Hamilton-style musical of rendition of Robert Smirke’s crew and the fallout between himself, Jonah Magnus, and the rest of them.
Ambitious Scottish upstart Jonah Magnus, plunging into the scene of higher society and academia
Interpersonal drama in the esoteric research and philosophy sphere
A power ballad aria from Smirke as he describes his grand, utopian plans for balance
Jonah seeing the wonders of this new world and getting increasingly involved in it, probably getting in some heated theoretical debates with Rayner et al. about it because, being Beholding- and Dark-aligned, their fundamental views would be diametrically opposed
A slowly-shifting musical motif for Jonah as his intentions develop over the course of the play
Barnabas pleading with Jonah through his letter; they’re in separate parts of the stage with different lightings and they can’t see each other. Jonah is reading, rather than listening to, his words
SPOTLIGHTS REMINISCENT OF EYES
Harrowing solo as Jonah sinks deeper into fearing the possibility of rituals
More below the cut because I’m going nuts about this.
I would feel like there’s too much ground to cover (c. 1809 [estimated year Jonah gets introduced to the Fears if he established the Institute in 1818 and talked Smirke into working on Millbank 1815-1821] all the way to 1867 [year of Smirke’s death and the final decommissioning of Millbank: the year in which I place Jonah’s first attempt at the Watcher’s Crown]) if it weren’t for the several decades covered in Hamilton. It provides a pretty good guide for such a varied timeline.
More insane scenes:
Contrast of Albrecht Von Closen’s 1816 letter informing Jonah of his findings at his nephew’s estate vs Dr. Johnathan Fanshawe’s 1831 letter revealing how Jonah knowingly caused Von Closen’s death by stealing his books and got him filled with eyes
Smirke watching the group he formed fall to the Fears in turn, clinging to his alliance with Jonah and therefore being blind to his own turn towards Beholding
Jonah’s financial wheedling with Mordechai Lukas and other donors for his fledgling Institute
Jonah being so gleeful about his brand new Magnus Institute in Edinburgh, after several years of compiling statements informally
HE GETS TO DELIGHT IN ALL THE SCHEDULING AND LOGISTICS!!!
Just. all the letters we have record of. I haven’t even gotten to Dr. Algernon Moss or the conflict between George Gilbert Scott and Sampson Kempthorne
PETTY architecture drama

My next fill for @metalsandwichbingo !! It's taken a while since I got another job (night shift) and school has been crazy lately, but now that finals are over and I had some time, I finally managed to get this done. More coming soon, I promise!! Title: Lights and Sirens, pt. 2 Chapter Title: Rabbits Will Run Square + Prompt: C2, Interrogations Rating: Mature Word Count: 3086 Words Major Tags: Graphic Depictions of Violence Additional Tags: Pre-relationship, Alternate universe, Cop Steve Harrington, Murder, Cop drama, Mafia, Interrogations, Plot twists, Neil Hargrove being an asshole Summary: After a couple of months, Eddie, Billy and Steve have compiled enough evidence to take a run at Neil. After bringing Robin into the fold and getting a warrant from the DA, they search his home and office, and with a tip from Billy, they strike gold. The only issue now is that Hargrove is denying everything, and his excuse is one that is nearly impossible to believe. Also on: Ao3
It took nearly four months of meeting and compiling evidence, but finally, Steve, Eddie and Billy had gotten enough to open an investigation into Neil Hargrove. Billy took it upon himself to keep his phone on and recording whenever he was in the same room with his dad, and even though he often shooed Billy out whenever he was discussing something important, finally he’d gotten something. The video itself wasn’t particularly damning, but Neil made a crack to one of his cronies as Billy was leaving that if he stepped out of line, he’d be playing dentist with him, and he “saw how well that worked out for my wife, and I still got the tools”.
It wasn’t much, but it was something. And it made Billy wonder, how did his dad get those ‘tools’ that he was talking about? He knew he’d never have used his own money to buy something that he would use against someone, but if he could hide it within his company’s expenses, he just might get away with it. And, luckily for them, Hargrove Industries was a public company, meaning that their financials were also a matter of public record. They knew it was a long shot, but they decided to try and sift through the records, and even though it took a few days, they finally had something.
“So, what now?” Billy asked as he looked over the bank statement Steve had handed him. It showed a purchase for only around forty five dollars, which was unusual, since the company was mostly handling transactions of at least five hundred or more dollars. To have such a small amount on the statement really raised a red flag.
“Well, I don’t know if it’ll be enough for the DA to get us a warrant to search the place, but I’ll show it to her and see what I can do. She already got us one for these records, so I’m optimistic, but just in case, don’t get your hopes up,” Steve replied, taking back the paper. He was just hoping Nancy was feeling extra generous that day and would be willing to fight for their cause. He knew the judges hated to see her coming half the time, since she often would get her foot in the door and wouldn’t leave until she got what she wanted.
“And what should we do in the meantime?” Eddie asked, shifting in his seat.
“Nothing, just go about your lives and don’t start acting suspicious. If I get the warrant, I’ll let you know, and then you just have to act surprised when we show up. I don’t want anyone thinking you’re involved in any way, because that could put you both at risk, so just act natural or if you can, try not to be there when we come,” Steve said, packing his things. “Oh, and in the meantime, start compiling a list of the places we should be looking. Ms. Wheeler is usually pretty good at getting us whatever we need, so the warrant should cover everything, but we want to make sure we don’t miss something crucial, so whatever you can think of, let me know.”
“The only thing I can think of is a secret wall safe hidden in his office,” Billy said, fiddling with his coffee cup. “It’s like a walk in closet, but it’s full of file cabinets and I don’t know what’s in them. It’s really well hidden, but I think the button you need to hit to get access to it is somewhere in his desk. I guess if he would have anything to hide, it would be in that room.”
“Then I’ll make sure the warrant covers the desk and anything in it. I’ll be in touch,” Steve said as he stood and gathered his things. He had some work to do, not only to get the warrant, but now that they were going through with opening an official investigation, he had to bring Robin up to speed, too. She was his partner, after all, and she’d be able to offer some very valuable perspective. She hadn’t been obsessing over this case for years, so she’d be able to see things about it that Steve might’ve missed initially, and she’d be able to let him know if he was getting too involved.
Robin had told him before that he had a slight problem with getting too close to the cases he worked. She said that’s part of what made him a great cop, but it could also be a problem sometimes if it looked like he was taking the cases too seriously and got himself too involved. Not only could it jeopardize the court cases, but it could also put him into danger himself if he pissed off the wrong person.
He’d also started to rely on her to let him know if he was getting too close, because he often didn’t notice himself, but this time, he had. He’d come to realize that he was getting a little too concerned about Billy and Eddie, and he wasn’t sure what the best way to deal with that was. He had always been worried about them, being caught up in this as they were, but over the past few months, as he got to know them and enjoyed their company more and more, he realized that maybe he was caring a little too much. He had to keep this professional for the integrity of the case, but he was starting to see these guys almost as friends, and not simply because he was trying to get them to trust him and build a rapport.
Luckily, Steve had managed to convince Robin to come and meet him at the courthouse so he could talk to her and the DA at the same time. They met inside and Steve recounted everything he knew about it to the both of them, and as Nancy went off to get them their warrant, he and Robin waited in her office.
“So, I’m assuming I don’t have to tell you that you’re getting a little too close to this, right? Like, I know you can see that for yourself, can’t you?” She asked, leaning forward in her chair so she could speak more quietly.
“I know, that’s why I wanted to get your advice on it. I don’t know how to deal with it this time around. Usually, we deal with low-profile criminals, people who don’t have the world looking at them all the time, but this is different. One wrong move, and the media is going to be all over it, and if we swing and miss, then we might never get another chance at bat.”
“Which is why, for once, I’m thinking it might be good for you to get close,” Robin said. “I don’t want you to put yourself in hot water or anything, but it might be good for you to stick with these two, because they seem trustworthy, and if anyone tries to vilify you in the media or otherwise, then at least you’ve got some allies from the inside that will back you up. Just make sure you’re being careful, okay? I don’t need you to be the next nameless, faceless body we find.”
“Alright then, here’s your warrant,” Nancy said, coming back into the room with the signed document, “Let me know if anything pans out.”
“We will. Thanks, Nance,” Steve nodded, and he and Robin left the office, heading for the door so they could serve the papers.
It took a twenty minute drive, a four minute elevator ride, and ten minutes of bartering with a receptionist, but finally, they were able to gain entry to the Hargrove Industries Penthouse suite. After that, it took five minutes of small talk to the guy they were investigating before they served him the warrant, and after a few minutes of being argued with, they then had as much time as they wanted to search the place. Steve wanted to go right for that desk that Billy had mentioned, but he didn’t want to seem too eager, so he waited. He and Robin explored around the premises as casually as they could, looking through everything and finding nothing, but finally, they got to the office, and were able to search through the desk.
Steve practically tore the thing apart looking for some kind of button, switch or lever that caused any kind of reaction, but was coming up empty. Forensic techs were helping with the search, and he was hoping one of them would set something off on accident that would trigger the secret room to open, but nothing was happening. He was starting to give up hope, but the smug grin on Neil Hargrove’s face as he watched Steve disassemble his desk was the only thing he needed to keep looking, and finally, his persistence paid off. Inside the second drawer, there was a hidden panel that almost would’ve gone unnoticed, until an ant had crawled through a gap from the other side. Steve lifted the panel, and sure enough, there was an unassuming black button built into the desk, and when he pushed it, a door in the room opened.
Next thing he knew, he was back at the station with Robin, gathering the things they needed before heading into the interrogation room where Neil Hargrove was waiting. They’d left him on ice as they waited for all their evidence to be analyzed, and once one piece in particular came back as a positive match, they went in.
“How much longer do I need to sit here? I have better things to be doing, like calling my lawyer, for instance,” Hargrove said, crossing his arms and leaning back in his chair like a kid with a bad attitude.
“That is your right, Mr. Hargrove, but seeing as how you’ve not been arrested yet, I don’t see how it’s particularly necessary,” Steve replied. “This is just a friendly conversation regarding why you had some of these things in your possession. For instance, I don’t think a man such as yourself would have much interest in the macabre, and yet we found what appears to be human teeth and hair in your filing cabinets. Care to explain how they got there?”
“Are you hard of hearing, Detective? I said the magic word, so unless you’d like me to slap you with a lawsuit, I suggest you let me make a phone call.”
“And just what would you sue me for? Like I said, you haven’t been arrested, so you’ve not been Mirandized, and thus you are not entitled to a lawyer just yet. And your insistence on one is highly indicative of some kind of wrongdoing, so I guess we’re caught in a stalemate, here. Unless, of course, you want to start explaining, in which case I’ll arrest you, Mirandize you, and be all too happy to get your lawyer down here ASAP,” Steve continued to pry, even though it wasn’t technically procedure. “So, why did you have teeth and hair in your filing cabinets?”
“Is your partner always so brazen?” Hargrove turned to Robin to ask, and she just shrugged.
“Only when he knows he’s right about one thing and coming onto another,” she said, her face remaining blank. She was good at that, keeping a straight face when trying to get something out of a perp. It’s why she was the perfect ‘good cop’ to Steve’s ‘bad cop’.
“Fine then, I’ll tell you what you want to know,” Hargrove sighed, “But as soon as I do, I want my lawyer, understand?”
Steve nodded, he and Robin leaning forward for what they were going to be told.
“I only had those to protect my son. He killed my wife, four years ago,” Hargrove said, the words landing like a ton of bricks. “Lawyer. Now.”
As Robin took Hargrove to use the phone, Steve made a beeline for his desk to get the file he had on the Jane Doe from four years ago. The evidence he’d been waiting for had come back from the lab while he and Robin were talking with Hargrove, and it had just been confirmed. The woman he’d been trying to identify for four years was none other than Mrs. Kiara Hargrove, Neil Hargrove’s wife and Billy Hargrove’s mother. Steve knew that already from the DNA swab Billy had given him, but now that he had real, tangible evidence in the suspect’s possession, it made it so much more real. He also had the son of a bitch that killed her in custody, but now the guy was trying to turn it around on his son to save his own skin. It made Steve’s blood absolutely boil, and if he weren’t an officer of the law, he might’ve gone into the holding cell where they were keeping him and beat him until his face was as unrecognizable as his wife’s. Unfortunately, he couldn’t do that, so instead he sat at his desk and waited, staring at the picture he had of his victim, and trying to get his head together for the next round of interrogation.
“So, that was a twist,” Robin said as she set a cup of coffee on Steve’s desk. “I knew he’d be trying to fight this, but I had no idea he’d try to blame his own son. Crazy, right?”
“He’s a fucking dick, he’d throw anyone under the bus to save his own skin. But I know Billy wouldn’t have done this,” Steve fumed, “He loved his mom, he carries a picture of the two of them in his wallet. He still goes to the diner she worked at, so much so that they consider him family. That woman was everything to him, he told me so himself, and I believe him. His father, on the other hand, is a sleazy CEO that has gotten his way for so long that he refuses to accept anything else. He wanted his wife gone, so he got rid of her, and now he thinks he’s going to walk away? No. Not on my watch.”
“I hear you, Steve, and I want to put him away as much as you do, but remember, we have to be careful. One wrong move, and this guy gets off on a technicality. Nobody wants that, so take a breath, drink your coffee, and consider your questions carefully. As soon as his lawyer gets here, we’re going in for round two, so we have to be 100% prepared.”
She was right, as always. Steve knew he needed to calm down, or else the case might get tanked, and they only got one shot at this. It all came down to this.
Once Hargrove’s lawyer showed up and had a moment to confer with his client, Steve and Robin got themselves ready for round two. Armed with a few evidence bags and the cold case file, they opened the door to the room and went inside, Hargrove’s smug smile rubbing both of them the wrong way.
“I want to make this clear from the get,” the lawyer said, “My client’s only guilt in this matter is of being afraid of the man who killed his beloved wife. He was afraid for his life, which is the only reason he agreed to cover up for his son.”
“That so?” Steve asked, placing a few evidence pictures down on the table, “So, your wife’s teeth, her hair, the box of bullets that matched the ones from the scene, all that was given to you by your son so you could hide it for him?”
“Yes,” Hargrove said, not even flinching at the sight of the pictures.
“And you never had a chance to, say, go behind his back and bring it all to the police?” Robin asked, shrugging and crossing her legs.
“No, he made it clear that if I ever tried anything, he’d kill me. And as hard as it may be to believe, I don’t hate him. I couldn’t lose my son, too, not after losing my wife.”
“Right, your beloved wife,” Steve said, getting up and beginning to pace around. “Just how much did you love her? Because we’ve got witnesses that say that the two of you fought all the time. Hell, every few months she’d be back at her old job and crashing on her friend’s couch. Something just isn’t adding up, here. Tell me again, just how much did you love your wife?”
“Okay, you’re out of line, Detective,” the lawyer said, starting to pack up his briefcase, “I think we’re done here.”
“Oh, no, we’re just getting started,” Steve said, smiling as he leaned against the table. “See, I think your client is full of shit. I think he killed his wife, and now that he knows he’s caught, he’s blaming the only person he can think of to try and get out of it. I think he cut out her teeth, burned off her fingerprints, and disfigured her beyond recognition to try and cover it up. And I think that he thinks he’s untouchable, because he’s got money and power and friends in high places, but he’s about to get the rudest awakening of his life, because he’s about to learn what most of us have known for years. No matter how much money you have, no matter who your friends are, nobody is bulletproof. If there is even the tiniest rip in your armor we’ll find it, and we’ll throw everything we have at you until you’re behind bars, right where you belong, do you understand me?”
Hargrove didn’t say anything, even though Steve had gotten up in his face during his rant. He only stared at him, his eyes empty other than the clear doubt he had that they could do any of that. But Steve wasn’t just spewing nonsense, he meant every word he said. If he could, he would throw the entire book at this guy, and he wasn’t going to rest until he could at least get a shot. It wasn’t just about getting a bad guy off the streets, it was about getting justice, for Kiara, for Billy, and for everyone else this creep had hurt in his life. “Well, that was certainly a rousing speech, Detective,” the lawyer said, “But now I really think we’re done here. You’ve arrested my client, so I’ll see you in a few hours at arraignment.”

Republican Congressman Jim Banks sent letters in recent days to a number of high-profile figures in the U.S. far-right, saying that they had been added to a Ukrainian NGO's list of individuals and groups responsible "in the U.S. impeding aid to Ukraine."
The congressman alleged that Texty, the Ukrainian NGO in question, previously worked with the U.S. State Department and the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID).
Texty released a statement on June 13 that its team was facing "unprecedented pressure, manipulation, slander, demands to strip us of donor funding, and threats of physical violence."
Banks, who is running for Senate in Indiana, had said on June 11 that "other Ukrainian NGOs have published similar lists, which have published the personal information of those named in apparent attempts to intimidate them."
Banks added that he sent an accompanying letter to key congressional committee members, urging them to stop "partnering with any actors overseas who encourage the harassment of Americans."
Banks also posted on his personal X account that he was put on an "enemies list" that was "compiled by the Ukrainian government.
What's really behind the governmental funding allegations?
Inna Gadzynska, a journalist at Texty and one of the authors of the report, told the Kyiv Independent that the outlet has no connection to either the Ukrainian or U.S. governments, does not consider its report to be a "hit list," and did not publish any personal information.
Gadzynska added that Texty did not receive any government funding for the project.
The following day, Banks wrote that Congressional Republicans had moved to "defund" the "Ukrainian NGO that created a 'watch list' that consisted of conservative lawmakers and private American citizens."
The Kyiv Independent reached out to Banks' press office for comment several times, but received no response.
Elon Musk then commented below the post, saying that the NGO should be "added to the list of sanctioned terrorist organizations."
Rogan O'Handley, a prominent "MAGA influencer" active on X with the handle "DC_Draino," shared the letter he had received from Banks, claiming that "(President Volodymyr) Zelensky has added (him) to his 'enemies' list."
O'Handley then added that a "Ukrainian NGO 'funded with our tax dollars' has labeled me an enemy of their state."
Texty's report has been widely shared on social media, with false claims about the organization, the list's contents, and its connections to the Ukrainian and U.S. governments growing with every retweet.
Far-right conspiracy theorist and Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene wrote that Zelensky's "thug regime has deemed me an enemy of the state" and put "elected members of Congress like me on their state KILL list."
What exactly is Texty's report?
Texty's report, labeled "Roller Coaster: From Trumpists to Communists. The forces in the U.S. impeding aid to Ukraine and how they do it," was released on June 6.
The report contains an in-depth exploration of 388 individuals and 76 organizations involved in the "ecosystem of mutual support" of opponents of aid for Ukraine.
Texty's website states it is a media outlet founded by Anatoliy Bondarenko and Roman Kulchynsky in 2010 and has won several journalism awards, including the European Press Prize in 2024. Texty says its research is "funded exclusively" by its readers.
The claims about the alleged financial support by the U.S. State Department appear to stem from the fact that Bondarenko previously was a volunteer trainer at the TechForum Ukraine almost ten years ago.
The forum was a program from TechCamps, a "public diplomacy program hosted in the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA) at the U.S. State Department."
The program "brought together more than 60 local journalists, civil society, community leaders, and private sector partners in Eastern Europe with local and international technology experts."
"The two-day workshop helped increase digital and media literacy and gave participants the tools to communicate effectively in the 21st century."
Besides the single two-day workshop conducted almost 10 years ago, there is no other evidence to support the claim that the U.S. State Department or any other government entity has supported Texty, financially or otherwise.
In a statement on X on June 9, Texty said that it had "faced an unprecedented wave of hate" after the report was published.
"Claims that the list of U.S. opponents of aid to Ukraine is a 'kill list,' persecution, or doxxing, or that the Texty editorial team is trained or funded by the U.S. government is an outright lie."
Texty reiterated that "Bondarenko was a trainer who taught activists at one of the TechCamps" but said that it was just one of many training sessions it had conducted.
Gadzynska told the Kyiv Independent that Bondarenko was not paid for his work as a trainer. Bondarenko did receive a grant from the U.S. Embassy in 2020 to help "counter disinformation about Coronavirus," she added.
Texty also previously received USAID grants via other organizations, but Gadzynska emphasized that the report in question was not funded by any institutional donor.
In any case, Bondarenko had "no relation" to the report and did not contribute to it, Gadzynska said.
The aim of the report was not to "harass" or "intimidate" the individuals and groups named but rather to "openly and objectively examine issues that are key to our country's survival, such as who the U.S. opponents of aid to Ukraine are and why they oppose it," Texty said.
Gadzynska emphasized that the report did not call the listed individuals and groups "enemies."
Texty "operate(s) as an NGO and never takes money from the Ukrainian government," she said, adding that the outlet has criticized Zelensky "before and after the presidential election in 2019."
Gadzynska also shared with the Kyiv Independent some of the vitriolic and threatening messages that Texty received after the report was published, which insulted Ukraine and claimed that the report was an act of "declaring war" on the U.S.
Which other figures are mentioned by Texty?
As the title suggests, the report is not limited to the far-right politicians and commentators who are often the face of American opposition to Ukraine.
It also includes a number of prominent individuals and organizations from the left, such as the Quincy Institute for Responsible Statecraft (QI) and the "anti-war" organization CodePink, mostly known for its opposition to Israel.
Anatol Lieven, a U.K. journalist and director of QI's Eurasia Program, told the American Conservative media outlet that "it is completely inappropriate that a foreign institution that participates (in) training funded by U.S. taxpayers' money should use that money to try to limit public debate in the U.S. on a matter of vital U.S. interest."
Lieven has written about the need for a ceasefire in Ukraine and says that the war is "Russia's fault," but also regularly references Russian talking points, such as the unfounded assertion that "most Crimeans still appear to want to be part of Russia."
To support his claim, Lieven cited a survey by the independent Russian polling firm the Levada Center conducted in 2019 when Crimea was already under Russian occupation.
Previous polls conducted before the illegal annexation, such as one by the International Republican Institute in May 2013, found that only 23% of respondents wanted to be part of Russia, compared to 67% who wanted some form of autonomy within Ukraine.
In a co-written article with George Beebe published by QI in January 2024, Lieven wrote that the U.S. "will have to offer some serious incentives" to Putin to end the war.
"If we want a prosperous Ukraine with a viable path toward liberal governance and European Union membership, we will have to concede that it cannot be a NATO or U.S. ally, and that this neutral Ukraine must have verifiable limits on the types and quantities of weapons it may hold."
Lieven's comments were indicative of the wide range of narratives harmful to Ukraine that come from across the political spectrum.
CodePink, an ostensible left-wing "pro-peace" organization, also mentioned Texty's report, reiterating claims that Bondarenko "trains foreign journalists and media companies in the State Department's TechCamp."
While regularly calling for an end to the conflict, CodePink also says that "expansion of NATO and the aggressive approach of Western nations have helped cause the crisis, and we demand an end to NATO expansion." CodePink is also opposed to sanctions that "harm ordinary Russians."
Medea Benjamin, one of the co-founders of CodePink, has also repeated Russian propaganda talking points. In a November 2022 interview with Chris Hedges, a political commentator who has a show on the Russian state-owned media outlet RT, Benjamin falsely claimed that Crimea is a part of Russia and that Russian speakers are being discriminated against in Ukraine.
CodePink takes a "leftist position," Texty said, but "uses every Russian propaganda thesis to support its beliefs."
Tucker Carlson's allegations of Ukraine's 'hit list'
It is not the first time that far-right figures in the U.S. have falsely claimed that the Ukrainian government has created a public "hit list" of opponents of Ukraine.
After far-right political commentator Tucker Carlson interviewed Russian President Vladimir Putin in February 2024, a widely distributed post on X claimed that Carlson had been placed on a "kill list" by the Ukrainian government.
Carlson traveled to Moscow to record the two-hour and seven-minute interview, during which he seldomly interrupts Putin as he echoes Russian propaganda and shares false narratives on a wide variety of topics, including his justification for Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
In fact, Carlson had been added to a list compiled by the Ukrainian NGO Myrotvorets, which studies threats to Ukraine's national security, and has been in the Myrotvorets database since 2023.

this poetry compilation is filled with various works i created over the span of several months so far, and i'm certain it will continue for many more months. the title is inspired by "emails i can't send" (an album and song by sabrina carpenter), and i think it really resonates with the messages i've portrayed in these poems; a lot of these works were created in times of emotional, financial, or interpersonal hardship, and they're works that are very important to me. do not repost any of my poetry anywhere without credit. moodboard is by me; all images belong to their original owners or creators - they were sourced on pinterest, dm for credit or removal.
poem masterlist under the cut.
💌chapter one: "many names of a teenager" a social comment on the expectations and misconceptions surrounding teenagers in the modern age. no warnings.
💌chapter two: "the things they don't tell you" what is essentially just a (poorly written) statement on the idiocy of the concept of "common sense' in a world with so many differences. no warnings.
💌chapter three: "i am not myself" a series of couplets about the challenges of presenting as somebody that you don't identify with, in a body or life that feels foreign to you. no warnings.
💌chapter four: "i want to be" the need to be truly loved. no warnings.
💌chapter five: "he is everything" a freeverse on the relationship between musicians and their fans, written specifically about louis tomlinson but pretty much applicable to any major artist. no warnings.
💌chapter six: "simpler me" a freeverse on the idea of pretending to be someone you're not, specifically revolving around gender, because it's going to be societally easier than the alternative. no warnings.
💌chapter seven: "what if?" a freeverse of self-reflection following the end of a toxic relationship (not inherently romantic). no warnings.
💌chapter eight: "star in your sky" a freeverse of the idea of, essentially, not caring what you are to them, so long as you get to be something. the idea of loving someone so desperately and so overwhelmingly that you don't even care if it's barely reciprocated, just as long as they recognise your existence. no warnings.
💌chapter nine: "torn" the idea of not knowing whether you are helping or harming; if it's worth you staying to love them, or if you are doing more harm than good. no warnings.
💌chapter ten: "numbers" a poem on the things that can be counted in the relationship, and in its ending; and the things that can't be numbered. no warnings.

Understanding Java Data Types: A Comprehensive Guide
Java, one of the most widely used programming languages, is known for its portability, security, and rich set of features. At the core of Java programming are data types, which define the nature of data that can be stored and manipulated within a program. Understanding data types is crucial for effective programming, as they determine how data is stored, how much memory it occupies, and the operations that can be performed on that data.
What are Data Types?
In programming, data types specify the type of data that a variable can hold. They provide a way to classify data into different categories based on their characteristics and operations. Java categorizes data types into two main groups:
1. Primitive Data Types
2. Reference Data Types
Why Use Data Types?
1. Memory Management: Different data types require different amounts of memory. By choosing the appropriate data type, you can optimize memory usage, which is particularly important in resource-constrained environments.
2. Type Safety: Using data types helps catch errors at compile time, reducing runtime errors. Java is a statically typed language, meaning that type checks are performed during compilation.
3. Code Clarity: Specifying data types makes the code more readable and understandable. It allows other developers (or your future self) to quickly grasp the intended use of variables.
4. Performance Optimization: Certain data types can enhance performance, especially when dealing with large datasets or intensive calculations. For example, using int instead of long can speed up operations when the range of int is sufficient.
5. Defining Operations: Different data types support different operations. For example, you cannot perform mathematical operations on a String data type without converting it to a numeric type.
When and Where to Use Data Types?
1. Choosing Primitive Data Types:
Use int when you need a whole number without a decimal, such as counting items.
Use double for fractional numbers where precision is essential, like financial calculations.
Use char when you need to store a single character, such as a letter or symbol.
Use boolean when you need to represent true/false conditions, like in conditional statements.
2. Choosing Reference Data Types:
Use String for any textual data, such as names, messages, or file paths.
Use Arrays when you need to store multiple values of the same type, such as a list of scores or names.
Use Custom Classes to represent complex data structures that include multiple properties and behaviors. For example, a Car class can encapsulate attributes like model, year, and methods for actions like starting or stopping the car.
1. Primitive Data Types
Primitive data types are the most basic data types built into the Java language. They serve as the building blocks for data manipulation in Java. There are eight primitive data types:
Examples of Primitive Data Types
1. Byte Example
byte age = 25; System.out.println(“Age: ” + age);
2. Short Example
short temperature = -5; System.out.println(“Temperature: ” + temperature);
3. Int Example
int population = 1000000; System.out.println(“Population: ” + population);
4. Long Example
long distanceToMoon = 384400000L; // in meters System.out.println(“Distance to Moon: ” + distanceToMoon);
5. Float Example
float pi = 3.14f; System.out.println(“Value of Pi: ” + pi);
6. Double Example
double gravitationalConstant = 9.81; // m/s^2 System.out.println(“Gravitational Constant: ” + gravitationalConstant);
7. Char Example
char initial = ‘J’; System.out.println(“Initial: ” + initial);
8. Boolean Example
boolean isJavaFun = true; System.out.println(“Is Java Fun? ” + isJavaFun);
2. Reference Data Types
Reference data types, unlike primitive data types, refer to objects and are created using classes. Reference data types are not defined by a fixed size; they can store complex data structures such as arrays, strings, and user-defined classes. The most common reference data types include:
Strings: A sequence of characters.
Arrays: A collection of similar data types.
Classes: User-defined data types.
Examples of Reference Data Types
1. String Example
String greeting = “Hello, World!”; System.out.println(greeting);
2. Array Example
int[] numbers = {1, 2, 3, 4, 5}; System.out.println(“First Number: ” + numbers[0]);
3. Class Example
class Car { String model; int year;
Car(String m, int y) { model = m; year = y; } }
public class Main { public static void main(String[] args) { Car car1 = new Car(“Toyota”, 2020); System.out.println(“Car Model: ” + car1.model + “, Year: ” + car1.year); } }
Type Conversion
In Java, type conversion refers to converting a variable from one data type to another. This can happen in two ways:
1. Widening Conversion: Automatically converting a smaller data type to a larger data type (e.g., int to long). This is done implicitly by the Java compiler.
int num = 100; long longNum = num; // Widening conversion
2. Narrowing Conversion: Manually converting a larger data type to a smaller data type (e.g., double to int). This requires explicit casting.
double decimalNum = 9.99; int intNum = (int) decimalNum; // Narrowing conversion
Conclusion
Understanding data types in Java is fundamental for effective programming. It not only helps in managing memory but also enables programmers to manipulate data efficiently. Java’s robust type system, consisting of both primitive and reference data types, provides flexibility and efficiency in application development. By carefully selecting data types, developers can optimize performance, ensure type safety, and maintain code clarity.
By mastering data types, you’ll greatly enhance your ability to write efficient, reliable, and maintainable Java programs, setting a strong foundation for your journey as a Java developer.

I feel like it should be said that while the Plagiarism and You(tube) video isn't drama content, it is a drama video. hbomberguy literally admits to that. It's a callout post in the form of a video about another person on the platform. That's a drama video at the end of the day. There's a reason he talks about how he doesn't want to financially benefit from this, to suddenly know what it's like to have financial incentive to continue to make this content.
This should be a bit obvious to people watching the video but hbomberguy's opinion of drama Youtube in general is a bit low? I want to take that and extend it a bit further to form another thesis statement.
Drama Youtubers are not journalists, and inherently they cannot be relied upon to be trustworthy.
I want to at least start here with the group I'm more familiar with, which is speedrun drama Youtubers, aka if you keep putting Karl Jobst in front of my face I will very unpolitely ask you to stop. The big ones here that people tend to know about are Apollo Legend and Karl Jobst.
Apollo Legend for a very long time was persona non-grata in the community. Speedrunners broadly hated him, at least in part because he was the type of true bottom feeder that would make SPEEDRUN FAIL COMPILATIONS and then just steal clips from various speedruns to make it. But he eventually moved onto the kind of stuff you see more of from that ilk: the SPEEDRUN CHEATED!? videos and the videos complaining about GDQ being too woke to the videos defending neo-nazi RWhiteGoose.
*drops a gun onto the ground nonchalantly hastily engraved with CHEKOV on it*
But the drama videos were a big part of that. Cheating is just a really, really small part of what being a speedrunner involves even running into. There's not a strong incentive to actually cheat, because you have to cheat for a long time to get the kind of attention and prestige people think comes from speedrunning. It's ultimately still a pretty niche hobby, and even the idea of "having the world record" is ultimately not that important. Otherwise I'll have to make a callout post towards speedrunner and generally good person Punchy for ruining my OMORI speedrunning career by taking my world record only eight hours after I posted it.
Cheating just isn't THAT important. Most of the cheaters are really obvious, but they're also very rare. A lot of the problems you'll see in runs are genuine mistakes. They're missed rules or software difficulties.
Jobst is, well, he was good friends with known neo-nazi RWhiteGoose, believed that he should be able to say the N-word, lied about the N-word having no cultural importance in Australia, did pick-up artistry, and was actively a part in Goose's special little nazi server.
He is, at best, the kind of person who is okay being friends with Neo-Nazis and says shit like this
(note: this is at least four years old, for transparency)
These kind of people become natural fits for being drama youtubers, because the bar for what is acceptable in that sphere is insanely low. It's an industry where there is a financial incentive to bully, to lie, and to ruin people's lives. These people aren't journalists, they are content creators delivering you stories that will get them the most clicks and views regardless of how accurate they are.
An unfortunate truth to Youtube is that the financial incentives do not primarily benefit the people who go at it completely authentically, and when someone exists to make content as a product to sell to you, you need to be highly suspicious of them.

“Moral grandiosity seems to have infected the nomenklatura class of giant corporations. It is not enough for them to ensure that the corporations make a decent profit within the framework of the law; they must claim to also be morally improving, if not actually saving, the world.
So it was with Alison Rose, the first female chief executive of the National Westminster Bank, a large British bank 39 percent owned by the British government. When first appointed to the position, she said that she would put combatting climate change at the centre of the bank’s policies and activities. Whether shareholders were delighted to hear this is unknown.
But the bank, under her direction, went further. Its subsidiary, Coutts, founded in 1692 and long banker to the rich, compiled a Stasi-like dossier on one of its customers, Nigel Farage, before “exiting” him from the bank, to use the elegant term employed by Ms. Rose. (Defenestration will come later, perhaps.)
Farage is, of course, a prominent right-wing political figure in Britain, as much detested as he is admired. There was no allegation in the dossier that he had done anything illegal; indeed, in person, he had always acted correctly and courteously toward staff. What was alleged was that his “values” did not accord with those of the bank, which were self-proclaimed as “inclusive” (though not of people with less than $3.5 million to deposit or borrow). Farage was depicted as a xenophobe and racist, mainly because he was in favour of Brexit and against unlimited immigration. That anyone could support Brexit for any reason other than xenophobia, or oppose unlimited immigration other than because he was a racist, was inconceivable to the diverse, inclusive thinkers of Coutts Bank.
Ms. Rose saw fit to leak details to the BBC about Farage’s banking affairs, claiming to believe that they were public knowledge already. She did not mention the 40-page dossier that her staff had put together, about Farage’s publicly-stated views. The Stasi would have been proud of the bank’s work, which comprehensively proved him to have anti-woke views.
Whatever else might be said about Mr. Farage, no one would describe him as a pushover, the kind of person who would take mistreatment lying down. Even the Guardian newspaper, which cannot be suspected of partiality for him, suggested that the bank and its chief executive had questions to answer.
It was not long before Ms. Rose had to beat a retreat. She issued a statement in which she said:
I have apologised to Mr. Farage for the deeply inappropriate language contained in [the dossier].
The board of the bank said that “after careful reflection [it] has concluded that it retains full confidence in Ms. Rose as CEO of the bank.”
The following day, Rose resigned, admitting to “a serious error of judgment.”
𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐯𝐚𝐥𝐮𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐛𝐚𝐧𝐤 𝐟𝐞𝐥𝐥 𝐛𝐲 𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐧 $𝟏 𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐨𝐧.
The weasel words of Ms. Rose and the bank board are worth examination. They deflected, and I suspect were intended to deflect, the main criticism directed at Ms. Rose and the bank: namely, that the bank had been involved in a scandalous and sinister surveillance of Mr. Farage’s political views and attempted to use them as a reason to deny him banking services, all in the name of their own political views, which they assumed to be beyond criticism or even discussion. The humble role of keeping his money, lending him money, or perhaps giving him financial advice, was not enough for them: they saw themselves as the guardians of correct political policy.
It was not that the words used to describe Mr. Farage were “inappropriate,” or even that they were libelous. It is that the bank saw fit to investigate and describe him at all, at least in the absence of any suspicion of fraud, money laundering, and so forth. “The error of judgment” to which Ms. Rose referred was not that she spoke to the BBC about his banking affairs (it is not easy to believe that she did so without malice, incidentally), but that she compiled a dossier on Farage in the first place—and then “error of judgment” is hardly a sufficient term on what was a blatant and even wicked attempt at instituting a form of totalitarianism.
This raises the question of whether one can be wicked without intending to be so, for it is quite clear that Ms. Rose had no real understanding, even after her resignation, of the sheer dangerousness and depravity of what the bank, under her direction, had done.
As for the board’s somewhat convoluted declaration that “after careful consideration, it concluded that it retains full confidence,” etc., it suggests that it was involved in an exercise of psychoanalytical self-examination rather than of an objective state of affairs: absurd, in the light of Ms. Rose’s resignation within twenty-four hours. The board, no more than Ms. Rose herself, understood what the essence of the problem was. For them, if there had been no publicity, there would have been no problem: so when Mr. Farage called for the dismissal of the board en masse, I sympathised with his view.
There is, of course, the question of the competence of the bank’s management. Last year, the bank’s profits rose by 50 percent (I wish my income had risen by as much). I am not competent to comment on the solidity of this achievement: excellent profits one year followed by complete collapse the next seem not to be unknown in the banking world. But the rising profits under Ms. Rose for the four years of her direction seem to point to, at least on some level, of competence. How many equally competent persons there are who could replace her, I do not know.
Still, 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐲 𝐭𝐨 𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐨𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐛𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐝 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐚 𝐥𝐚𝐜𝐤 𝐨𝐟 𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝐬𝐜𝐫𝐮𝐩𝐥𝐞𝐬, as illustrated in this episode, is worrying. Would one trust such people if the political wind changed direction? Their views would change, but the iron moral certainty and self-belief would remain the same, like the grin of the Cheshire Cat. How many meetings have I sat through in which some apparatchik has claimed to be passionately committed to a policy, only to be just as passionately committed to the precise opposite when his own masters demand a change of direction?! The Coutts story is one of how totalitarianism can flourish.”
—
