All I could think about during IWTV season 2 every time Santiago was on screen is that he looks like the long lost member of Depeche Mode

where I sit regarding the Note Block Concert
I guess where Iām coming from with this episode is that, as an appreciator of Tom & Jerry skits, Iām looking at everything that happens in this episode through that sort of narrative framing.
And I donāt really think about how Tom feels when Jerry sabotages him, or whether the sabotage is justified or if itās going too far. I just enjoy watching him be sabotaged.
Iām not assigning any moral judgement, when I talk about this episode. Not to Green, not to the silverfish, not to the color gang, and not to the fandom. Iām not out to villainize anyone involved.
Again, thereās nothing wrong with being sympathetic toward Green in this. The silverfish did get in his way and interfere with his ability to just play the music and vibe with the performance, and then not only did his own production (which heād undoubtedly put a lot of work into, because Green always puts a lot of work into whatever he does) get taken over by a swarm, but he got personally upstaged on his big day; and all over something he has such passion for and such an abiding connection with, too. I completely understand how that couldāve thrown him off-kilter. I completely understand how he wouldāve felt cheated and robbed and disrespected. I completely understand how fans might empathize with his dejection, his frustration, his anger. I understand where people would see things like that, in this episode.
I understand why people would say Green went too far. I understand why people would say Green didnāt go far enough. I understand why people would sympathize with Green. I understand why people would sympathize with the silverfish.
My approach is different, however, and because of that I donāt see it the same way.
Because, even as I acknowledge all the complicated things Iād expect a person in Greenās position to be feelingā¦none of it influences my interpretation of the episode at all.
Iām not saying the silverfish was in the right. Iām saying the silverfish was fun to watch.
Iām also not saying that Green was in the right, because to me that doesnāt matter as much as Green being fun to watch.
I watch this episode, and what I see is the framework of a Tom-&-Jerry-esque formula at work in the dynamic between Green and the silverfish, and that shapes my perception of this episodeās story. Iām not thinking about how the characters feel beyond how it influences their actions; Iām thinking about how theyāll respond to the otherās aggravation. I donāt care if what theyāre doing is justified, I donāt care whoās in the right; I care about what would be funniest and whoās the most entertaining.
I know thatās a far cry from my usual angle, but thatās just what this one is to me.
To me, itās a story of two little bastards engaging in an arbitrary war against each other while fantastic music bolsters their absurd antics, and it doesnāt get any deeper than that.
#and if you wanna consider to what extent the stickfigures themselves are toons and#how that influences their behavior within a setup like thisā¦but thatās a whole other post#avm shorts#animation vs minecraft#avm note block concert#I do wanna clarify that my intention is not to dismiss anyoneās takes on Green getting worse than he deserved in this episode#yāall have had some very intriguing points to share and my heart goes out to you#Iām just saying that Iām approaching this episode from a fundamentally different place#I see both their sides and have decided Iām on neither

like youād think the worst, bro-iest crowds would be hardcore or metal shows and sometimes theyāre not great but in my recent experience? itās the iconic 90s/00s indie rock bands. I donāt fucking get it.
#perhaps itās that the punk and metal scenes seem to have pretty strong unspoken codes of concert behavior#but idk man it mystifies me

look i just think if someone is being disrespectful towards an artist they claim to love in a setting where that artist can DEFINITELY hear them and when told to stop they say itās a ājokeā and double down when told that sort of joke isnāt funny we should be allowed to kinda informally shun them from the fandom until they grow up and learn how immature and disrespectful theyāre being
#im not one to call people fake fans but . if you act like that you are a fake fan and you dont deserve to call yourself one#ESPECIALLY when the artist has expressed how much they dislike that behavior#this is mostly about that mitski post j just reblogged but itās also about so many others#fob fandom we are pretty good at this i will say lol#that one streamer ? never heard from again#the people who threw tantrums about ab/ap? immediately blocked#anyway. this isnt really anything im just. can we please bring back concert etiquette#or failing that can we bring back calling these people out more directly or something

i think going forward we should all agree if you heckle vessel during "atlantic" then you will be taken out back and beaten
#can't stop thinking about the guy who screamed at vessel during the entire song to spit on his girlfriend#or apparently the girls who were screaming his real name during the song at one of the shows#shut up forever#also to be clear: this behavior isn't appropriate during any point of the concert#but somehow it's worse during atlantic#sleep token#text post#okay to reblog#like obviously their songs are open to interpretation but to me atlantic is about surviving a suicide attempt#and to be doing that shit during that song? im throwing my shoes at your head

All my Tarot Card designs
Check this card out on my Patreon for free!
Here's my King of Pentacles card!
Definitely an obvious choice, but I went with Akiyama for this one. If you're interested in reading more about the King of Pentacles and my reasoning for choosing Akiyama for this card, I'll put that under the cut:
Upright, the King of Pentacles is the ultimate rags-to-riches story. He did not inherit his obscene wealth. He earned it through his own hard work. But unlike other wealthy individuals who come from similar circumstances, but lose their connection to the less fortunate, the King of Pentacles has chosen to uplift those around him and share his wealth.
In this generosity we see someone who has faith in their ability to make enough money to replace what they're giving away. To the King of Pentacles, the lives of the people he's helping are much more precious than the numbers in his bank account.
The King of Pentacles accrued his wealth in the traditional ways-- he's not one to gamble and he doesn't typically indulge in frivolous spending. Through his hardships he has learned the importance of controlling his spending and investing wisely. Showing off or taking risks on a whim no longer appeal to him. He would much rather use his money to help people and actually make a difference in other people's lives.
Emotionally, he's not all that in touch with his own feelings or the feelings of others. This is largely due to this king feeling like he has other things he'd like to devote his attention to. While he definitely cares about his loved ones and the people he serves, this can manifest in criticism or advice that you might not have asked for.
Reversed, we see a King who no longer supports his people. Whereas the upright King of Pentacles is generous and confident that he will make back everything he gives away (and then some), the reversed King of Pentacles sees no value in generosity. His controlled spending habits have become penny-pinching and cheap and his confidence is replaced with an almost desperate need for wealth in all its materialistic qualities.
Despite his obsession with all things commercial, this reversed king doesn't have that much money. It seems to just slip out of his hands, being spent on gambling or other impulse-purchases that he can't afford.
His previous lack of emotional intelligence is now downright cruelty. He is aware of others feelings and thoughts, but he simply does not care. He is now completely inwardly focused, choosing to take what he wants regardless of how it affects others.
Akiyama definitely fits the upright version of the King of Pentacles. Considering he runs a loan business that doesn't charge any interest, I'm not saying anything all that revolutionary.
Reversed though, I think there's a more interesting discussion to have about Akiyama's character and how it relates to this tarot card.
So I'm not a huge fan of the way Akiyama treats women in Yakuza 4. For one, the male customers he has get these personalized tests that make them face the issues that caused them to seek a loan in the first place, but then for the women it's just "work at my hostess club, go on a date with me, or be willing to do sex work". When looking at Akiyama's treatment of women in 4, specifically Yasuko, we see a man who wants something and engineers situations to manipulate the woman into giving him what he wants. Yasuko says so herself that she can't really decline a date with the person who decides whether or not she gets the loan.
And while Akiyama isn't evil or even necessarily doing this consciously, we see someone who is willing to hold the promise of a loan over the heads of the people who have something he wants.
Akiyama wants to help people and that's great, but there's also a dark side to his generosity.
#The end sounds kinda critical but I actually like Akiyama as a character quite a bit!#This is mostly a read on his character in 4 because that's where I feel a lot of the issues I've had with his behavior originate.#In 5 he seems more like a trickster god which is a little more entertaining to watch.#Still a bit fucked up but less predatory and weird.#Like. It's kinda hilarious to tell someone who's acting like a pageant mom that he'll give her the money to mold someone into the#perfect idol and then turn around and tell her that she'll have to quit the business after the idol's debut concert.#yakuza#my art#yakuza fanart#akiyama shun#tarot card#tarot card design

westerners are so fucking annoying when it comes to concerts, they go there just to scream louder than the twenty blaring speakers and the artist they paid thousands to go see.
i would genuinely pay for a plane ticket to go to japan to watch my favorite artist at a concert, bc japanese people are the only people who know how to act during concerts and they ACTUALLY LISTEN
#like it genuinely makes me mad#even watching clips of concerts makes me feel like im losing money#it makes me feel $1000 in debt#no one pays that much money and goes to a concert to listen to a bunch of voice cracking teens screaming around them#you can go to any school sports event to get the same thing for basically free.#i can get singing along but literally screaming at the top of your lungs is just trashy behavior#you are dampeningthe experience for EVERYONE else.#people in japan stand there silently watching#maybethey wave a glowstick in the air#it's like a lowkey cafe concert almost. just super chill vibes#you can hear the artist super well and theyre able to get more into it because they can actually hear themselves think#just a way better energy.#every japan cncert ive watched online makes me so envious. literally the best place on earth#it reallyy is magical#and then like i said american concerts make me want to shoot myself in the head

the way this line had me gagged the first time i watched this episode, like this is a line you hear in an obscure queer indie film
#radio free roscoe#the longer season 2 goes on the longer i am CONVINCED#that travis and ray are in love with each other#which is so funny bc before season 2 ray didnt give ANY queer vibes#maybe thats bc he was always in love with lily#but like for almost all of season 2 hes been completely obsessed w both river piece and travis#even though we're supposed to believe hes still in love with lily#he still feels entirely preoccupied with travis#trying to get in his head . trying to figure him out and learn more about him#even their feud over lilys affections quickly became less about lily and more about the two of them trying to fuck with each other#likeeeeee im not crazy right. there is gay behavior here#not to mention lily dont even gaf about either of them bc shes dating parker#and they go on quirky weirdgirl dates and kiss at flaming lips concerts and go thrifting together#theyre so cute and uncomplicated compared to the intense homoerotic rivalry between travis and ray#like . they are living in each others brains RENT FREE

On July 22, at a family YH concert, we will see four of the five members of Uniq!
#uniq#Seungyeon has broken his contract with YH since last year so apparently there is no hope that the five of them will get together#at least until Yibo bought the entire stake in YH lol#the news about YH behavior when selling concert tickets by subscription just makes me sick#there was no respect for the company's policy anyway and now they have discredited themselves altogether

okay yeah making this its own post because it needs to be said. at the end of the day they are workers doing their jobs and shouting shit at them and acting entitled to a certain type of performance is never okay. itās wonderful that they love doing it and that it can impact and reach so many people! that impact and their place in the music scene as entertainers does not mean its okay to treat them this way.
#and just getting ahead of anyone thinking oh stop defending them theyre fine#okay maybe they are. but this kind of behavior has ripple effects in the world in general.#you start treating a band like your personal amusement device and shouting whatever you want TO THEIR FACES it only spreads from there.#you start acting that way in other areas of life and towards other people.#at the end of the day this is not an issue even directly about fall out boy; they just happen to be victim to it a LOT.#itās about concert etiquette and general life etiquette and treating people like people#and not as npcs in your life who should cater to your every whim.#anyway. just have some perspective please and dont do this shit.

I'll be frank I was worried that the crowd at ethel cain last night was going to be bad... of all the artists I like, she's the one with the newest fanbase and I've noticed a correlation between new fanbases/young fans and the reports of concerts sucking nowadays. delighted to report that the crowd last night was polite and engaged and also the biggest gathering of WLW in the city since the woho teams were in town ahahaha
#I think the thing about miss cain is that she's still a very niche artist so people are only going if they KNOW of her and her work you know#but I was just so pleased... it was a great concert and damn what a neat location#my friend DID get tickets to n. kahan and I'm going with her lol so I'm very curious to see if the rumors are true about fan behaviors#also I need to brush up on his discography... I know like.... 2 songs
