Cosplay Update!!! Pretty much a year after starting on Lestat I can safely say that the only large element of this costume left is the jacket, smaller parts being worked on will be teeth and shoes. This has surprisingly ended up becoming my biggest project due to the attention to detail that has been required but I’m glad to be expanding my boundaries 😅 I’m hopeful for the end result but I certainly won’t be rushing it. Boot covers done! Now just waiting for Barge to dry as it adheres the foam to the bottom so I don’t accidentally slip and fall when I wear them. In 24 hours I’ll know if I’m good to go for these. Final coat of paint on the trim dry! Loving the look of this. That silver will really tie it in with the rest of the armor since it’s the same color I’ll be using on the rest! My first time using the drill-press (not on a practice piece) that my husband and I inherited from my grandpa when he passed earlier this year. I’m drilling pilot holes for the jigsaw to cut out the center of Curtana. This will be the part of curtana that’s light blue, and goes underneath the gold detailing. WOOT! My husband taught me to solder! I’m over the moon! This is a really valuable skill set, and I look forward to expanding on this and learning more. I’m very, very excited to get the lights figured out for the center of Curtana. More Paladin work, freeing Curtana from the plywood! The Sword of Mercy takes shape on the bandsaw as I cut her out of the slug in this time-lapse. I learned how to use a circular saw! My husband was patient enough to take the time to teach me so I could cut the slug out for Curtana. I had admittedly been leery of using such a powerful tool, I mean it’s in essence a handheld table saw blade, but with some good guidance it wasn’t a bad experience by any means. @squareenixusa @squareenix This is big. This is really big. The Paladin is happening, she’s not just a daydream of a cosplay. I am SO excited. I’m already learning allot, too. On the sword alone ill be learning boatloads of things, like these: Use a circular saw File and shape wood Use a router roundover bit Use a router rabbit bit Cut and paint plexiglass without accidentally turning it opaque Solder in general/ Solder LED strips to one switch/ Solder LED strips and switch to a power source WITHOUT blowing up LEDs or batteries. Gold leaf the cast filigree after making moulds and casting. My sword and shield are going to be primarily wood, with layered non-wood elements to make the details, like foam, clay, plexiglass and resin.
