away from his fingers one day, as if life will snatch you away the second he turns his back like everything else he has ever loved.
It was a hard pill to swallow, the fact you willingly chose him.
Chose to be with him, not as a last resort nor our of obligation or pity.
Not once or twice, but time and time again you'd choose him.
And each time it would stun him, as if all of the past loyalty and devotion you've shown was a mere fluke, a mistake on your part.
That this time it's the end, this time you'll definitely walk away. This time you'll reciprocate Andrey flirting or accept Eva's invite to spend the night.
This time... definitely this time you will shatter his heart.
Because that's what life taught him.
One day you must wake up and realise his true worth. See him as the lowly creature he stares at in the mirror.
The broken pathetic man he must be in your eyes.
And yet, you'd frown each time he spoke about himself in that town. Act offended on his behalf as if it was you he was insulting.
Ask him directly if he thinks you're that stupid? Why else would he assume you'd ever wake up when you weren't under any spell to begin with.
The truth is, you've always loved him since the start.
Since the moment you met him even.
What started as a puppy crush quickly flourished into deep admiration as you learned more and more about him
In your eyes, Stakh was strong. The kind of strength truly worth of respect.
You've never met anyone as strong as him, and you'll gladly remind him of that each and every single day.
That there is nothing to endure, you'll be with him through thick and thin.
That he isn't missing something, he isn't lesser than anyone in here.
He's whole as he is, worthy of love and kindness.
And day by day, your words echo in his mind.
So much that for a brief second, he can stand staring at the mirror without a pile rising in the back of his throat.
Remembering the praises you'd sing about his lovely brown eyes, akin to pools of honey under the sunlight.
The frown that seemed permanently etched into his features reminded you of the graceful sadness of a willow tree.
The reflection of a crescent moon on a lake's still surface without a single ripple in sight.
Maybe one day, the shackles of the past will have mercy and loosen themselves from around his mind.
But until then, you'll gladly love him enough for both of you. Until then you'll stay by his side, choose him over and over again until he understands you're here to stay.

The Alcott Ch. 2
Chapter 2: right where you left me
jay halstead x f!reader, frank castle x f!reader
tw: lil bit of angst, mentions of murder, descriptions of violence and bodily injuries, blood mention, 3rd person POV (she/ her)
chicago pd x the punisher crossover
(series is ongoing)
She couldn’t let it go. Every fiber of her being begged her to let the whole situation lie, but she couldn’t. Being an investigative reporter by trade she was too curious for her own good. Having gotten a job reporting for a news broadcasting company in downtown Chicago, her first instinct was to write about the incident. However, she knew that by coming to her editors with a story about a murderous vigilante having risen from the dead, she would be fired instantaneously.
Her curiosity ate away at her as the days passed after her encounter with the vigilante. How was he alive? She thought to herself. She had seen firsthand the explosion that was supposed to kill him, and it didn’t seem like someone would have been able to survive it. There was also a body found in the wreckage that matched his descriptors and with that the case had been closed. It had been over a year since then and now suddenly he had resurfaced in Chicago. She had to know why?
She was still stuck, frozen and staring into that dark alley. Her breath hitching at the memory of seeing that flash of his face. The hood he was wearing covered most of his face but the street lamp at the very edge of the alley provided her with a flash of light to his face as he stalked towards her.
She couldn’t forget the way his arms encased her with pressure but not force, it was clear he didn’t want to hurt her in any way. That is what puzzled her the most; how could a serial murderer not want to kill someone?
Unless he wasn’t one.
Looking at his mugshot staring back at her from her computer screen, she only had one thought; who was the real Frank Castle?
————————————————
Frank’s P.O.V
Blow after blow echoed throughout the skeletal body of the building, the unfinished walls causing the sounds of the hammer to bounce between them. His roars did the same. Growling animalistically as he brought the hammer down onto concrete over, and over, and over again.
Working construction was the only way Frank could make a living now that his identity had to be stripped. He was now known as “Pete Castillone” and all he had to the name was a construction job and a one bedroom apartment. After his very timely death on the East Coast, he decided to use his newfound anonymity to his advantage. Traveling the country in search of more of those who were responsible for his family’s murder. However, since coming to Chicago, the life that “Pete” lived was very simple and very quiet. Frank needed that, after everything that had happened he needed the quiet. Although, “quiet” is typically synonymous with “alone”, and that’s NOT what Frank needed and he feared it had become something of a curse for him.
About a week ago, Frank had picked up some chatter about a local Chicago gang having had something to do with a family massacre in New York. Rival gang war had gone national apparently. Frank knew that the cartels in New York City were responsible, however he didn’t know which cartel, or whom within them actually had anything to do with it. However, having tracked down one of the members of the local gang, Frank found his opportunity to get the information he needed with whatever means necessary.
A harsh yell escapes his lips as he brings the sledgehammer down again onto the concrete. With each impact of the hammer he began to relive the other night all over again.
The tire iron in his hand coming down onto the man’s chest, over and over again.
“Who gave the FUCKING ORDER?!” Frank screamed as the man lies silently, gurgling blood from his mouth.
Having come to Chicago with the sole intention of finally avenging his murdered wife, son, and daughter, Frank thought his mission would be simpler than it was turning out to be. The more people he found, the more secrets he uncovered on the true identity of the person who ordered the execution of his family.
As the man laid on the ground, breathing his last breaths, he sighed the name of the person Frank was really looking for: “Agent Orange”.
Frank dissipates back into reality, holding the hammer limply in his fist. Looking around for a second, taking in his surroundings, Frank breathes a deep sigh and takes a seat on the dusty concrete floor. As he continues to relive the other night, his mind then falls on the young woman who had mistakenly stumbled upon the scenario. A pang of guilt runs down Franks spine, she had looked so terrified of him.
Rightfully so, he thinks to himself. His brutality scared even him at times, but seeing that same feeling reflected back at him on such a beautiful face shifted something in him. In a moment of pure inhuman rage, he was reminded of the fragility of the human spirit as he looked up to see her face.
“You’ll kill him!” He remembers her shouting, as if the man wasn’t already dead. He remembers her shaking hands and the gun she clutched for dear life but couldn’t bring herself to fire. It was incredibly courageous when he thought about it, having every opportunity to run and yet she chose to try and protect her fellow man. He knew in that moment he couldn’t hurt her, not that he wanted to, but he’s had to bury secrets in unmarked graves before.
In the split second he had, his mind landed on the only option available to him; neutralize the situation. He towered over her, his frame encompassing hers in an instant, clutching a hand over her mouth to silence her screams.
“Shh, shh, shh,” he quietly coos in her ear, “ain’t gonna hurt ya,” he assured her. Having disarmed her before capturing her in his hold, he didn’t know how to proceed. The threat was minimized and he had gotten her to quiet down, so his only logical choice was to release her.
“I swear to God I won’t hurt ya, but if I let you go, will you scream?” He speaks gruffly in her ear, hand still over her mouth. He remembers how she was shaking against him, he can’t get it out of his head. The way she was repulsed by him, it made him look back on the memory with shame.
When he did let her go a small fist came flying up instantly and landed on the bridge of his nose, breaking it. Clutching his face, he groans and falls back against the brick wall. As he looks up he sees her vanishing into the night, a small glimpse of the blood-covered blouse is the last thing he saw before she was out of sight.
He’s still stuck in that alley holding her shaking, terrified form, hearing her whimpers and seeing the fear in her eyes.
He can’t be anywhere else.
—————————————
Jay’s P.O.V
“Hey there space cadet, which planet are you visiting now?” Jay’s voice comes from behind her, standing in the doorway to her room, watching as she stares blankly out her bedroom window. Turning her head to meet his gaze, her demeanor softens instantly and she gets up to greet him.
“I’m sorry, I didn’t even hear you come in,” she says as her boyfriend pulls her into his strong chest, placing a kiss to her forehead as he cradles the back of her head.
“Hey baby, you doing okay?” He says after a moment of comfortable silence between them. Shifting her face to look up at him, she smiles innocently.
“Yeah, of course, why?” She reassures him, but he knows her too well.
“You just seem… off, ever since the other night,” he says, dipping his head to catch her eyes, trying to break this barrier she had built up over the last several days.
“Jay, I’m fine, I swear. Just preoccupied with this new article I’m writing,” she lies, placing a hand to the side of his face as she brings it down to hers, kissing him deeply. He pulls away, shaking his head slightly and gently cupping her face in his palms.
“I know you better than that, baby. Come on, let me into your golden thinking,” he speaks as he moves a piece of hair from her face.
“Everything’s fine, Jay,” she says flatly, clearly not wanting to let him in.
He sighs as she pushes past him into the hall, pinching the bridge of his nose he takes a deep breath. Something was wrong, he knew it. But she wouldn’t put her shields down long enough for him to see the real issue. Something happened that night to make her this way, a shift was apparent in her behavior and all he wanted was a reason why. The last thing he wanted was for her to shut him out completely, but it seemed that was the first thing she was doing.
Swallowing the lump forming in his throat, he turns and makes his way into the main living space of her tiny apartment. He finds her lost in thought again, just staring blankly into space as she stands in front of the sink. The water continued to run as she stood unmoving, the glass in her hand overflowing with water.
Where was she? He thought, brow knitting together as he watched her disappear into her own mind. All he wanted was for her to come back, to be with him again in the present. But he had a feeling there was an unseen gap between them now, her in a completely different place and him standing right in front of her trying to understand where she’s gone.
Come back, baby, he thinks to himself as he continues to watch her from afar. Come back, I’m right where you left me.

[RECORDING STARTS]
[RECORDER CLICKS ON]
(Sigh)
(The sound of waves can be heard in the background.)
SINCLAIRE:
I... I'm not entirely sure why I've done this.
She told me I didn't have to.
(Pause.)
(Sinclaire inhales)
I'm... My name is Sinclaire. Sinclaire Gossamer. I'm twenty-three years old, and I live alone in a lighthouse. The date is Thursday, April thirteenth, 2017.
(Pause.)
This is dumb. I'm just talking to some lame recorder. Doesn't even have the courtesy to be a tape recorder. At least then it'd have some semblance of ambience. All I have is the echoing lounge room and waves to keep me company. It's cold. I'm cold. I can't imagine how it's going to be when Winter rolls around.
For reference, if I somehow develop early onset Alzheimer's, I'm in the southern hemisphere. That means Winter in June through to August. My lighthouse is off the coast of Te Waipounamu, the southern island of New Zealand.
I'm not from New Zealand. My family's English. Admittedly there's a little guilt in being the descendant of a race known for colonising. I recognise and respect Māori culture, I'm not a raging racist or anything. I just feel bad.
I feel bad all the time.
(Pause.)
I'm rambling. Avoiding the topic.
(chuckle)
(Sinclaire exhales disappointedly.)
Sandra wanted me to do this. Sandra's my therapist. Sandra Sadowsky. She's from Russia, I think, but she doesn't have any accent.
Anyway. She recommended that I journal my thoughts. I thought she was insane. My handwriting is ass and the signal here isn't the best, and I don't have the means for a typewriter. And then she said I could record myself speaking.
I considered it, and... here I am.
You see, I'm not really the best with my... feelings. I never really... I've never been good at my emotions, despite my mother's best efforts. I had a girlfriend once, too, who tried to help with it. She did help. But we ended on bad terms, and since then, I've kind of forgotten all of it. It's a shame, really. But I shouldn't dwell on the past.
So Sandra told me I should journal my thoughts to better understand myself. I don't see the point. I still do all of this thinking, just not out loud into a tape recorder.
It also means I can't do my thinking while I'm out. I don't think I'd look very presentable if I was rambling into an audio recorder on a supply run.
Oh god, I'm picturing it now. Walking through the grocery store, going down the fresh produce aisle, leaning into my jacket and letting my emotions and darkest secrets go free. I'd be in people's minds for /months/. Good lord.
So... yeah, I don't really know why I hit record on this.
But Sandra said it could help. And Sandra's usually right. So I'm humouring her. Maybe there'll be benefits. Who knows, maybe I'll become happy and carefree. Maybe I'll get a proper job and won't have to live in this concrete tower that's always cold and always echoes, no matter how many curtains I buy.
But let's be real.
That's not gonna happen.
Sandra's gonna have my head for that comment. But these recordings are never going to see the light of day. Her loss, I guess. (Chuckle.)
So, let's get things all orderly. I've been seeing Sandra for about three months now. She's been trying to get me to journal for the last three sessions. I started seeing her because some past traumas had resurfaced, and I wasn't all that well. So, she told me I should find a way to process things and come to terms with what happened to me. At first, I was dismissive. I thought that she didn't know anything about me. I've had to realise that she does, in fact, have good ideas.
And you know the rest.
I'm not... I'm not ready? I don't think?
To talk about my... past.
(Pause. Sinclaire inhales)
Sandra doesn't really know about it either. She knows a few details.
But. I don't want to talk about it, really. And I'm not ready to.
So, I guess this is just going to be me rambling and repeating myself until I'm ready enough to talk about it.
...
(There's a long silence. Wind and waves fill the quiet. Sinclaire's breathing is picked up by the recorder.)
SINCLAIRE: I like it here. It's quiet.
(Another long silence. Sinclaire sighs.)
SINCLAIRE: I don't have any friends.
[RECORDER CLICKS OFF]
Beat.
[RECORDER CLICKS ON]
(waves can still be heard.)
SINCLAIRE: Signing off.
[RECORDING ENDS]

Currently listening to Too Human’s dev diary and this spurred me into another long-winded ramble. BE YE READY. (Pictured: Various concept art)
The first (and last haha /cries) game ended on a massive cliff hanger! I want to know what happens next, no matter how awful the fate of the characters will be! This world is good enough that it deserves some closure! I live off the hope that there're bits and pieces of the script somewhere stashed in the storage of one of the former devs and that one day… it will resurface… maybe with even more old concept art too, if I dare dream that far.
Seriously, I would love to see a lot more unearthed artwork for this more than from any other game. In the first dev diary, they showcased a wall filled with prints showing off so much stuff. Some of it I’ve seen floating on the internet, others are concepts of characters that were not featured much such as Frey or Hermod.
What an underwhelming fate this game has! Stuck in a limbo where I can’t even say that it has a cult following, such as Black & White (another game very dear to me that is in a similar situation). Most of the perception of this IP is fairly insular from what I observed, and it saddens me.
There’s nothing similar to Too Human out there! While I can find general ideas and aesthetics in other works, this specific combo of world design, character designs and story is unique to it, at least in my eyes.
There are out there iterations similar to the game’s Loki, Heimdall and Thor. They represent a model that I really like. However, this model being placed within Too Human’s universe satisfies some monster in my brain that craves this exact idea.
The artists who worked on Too Human did a wonderful job at concretizing the bleak yet cautiously hopeful atmosphere that haunts this universe. Among that, they also blended some body horror aspects into it as well and I want to talk a bit about that.
The Aesir are a good example with their cybernetic augments where, even the subtlest prosthetics, still have their own unsettling feeling. That might also come with interesting psychological aspects, too.
Heimdall’s holo glasses come to mind where you can see the thin, golden frames attach to his temples and branch out underneath his skin into what looks like purple veins.
A design that was crafted to be elegant still comes across as off-putting. I imagine he would be used to normal people stealthily gawking at him in meeting settings. One of the least rude behaviours that he could receive so he doesn’t complain much about it. Other, less nice, examples would be people treating him like a computer and chalking up any personal achievement to a simple ‘wave’ of his augments. Maybe ODIN himself would over-load him with duties because his cybernetics, that are rapid-information-processing-based, allow him to bear that. His Aesir colleagues might also often forget that he is his own person and not just an extension of their leader, ODIN.
Even Baldur, canonically described as the least augmented of his colleagues, still looks odd to the fellow human soldiers that he commands. Picture being a rookie wolf trooper just starting out to work under this Aesir. You hear your superiors praise him that at he, out of all the other gods, looks like a normal human person.
Then Baldur goes past you, a towering frame of expensive armor with glowing blue scars criss-crossing his face and weird blue eyes. The rune sword mounted on his back growls at you as its owner went on his business. Yes. That is totally a normal person. You feel so represented.
This disparity of perceptions circles back to the trans-humanist theme prevalent in this game (huhu Too Human title pun huhu). It’s obvious that the writers wanted to do so much more with what they already had in the game, but had to omit a lot. I mostly blame the Epic lawsuit that later on killed both the company and any hopes of a trilogy.

God(s), I’m repeating myself like a broken record, but this is why I’m so in love with this game. I could make up headcanons all day based on the little information that there is out there and it still would fit with the official bit of the story. This could have had a chance for a huge collaborative project that could’ve gone on and on.
AND YET.
He's dead, Jim.
He's gone and died.
He's croaked off.
I'm (not) sure why.
So far I have a dream that one day Denis Dyack, the original creator of the story, will give this a re-bound… one day.
