An unflattering assumption I have about every NPC in Stardew Valley

Sam: gave Gus a fake ID to get alcohol. Jodi never goes to the saloon and Kent is afraid he forgot how old Sam is, so he's never getting called on it

Sebastian: has ruined at least one online D&D group playing an edgy lone-wolf rogue with no parents

Maru: still brings up her SAT score in conversation sometimes

Demetrius: has the Neil deGrasse Tyson thing going where he assumes every field is easy because he's good at biology. Maru finds this endearing with her gadgets; he is banned from looking at Sebastian's code

Wizard: same as Demetrius but ten times worse

Robin: first marriage ended because she slept with the wizard (Sebastian is his). What can I say, she likes em brilliant, socially awkward, and just a little insufferable

welcome! its great to meet you all! my name is keebo and im new to stardew valley! ill accept any questions! but i do wanna set up some general rules so that way all of us are happy! 1. flirting is allowed 2. suggestive jokes are allowed, but outright grossness just isnt tolerated 3. please refrain from pointing sharp objects (swords, chainsaws, axes, etc) at keebo, he gets scared

now that thats out of the way, i thought id share my opinions on the other members of stardew valley!

Alex: hes nice! never throws me the gridball though even if i used to play all the time when i was alive! Elliot: i only ever see him on fridays when hes at the saloon or the occasional meet at the beach, wonder why hes so complicated! Harvey: he always forgets im a zombie, ill walk in with my head completely detached and he starts to panic! Sam: i slapped all of the hair gel out of his hair once, his face was funny Sebastian: another one with a complicated schedule! his motorcycle wakes me up in the night sometimes Shane: i think he has to hold back breaking a beer bottle over my head sometimes Abigail: we eat rocks together all the time! scares harvey to death Emily: we work at the saloon together! shes a bit on the mentally unwell side but that just adds more flavor! Haley: the more she denies being a lesbian the closer i am to buying her chapell roan concert tickets Leah: it took me over a year to realize she wasnt related to robin, they look so similar! Maru: one time i heard an explosion come from her house while i was visiting jodi and kent, and kent hid under the table for almost the whole time i was there Penny: usually dont talk to her, but i do see her with vincent and jas often! If you don't mind me making another long post, I'll talk about the current view I had for a part 2 and the what I thought of the characters first thought of the twins. Feel free to correct anything I miss interpretate, we currently don't have too much about the town's folks individual options on the twins and their Pokémon.

I sorted the town's folks into categories based on their opinion on Pokémon instead of the twins themselves but quite a few probably would be cut from the actual chapter unless I made a part 3

Likes Pokémon:

Jas, Vincent, Evelyn, George, Wizard

(George likes Pokémon but doesn't appear to, kinda like the dog owner who insults their dog but still gives it a treat. He might like their Pokémon but he doesn't like the twins because he doesn't want them to mess up the train station.)

Lukewarm about Pokémon:

Alex, Elliott, Harvey, Emily, Leah, Maru, Penny, Caroline, Clint, Gil, Gunther, Linus, Marlon, Marnie, Robin, Willy

(Alex, Elliott, Emily, Maru and Penny are all scared of Pokémon but think they're interest/cool but will observe from a safe distance. Penny is the most scared but also most intrigued)

(Harvey, Leah, Caroline, Linus, Marnie and Willy are scared of Pokémon but have more a neutral option of them and see they more like unprodicatable animals. Harvey favours Klinklang since its the least dangerous looking (and I like to think the Klink line is associated with anything with mechanics like the air force). Linus has mixed feelings about Garbodor, he feels a kinship since they're outcast but has a dislike since she might steal his dinner.)

(Clint, Gil, Gunther, Marlon and Robin are scared of Pokémon but aware that they can be tamed and are often used in their jobs outside of Stardew. Clint would like Boldore. Robin would like Gurdurr. Gunther is aware of fossil Pokémon.)

Plain fear of Pokémon:

Sam, Sebastian, Abigail, Hailey, Gus, Jodi, Lewis

(Sam, Sebastian and Lewis try not to show their fear but would run away if a Pokémon got too close.)

Hostility towards Pokémon:

Shane, Demetrius, Kent, Pam, Pierre

(All hostility mainly stems from parental overprotectiveness but witha small. Since Pam was the original bus driver, she possibly had seen some Pokémon battles outside of Stardew and seen how strong they could get. Kent is probably the only one to never fully like Pokémon.)

HI! Doctorsparkle here! Takadanobaba showed me your ask and well ... he is letting me take the stage on this main replay! I got to say tho Kraken! You are on the right tracks! I have to say you are amazing for paying attention to so many details and nuggets we have placed throughout various posts!

Your fanfic based on the mod is amazing as well and we are glad for all the ideas you have thrown at us. It really helps us when we are stumped.

Few things about some characters.

George - George’s relationship with Submas Twins is - Tolerating their presence.

Ingo and Emmet have a good relation with their wife, Evelyn, and they know that Evelyn adores Pokémon. (He knew she had one, as did he... when they where in their younger years before Stardew got rid of them. Evelyn had a Bellosom. While George problem had a a Crab-Related Pokemon. Like Krabby or Dwebble, really family Pokémon. They weren't trainers, just average folk.)

And since they have a good relation with the wife, well, you know the saying, happy wife. Happy life. As for his views on the train station.. he really doesn’t care… simply due to his age, him being wheelchair bound... and there has been dialogue related to him how he isn’t religious but since he is up there in age he preys to Yoba. (To which I can relate to, George and Evelyn as characters based on my own personal experiences with older family members.)

So really he doesn’t like the twins but as long as his wife is happy and the Pokémon are nice. He doesn’t care what they do… He's probably glad to have some form of company.

Harvey - Harvey is most definitely going to like Klinklang, however, he still views it as dangerous. Every Pokémon the Submas twins has is dangerous in their own way…. For Klinklang tho… well... giant spinning gears. And moving parts. If anyone who has worked with heavy equipment or machinery. Gears and sharp can be dangerous. Get your clothing stuck in there and well— RIP your arm or leg. Or your favorite outfit. He will still be wary and cautious about all moving parts on a Pokémon. Organic or Mechanical. Hence why he harps on the twins about their health more than anything. It's a hate-love relationship. Think of a nagging parent. He doesn’t outright dislike Pokémon but he just can’t turn off his doctor brain. Ya know?

Views on Job Related Pokemon

(Robin, Clint, etc) - LOVE THIS TO BITS! However, do keep in mind that Stardew Valley is isolated… it is a separate region. So, unless you're someone like Pam who travel across Stardew Valley. You're not going to see a Pokemon. Or a Pokemon Battle. I bet you no one even knows what a Pokemon Battle is.

I think they would learn about how Pokemon can help them with their own professions through casual talks with the Submas Twins when they have to say ask Robin for a commission or head down to Clint's to get some metal work done. The knowledge of Pokémon is lacking…. Which feeds into the fear and stigmatization of them. Knowledge is power. The government will most likely be censoring Pokémon related media... except for a few things that fall through the cracks like fashion magazines.

Which we’ll segway into… Hailey and Emily - They will most definitely fear Pokémon, however, we have some plans for the two with Elesa! They will know a little bit about Pokémon but only through fashion magazines. So think cute Pokémon like Happiny or Pachirisu. Anything bigger then a cat… forget it. They will be terrified of all of Submas Pokémon but over time it’ll dull down… they’ll still be jumpy but its not an outright dislike. Just... they prefer to see them from afar or in fashionable clothing in a book or magazine.

Gus - Definitely a fear of Pokemon... however! There are some exceptions. Joltik. And Garbador. Joltik I won’t go into details just yet, but one shows up in an event where Gus is. Garbador tho, think of Linus. Gus will most likely think of Garbador like Linus… so he isn’t scared of them. Plus. They keep the trash clean… so no raccoons or rats near the establishment. Lol. He'd be happy that no food/trash would go to waste and they make less of a mess than the other scavengers, so it's better to have it go to them.

Demetrius - Now he is a complicated one. I would say yes to hating Pokémon HOWEVER, there is definitely some character growth and development with him simply due to how Maru interacts with Pokémon and how much Stardew Valley is changing.

There is dialogue about Demetrius saying it's better that Stardew Valley- or this case the Ferngill Republic- is isolated. He could hate the Pokémon and dislike the twins at first because they are breaking the norm.

Maru, on the other hand, is absolutely fascinated about the changes. Scared and wary, but in awe of the Pokémon. The scientist in her is wanting to challenge the norm, while Demetrius is conservative and stuck in his ways… we’re also not a 100% concrete on this concept yet due to needing to double check dialogue and how his personality is in game but for Demetrius definitely a character development kinda guy.

As for how Stardew Valley relates globally with the Pokémon world stuff, I have been going off of the Setting article on this Wiki here

It shows a very pixel crude map of Ferngill Republic and Gotoro Empire. They are both continents or in this case regions.

You can’t drive to Ferngill Republic through Unova or any other Pokémon region. Only way to get there is by flight and then travel by bus. However when the train-station is up and running there will be Surfliner Routes, theoretical underwater train lines, or a giant bridge.

In Black and White and Black and White 2 there are the Wifi-Lines. I believe these to be international lines that connect to other regions. So, say for example, a train from Kalos deciding to go to Unova via this Wifi-Line or the Cyan Line. etc. etc. since Stardew Valley and Ferngill Republic has been isolated, banned on Pokémon etc. Passenger lines cannot travel on these train lines… also with the state of the station in Stardew, it probably isn't the best either.

The Ferngill Republic, however, conducts Agricultural and Economic trade with the other regions. Tomatos, meat, etc. due to possibly how taboo it is in some regions to kill and to eat Pokémon. Even though Magikarp and Slowpoke Tails might be a delicacy... the culture surrounding Pokémon as being our friends, family, partners in life... well you wouldn't want to murder Mr. Mittens now would you. That wouldn't sit right with some people.

So with the train station being rebuilt, expect a lot more economical benefits etc. and trade.

Jas - She’s just so cute. Her purple hair is adorable and I love her little bow. I just wish she would feel more comfortable around me.

Vincent - He’s just a good little boy and I love him. He always talks about his dad and I don’t know what I’ll do with myself if he doesn’t come back. Also, he just wants to be like his sunshiny big brother and that’s so pure.

Sebastian - One time his mom called him “Sebby” and I think about that constantly. He’d definitely be my favorite if not for Elliott and I really want to ride on his motorcycle. Also he plays synth like ya boi.

Sam - The best big brother, a sunshiny boy. Honestly, I ship him with Sebastian because they have the best dynamic.

Evelyn - How could I not love her? She’s just a kind old lady. I recently found out that she and her family have a canon last name, but I can’t remember it for the life of me. It’s so cute how part of routine involves just checking out the flowers.

Robin - She is singlehandedly the reason I can get married to Elliott and have his children. Thank you, my queen.

George - He’s a bit cranky and insociable sometimes, but he can be really nice when he wants to be and I can appreciate that.

Abigail - She was definitely the first to catch my eye, but she hasn’t grown on me as much as a lot of the other characters have. She’s really pretty, though, and she plays the drums. That’s pretty rad.

Jodi - I just think she’s neat.

Penny - She’s really cute and I can appreciate her singlehandedly educating the children of the community. But she looks really sad sometimes and I don’t know what’s up with that. I just want to know how I can help her.

Leah - She’s actually one of my lowest bachelorettes, hearts-wise, only ahead of Haley and Harvey. I’d talk to her a lot more often because I really like her, but our schedules just clash so badly that I never get to see her naturally.

Alex - I HATED him at first because he was just a douchebag, but now that he’s warming up to me, he’s gotten a lot better. Now he’s just a nice himbo and I can respect that.

Caroline - One time she complained to me about Abigail’s dyed hair, but I’m so confused, her hair is   g r e e n.

Emily - Please Emily, just give me your cloth. I’m begging you. it’s all I need in this life. I got two pearls (which are supposed to be rarer than cloth, but whatever), now all I need is some cloth. I remember you -

Maru - Idk, she just hasn’t really grown on me. She’s cool and pretty cute, but I just can’t get into her like I can some of the other characters. Plus, every time I talk to her, all I can think about is the family tension between Demetrius and Sebastian.

Haley - I don’t hate her and I never have, but she’s just a blonde. That might change as I get to know her like it did with Alex, but I don’t even want to get to know her. Alex had some potential because he seemed interesting, but Haley just looks like she’ll still be as arrogant and annoying as she is right now.

Linus - He’s helped me out, I’ve helped him out. It’s mutually beneficial.

Demetrius - I love it when I talk to him while he’s working or observing or whatever he does and he says, “I’m taking a break from my work,” like, no you’re not. You’re literally working as I’m speaking to you. But whatever.

Pierre - He helps me make money. What else can I say?

Clint - He’s portrayed as having romantic feelings for Emily and I really don’t know how to feel about that.

Shane - Like Alex, I didn’t like him at first. He was just a no good, jerky drunk. But my best friend married him in her first playthrough and encouraged me to get to know him. So, I did, and he is slightly less jerky now.

The Governor - *shrug*

Gus - I keep waiting for him to put pink cake back in his stock so I can get some for Jas and Vincent, but I missed my one opportunity.

Harvey - I cannot take him seriously as a bachelor. Maybe it’s just because I don’t like his mustache, but he just seems too old. Idk.

Mayor Lewis - Sometimes he compliments me on my farm, but then sometimes he makes fun of it and I’m not here for that

Marlon - He’s the only name I’ve had to look up so far if that tells you anything.

Pam - I just feel bad for Penny because of Pam, but I know she’s trying and I don’t want to hate her.

Marnie - I do not like her relationship with Mayor Lewis, it’s quite upsetting. But she makes sure I can get chicks, so that’s pretty cool of her.

Gunther - I had absolutely no interest in filling up the museum at first, but then I found out how cheap everything sold for, I decided I might as well. He gives me gifts, so I guess I can’t complain.

Wizard - I have so many things I could give him as gifts, but I just don’t want to give them to him. Besides, his house is so unnecessarily hard to get to, so I don’t want to bother putting in the effort.

I haven’t met you yet-

Kent - He’s the only one I’m including because I met him after I made the list, but before I made my thoughts. I don’t know where I’d put him. Probably in “Hey, I think you’re pretty cool, I like you a lot” because he seems like a good dad. He’s not bad, but he doesn’t stand out all that much either.

Hi! So I was wondering this for a while and thought that asking you would be awesome because your headcanons are amazing! Since we know how George first felt about same sex relationships (especially with Alex) how would the bachelors/bachelorettes family think of it when their kids love the farmer of the same sex?

First off, you’re so sweet??? I love you???? And this ask is so unique! It really got me thinking about the characters I so rarely talk to, and I love it! Unfortunately for some, I’ll have to exclude those without in-game relatives (Harvey, Leah, and Elliot). I will include sibling reactions though, since they’re family too!

Bachelors

Sebastian: (Robin, Demitrius, Maru) honestly, they’re not sure which is more surprising: the fact that Sebastian is in love with a man, or the fact that he’s in love at all. Robin gets over both of those quickly because her son is so happy! She’s never seen him openly smile this much before! And they’re so cute together! She’s such a proud mother! Demetrius needs some time to adjust to this new information. He and Sebastian don’t really chat much, and Sebastian is normally rather quiet on his own, so it’s not very surprising he didn’t come out the way most do and instead just showed up with a boyfriend. It takes him about a week to fully come to terms, but when he does he tries his best to be welcoming and accepting of his step-son’s sexuality. Maru though? She’s been screaming internally since she heard the news. Sebastian! In love! She couldn’t be happier for him, even if they aren’t on the best terms!

Sam: (Jodi, Kent, Vincent) when Sam first came out, Jodi and Kent were...a little shocked. They don’t really agree, but they try to be supportive. Vincent didn’t understand, but he learned that it wasn’t as big of a deal as his parents were making it seem. Sam thinks boys are pretty, what’s wrong with that? When Sam comes home with a boyfriend, Jodi has a moment of “oh, he really meant that. This is actually happening.” Which, I mean, duh. Kent had a split second thought that it might be because he was gone for so long, but he quickly shook that thought away because this is Sam’s choice; Sam’s happiness. He quickly stopped worrying about his son’s sexuality, and made it very clear to the farmer that he will no longer have bones if he dares to hurt Sam. Vincent thinks the farmer is so cool, and now he gets to see him more because he kisses Sam, which means Sam brings him home a lot, which means they can be friends!

Shane: (Marnie, Jas) Marnie’s just happy he’s getting better. He’s drinking less, he’s smiling more, and now he’s in love! Who cares if the farmer’s a boy? And isn’t he the same boy that’s inspiring Shane to continue getting better? That just makes their relationship even better! Jas doesn’t understand at first, but she learns quickly (especially with Sam and Vincent’s help) that it’s normal for boys to want to kiss boys, too. What about girls though? Can girls kiss girls? Maybe she’ll ask Penny.

Alex: (George, Evelyn) Alex already knew George’s opinions on same-sex couples, so he didn’t come out for a long time. He decided to face the risks and introduce the farmer as his boyfriend, and it...wasn’t too well received. Evelyn didn’t want to believe it at first, and George started to complain about their relationship, which convinced Alex to stay a few nights with his boyfriend just to avoid anything worse that might happen. When they came back the next week, Evelyn had come to terms with Alex’s decision and tried to be more welcoming, but George wasn’t really convinced. He wasn’t going to straight-up shame them like he did before, but he still complained a bit. It took some time, and some convincing for a scared Alex that things will be okay, but the farmer worked to gain George’s approval and slowly changed his mind, if only for his and Alex’s relationship. Alex is just happy he can safely love the farmer again.

Bachelorettes

Maru: (Robin, Demetrius, Sebastian) Robin and Demetrius are kind of surprised when she introduced the farmer as her girlfriend. Sebastian? He’s had a feeling she wasn’t straight, but he never said anything. Sam always says “gays can smell each other.” Guess he was right. Robin, like with Sebastian, gets over the coming out quickly because look how happy they are! They’re so cute! So in love! Demetrius though...he’s still protective of Maru, as always. He’s always suspicious they’re doing something they shouldn’t, or maybe the farmer’s doing something she’ll regret later, but he later learns to calm down and just let his daughter be in love. She’s happy. All he wants is for her to be happy, right?

Penny: (Pam) She’s shocked when she learns about Penny’s relationship with the farmer, but she’s not mad. She makes sure the farmer is treating her little girl right and that they aren’t doing anything they shouldn’t, but she’s just glad her daughter found someone she loves.

Emily: (Haley) She and Haley were already well aware of each other’s sexualities, and when Emily comes home with the farmer as her girlfriend, Haley couldn’t be happier, but she’s also a little shocked that she managed to get with someone like the farmer. I mean, she’s the farmer for goodness sake! Talk about a power couple!

Haley: (Emily) as stated above, Haley and Emily already know of each other’s sexualities. When Haley introduces her new girlfriend, the farmer, to Emily, she can barely contain her happiness! Not only is she proud of and happy for her sister, she’s shipped them for so long and now they’re together! Otp! Otp!

Abigail: (Pierre, Caroline) Abigail never really came out to them, she just kind of showed up with a girlfriend, the farmer. Pierre was speechless for a while; when was she going to say she liked girls? Why didn’t they talk about this before? He’s not mad, it just took him by surprise and he doesn’t really know how to react. Caroline helps him calm down, though, and she doesn’t really care. So long as Abigail’s happy (and they are least consider adopting grandkids), she’s happy, and the farmer is more than welcome to be part of their family.
