you started to think professor park had it out for you. there was no way, no actual way, you were going to survive a whole semester of this.

it had been one week since the project started, and already, jay was getting on your last nerve.

“you walk so damn slow,” jay grumbled as he walked beside you down the quad, hands stuffed in his pockets.

you shot him a glare. “then walk ahead of me. no one’s forcing you to stay by my side.”

“oh, but they are, sweetheart,” he smirked.“professors orders. we have to act like a couple, remember? it be weird if I just left you behind.”

you scoffed. “the only weird thing here is you calling me sweetheart. never do it again.”

jay let out a low chuckle, shaking his head. “you’re so fun to bother. this is going to be great.”

“you mean miserable,” you corrected, rolling your eyes.

the two of you had to meet up at least three times a week—in public—to convince people you were “dating.” professor park insisted that this wasn’t just a private assignment; your classmates needed to see the relationship progress over time. which meant you had to be seen together, talking, walking, eating—hell, you even had to sit next to each other in lectures now.

“okay, let’s get this over with,” you growled as you reached the campus café.

jay raised an eyebrow. “you say that like I’m not the best fake boyfriend you could’ve gotten.”

you shot up immediately. “you used my shampoo?!” your blood was practically boiling.

you blinked, a lump in your throat formed and your eyes daring to spill tears. you hated crying over your own flaws.

“then why does it feel like i’ve been running this whole time?”

jay reached out, taking your pencil from in between your fingers and placing it aside. then he took your hands in his.

“maybe you’ve been running,” he said, “but not because of me. maybe you’ve been running because nobody told you that it’s okay to rest. breathe. and ask for help,”

your hands stiffened in his.

“you don’t have to prove yourself to me,” he continued, voice lower than a whisper now. “you already got my respect. and more.”

you eyes widened.

“more?” you echoed.

he gave a faint, bashful smile. “yeah, more. i think somewhere between all the pretending , it stopped being pretend to me.”

your heart skipped a beat. you knew. you’d known. but hearing it? it shifted somewhere deep in your heart.

“me too.” you said quietly, “i stopped pretending weeks ago.”

To preface Im about Tommy’s age now, when I was 15-17, used to be a huge dream stan, and I was very vocal about defending him online. —I was extremely parasocial and weird, and looking back on it I really regret how I acted.

So. Idk how much people who weren’t stans of his saw, but dream- as stupid as it sounds- was our friend.

He had bath calls with us, sleep calls with us, he told us in depth about his personal life and his health issues and his trauma and his moods and his habits and just basically everything. Most of his interactions with us was through his discord, and then someone in the fandom would stream his discord calls for people who weren’t there. A running joke was that dream had a parasocial relationship with us. there was absolutely no gap between creator and fan, he followed me more than once, he brought fans onto his discord streams and talked with them and he knew a good amount of us by name. He called us cute and talked about how much we all (as individuals) meant to him,

when drama happened he’d usually either do a space/call or go on his private and vent to us, there were I think two separate times he’d have full panic attacks over drama happening, and we’d have to talk him down. He also would, when responding to callouts or accusations, use arguments that his fans were making.

He did this during almost all his pitfalls, including the grooming allegations, his wording was often taken word for word from tweets by people I was friends with. I dropped him after the initial allegations, but for a while after i still checked in bc i was really hoping he’d be innocent (he wasn’t) and i can confirm he still does this. He also regularly dmed his fans, mostly his black fans, to ask for “help” on being less racist.

I don’t use the word “grooming” lightly, but dream was and is absolutely grooming his audience. Thats why dream stans seem so cult-like these days. The amount of guiltripping, lying, forcing an us vs them mentality, and manipulation I saw this man pull was actually sick. He’d frequently, privately, to us, vent about tommy or quackity, and about how “all his friends hated him” and “we were all he had left” (legit, not joking). He is extremely good at emotional blackmail, he is good at making his fans hate other creators and turn on them, he is very good at utilizing his tears and using wording that he knows will make his mostly teenage fanbase think he’s a good kind person.

He wants to impress on his fans that he really was just a kind person, the only kind person and the only voice of reason. That’s why when the Cantu thing happened, he started posting “messages” of him being so kind to the Uber driver. He needs his fans to think he’s a kind and loving person, and that Tommy and quackity and literally everyone who’s pulled away from him was just a fake friend who couldn’t be trusted. He somehow was always, always the one being fucked over.

I remember when I told my friend about dream (this friend had a completely neutral opinion on him and barely knew the guy beyond his manhunts) and he told me that sounded like grooming.

He gradually isolated his (primarily young, female) fanbase using private accounts, discord calls, Snapchat, and whatever else. He got extremely personal with us far beyond the level any creator should be, he used kindness and flattery (like calling us “mature”. Also legit) to make us feel genuinely loved by him, again, NOT in the way a creator loves their fans. In the way a friend loves their friends, even in the way a partner loves their partner. He lashed out at us and had panic attacks when we did criticize him, he used tactics to make us think he was always right and good, and more than that, make all his detractors seem like terrible people out to get him AND us, he played himself out to be the perpetual victim and used carefully cut clips and emotional manipulation (like how he brought up his ~poor innocent family~ when harassing quackity. Weaponizing trauma like that was something he did ALL THE TIME to us whenever he was criticized.) in order to use us against people he didn’t like, making us take the bullet for him.

He uses his kindness and supposed goodness as a weapon, he used Tommy’s own trauma around doxxing against him when Tommy dared to criticize him (“I supported you when you were getting doxxed, yet you won’t do the same for me?”)

He used trauma to relate to his audience, making us feel like he was the only person who got it.

It’ll sound stupid, but it was genuinely really scarring. The way he made me and my friends feel was so confusing. I often found myself feeling used and violated, but also like I was in debt to him. I dreaded when he’d have fans on call, I dreaded him but also he felt like all I had. The tone of him and the fandom was that “we have to defend him at all costs, they’re out to get him and we’re the last line of support he has”. It was embarrassing, it was stressful, it was horrible. I wasted so much fucking time and energy on him.

it was really traumatic and distressing, especially as a teenager who’d already been at a vulnerable point and used him as an escape originally. I know that sounds melodramatic but I mean it.

He is a groomer through and through. He’s barely getting any new fans, but he’s barely losing any either bc the grasp he has on them is so tight.

Worst of all, if you leave the fandom, you’ll lose your friends and become an enemy. He encourages that behaviour and that mentality. He encourages harassment of his ex-friends, he encourages harassment of anyone who doesn’t like him. He wants you to feel like he’s the only good person, and like he’s the only one who will care about you. And I know at least in my experience that the way I acted when I was a fan of his did genuinely cause me to feel alienated in my social life. I lost friends, I felt like I couldn’t talk to anyone “safely”. That’s how he wants his fans to feel, because at some point he really is all you have.

And that’s why dream stans are still sticking around. It’s at the point where the only way they’ll leave is on their own volition, and the more publicly fucked shit he does, the less hope I have that they’ll do that.

i don’t have much to add but i agree, and several people i know who used to be big dream fans also agreed that there was a heavily insidious ‘us vs them’ atmosphere

I don't think the Jutty allegations are real.

Now that I have stated that, let me elaborate. When the allegations came out, I was absolutely neutral, I didn't know which end to believe. But then I kept piecing more and more things together, and I can confidently say im 90% on jutty's side.

No, none of us really know exactly what happened, but I don't think he did it. Firstly, the person who came out about it used a throwaway account, meaning they didn't have a profile picture, had a user that couldn't be traced back to them, anything.

That doesn't specifically mean they were lying, though, but they then decided to "post a selfie" that they supposedly took with Jutty as "proof" of his SA. In the picture, his hand was on their mid to upper back, which yeah okay, maybe it was just proof that they were actually at this show. WRONG. Someone literally came out about a week after it was posted and showed proof being like "uhh that's me, not them. And Jutty didn't do shit to me."

That is really what made me jump into believing that Jutty didn't actually do it. And sure, there's still the like grooming/creep accusations toward Jutty, but those literally showed nothing. I'm sorry to say it, but him being overly friendly/very lightly flirting with an ADULT doesn't really say much other than he doesn't understand the professionalism needed to interact with fans online. He didn't actually do or say anything specifically wrong.

Oh shit! Screen Universe doodle fan art REAL!! Idk if you're a daydreamer or not, but if not, the fact that I managed to get a not immersive daydreamer hyperfixate and be obsessed with them is very impressive!!

Ok, they have a whole ass lore doc in the works that was essentially pretty close to having its early release version done that I somehow didn't finish because I have other stuff in my plate. They go very far back! Back before Screen Universe was a thing in my head!

But I will give you the basic gist and summary of it because holy fucking shit, I'm honestly, genuinely very flattered that you like them as a pair! Or even notice that I pair them so much.

Ok, so! On the meta timeline, back before Screen Universe was a thing in my head, they were enemies in the previously active daydream world because I genuinely hated Lusamine at first because of what she did in her video game (very bad things, she's a Pokémon villain). Then one day, on 2017, on the night of the second to the last day of examination week on grade 6, I read a meme comic of Lusamine recreating a scene of the SpongeBob episode, Nature Pants, and it went into chaos from there. They've been paired more ever since then. The more SpongeBob memes I found of Lusamine being portrayed as SpongeBob himself on the internet, the closer they got in the daydreams 😭😔. Eventually, the previously active daydream world's main story came to an end and into its extra content stage, and getting stuff that's even unrelated to it. At this point, both of these Jellyfish obsessed fucks took over as the centering piece from there.

Eventually, Screen Universe was made in my head for them to fuck around in. At first, it was a "dlc" or extra content connected to the previous world, but it split itself from said world and became its own thing or identity in 2019. Screen Universe then kept growing, changing, and developing from there.

Now, on to the in-lore or in-story shit of Screen Universe.

Just a head's up, Lusamine in her original canon isn't... A good person. This would be definitely important to the whole Screen Universe lore bit since there is something in her Screen Universe lore that's tied to her canon lore because of how it affected said lore and her life in Screen Universe's story. Long story short: it was BAD. It complicated her life outside of acting out the canon storyline really quick.

At this point, both of them grew out of their characters and diverge too far or pretty far from it mentally or internally speaking. So don't expect both of them to be similar to their canon selves. This bit is especially important to their lores and themes of Screen Universe, so keep this in mind. I mean, there are characters in Screen Universe who are pretty similar to their canon selves, but not all of them. SpongeBob and Lusamine are two of the people who aren't like their canon selves.

For starters, they're this species called Fictionals. They're made for the entertainment of us audiences, specifically to play roles of the characters and act out their stories. They have this true form underneath their skin, and said skin is just a meat suit resembling a character used to portray said character. Yes, they're actors. Fake versions or imitations of the characters if you will. So you might see them or the other characters mention some meta shit their characters would otherwise not know, and some form of audience even they, the actors themselves, aren't certainly sure if they actually exist or not.

In lore or in the story, this all started when SpongeBob visited the Nintendo Empire (yes, there are big pots of lands based on the big video game and animation companies, they're called territories, and yes, video game and animated characters can co-exist together in the hub world called the Fictional Realm where they take a break from acting out their canons and do their own business there) and encountered Lusamine in a dark alleyway. Idk why, but in all versions of Screen Universe, they'd always meet up either within a dark alleyway or at the edge of a dark alleyway by the sidewalk. It's only the context that's been changed or developed over time. In the current context, SpongeBob made an excuse of just strolling around the Nintendo Empire one more time before going back to his homeland, the Nick Nation. But in reality, he's actually looking for Squidward and scanning the Empire for his whereabouts because of what happened to him in the events prior to this plot point. Then he encounters Lusamine at the edge of the dark alleyway, who was a newly made Fictional who fell from the sky (yyeeeeaaaahhh, they have an interesting way of being born, but basically no one has reproductive organs and their creators are the ones doing the work creating them before dropping them into their realm for safe keeping. But the Fictionals can live for a pretty long time as long as there's projects and acting work to do, so it works out).

Oh yeah, at some point during all that, there are other creatures foreign to them that tried to take Lus to their Realm because they... Like her too much. They're called Weblings and they're from another Realm called the Internet Realm. They're the embodiment of people's accounts on the internet, the most common one being the social media kind. SpongeBob saves Lus from being snatched in time and they both try to get away from the Weblings. They both go somewhere to eat, and Sponge tries to drop Lusa off in a place for her to wait for her senior co-stars from her series (in this case, Pokémon) to pick her up. However, she kept following him until it got to the point of stalking him home and hoping on the ride SpongeBob took to get to the Nintendo Empire in the first place. Just so you know, Nintendo Empire is rather far from the Nick Nation, so it'd take a while to make a back and forth trip between places. So when it was found out that his, eeerrrrr, new friend got in the blimp ship, he had no choice but to just go all the way back to the Nick Nation because they didn't expect that to happen or have enough resources to make an extra trip just to return some rookie game Fictional to her supposed homeland. He'd have to think about what to do with her after that.

When they got back to the Nick Nation, Sponge took care of Lus and nurse her back to a proper condition because when she fell from the skies before being found by him, she wasn't doing so hot and was struggling like a stray cat or a street creature back in the dark alleyway.

Then they spent more time together, bonding, Sponge guiding Lus about this new world around her and stuff. At one point, Sponge taught her a bit about morals like what's right and wrong... A bit too early for someone like her. This is especially important to the whole, "Lusamine was so fucked up in the True canon that it fucked up the Screen Universe counterpart's life" thing going on. Basically, that whole morality thing was either fuel or the start of her existential crisis because she later found out she was created specifically to portray a bad person doing bad things.

A month or so passed and the senior co-stars from the Pokémon series called up SpongeBob for them to pick up Lusamine from his place. At this point, they've grown somewhat attached to each other, and Lus didn't want to be separated from Sponge just yet. Luckily, the older human Pokémon actors agreed to let Sponge tag along since he's the closest to Lus and he's the only that helped her grow comfortable and adapt to the environment. They both went back to the Nintendo Empire, and then the first split in the story occurs. They part ways for now and they start doing their own things and go through their own arcs. But they meet up and visit each other every now and then throughout the story. It's mostly Lus doing the visiting since Sponge seems like a pretty busy person to leave his homeland often. He's the literal leader of the place, what more can he do when there's a lot of shit for him to worry about due to the events of the storyline prior to the "introduction to video game people" season/book/part. Then again, he was doing something else aside from that due to something else happening in his side of the story.

Anyways, Lus mostly visits Sponge ever so often during her break times or while she's sneaking off from acting work. She honestly wants to tell him about her new job as an actor and her smaller grievances in said job without spoiling her game's story. She also invited him to check out the live performance of her debut game before knowing her character's true canon nature. She later wants to take that back after knowing what her character is truly like out of fear over Sponge possibly hating her for playing as such a person, but at that point, Sponge already wants to check it out anyway. Dw, he doesn't care or mind about what she plays as as long as the actress herself is not too bad of a person. He's one of few known people who's chill around villain actors, both in the public eye and just in general.

When their respective arcs and sides of the story reach its climax or peak, Lusamine's side of the story interrupted SpongeBob's side because a co-star of hers from a different Pokémon game who plays a pretty similar role as her accused SpongeBob of leaking some major canon story bits from Lusamine's game because during her side of the story and her own arc, her off camera life grew miserable because a lot of people in her homeland mysteriously knew about what her character did in the true canon story and start attacking her over it. SpongeBob told the accuser that Lus didn't tell him ANYTHING about what happened in her canon story, just the behind the scenes stuff and what she and her co-stars are up to adjacent to it or outside of it.

Yes, the (replacement. Very long story) Ghetsis Fictional accused the SpongeBob Fictional of leaking Pokémon Sun and Moon's plot because the Lusamine Fictional got hate crimes for her character's actions way earlier than it should've happened (during production instead of after its release).

SpongeBob let the accuser and two other Pokémon co-stars (Cynthia and Lysandre) stay over a little longer and get to know them a bit better. I mean, he has heard of them and knew them at some point, but they're from mentions, the news, and other sorts of second or third degree information, never directly interacting with them outside of the time when they had to pick Lus up for her actor job at an earlier point of the story

At this point, it's SpongeBob who's now doing the visiting because of the news and the accusation. To the point where he even stays in the Nintendo Empire for a little longer in one of his visits that's closer to the game's release date (some time in September, mid or late October, or early November, I didn't decide when did he do that visit, but it should be one of those).

There's a story point where Lus ripped her skin off out of distress, fear, anxiety, and guilt from playing the character, the grave implications that imprinted on her, and her society conditioning her to feel those things because they hold their highest regard over what character and role someone plays as. And if anyone plays the villain of their canon story, they strip the actor's rights and normalcy, and sometimes even their life if it especially goes REALLY bad. It gets worse for the actor the more psychotic/fucked up the original villain character is.

And that's why and how Actress Lusamine despises her character so much (and to some extent, her creators for making the character that way and forcing her to not only play said character, but bear or keep the character's name and body too). She thinks it's the character's fault that she got into this sort of situation this early into her life. But at the same time, a part of her hated herself and felt guilty for acting out those scenes. As if, in some cruel cosmic sense, it's her fault for having such a role in the first place even though it was out her control.

Luckily and conveniently, SpongeBob was in the Nintendo Empire when Lusamine did the whole Peel Her Skin Off thing and found her in the same area where he first met and saved her. During all this, her other few major co-workers, both from her own Pokémon game and from other Pokémon games, went after her and looked for her together with SpongeBob. SpongeBob then tries to persuade and convince her to go back in the suit or else she might cave in to the intense and horrible pain she put herself into from being outside the character meat suit and die permanently (yeah, there are two kinds of deaths, permanent and temporary death. Temporar is more like fainting after going down to zero hp and being very exhausted. Permanent is a true death where they'll never wake up again). It took awhile, but eventually after reassuring that Sponge wouldn't hate or attack her for whatever might happen in her true canon, and that she can be whoever she wants to be despite being stuck to the body and name of a character, she goes back to the skin suit.

Then release of the game rolls around... And then the main antagonist of the story approaches. It's Mickey... Mickey Mouse. Throughout the video game characters' intro season/book/part/whatever segment of the story, he's shown to be harassing past actors in the flashback sequences and arcs, which includes the older Pokémon actors. That's why Cynthia, a character who's otherwise not a bad guy in canon, gets involved or intertwined with the villain actors' shenanigans and the Ghetsis actor had to be replaced with another Fictional to carry that role. Mickey did something to them that caused them to be in the situations they are now in during the present day. Mickey, along side with his group or organization, is also tied to SpongeBob's side of the plot and the acceleration of SpongeBob's issues and angst.

I feel like there's more to explain about... All of this, but we'll get to that some other time or post since this is supposed to be a Jellyfish Duo centric post.

Before going into the next section, I want to talk about Live Performances and how they work. A Live Performance is basically the actors reenacting the events of their source materials in their little workplace where they usually do recordings of their work. It's like their way of showing other actors what they do and can do, impress other actors, and often times, a tradition or a rite of passage for the newbies to exhibit what they learned and done during their production/development stage of their debut project to the older ones. Their workplace is a pocket dimension studio world thingy that has everything an actor needs for their work.

Anyways, now in the present events, instead of SpongeBob going first to try the Live Performance of Pokémon Sun and Moon the game, it was Mickey because, would you look at that, the game released on the same day as when Mickey as a character was born and debuted as a concept of a cartoon character, November 18. And as expected, the Pokémon LARP session went BAD! Lusamine almost died to the mouse she's trying to entertain multiple times because, "character=bad, therefore character's actor=also bad" bullshit and Mickey would always coincidentally get into a psychosis/delusional episode at the peak of a live game's story, which explains the suffering and bullshit the other actors had to go through to not be murdered by the mouse. Some even suspected that Mickey's bullshitting just to have an excuse to get off to his sick kicks, but they're not so sure about that. People tried to ban him from their own Live Performances in the past, their government was like, "money :)" and, "he besties with emperor Mario, so Mickey good :)" (ok, the latter statement was just an exaggeration, but you get the gist of it). So they just didn't get rid of him.

During most of the murder attempts during the Live Performances, Lusamine hit Mickey, both in normal form and in her big boss form, and just ram all she got into him like his face. Both out of impulse, and because she snapped after being attacked for her character's canon crimes for so long. This WILL be important for later :}.

After the whole Mouse x Pokémon gen 7 rampage went down, it was SpongeBob's turn on the Live Performance or Pokémon LARP sesh. It went smoothly and normal. Just kinda rocky here and there because he'd try to derail the story sometimes either for the fun of it or out of boredom, and the actress who's originally the main character in the canon Pokémon SuMo story was not having any of it and tries to rope things back to how the original plot line should go. There'd be times when SpongeBob and Lusamine would have secret and illegal meta gaming talks over the phone throughout the course of the live game because the latter who was waiting for her cue to show up got bored and wanted to talk to him and give her company. I mean, there are other co-workers around, but they're too busy doing their own thing, keeping the act running, reviewing their script, and all. So they talked whenever Sponge is not preoccupied with a scene. There's this one point where SpongeBob accidentally steps out of the overworld and into this void place full of code. It's like a skeleton of the world if you will. Lusamine had to guide him out of there without being suspicious of an important figure being in danger in her own workplace. Don't worry, he got out.

When the story got closer to Lusa's big reveal of her canon nature, her actress kinda freaked out and gave Sponge a heads up on what it "might" go down. Like, a warning, and the option of turning back, since she's worried that what Sponge reassured her was not fully true or that she's still unsure about SpongeBob's reaction ever since the whole Mouse crime attempt went down. SpongeBob still pushed through and progressed the story, leading him to That Plot Point of the story. They still talk about what was happening during that part of the story meta speaking in a form of morse codes without ruining or interrupting the original scene. While SpongeBob was surprised from the emotional whiplash of what canon Lusamine was like, Actress Lus was relieved that SpongeBob doesn't hate her or look her down as a person for carrying an emotionally heavy role as a reason of existing. He just felt bad for her and wished he didn't denied it out of grief, wished he had done something better than denying (yeeeeaaahh, he seen all the signs that point to Actress Lusamine playing the villain at work, but ignored them because he hated the thought of losing a newly made friend to a part of society and something that's out of his control due to past traumas related to losing friends).

They have more meta calls after that, but it's not as often as before because of how heavy the situation felt even if it's just an act. Then again, there are also other factors behind it, so there's that.

At the climax of the reenactment, they have a play fight that's more friendly than whatever Mickey has going on with the other actors. Anyways, that's how SpongeBob seen Lusamine's boss form. Oh, and there were multiple mistakes during that point of the reenactment because it's triggering Lusa's trauma of Mickey trying to kill her permanently. So they had to do over again and again until they got it right.

After all that, they finally cooled down, and went back to meta talking again. When the post game reenactment stuff came around, SpongeBob poke around and find out about what other stuff the game has in store before wrapping up the LARP sesh.

At one point, there was a post game bit that made him reflect on his actions back in his side of the plot and his character arc because he was becoming an asshole to a pair of characters while the whole disaster/existential angst inducing production of Pokémon SuMo arc thingy went down. He later thanks Lus for the Live Performance, not just for the general entertainment, but also for showing him see what he did wrong. Lus was oblivious to the whole thing and didn't know what he exactly meant, so she assumed that she just gave him some good entertainment with her performance. Recently, I thought of a scenario where Lus wants to have a Pokémon battle with SpongeBob not as her character, but as herself or actor self, so I thought of adding that in for the post game reenactment section.

Once the Pokémon LARP sesh wrapped up and stuff, the actors did their cool down and change out of their acting gear while Sponge does his own thing rating everything like the actors and their characters. The main priority of the rating are the actors, the rest are optional and not important.

Remember the rat? Well, he'll appear now.

So the rat bastard shows the fuck up again, and sues Lusamine because she punched and hit him back in his own Live Performance sesh (even if it's out of self defense). And then the whole trial arc ensued. It ended in disaster and a planned execution because Lus hit Mickey with her boss form, and her villain role puts her in a position that's less ideal than her opponent. So she's very much doomed from the get go.

Luckily, SpongeBob helped Lus escape prison and her perma death sentence along side with her co-workers and some of SpongeBob's co-workers and allies from his homeland. But now SpongeBob has to confront Mario and the legal side of the Nintendo Empire—

(Screen Universe part two is fucking nuts, I tell you 💀. It goes bananas towards the middle and the end. And this is just the Jellyfish Duo sections of the plot!)

(cont.) after taking Lusamine out of prison and not in a bailing way. SpongeBob negotiated with Mario about the terms and conditions of Lusamine's fate to ensure that she can still live without dying to legal consequences. Later, they agreed that she can stay with Sponge and in his Territory as long as she doesn't set foot upon the lands of the Empire's surface unless with the intent of going to actor work or under supervision. Basically, she got banished from the Nintendo Empire after all that happened.

I know we have all heard of or seen clips of the LSFM documentary.

1. I am actually so sick of people, might I add people who have no singing experience, job that has anything to do with singing or kind of teaching background or education in singing, not even criticizing BUT bullying Sakura over her vocals. We clearly know she’s been and idol for 13 years, stop bringing it up. She obviously won’t improve when people are basically calling her worthless 24/7 whenever she breathes. Hell I was an advanced choir kid since 6th grade and I still had a shaky voice and voice cracks when I would lose confidence. What she needs first is not vocal lessons but fucking therapy. Because everyone wants to be a critic, when their “critiques” aren’t even valid no real solutions of getting better.

ITZY’s Nabi vs JYP Entertainment: Full Breakdown of First Day in Court

On March 28, ITZY’s Nabi’s lawsuit saw its first day in court. Neither Nabi nor JYP Entertainment’s CEO were present in court.

Nabi’s lawyer alleged that JYP Entertainment would wrongfully interfere with the idol’s schedules, leaving her to have to clean up their mess. The most recent example of this was Nabi’s appearance on Unexpected Business.

Her appearance had been worked out beforehand for her to be a part of the show for four days before returning to Korea. On the day Eve was supposed to fly to America, however, Director Park Dakho told her that she wouldn’t be doing the show anymore. She asked if he had communicated with the producers of the show, to which he replied, “No, but when you don’t show up, they’ll get the message.” Nabi then messaged Zo Insung, one of the cast members, to tell him that she was facing a few difficulties, but that she would try to fix everything to be there as soon as possible. Nabi spent a long time fighting with Director Park before he told her that it was either she stay in Korea or go to America without the support of the company. She ultimately chose the latter option and travelled to America with her manager and bodyguard, paying for everything out of her own pocket.

Messages between Nabi and her brother, SHINee’s Key, were shown with the former asking the latter to come up with an explanation for her tardiness, saying “showing up and saying ‘oh sorry im late my company is the absolute worst’ just doesnt seem like a great first impression.” Key suggested she say she had problems with her luggage as an excuse.

On another occasion, JYP Entertainment interfered with Nabi’s acting schedules even though BH Entertainment was in charge of her acting career. A staff member from the set of Boyhood gave a witness statement, stating that JYP Entertainment would sometimes harass Nabi and tell her to leave the set early for no reason. It got to the point that Nabi had to turn her phone off the entire time she was filming until she had filmed all of her scenes for the day, or she would tell the company that if they wanted her to leave then they would have to fetch her from set. On other occasions, the company would refuse to let Nabi film certain scenes, such as the scene where she shares a kiss with Lee Siwoo. The company refused to let Nabi film that scene, saying MIDZY’s, her fans, wouldn’t want to watch her kiss anyone, leaving the director stressed about what to do. Nabi, however, pointed out that JYP Entertainment agreed to have BH Entertainment be in charge of her acting career and they had no jurisdiction to monitor what she did as an actor, and that if fans wouldn’t be able to watch her do her job as an actor and kiss her costar, they just shouldn’t watch the show as everything is fake and scripted.

JYP Entertainment’s lawyer hit back at these statements, saying that the company has a right to make such demands since they manage the idol, but Nabi’s lawyer hit back with the reminder that as her company, JYP Entertainment was supposed to do their best not to damage her reputation, but the two instances that were brought up showed that the company had no intention of protecting her reputation.

JYP Entertainment’s lawyer then stated that Nabi conducted herself in a way that was unprofessional, often ignoring staff members’ phone calls, not answering messages, and refusing to talk to some staff members. Nabi’s lawyer then clarified, with evidence, that the only people she was “unprofessional” to were the staff members that were in the back pocket of Director Park and didn’t do their jobs properly, they then presented names and evidence of those staff members and their incompetence. Nabi’s defence team brought up how in her until spring album documentary, there were staff members that admitted to not doing their jobs properly.

JYP Entertainment then argued that Nabi would speak to the staff in a way that was disrespectful, quoting her to say, “Don’t you have reading skills?” in a degrading tone, which Nabi’s lawyers immediately refuted, accusing the lawyers of misquoting her. They clarified that she said, “You must have no reading comprehension skills if you still don’t understand what was explained in the document,” in response to a staff member that was playing dumb and making the meeting time longer than necessary, preventing Nabi from attending other scheduled meetings.

Most reporters commented on the illegitimacy of JYP Entertainment’s claims, seeing as they were easily refuted by Nabi’s defence team. Another thing that was brought up was the fact that Nabi’s lawyer’s came prepared with evidence for each of their claims, while JYP Entertainment’s legal team only showed evidence once.

The judge asked that both parties prepare for the second trial that would take place on 4 April, with the final ruling happening by 11 April. Some netizens have already begun reacting:

I really wish i could be as chill and fun when discussing jongin but the reality is the origins of my kpop journey never called for that. I only liked eggsos music for a very short period of my life and once I heard the demo tracks that ended. For some reason knowing they didnt make their hits or even contribute past one line or two just makes me feel icky. I never liked the others past the bullying years of 2012 to 2016. I also cut off kji when I felt like he was also very inauthentic. I returned out of curiosity for my research of the entertainment industry. Most artists in korea act like they are in some hybrid between the military and a gang. I just cant take it seriously. Its a hybrid between american hollywood and a dictatorship. The industry still rubs me the wrong way as apparently child protection laws and human rights in south korea are a suggestion.

In the end I comment on jongin 1 because i still do see some ...potential is the wrong word ...life maybe. He seems to have more of a soul than most in the industry. So I still check for him. Yet I wont lie or be fake. His recent projects have been god awful. Sm has ran him into the ground and dont seem like they will be stopping anytime soon. He is the most obvious case of "industry mistreatment programming" that I have ever seen. I still cringe at times seeing the toll the industry has taken on him.

I do however understand many fans are either very quiet because they just want to enjoy and relax. And others want community and friendship.

I get it. That was never my intention. I have a lot of perspectives on jongin and his career and I feel like sometimes I should keep them to myself..but then other times I feel like thats very unfair.

Online their are people that write very objectifying, dirty vile things about him but that is okay cause they are being quirky...

like legit i was watching the new BURNER episode that came out just before i saw this one, and when i saw the crumbling of the show i was thinking to myself that 'geez i cant trust anything after ii' AND LOOK WHAT VID COMES OUT

im so grateful to the ii team for working on such an astounding show such as this, i truly cant believe its gotten this good and this deep. i became a fan when s2 was just starting out, and i have a lot of fond memories binging the series with my friend all throughout gradeschool. now im in highschool and i still love the show. i hope theres going to be more though !!! im really hoping to get a happy ending for all the characters, or at least some more closure if a happy ending is too much to ask for.

and the themes of inanimate insanity oh man!! i really like the direction the object show community has been going on this sort of meta commentary on the show itself, like i saw when i watched ONE, so seeing inanimate insanity go so much deeper now is a treat

in a way animationepic is mephone?? we are mephone?? everyone watching and making this show is getting a kick out of these characters' drama for entertainment and thats what we found out mephone has done to make them in the first place.. of course we as real people dont hold that responsibiity over fake characters. (which is what cobs and mephone think and must have thought too).

its a show about what is real vs what is fake and ultimately seems to be showing us that the relationships you form with others, those friends that you care about, can never really be programmed or faked out. the contestants rebel against the game and cobs because they want to live freely and because they want to protect their friends. its this love for life and others that makes us all human (well might not be the right word in this case hehe).

I FEEL LIKE ALL THE CONTESTANTS' PERSONALITIES WERE SO WELLSHOWCASED IN THIS EPISODE like their reactions felt real and believable for this kind of news, and everyone got a moment even if small (box was in too!!) (i really wonder if that theory i saw about box being a 'killed' contestant is right-- it seems like there wont be enough time to fit that backstory in but if they make that confirmed that would be so hype)

finding out everyone's personalities were pre-written by mephone4 in the last episode was one thing, but actually seeing them scribbled down in writing was so SJDKLA shocking??? it really slapped me with the reminder that mephone was pretty much just a child who was lonely and made his own friends.. his backstory is something i think about a lot i feel pretty bad for him :((( also imagine being the contestants and finding out god is basically a traumatized four year old boy

for some of the contestants, their programmed personalities i expected: cheesy is unserious, goo is inconsistent, salt is a trend setter and pepper is a trend follower. but a bunch of them came as a really big shock to me!!!

i think candle's said 'must be needed'? actually that works for her arc in iii but its still dangg that was embedded into her..

baseball having 'always strikes out' made me sob cuz THATS why he always seemed to come up short, i always had a soft spot for baseball he seemed to try his best but never really got it right.. and now its cuz he was made that way?

the plot was plotting this episode, really felt well-paced and tense, it was really fun to watch the scenes keep bouncing between all these groups of characters and i think they balanced the moving parts really well!

the ending. that goddamn ending. mephone taking cobs' hand again. when cobs extended it i just knew in me phone's face that he was going to accept it. hes still pretty much a young child. only a few months (years now ?) old. hes going to follow his creator because thats the one thing hes been taught and commanded to do. he just watched his whole world crumble around him, everything and everyone he made to escape this man and his cruelty, and he's just going to come back. of course he is. what else could he do now? hes got nothing just like cobs said he would. hes just a child and cant do anything right, cant have any friends that stay and are real and are his own. (the themes of abuse are strong in this one OH MAN)

Fandom is not an advertisement and I haven’t paid for anything that goes to him for years 😌 Pretending all fandom is “indirect revenue” to anyone who created a piece of media whether it’s a writer or anything else is disingenuous and performative and trying to control others to your arbitrary moral standards. You are not only reducing fandom to consumerism but dismissing many other people’s work as well. Pretending that something this indirect is causing harm is performative when people do things and Actually spend money on things that do real direct harm. I’m also suspicious of this attitude of “cut all monetary flow to bad people” because well while celebrities absolutely don’t need that money and can often use it for harm, “someone did a Bad and therefore they should not be paid” is a bit iffy to me. The degree to which money is power in these situations is subjective and I know it’s uncomfortable but whether one’s money is going somewhere it’s doing harm or not is your individual decision to make. I’m not even spending money on NG myself and im skeptical of what practical good “no more money” would do in this case. It’s largely symbolic. There are ways to cull a bad person’s influence that aren’t harassing random fans of work that was never even solely made by this guy on social media. I and others are perfectly capable of enjoying a novel or tv show while cutting support and acceptance of a writer. Discussion of this and not letting the issue be swept away is how we do this, not nebulous “you’re symbolically supporting a bad evil guy!!”. He did harm with his power and influence which we can prevent without being reactionary and acting like a work of art or adaptation are synonymous with the person who made them (and never made alone, even!!!) yeah, the x kafka fic has been so dry 💔. mostly cause there's been no new content regarding her in any of the patches and also cause so many new characters dropped. then again, i mostly consume your fics.

for me, biggest pet peeve is when they write her off as maybe too emotional or maybe too cold. like there'e never a balance. sometimes it never feels like im reading about her and just some oc😭😭

but i feel like her mischaracterization is not as bad as like acheron 💔💔 like why are just quiet girls written of as dominant and shit, she screams service top 2 me.... she would not call you mean names, she's the biggest gentlewoman out there ☹️ i think a lot of the women get a mischaracterized a lot, like acheron, ruan mei, jingliu.

the lack of new kafka fics out there definitely explains the reception to my fics bc yall are hungryyy😭 lack of content will never affect me thats my baby forever and ive been fixated on a game that’s had no new content since it came out in 2021, half a year without kafka wont make me uninterested in her character, trust… i dont often see her being too cold in fics i think its because ppl mainly want comfort so they tend to go for sappy stuff which is so real but kafka isn’t the most emotional character out there lol. what does too cold even look like omg she’d be so scary.

don’t get me started on acheron mischaracterization man. i really dont understand why people think she’s cold and mean or stupid when shes such a puppy. she’s a sweetheart with strong ideals and she holds insight most people dont have because of her connection to the nihility like she’s far from being an idiot but #these fakes acheswan fans will act like she’s the dumbass between the two and ouhhhh it irks me. so what if she has no sense of direction like😭 they’ll make acheron such a dom top which is fine cause i believe she can be but i dont see her being overtly dominant either, i can see her as a service top as well. she’s a sweetheart 😭 shes just quiet and keeps to herself. she canonically buys a bunch of gifts for the express just because she thought of them, wants to share the foods she likes with the tb, is obviously very empathetic and respectful… i dont get where the mischaracterization comes from fr.

jingliu gets mischaracterized as a mean bitch when that woman is alone 24/7 meditating under the moon be serious. she’s quiet but so obviously playful and loves to teach (which we can see in yanqing’s companion mission) like sorry she has to deal with her demons constantly and is slowly losing her mind to blood thirst and insanity so shes a little blunt and thinks there are better uses for her time than pleasantries. god forbid a woman doesn’t smile all the time and is focused on her quest for vengeance (RIGHTFULLY SO! FUCK YOU YAOSHI.)

im not a ruan mei stan so i wouldnt know but im not surprised because shes one of those “quiet, one track mind, disinterested in anything that isn’t [field of interest], disconnected from emotions” people so… on paper she really should be a favourite of mine but i just cant get into her so far idk

hey! i'm planning on writing a lol vampire au heavily inspired by castlevania and i want nilah as one of the protagonist monster hunters, but i have very little idea on how to write her. there are veeeery few good nilah fics (and i found only one that was nilah-centric) so i dont have much fan material to base myself on.

i find nilah really hard to write because we don't know a lot about her prior to ashlesh and writing a character that only feels ona emotion is a challenge. i still intend on making ashlesh and their deal a thing (although not necessarily as extreme as the runeterra version) but I really wanted to hear from the greatest nilah expert out there. do you have any tips/suggestions? what are things you feel are missing in most nilah fanworks?

first i want to say that most of fanfics out there are fine and there are even some of them i like a lot despite not agreeing the way they write nilah (i guess that's what we call creative freedom lol), and nonetheless im very grateful for people picking her to write about

that said, yes you are totally right, nilah is hella difficult to write, like god level difficulty, because not only you have to know nilah, but if you're going to write her having any interaction with another character you have to know that character too (more than superficial knowledge); for example, nilah often refers to another people by their *full name* or titles, so it's something you have to keep in mind (the only exception i can imagine to this is if she's faking not knowing something for the sake of a higher objective that cannot be achieved by the use of brute force)

nilah unending happiness might sound like a big problem, but it has to be one of the most chill parts of her character; usually people tend to focus too much on the happy side of the thing, and in fact she doesn't work like this!

nilah is happy all the time yes, but it works more like a feeling of excitement than of genuine happiness, and the thing is: nilah feels other things too. well, she doesn't feel them literally, but she *believes* she feels them, it's her human part rationally thinking and mentally pointing "oh now i should feel anger" "now it's a moment of sorrow" and the moment the thought leads to a feeling, it is immediately cut by her curse

nilah lives by her principles and values inherited from her human part and past, and that's what she uses to guide her. all her feelings are suppressed by ashlesh, so she has to rely on her logic, basically

the demon's influence feels much like a grasp; it feels like its hands tightly holds nilah's head; ashlesh is oppressive, he's always watching her... and she still keeps him in control through her rituals and meditations (and even with her intelligence)

people overlook this one too, but nilah is very smart and cunning; years of reading made her a walking encyclopedia, and her tongue can be as sharp as her urumi, BUT her spiritual training with the seventh layer order also made her mindful and sensible: she's smart, but she'll only use knowledge for good; she's cunning, but she won't be if unnecessary or for personal gain.

she weighs the consequences of her actions especially when interacting with other people (which brings me to another point that nilah navigates interaction by social cues, she guesses the pattern and goes by it cause 1) she only feels joy and 2) she's contacting another cultures and lands, so it's kinda of a process of trial and error)

also, if i may say, the impression "an intimate evening at oyster bill's" gives about nilah is that she can read intentions very clearly (probably an ability she got from ashlesh), she may not know why people act the way they do, but she knows when someone is lying or being honest (or threatening her)

with these explanations in mind, here's a quick guide by topics to follow when writing nilah

INTERACTIONS

she's very reserved about herself and her past - even when writing her paired with someone, i dont think she would talk about herself, her past is forgotten and she lost herself to joy, remember that

she's moderate when speaking - if you're going to make her sound happy, do it with balance, the only moment she sounds exceptionally happy and excited is in battle

she's not emotional (logically) - she wont act "in the heat of the moment", as i said, she's thoughtful with her actions

ashlesh also "interacts" with other people - tho of what we have been presented so far makes him looks mysterious, here i believe people SHOULD flex, go for your imagination

INNER THOUGHTS

if you feel like really writing her PoV, try to follow that idea of the logical thinking i explained above and keep it short and objective

you can also describe ashlesh's influence for that emotional seasoning (as i explained above)

but (and it's my personal favorite) you can also totally avoid diving into nilah's PoV for that mystery flavor that works so well with her - no one understands her and trying to do so can create interesting settings

MANNERISMS

she always uses people full names or titles - and in this case using titles when not sure about the characters full names can help, but i advise not overuse it

whenever nilah speaks with someone, insert small mentions of recitations during the interaction - with parsimony, the better use of it happens as a tool to drive conversations; nilah can use it to avoid a question, change topics or end conversations (and the inverse can happens too!!), be creative when use it and be sure to include meaningful conversations/interaction between her lil' recitations

nilah make use of mudras, hand gestures - they can be widely used to be honest (it's more frequent when she do recitations/meditates), but you can also make creative use of it (e.g. she inserts signs in the middle of the mudras to sneakily pass a message)

DON'Ts (personal opinion)

avoid making her childish like the hell

dont make her have the joker smile all the time please please please

she doesnt laugh at everything

this one is veryyy particular of me, but nilah wont go out there mentioning ashlesh name or saying things like "this is ashlesh the lord of joy, one of the ten kings, demon of the seventh layer and i control it blah blah blah" - even if she's asked directly i doubt she would give a full answer, AGAIN she's thoughtful and objective, she wont go out there giving this kind of information for free, avoid this

i think these are my main points, ofc dont let them hold yourself on some idea, i really dont wanna hurt any creative thought by somehow "imposing" my views

something that i always have in mind is that everyone is writing nilah's epic somehow, and i believe nilah would like to see everyone's thoughts about her turning into stories
