moving into a new house in ottawa w josh & all the excitement of finally living together and he gets home late one night and is just so heart eyes and giddy that it’s you in his bed forever
there’s this unexplainable feeling that josh feels form in his stomach as he turns down the road that would lead him into the suburbs. the suburbs where he now lived… with you. it still felt almost surreal as the garage door peeled open slowly, revealing your car on taking up space on one side and moving boxes that still needed to be unpacked on the other.
oh yeah, he thinks as he parks, i need to do that in the morning.
in a few hours really considering it was already almost three am and he was fresh off a plane from california. he moves through the house quietly, soaking in all of the decorating you had done in his one week absence and he catches a glimpse of the stupid little grin on his face as he passes a mirror in the hallway. jesus, who was he?
domesticated, his brothers would chime.
there you were in your shared bed, scrolling through your phone when he walks in and he feels his face fall, “you’re still up?”
“you know that i don’t like sleeping until i know you’ve landed,” you voice, switching off your phone and opening up your arms, “kisses so i can sleep.”
“yes ma’am,” he lets his backpack fall to the floor as he strides over, draping himself on top of you before pressing his lips gently to yours, “you went back for those throw pillows, huh?”
“leave me alone, joshua. i literally dreamt about them the first night that you were gone,” you huff, shoving at his shoulder with a pout, “and you can’t say that they don’t look amazing with the couch.”
“when i said that you had full creative direction, i meant it, babe. if you like it, i love it.”
requests are open for soft thoughts weekend!

What to Expect from a Best Central Vacuum Systems Installation in Ottawa
Tumblr media
Vacuuming is a chore, and it is just compounded when you need to haul the machine from room to room, plugging and unplugging. It becomes very heavy when you need to deal with staircases. Changing the bag or cleaning the canister of all the dirt and debris is an absolute mess. After vacuuming, you still need to dust again because of the residue that came back into the room. While it is not a task many enjoy, vacuuming can be made easier and better with a central vacuum system. You may have heard about them or know someone installing it in their home. Before you make appointments for estimates, you should understand what to expect from a Best Central Vacuum Systems installation in Ottawa.
What is a central vacuum?
With a central vacuum system, the motor is installed in a central location like a basement or garage. There is a system of pipes around the perimeter of the rooms and inlets placed where they will be convenient to vacuum. They can be in closets or along the baseboards near the floor. There are hoses that connect to the pipes through the inlets, and you use them to vacuum like normal. The pipes whisk away all the dirt and debris to the central location into a large canister. This is a highly convenient system to use and significantly easier than maneuvering a large or bulky vacuum around the house.
What is the process of central vacuum installation in Ottawa?
The system is installed by professionals. It is best if it is placed in the home as it is being built. However, it can be added to an existing house simply and without much mess. The crew will need access to the attic, basement, and crawl spaces. They will install the central motor and canister in an area away from the main living quarters. They will cut small holes for the inlet hoses. There are a number of options you can discuss with your dealer.
How does the debris collection work?
All the debris is held in a canister with a capacity of about 10 gallons, which is about right for the average house. With this size, you will only need to empty or replace the canister a couple of times a year. That means you won't be handling those messy bags each week.
How powerful is a Best Central Vacuum Systems?
Central vacuums are significantly powerful compared to traditional portable vacuums, and they include a filtration system to help reduce allergens and microscopic particles. It collects more debris from all of the surfaces in your home. You won't need to go over the same area of carpet multiple times to remove all the debris. This will shorten the time you spend and make the job easier at the same time. It can be designed to operate in the garage or workshop to clean up those larger or heavier messes.
Because there is increased power, you will need to ensure the area is cleared of toys and small pets. You will also need to monitor children and be sure they understand this is not a plaything. Pets and children can suffer injuries if not careful.
Central Vacuum Accessories and Tools
There are a standard set of tools that come with the system, as well as several options you can get to make the system work better for you, like a retractable hose and various attachments.
There is a number of other issues that will be explained in detail when you work with your central vacuum dealer and installer. That will include the simple maintenance and full operation of the system.
Contact The Vacuum Store today!
If you are considering a central vacuum installation in your Ottawa home or office, please get in touch with us. The Vacuum Store has a wide variety of central vacuum products and can provide you with everything you need for a perfect installation. We also offer a wide range of central vacuum accessories. Our Best Central Vacuum experts will be happy to help you choose the ideal system for your needs and help you with any questions you may have.

236: New Swears // Funny Isn't Real
Tumblr media
Funny Isn't Real New Swears 2013, Bruised Tongue (Bandcamp)
For all its stultifying reputation as a drab, bureaucratic, suspiciously clean town, in the ‘00s and ‘10s Ottawa had a thriving garage and punk rock scene. Even so, New Swears, the band that came closest to breaking out of that scene, was an outlier. Born in the basement of their (wretched, gross) shared home, the Fun Boy Clubhouse, New Swears started life as a Black Lips clone playing joke songs for their friends. Before long they were getting gigs around the city, with seemingly every show debuting a new gimmick: huge wigs and sunglasses; spraying the audience with so much soda and breakfast cereal that the floor became a glutenous bog; crawling on stage dressed like accident victims (it was not Halloween); forming a human pyramid in the middle of a song. New Swears shows were colourful, sticky, boozy parties, and people came out for a spectacle nobody else in Ottawa was even attempting. Within a year of forming, the boys had also come up with ten nearly perfect garage punk songs that shared early Black Lips’s campy, slack, sleeve-hearted take on the form, with a hyper-local twist.
youtube
Their musical shtick (shitty but expressive gang vocals, thin twanging guitar sound, mock heroic solos) doesn’t obscure that these guys had a great ear for hooks, the kind of hoser rock that sounds brilliant driving too fast down a bumpy dirt road or shotgunning beers in a snowy backyard. A lot of this is in the service of jokes in questionable taste: the peppy, Kinksy “Pig Farm” is about stinky notorious serial killer Robert “Willy” Pickton, while Jon’s Coke” tells the story of a girl who thinks she’s as good as married to a dude because she did blow off his dick. (Notably, I’m pretty sure both of these tracks were briefly removed from streaming services for a minute in the late ‘10s during what I imagine was a sweat over being cancelled.) Occasionally the full brunt of the humour requires local translation, as on the rave up “See You in Hull,” which perfectly documents the experience of crossing the provincial border to get booze in Québec where the drinking age is 18 instead of 19. (Word to Québec Classiques cigarettes.) But there’s also a dose of what my buddy Logan calls Sunday Morning Existentialism to “Paradise,” an ambivalent ode to getting fucked up that hides a quietly brutal chorus in plain sight: “All this alcohol is bad for my brain / But it’s legal, it’s legal / All this dirt won’t wash off my face / ‘Cause it’s bruises and these bruises won’t go away.” And tucked away at the end is “Two Darts,” one of the most boyishly cute punk love songs ever recorded.
I’m a part of that small cult that’s heard these songs hundreds of times, but also a part of that smaller sub-cult of people who were never friends with these guys, perhaps barely friends of friends, which is as disconnected as its possible for two points to be in such a small music community. There was eventually a micro-backlash against them, as is inevitable for a band in their position: too many young people got too fucked up for too long at the Funhouse for bad feelings not to find some cause, and there was always muttering about some of the boys coming from households in the well-heeled suburb of Kanata with too much money for their acting out to seem charming. But they were also catching on right as I was coming out of a long, aimless depression and seeing Ottawa as if for the first time. I threw myself headlong into local music and poetry, and it rewarded me with a life I’m a lot happier with than what I had before. I had some of the best times I’ve ever had at New Swears gigs, and I’ll always have this pimply little record in part to thank for it.

A Comprehensive Guide to Garage Door Opener Parts
Garage door openers are complex devices that consist of several essential parts working together to automate the process of opening and closing garage doors. Understanding the various components of a garage door opener is crucial for troubleshooting issues, performing repairs, or making informed decisions when purchasing replacement parts. In this guide, we will explore the most common garage door opener parts, their functions, and how they contribute to the smooth operation of the opener system.
Tumblr media
Motor Unit
The motor unit is the heart of a garage door opener. It houses the electric motor that generates the power necessary to operate the door. The motor unit typically includes a gear assembly that translates the motor's rotational force into linear movement to drive the opener's various components. The motor unit is usually mounted to the ceiling or wall of the garage, and it is responsible for lifting and lowering the garage door.
Drive Mechanism
The drive mechanism is the system responsible for moving the garage door along its track. There are three main types of drive mechanisms:
a. Chain-Drive: This is the most common type, where a metal chain connects the motor to the trolley, pulling or pushing the garage door along the track.
b. Belt-Drive: Similar to a chain-drive but with a reinforced rubber belt instead of a chain. Belt-drive openers are known for their quiet operation.
c. Screw-Drive: This type uses a threaded steel rod to move the trolley along the track. Screw-drive openers are durable and require minimal maintenance.
Trolley
The trolley is the component that connects the garage door to the drive mechanism. It slides along the opener rail as the motor unit operates, moving the door up and down. The trolley typically has an arm that connects to the top section of the garage door, allowing it to move along the tracks.
Remote Control
The remote control is a handheld device that communicates with the opener motor wirelessly. When you press the buttons on the remote, it sends signals to the motor unit, instructing it to open or close the garage door. Remote controls usually use radio frequencies (RF) to transmit the signals.
Wall Console/Button
The wall console or wall button is a wall-mounted control panel that allows you to operate the garage door opener from inside the garage. It provides a convenient way to open or close the door without using a remote control. The wall console also typically includes a light switch to control the opener's built-in light.
Sensors
Safety sensors are critical components designed to prevent accidents and injuries. These sensors are typically placed on either side of the garage door, near the floor. They use an infrared beam to detect any obstruction in the door's path while closing. If an object or person breaks the beam, the sensors will signal the opener to reverse the door's direction, preventing it from closing and potentially causing harm.
Safety Release Mechanism
The safety release mechanism, also known as the emergency release, allows you to disengage the garage door opener and operate the door manually in case of a power outage or an opener malfunction. It is usually a red cord or handle that hangs from the trolley, and pulling it disconnects the opener from the door, allowing you to open or close the door manually.
Conclusion
Garage door opener parts Ottawa work harmoniously to provide a convenient and safe solution for opening and closing garage doors. Understanding the function of each component helps homeowners and technicians troubleshoot issues, perform regular maintenance, and identify the need for replacement parts when necessary. By ensuring that all components are in good working order, you can maximize the lifespan and performance of your garage door opener, providing reliable and efficient operation for many years to come.

“‘Business as Usual” Sign Hung Out At The Kingston ‘Pen’,” Kingston Whig-Standard. February 14, 1933. Page 2. ---- Whig-Standard Reporter Made Extensive Tour of Whole Prison This Morning — 670 Convicts of Total of 955 Are Back at Their Accustomed Tasks - Riot Ringleaders Working Quietly in the Shops — Convicts Cheerful and Obedient ---- Absolute and positive denial to the report which appeared in the Toronto Mail and Empire this morning to the effect that only about 300 convicts of the Kingston Penitentiary are at their usual work, was obtained by The Whig-Standard not from the statement of officials but from personal observation made by a Whig-Standard representative who visited the Penitentiary this morning. In reality, there were 670 convicts at work of a total population of 955. At no time since the first of the year have there been less than 600 men back at their usual labor. This is the first time a newspaper reporter has been allowed through the prison shops since the party was conducted over the riot-damaged Penitentiary just after the October riots.
The Whig-Standard was able to go through every shop, the kitchen, hospital, cell-blocks, prison for women, prison farm, and in fact every part of the institution. The convicts seemed cheerful, obedient, and contented. The shop dome, where on the afternoon of October 17 over 300 convicts rioted, was as peaceful as a church today. The Whig-Standard visited the tin and paint shop, the mail-bag department, carpenter shop, change room, and garage, everything was perfectly quiet. In these shops alone there were at least 300 men working, while another large crowd of convicts was busy in the blacksmith shop. It was in the latter department the there seemed to be keener vigilance than in the other shops. The big iron grilled door was locked and another door inside was barred. Allowed to enter the shop, a convict or official cannot pass out until the guard in the shop-dome unlocks the outer grill.
Buck at Work. But there wasn’t slightest thing to indicate that there had been trouble in the blacksmith shop Convict Tim Buck was busy at work like all the other convicts; Convict Garceau, Evans, and others mentioned as taking part as ringleaders in the riot were carrying on their ordinary work.
Great activity is going on in the shops. Against the exterior wall great iron cages, In which will be housed armed guards at all times, are being built. Most of these have been put in position and in several of the shops the convicts were smashing the wall down so that the armed guard, when the work is completed, will have unobstructed view and control of the shop.
Stories emanating from Ottawa that the convicts are working on a "union" basis, absolutely refuted by Colonel William Megloughlin, warden at the institution, and this was borne out in The Whig-Standard watched numerous convicts in various shops come to the warden and make some minor request. There are absolutely no "walking delegates," said Warden Megloughlin. "Every man has the opportunity to come before the court which is held at the prison daily and it is then that any complaints or requests are handled.”
Ryan at Hospital Going up Into the hospital, the reporter noticed that many improvements have been made. In the small ante-room on the ground floor is a complete dental outfit, including dentist’s chair, etc. and Dr. F. Waugh was then attending several convicts. On the next floor, the hospital cells looked as pleasant and neat as any hospital; at the end of the corridor, a tall well-built man, dressed in white from head to foot and looking for all the appearances like a successful surgeon, came to Warden Megloughlin and remarked "I think you had better take a look at Smith, he’s not in very good shape.”
"I’ll do that immediately, Red,” was the reply.
The hospital attendant was Convict "Red” Ryan, one-time notorious bank-robber and who was the centre of the sensational escape from the prison some ten years ago. Convict Ryan looked the picture of health. He has a girth almost as large as a New York alderman, a ruddy complexion, and his hair and hands are well kept. Incidentally, officials state that heis remarkably efficient in his work.
Out In the open space in front of the shop-dome, some fifty convicts were playing softball. It was their exercise period. Two games were in progress and the fact that the ground was soggy and muddy didn't halt desperate slides to home plate. Convict spectators were more enthusiastic than any youngsters.
Ordinary Routine The ordinary routine is being carried out in the shops and large stocks of brooms, mail-bags, chairs, benches and, in fact, everything made in the prison, are on hand. In addition the work of repairing the damage done and making structural changes is well in hand.
At the female prison, a new building which will be used for the cutting of stone, has been almost completed. Concrete floors and walls have been laid and it was learned that several of the convicts volunteered to work overtime to complete jobs they were at.
Extensive work is being done at the piggery, where some fifty men were at work this morning. New floors have been put down and all the cattle and twine will be handled there.
It was learned by The Whig-Standard also that since the riots there have been a very large number of convicts who have asked to work and these have been sent back to their usual tasks as fast m possible. There is also the likelihood that at lent 150 more convicts will be put to work, if the plans for a new building are carried out.

What Are Some Common Garage Repair Issues?
What are some common garage repair issues that people face? In fact, any garage-related repair, maintenance or remodeling project can create a number of problems. Here are some examples:
Due to wear and tear, a garage door may no longer be reliable enough to protect the garage and its contents from the elements. This can be solved by calling garage door services, who can recommend a strong garage door that is durable and has good security features. It may be a good idea to replace the door before it becomes completely worn out.
Tumblr media
Aside from the garage door, another garage repair issue often comes up is the garage entry gate. What do you do when it's not working properly? You call garage door services Capital Garage Door Ottawa who can fix the problem. Some possible causes of the gate not opening are faulty hardware, power leakage, and improper locking mechanisms.
If you are experiencing problems with your garage entry, you can call garage door services. They will help you determine the cause of the issue and recommend a garage repair issue that can solve the problem.
A garage door can also become unstable due to bad weather or even animals or toddlers lurking around. Some garage repair issues can be solved by simply tightening the latches.
Other times, there might be things like a piece of debris or a small pole that can cause the door not to close properly. In this case, the garage services can apply lubricant to the moving parts to prevent any friction that could affect the closing of the door.
What are some common garage repair issues that are caused by people?
For one thing, people tend to forget about their car keys and leave them in the car. This is dangerous because if the car keys to get in the wrong hands, the owner could lose the ability to drive. To prevent this from happening, you can put a lock on the car keys compartment or in the trunk. Some garage companies offer automatic door locks as well.
Another garage repair issue often comes up when people are working on a home extension. When this project is finished and the garage door shutters are up, there may be gaps between the shutters. Instead of closing them, people push them back into place with their weight. Garage door services can address this problem by giving you a patch to apply on the garage floor.
What are some common garage repair issues caused by pests?
There are times when people want to put new carpet or linoleum in a garage. Unfortunately, this is not something you can do by yourself without proper tools. There are chemicals that you need to use to clean out the garage and these chemicals will damage your floors or the carpet if you accidentally spray it on the floor.
What are some common garage repair issues?
Garage doors are one of the most used parts of the house so they need to be maintained properly in order to protect your car and other items stored inside. If you are having trouble opening or closing your garage door, have a professional garage door service take a look at it. They may be able to fix it for you or suggest another solution to prevent future problems.
What are some common garage repair issues with your garage doors? Some homeowners are embarrassed to call a garage repair service because they think it will be too costly. While garage doors are expensive to replace, some repairs are much more affordable than you think. You can also avoid replacing garage doors altogether with a simple safety mechanism.
Purchase a garage door closer which will cover the garage's entrance when not in use. You will be able to open the door without turning it, but you won't have to worry about stumbling around all over the floor when you exit the garage.
What are some common garage repair issues with your garage's lighting? Your garage door's track can become loose or even fall off the hinges, causing it to be difficult to open and close.
A garage repair service can easily take care of this problem. They will be able to replace the garage door with a stronger metal track or they may suggest a different garage door opener that works better with your type of garage door.
What are some common garage repair issues with your garage's glass windows? Many garage repair services will suggest replacing broken glass windows. However, you should know that replacing windows is expensive.
In fact, you may want to consider buying new windows that are strong and break-resistant glass. You can also add some security by installing a glass grille on the windows of your garage.

Gotta Get Back By Christmas
Player: Jack Hughes Word Count: 2219 Warnings: Christmas and mild cursing
Tumblr media
Ever since the Hughes family moved in next door to you when you were fifteen, your families had always spent Christmas and Christmas Eve together. And even though the Hughes family was Jewish and Christian, you still celebrated both winter holidays.
“You know, honey, a watched pot never boils.” Ellen said as you stared out the Hughes’ window waiting for your boyfriend to come home for Christmas.
It was Christmas Eve at five in the afternoon and you were still waiting for Jack. He had played last night in Chicago and he should have flown into Detroit hours ago.
Jack Flight got delayed again, I hope to be in by 8
There was a snowstorm barreling through the upper midwest and Chicago seemed to be the next victim. Jack’s flight, which should have taken off at nine this morning, had already been delayed by six hours.
You only had limited time to spend with your boyfriend before he had to be back in New Jersey and these delays only shortened the time you got to spend together. To be quite honest, it pissed you off. In all reality, the next time you would be able to see Jack after Christmas was your spring break, and that was a long way away.
Quinn, on the other hand, had played a home game last night in Vancouver and was able to catch a red-eye into Detroit shortly after the game had ended. Luckily, he missed all of the snow and didn’t have a single delay.
Your Dad and Jim were watching TV in the living room and Luke and Quinn were most likely playing Chel on Luke’s Xbox in his room. Your mom and Ellen were cooking dinner like they did every year. You were sitting on the Hughes’ couch not really paying attention to anything other than the fact that Jack wasn’t home yet.
Jack was the only one missing and it really made you upset. You had a huge surprise for Jack that you had planned on giving to him tomorrow and it would just break your heart if you couldn’t give it to him on Christmas.
Jack Finally boarding…
Y/N YES
Jack Should be in Detroit in the next 2.5 hours Have to turn on airplane mode I love you…
Y/N To the moon and back
“Jack is finally taking off.” You tell everyone at dinner after your phone buzzes.
“Wonderful!” Your mom says, knowing that you’ll at least somewhat engage in the conversation now that you knew Jack would be home by eight.
Even though Jack wasn’t home, you still continued with your Christmas traditions. You, your mom, and Ellen did the dishes as the boys went outside of a game of street hockey.
Once the dishes were done, the ladies would sit in the living room and talk until the boys came inside.
“You okay?” Ellen asked you after noticing that you kept checking your phone every thirty seconds.
“I just miss Jack. I haven’t seen him since November when I went to Vancouver and even then we didn’t have much time together.”
“I know, honey,” Ellen says wrapping you in a hug. Ellen was like a second mom to you and so moments like these were really special to both of you. You were the daughter she never had.
“I mean we text all the time and I’m distracted with school a lot, but seeing Alex and Cole all the time makes me miss him even more.” You were a freshman at the University of Wisconsin studying Kinesiology. Being at Wisconsin allowed you to be with your friends from the NTDP, like Alex Turcotte and Cole Caufield. You were crying into Ellen’s shoulder at this point, just wanting to be cuddling with your boyfriend.
You three ladies talked for another hour before you finally got the text you had been waiting for.
Jack Flight just landed, see you soon
“Hey, Jack just landed. I’m gonna see if Quinn and Luke want to come with me to pick him up.”
“Okay, honey, drive safe.” Your mom told you.
You put on your jacket and grabbed your car keys.
“Dukes! Q!” You yelled as you walked out of the house. “Jack’s flight landed and I’m gonna go pick him up. You guys coming with?”
“I call shotgun!” Luke yelled as he raced to the garage to put his hockey stick away.
The half-hour drive to the airport was full of laughter and poorly sung Christmas songs including “All I Want For Christmas Is You” and “Santa Tell Me.”
When you reached the airport pickup line, Quinn took over the driving so you could go inside and wait for Jack.
Your eyes scanned the baggage claim area, looking for your boyfriend. When your eyes met after two minutes of searching, your feet could only run towards Jack. He dropped his bags as you leaped into his arms, wrapping your legs around his waist.
“I missed you so fucking much,” Jack whispered as he held you.
“Not nearly as much as I missed you.” You whispered back, tears streaming down your face. “I was literally crying in your mom’s arms I wanted to see you so bad.”
You let go of Jack and jumped to the ground. His steel-blue eyes stared into your Y/E/C ones and he pulled you in for a kiss. The kiss was passionate yet gentle. Neither of you wanted the moment to end so you only pulled away when neither of you had any air left in your lungs.
“I love you, Y/N,” Jack whispered as he pulled away.
“I love you more.” You stood on your tiptoes and planted a gentle kiss on his lips. You smiled up at your loving boyfriend. “Now let’s get you home. Everyone’s waiting for you.”
“Oh thank God you two are back.” Quinn sighed as you opened the back of the car to put Jack’s bags in the car. “We were thinking y’all were making out in baggage claim.”
Both your face and Jack’s face went red at Quinn’s comment.
“So you did make out in baggage claim!”
“You know you would do the same thing if you didn’t get to see Victoria for months on end,” Jack smirked, knowing he was pushing buttons.
“Victoria?” You raised an eyebrow at Quinn as you got into the back seat of the car with Jack.
“Victoria’s his girlfriend out in Vancouver,” Jack smirked, knowing he revealed something that Quinn didn’t want him to.
“Whatever.” Quinn scoffed as he started the drive back to Plymouth.
When you got back to Plymouth, you helped Jack bring his bags inside. Jack greeted his parents first and then said hi to your parents.
It was around 11 when the eight of you stopped talking in the Hughes's living room, or solving the world's problems as you like to call it.
Your parents went home, leaving you, Jack, Quinn, and Luke to your annual Christmas Eve sleepover.
“No funny business, ok, baby girl.“ Your dad said as he kissed you on the top of the head. You just rolled your eyes.
The boys grabbed the thick blankets that we go on Jack’s floor for Quinn and Luke to sleep on. You and Jack would sleep on his bed, while Quinn and Luke slept on the floor.
You made some popcorn for the four of you to munch on while you talked. Everybody situated themselves in Jack’s room after you all put pajamas on. For you, your pajamas consisted of Lululemon joggers and one of Jack’s USA hockey sweatshirts.
“Who you texting?” You ask Quinn, who had his eyes glued to his phone.
“No one.”
“He’s totally talking to Victoria,” Jack smirked.
“Oh yes, Quinny’s mystery girl.” You said with a giggle. “Tell us all about her.”
“Well, her name is Victoria. She’s a student at the University of British Columbia, but she’s originally from Ottawa.” Quinn explains.
“How’d you meet her?”
“So during the home opener, I accidentally shot a puck into the crowd and it nailed her right in the head. She was treated by the team doctor and in between periods, I went to make sure she was okay and I made sure she got home safe, asked her out and the rest is history.” Quinn told you, a smile on his face.
“You really like her don’t you?”
“I think I’m in love with her, to be honest. We only started dating like two months ago, but everything just feels natural with Victoria.”
“I know the feeling,” Jack said, placing a gentle kiss on your cheek.
“You two are disgusting,” Luke said after pretending to throw up.
“One day, you’ll feel this way about someone and you won’t think it’s disgusting.” You point out to Luke.
“Yeah,” Quinn agrees. “So is there a girl? Or a guy? We’re fine with either.”
“First of all, it would be a girl,” Luke explains, a blush spreading across his face. “And second, no, there’s no girl. Just hockey.”
“Aww come on Lukey, you’re no fun.” You pouted.
The four of you carried on in your conversation until you dozed off in Jack's arms.
When you woke up on Christmas morning, your head rested on Jack’s chest. You could feel the rise and fall of every breath, which only made you want to fall right back asleep. Jack has his arms wrapped around you, keeping you close to him.
Quinn and Luke had already gotten up. The alarm clock on Jack’s nightstand read 8:30 and you figured your parents were already over, so you decided to get your butt out of bed. Only problem, Jack’s death grip didn’t allow you to move.
“Jack.” You whispered. “Come on, baby, time to get up.”
Still nothing. Well, desperate times call for desperate measures. You started close to Jack’s ear and placed a kiss on the edge of his cheek. Your lips traced his cheekbone until you got to Jack’s lips. You felt Jack’s breath hitch and Jacked kisses back.
“Damn, can I get a wake up like that every morning?” Jack said groggily.
“Sorry, Jack.” You giggled. “Now get up I need my coffee.”
You crawled out of bed and made your way down to the kitchen. Your parents were already over, sitting in the living room with Ellen, Jim, Quinn, and Luke. You made yourself a cup of coffee with the Keurig and situated yourself on the floor by your parents.
“Jack coming?” Jim asked.
“Yeah.” You took a sip of your coffee. “You know how much of a zombie he is in the morning.”
All eight of you sat around the Christmas tree, passing out presents to each other. When it came to your turn to give Jack his present, you handed him one of the biggest boxes under the tree.
He tore open the festive paper and opened the box to expose three smaller boxes.
“Open the big one first.” You instructed him.
He took the biggest present out of the box and opened it to reveal a red and black jersey.
“Babe, this is my jersey.” He cocked his head in confusion.
“I know.” You say with a slight smile. “Open the bigger one.”
He gently opened the second box.
“A plane ticket?”
“Look closer.”
“No way.”
“Wait what?” Luke questions. “What’d you get?”
“You’re coming to Jersey?” He looks at you with tears in his eyes.
“We’re on the same flight out of Detroit tomorrow night.” You said with a huge grin on your face. “I also talked with Nico and got it arranged for me to go on your next roadie.”
“I love you so much.” He pulled you closer to him.
“There’s one more.” You mentioned to him.
Jack opened the last gift, a letter addressed to you.
“Dear Y/N,” Jack read. “The Rutgers University Admissions is pleased to offer you admission as a transfer student for Spring 2020.”
Jack said nothing as he picked you up and spun you around.
“I didn’t think it was possible to love you more.” He said, tears streaming down his face.
“Are you happy?” Ellen asked her son.
“The happiest.” He said pulling you in for a kiss. “Now my present for you is going to look silly.”
“It could never.” You replied.
He handed you a long, slender gift, the kind of gift that was most likely expensive and either silver or gold.
You gingerly tore the paper exposing a black velvet box. You looked towards Jack, who still hadn’t stopped grinning, and he gestured to keep going.
Inside the box was a silver chain with a few pendants. One was a dainty compass, another a J, and a small disc that read “No Matter Where.”
“Jack it’s gorgeous.” You smiled, feeling your eyes fill with tears.
“You like it?”
“Jack, I love it.” You smiled more, pressing a gentle kiss to his cheek.
When all of the gifts were unwrapped, it was just you and Jack left in the living room.
“So you’re really coming to Jersey?” He asks, obviously still in shock.
“I’ll be moving in for the spring semester, yeah.” You smiled.
“I can’t believe you.” He smiled back.
“I love you so much.” You pulled Jack in for a kiss.
“To the moon and back.”

Most Common Garage Door Repair Projects
Although you might think that your garage door is a simple piece of equipment, you should know that it is made of a lot of complex parts. As a result there are a lot of things that could fail. In order to be prepared for emergency situations, you should be familiar with the most common problems that could occur.
The door doesn't open or close completely
If you have a modern garage door, most probably it comes with two sensors. It is important for these to be perfectly aligned and not to have any obstruction between them. If this isn't the source of the problem, the culprit might be the limit switch. Usually this is located on the back of the garage door opener. It comes with two plastic screws for up and down and you have to turn them to adjust. Once you made the adjustments, you should check to see if this solves the problem.
The door reverses
In some cases you need garage door repair because the door opens again right after closing. In this case you will have to try adjusting the limit switches again. If the door doesn't even reach the floor before opening back up, the culprit might be the close force adjustment unit. This problem appears as the door gets older and the springs loosen. You will just have to increase the force of the springs.
The motor won't stop working - you need fast garage door repair
One evening when you get home you might notice that the motor seems to keep running even after the door closes. This means that you will have to look at the limit switch. You can adjust it on the track or on the opener unit. Try and see whether this trick worked.
It seems to be on but it doesn't move
In case the opener is humming but the door doesn't move, it means that it is functional and you will have to check the different parts to make sure that there is no obstruction. Another possibility you could think about is force adjustment. Even though the motor may have the power to lift the weight of the door, the spring might not be strong enough. This means that you will have to adjust the force.
In order to check whether or not there is a problem with the opener, you should eliminate it and open the door manually. Try opening the door a few times to check the springs and the tracks. Then try releasing the door halfway. It is supposed to keep its position; if it doesn't, you can be sure you have a problem with the springs.
On the other hand, if the door maintains its position, most probably there is an issue with the opener. You should go on using the door manually and consult with a professional.
Even though you might think you know nothing about garage door repair, there are some basic tasks that you can handle on your own.
