Lowkey I love that my thesis sounds fancy AF, but I hate it because it’s actually fucking difficult.
I’m doing computational fluid dynamics on comsol and it’s already a pain in the ass to model (it can’t even run yet).
Mmm ooo yes pipe deteriorating go *crashes pc*

Btw if anyone needs references for anything in game because they can't play them I'm okay with grabbing screenshots or getting clips if you send an ask or something
#idk I only got the comsole a month ago so ik how hard it can be to try and get references from playthroughs#PLUS theres generally not stuff from bonud dialogue etc etc#[words words words]

This bad bitch just did his first purchase order
#honestly how does that work that you just send list of info back and forth and then the stuff just comes and that gets figured out#like I know there's a department in companies that handles all the invoicing but there's so little information that I had to put in that do#how does that work that's so weird!#anyway I hope I did that right bc I really need the stuff I ordered very soon or I'll need to learn comsol asap#and I really don't want to learn comsol under time pressure

What have I been up to? Well more or less more optics.
I started to learn about the Index Ellipsoid, and I am beginning to understand how we can quantify a materials allowed polarizations using the "indicatrix" (not going to lie this is a hard word to spell lol)
I now understand that there are two possible electric flux densities (basically the quadratic equations +/- gives two roots, so when you solve for two possible refractive indices, you also get two D solutions) and that these two fluxes are orthogonal.
The index Ellipsoid let's us characterize anisotropic crystals into biaxial (two defined optical axes) and uniaxial (two axes are equal)
But honestly, I'm hitting a bit of a wall here. I just want to be familiar with the material before grad school starts. Since I'm self studying now, I decided to venture off into a related topic: Computational electromagnetics!!
I took numerical methods this winter so when I heard about Finite Difference Method I didn't look like a 🦌 staring at 🚗 lol (honestly I find Runge-Kutta methods scarier haha)
So I learned a bit about collocated grids, recalled Dirichlet boundary conditions, periodic boundary conditions as well as Neuman boundary conditions.
My plan is to use COMSOL multi physics to do a little simulation for my masters thesis, so I'm betting that having a grasp on the numerical side of emag is something I need to accomplish to bear fruitful results.
And of course I get hit with the realization exactly *why* plane waves are used to teach us optics: because they are simply a stepping stone towards us learning about Gaussian Beams!
The 🐇 hole just keeps getting deeper and deeper... 🕳️

found THEE original matthalle moment, which is surprisingly in the channel i have for notes on ‘i want to hold you (hostage)’ (at the time it was called ‘fuck the war. they are in love.’ after the line from gravity's rainbow. which i haven't read) tbh i thought it would have been in the channel for my notes on ‘there's nothing i hate more than what i can't have’
#this literally doesn't matter btw i'm just trying to distract myself from the horrors (COMSOL)#fun fact! originally matt ditched near and mello in the bar to go flirt with MISA hdhfhghfhfhhhhjh#neallopost

The Marangoni Effect
Also known as the Gibbs-Marangoni effect, the thermocapillary effect, and thermocapillary convection, the Marangoni effect occurs at interfaces with surface tension differences, often between liquid and gaseous phases. It can be defined as "the mass transfer along an interface between two phases due to a gradient of the surface tension." Often, this gradient is due to temperature differences, hence the term thermocapillary, but this is not a requirement of the Marangonie effect itself. Other terms, such as solutocapillary effect, are less commonly used when the effect is driven by concentration, instead of temperature. The Maragoni effect applies to soap films, the processing of silicon wafers, electron beam melting of metals, and, in everyday life, the formation of "tears of wine" in a wine glass.

I get the impression software companies like MATLAB and COMSOL don't care much about cracked versions. They aren't going to get money from individuals who are using them, who couldn't afford thousands of dollars. But if those individuals as their companies to use software with which they're familiar, companies who cannot get away with cracked versions...

[thru gritted teeth] tuesday! again! no problem!
laptop charger got delivered over the weekend so i once again can use my computer. also, revival of the 'playing' section of tuesdaypost!!
listening: more friends at the table but at a slower clip, on episode 41 now though!!! that's like 2/3 of the way thru! then i can power thru partisan and finally get to palisade lol. also new SSHG this week was fun.
reading: didn't read anything besides comsol documentation this past week EXCEPT i did go to the library today to get some paperwork notarized and while i was there i got some books as a treat. finally going to read every heart a doorway, and i also grabbed haunting of hill house, the gnostic gospels (pagels), and a beefy nonfiction book on the fucked up exploits of the roman catholic church through the ages. book :)
this was also my first time in my local library since it was remodeled and it's sooooo nice inside, im kinda obsessed
watching: some nicole rafiee videos, also the age gap one and the fatphobia one just as some easy background noise. also started on the well there's your problem train again
youtube
playing: BOLD RETURN OF THE PLAYING SECTION!!! i finally started playing disco elysium. it's fun! i am definitely enjoying it so far! wow my computer can Barely handle it!! it's crashed at least twice and it took some settings finagling to get it to run with any sort of bearable frame rate. quick save is my best friend but i have had to repeat convos a few times. it also drains the shit out of my laptop battery but that might just be normal for Games. my first shot at playing i died after trying and failing to ask the sweet old lady for money which rules. i also understand now why everyone would die for kim kitsuragi.
making: compromise for resurrection of the playing section means that i made Nothing this week. i did start Posting some old art on insta and here though. it's not too late for me to become an art influencer or whatever
misc: gritted teeth because hoooo baby i have been Doing Tasks. had to get some aforementioned paperwork notarized, had to file an insurance claim (waiting with baited breath to see how much my premium will skyrocket lol) (i did have the funniest interaction with a long island mechanic. just some old guy named vinnie, extremely italian, was asking what he though out of pocket price to fix would be and he was like "why the fuck do we even pay for insurance if you're not gonna use it" like yeah, fair,), miscellaneous household tasks because Puppy is A Lot Of Work, driving upstate this weekend for my brother's graduation, only like a week and a half before going abroad for two weeks (!!!), accidentally skipping a tabletop game because my schedule is a disaster rn,
