Me after tmagp 1-4: yeah I love the theory that the cases relate and hint to the voices that read them but it’s certainly nothing concrete and too early to say that’s the pattern for sure
Tmagp 5: Chester is reading a case about a guy who was roped into horror from a young age and has become almost dependent on horror stories. This, combined with his fatal flaw of morbid curiosity, led him to fall prey to something called “voyeur” that knew impossible invasive things about him and his past. Oh, what happened to him? Well he became another goddamn mystery, why do you ask?
#I’m lying btw I was on board from ep 1#but this one is just SO on the nose#as usual I’m very normal#tmagp#tmagp 5#tmagp spoilers#the magnus protocol#tma#jonathan sims#chester tmagp

Travelers Motel, 1100 Fremont St. Postcard, c. 1936
Travelers “Auto Court” opened in 1936. The city commissioners granted permission for a sign on 10/6/36. Actress Sara Haden, Clarence Finney, and Chester Carter were the property owners. Finney and Carter sold their stock to Haden in '37, with Finney remained as on-site property manager.
Clark County Assessor records indicate the motel was built in '26. If this date is accurate, it might refer specifically to the west wing, made of concrete block, as opposed to the east wing of wood frame construction. (More notes on this below.)
Sara Haden sold Travelers to R. M. Dockins in ’47. Dockins also acquired a new, adjacent motel on North 11st St built by Cleveland Schultz, which became Travelers Annex. The rear units of Travelers were demolished, creating a driveway from the main motel to the annex.
A new motel sign was added to the property no later than '62 – it's first seen in a film shot circa '61/62.
In '69 owner Charles Seifert (Charton Corp.) changed the front of the motel, adding a porte-cochére, and a gateway sign by Larsen Electric. In the 70s, owner Ted Candalino added a swimming pool to the motel in the courtyard of the annex, and in '79 the buildings were re-roofed. VMK Corp. acquired the property in '83. The corporation received a notice from the City ordering them to make repairs due to “substandard” conditions in the mid '80s.
Travelers Motel sold to Downtown Project (DTPLV) in 2013. DTPLV closed and boarded up the motel, and later demolished most of Travelers Annex wing, leaving only a two-story section. The main motel and its sign were repainted in 2020.
A note on the Clark County Assessor date: If the '26 date is accurate, the original wing may have been an apartment building. There were no hotels or auto courts in this area before the rise of tourism on East Fremont that followed the opening of Boulder Hwy in '31. An article appears in the Review-Journal on 8/9/30 referring to an apartment building construction at Fremont & 11st which may or may not be the Travelers property. Alternately, another year is referenced in a blurb about the motel's construction on 10/24/47, saying Clarence Finney assisted in building Travelers motel “13 years ago” ('34). Regardless of the building date, there is no record for "Travelers" prior to '36.

Postcard, circa '49 to early '50s. A sign on the far left points to Traveler's Annex entrance on 11st Street. The inset graphic for "Traveler's Hotel Court" was the design of the rarely-photographed main road sign that stood in front of the motel from '36 through the 50s.

In this damaged photo the signs for Travelers and Lucky motels can be seen on the far left. On Fremont St, Hotel Thunderbird's "Academy Awards of Show Business" float cruises the '54 Helldorado parade. Anita Freeman Photograph Collection on Southern Nevada (PH-00245), UNLV Special Collections.

Postcard c. '50s showing Traveler's Annex on N. 11th St. The single story level was demolished in 2019.

The second sign at Travelers was installed in the early 60s. The porte-cochére and gateway sign were installed in '69. Photos by Jane Kowalewski, 4/13/84. Nevada State Museum, Las Vegas # 0130:0107-0108.

10/20/2013, in the year the motel was closed and fenced. Photo by Joseph Dennis.

The sign in 2013 by J. Dennis, and 2022 by Robert BC. DTPLV commissioned the Las Vegas Mannequins to add the climbing figures to the Travelers and Fergusons motel signs. The motel and sign at Travelers were repainted in 2020.

What do you hc to be Alabaster's middle name? (I can't believe we're never told)
tbh his middle name is something i haven't concretely decided on but i do have a shortlist HAHAHAH
chester - particularly fond of this one because it makes him sound british and snooty
cyrus - nothing to boost that boy's hero complex like being named after a great ruler (cyrus the great)
caine - I LOVE me some sinister biblical allusions (cain being the world's first murderer, his victim being his younger brother -> goes well with the hecate fam fratricide tradition). it's also one of those names that sounds like it could also be a surname which is cool
calcium/calcite/cobalt/cadmium - any geological name IS HILARIOUS TO ME
caelum - it's the name of a constellation, and i think it'd be cool if his middle name honors his grandmother (asteria) in some way

So if Adrien and his moms were to sell the mansion they would definitely do something about the secret passages. Maybe they seal them up with concrete or something.
Then after Lila buys the house she and Chester just get a pickaxe and reopen the paths. Maybe use an akuma to make it less messy
Could work then!

🎐The Consequences of Small Melodies🎐
A couple who crafts together stays together 😌
Black!Queenpin!Reader xEnforcer Chester
Warnings: MINORS DNI, 18+, cursing, dark themes, serialk!ller!reader, mentions of previous murder, foreshadowing of murder, cursing, mentions of violence, read at your own risk!
He was deposited from his kidnapper’s shoulder to the hard ground and was left alone.
There was a kitchen area with a sink, fridge and microwave as well as what appeared to be a work desk. A large, wonky bookshelf stood directly across from him but there was little else that could be useful.
It looked like a modest, low-lit apartment. Aside from that–Benny had no fucking idea where he was.
The man bound by rope could hear the sound of whining metal.
"Oh, no, Chessy–did you put him on the good rug?--oh, I see, there's the tarp! My bad.”
His blood ran cold at the sound of your voice. He thought of his mother and the baby he left with her. He hung his head when the sound of your voice came closer and closer.
"Careful."
It picked up Benny's head, the monster never spoke...
Yet, there he was holding the tips of your fingers as you toed out of slippers and into the crocs waiting at the door for you by the coat rack at the foot of the stairs you’ve decended.
Benny had no idea where he was but you must have been somewhere getting ready for bed. You wore a nightgown and there was a matching silk scarf over your hair.
He could smell vanilla as you paced the line of the green gardening tarp, your grin showing golden fangs as you looked him over.
"Benny, Benny, Ben-ney! How are you doin', Benny?"
"I-I'm alright? Ma'am...?"
You hummed lightly, "I'd thought you'd be better, 'specially after you fucked me so good."
You stopped pacing and Chester retrieved a simple folding chair from somewhere behind Benny and set it up behind you. With a cross of your legs and Chester going to stand over your shoulder, it was clear.
The trial has begun.
Fear shot down his spine and thankfully it kept him silent and still as you started.
"I have a flock of my birds telling me that you went and made a visit down to Chicago. Tried to talk to some people that I don't even talk to. Promising them some information, giving them some information, eating up all their shrimp and fuckin’ on all their ladies. " You spread your arms out to the concrete space around you in a here we are motion,
"Will you be singing the same tune as usual? Benny?"
“I can explain.” He started slowly, cautious even though you were allowing him to speak. Benny swallowed, mind racing about what he could offer you–what he could tell you. Chicago was a bit of a blur after he did some dirt for your opp, but there had to have been something…
Benny shuffled forward urgently on his knees but flinched back at Chester's shoulders rising. It seemed like you knew a lot but how much could you have really known if Chicago was a No-Zone for you?
“Ooo wee, that mind is racing!” You giggled, crossing one leg over another and sitting up expectantly, “What do you got for me, Benny?”
What did he have? Really? He wasn’t even supposed to be back so soon but Baby Mama #2 started tripping–
You leaning forward with a smile more luscious than the sweet notes that lingered on your skin to ask,
“Do you want to know what I make my windchimes with?”
Entranced by your sudden nearness and definitely by the possible concussion from being gathered by Chester. Benny didn’t note Chester moving until he heard that familiar creak-drag of a heavy door being opened. His eyes went past you and into a cold, steel room. From where he knelt, it looked like a portal from
“It's a very common material, you can happen upon any of it on a stroll down to the corner store,” You went on as if confiding over a cocktail with a girlfriend, “Chessy over there can make anything work, that beautiful bastard. For me, it’s a bit hard to get but when you know what you’re looking for, it’s worth the wait.”
Chester considered the door that opened from what Benny realized was the tacky bookshelf, he stepped aside to the coat rack. From behind a housecoat and plastic poncho, Chester pulled away a dark-colored apron.
“Wai–ma’am, I didn’t mean to disrespect you! I was just trying to, to-uh, get some shit shakin’, y’know? In your name! I don’t know what you heard, but it ain’t fucking true! Please, you gotta know I wouldn’t do you like that! ” Benny was breathless but he managed to beg, eyes glued to Chester as he pulled a thick bundle from one of the pouches hanging on the back of the door.
Benny didn’t know what the fuck you were talking about. All he could see was the gleam of steel Chester unfurled and the feel of his life slipping from his fingers.
“Anyway, I’ve always liked my material to be in raw form. That’s how it’s been passed down to me, anyhow. There’s something about someone with a lot on their mind that gives me inspiration for the structure I wanted to use.”
You briefly followed Benny’s gaze to where Chester brought up a thick, sturdy table from the floor. He went around the table to lock the legs, attaching a hose somewhere beneath. He went out of view for a moment and Benny heard a flash of running water before the beast came back into his field of view.
Chester straightened, nodded once at space, then reached into his apron to pull out rubber gloves.
“Once I saw you slap her outside of that Church’s, I knew I wanted you then.”
Donna slow-ass, taking her time, whining something or another about not feeling good. This was about a week before Benny knew why. Benny hadn’t even thought twice of it, after seeing the flash of her rolling her eyes through the Church’s front windows, he turned and–
Benny looked into your eyes as you gave a coy tilt of your shoulder. Later that day, hours after he dropped an apologetic kiss to Donna’s swollen cheek, he got a call from your people asking for a meet-up.
“It’s the same as a forager, a jeweler–something like a collector, I suppose…” You reached out to gently lift Benny’s head by the chin to the ceiling. He didn’t understand what he was seeing, his head was a cocktail of panic and befuddlement. Benny saw swaying points at first before he focused and realized…
Windchimes.
Covering the entire ceiling and eerie in their stillness, the absence of music. Benny saw some adorned with charms, gemstones, and bells but they were mainly bare of various designs. Benny was shaking by the time you pulled him to look at you once more.
His voice trembled as he asked, “You…You set me up?”
“I chose you, really.” You said, “Giving someone a chance to disappoint me is only them showing me how beautiful they can really be underneath it all. Osteomalacia and all….”
From your robe pocket, you produced a slender stick. Dyed brown and whittled intricately with wave patterns, he immediately recognized it as your favorite hair stick. Only, he’s never seen it this close. Even more, when you ran the blunt tip of it down the side of his face–Benny’s body shivered in revulsion.
Benny stopped breathing. Bone.
Crazy. You were insane. Benny was in a losing battle with keeping down the contents of his stomach as he processed what you were telling him. It couldn’t have been over. Benny was just on top of the world, he had everything in his hands–
Before all of this, you assigned runs to Benny that normally go to your more trusted handlers. The money that Benny skimmed for himself was never brought up. He overheard things about him being the “favorite” from the workers themselves but it was always said in unspoken implication that Benny didn’t have. He thought they were jealous.
That Benny was too green to be a threat, too slick to be trusted with anything more than peanuts of camaraderie. He thought it meant you liked him. Benny was thinking of a way to get you to like him a little bit more, so he could get a bigger piece.
Did they know? Did his 'boys' know?
The whole point of going to Chicago was to scope the scene out to see who would be willing to offer protection if he decided to flip sides. Benny liked working for you, your product was good, but you weren’t giving anything up fast enough to his liking.
Now he was about to be bedazzled and strung up by some fucking psycho and her demented boy toy.
“I-I have kids, ma’am, please–think-think of my babies!”
“I think your babies and their mothers–along with yours–will be fine for a long while. Littlest girl looks just like you, too. I’m thinking of putting your son into sports, though. Got a lot of energy, that one does…”
It felt like a punch to his heart. The door to his freedom shut in his face as he watched you get to her feet. Chester was waiting at the mouth of the steel room, his eyes pinning Benny to the spot as you to meet him.
“Take your time. I’ll have some dinner and I’ll be waiting for you in bed.” You reached up on tiptoe to press a kiss to the corner of his mouth, then turned to walk toward the stairs.
“Ma’am!” Benny crawled on his knees after you and Chester went forward at the same time.
Benny fell back onto his ass as he tried to get away. He managed to get into the middle of the room as Chester helped you back into your crocs, leading you up the first few stairs before He tried kicking but Chester grabbed his ankle and jerked him the next few feet closer. Benny yelped as Chester grabbed him by his ankles again and began to pull him into his pit.
“Wait, wait–waitwaitwait, man, fuck! Just listen–just listen!”
You paused at the top of the stairs, looking down at him with a curious tilt of her head as you said, “What is that you have to say, Benny?”
Benny’s eyes caught those whittled points again. How many of these chimes did he know? How many of those poor, fucking bastards hanging up there did Benny deliver to you, with nothing but a smirk and not even an afterthought? Who would be soon looking up at him and wondering the same things? Did they all see the faces of those in their life or wonder if they would even grieve when that check came?
Benny flopped and turned, crying out and hollering with all the erratic fear that’s been piling in his chest. The end, then end, the end–!
“Okay, well, good talk!” you clapped your hands and stood to watch for a moment as Chester played with Benny.
Benny eyed Chester warily and he worked against whatever knot it was that bound his wrists. Chester couldn’t resist giving you another glance before he began circling Benny. The tarp crinkled with every step and Benny’s eyes were animal wide–the whites only a shock around his darting eyes.
He made for the bottom of the stairs, a flash of his teeth going into your throat going through his mind–you couldn’t open that door fast enough. Benny’s next thought was pain.
Chester checked him with a hard tackle, Benny hurtled into the hard wall with a crack. Benny was lifted by the scruff of his collar to be smashed into the wall once, twice more. He crumpled on the floor, rattled and frightened anew. He couldn’t even get the breath back in his lungs to beg.
Chester reached down and grabbed Benny by his collar, pinning him a few inches above the ground to the same wall he was nearly bludgeoned with. Benny’s eyes leaked as he looked at his end in its expressionless face.
“Don’t be like that, Benny-boy!” You said with fondness in your tone, “Chester’s going to take good care of you. I’ll hear from you later, yeah?”
His scream was swallowed by the screech of the door as you flung it open with ease, reminding Chester to have fun.

Alright having listened to TMP 1 and 2 now, current impressions:
-Samama is coming off like a blend of Sasha, Jon, and Martin circa season 1. Sasha's drive to investigate, Jon's role as the person placed in a New Position Under Scrutiny, and Martin's early friendliness/attempt to people please.
-Alice is my best friend. And possibly a spiritual cousin to Tim Stoker.
-Gwendolyn has a cross of Sasha (organized) and Basira (terse) in her clear ability to keep to the job's system*** and is understandably a bit hackle-raised between her asshole boss and the new guy seemingly poking holes in her methods. Surname obviously dangles the possibility of relation to Elias Bouchard--but whether this world's Elias is himself or not, or even alive, is up in the air.
-Oh, Lena. I don't care if she's eldritch or not, I am throwing the heaviest clunker computer in the building at her head. Other than that, there's the possibility that she's A) Got Jonah Magnus' eyes in her skull, B) This world's Web's Plan B should the Magnus Institute fall through, another backup avatar in case Jonah Magnus failed to stop Gertrude, or C) Somehow none of the above.***
-Colin sir, I cannot wait to see whatever secret brew you're working on. Show me the conspiracy's bones. I'm ready.
-CHESTER AND NORRIS. A) Jon and Martin are pulling a reverse Uno card and trying to use their familiar voices to wall off the Web's influence somehow, B) These are Jon and Martin's stolen voices that the Web is using to their own ends, or C) ...Jonathan Sims and Martin Blackwood are alive and well and non-avatared in this world and just so happened to get jobs recording spooky shit. Georgie hooked them up.
-***SO. About the """system""" involved with this lovely horrifying data entry position. These guys are recording statements. It's clear that avatars are still running around here doing their scary business. But what's getting to me is the fact that while these things are recorded and technically filed away, the system of organization, even with Gwendolyn's comparatively sharper intuition of the whats and wheres, the statements are seemingly purposefully dumped in "order" based on...you know. Vibes. Nothing concrete, nothing precise, and with the people working there going out of their way to insist nobody thinks about the work or the statements, period.
Which feels like a setup that falls very short of what the Eye or the Web would want. If there's a defined and understandable system that used to be there, whose rules of labeling were forgotten--perhaps erased?--that seems like someone's purposeful intention of putting at least a tiny wrench into the works. At least once that someone realized what that tidy organization was accidentally aiding. Who that might be, I can't guess yet.
But.
Because hope springs eternal, I do have an idea of where the Office of Incident Assessment and Response--replete with that very, very interesting classical logo--came from in the first place. If not Jonah Magnus, then someone else who's aware of the Fears. Maybe someone who was touched by the Eye and was appalled? Enough to want to do something about this horror, however small. Say, someone taken notice of around the same time as Jonah Magnus?
Jonathan Fanshawe, sir.
Was this you?

Don't Leave Me
Chester Lake x Reader (Angst/Fluff)
Warnings- character death, mentions of guns/ gunshots, mentions of blood
*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*
The sirens bellowed through he midnight air, The six police officer aiming their guns towards Chester Lake, a detective at the Manhattan Special Victims Unit. Your SVU pulled up to the scene, the tires screeching on the water-sodden concrete. You gasped as the scene unravelled in front of you, seeing all the gun that were aimed at your boyfriend's chest.
Chester and you had only been together for a couple of months, but you had started to grow very found of each other, craving each other and wanting to spend every second of every day together. But the fear that coursed through you at the thought of not having Chester by you side crushed your heart, hot tears flowing down your face. Chester stood behind a knelt ex-officer, his own gun resting on the back of his trembling head.
The shouts and pleas of the officers were muffled by a single gunshot, followed by the second. You watched in slow motion as Chester fell backwards, the other officer hunching forward and leaning into a pool of his own blood. You ran over to Chester as his body hit the floor, a clean gunshot through his chest, home to all of his love for you.
You leaned over his heaving body, his breath rattling shakily as he looked up at you.
"Hey." You breathed out, a small smile taking its place on your face.
"Hi." He managed.
You knew that there was no saving him now, so you just made the most of your final moments together. You looked back at the car bundled together at the side of the park, all of the detectives and officers watching you both carefully.
"Y/N..." He whispered, pulling your attention back to him.
"Chester." You whispered back to him.
"I...never got to tell you this but...I love you, so much."
"I love you too, baby."
You leaned down towards his face, your lips landing on his own, his lips a stark contrast to the night around you. You held the kiss for a few seconds before pulling away to talk to him some more. As you pulled away though, you didn't feel his breath fanning against your cheek like usual and sadness flew through you.
"No...NO!" You chanted over him, your tears falling down your face, and dampening his own porcelain skin.
You felt two arms pull you from the floor and guide your limp body back to the vehicle as two paramedics zipped his body into a black body bag. You looked up to the mysterious figure and saw the blurry outline of Casey Novak, the current ADA at the SVU and a close friend of Chester's. You buried your head into the crook of her neck, your tears running down her pale skin, and her hands soothing you by running circles on your back.
Then you heard the sirens of the police cars retreating into the night.

Yeahhhh I'm not sure how I feel about this. Honestly didn't know if I'd ever be able to enjoy the band without all 6 of the original members and now that this is happening I guess I have to come to terms with it.
I know there's a lot of controversy surrounding the new singer, which unfortunately spiraled into the internet lighting fires left and right. I don't think the band nor most fans for that matter ever wanted that to happen.
Personally I view this decision as the band moving on to continue their legacy; anyone with common sense knows that they could never replace Chester and even the band knows that. Don't know if I agree with keeping the name but that's their decision not mine. Honestly the new song isn't bad and it sure beats anything from One More Light, but it doesn't really compare to any of their first 6 albums.
I'm honestly just so unsure of the whole thing that it's too early for me to have a concrete opinion on this. I'm gonna need a lot of time of sorting through my personal thoughts and feelings before I can arrive to a conclusion on how I feel. I intend to give the new album a chance but it will probably make or break my decision to continue listening after that. This is my favorite band of all-time we're talking about here, I've literally listened to them since I was 4 years old. Not something I can just form an opinion on in a week's time.
