hi i can no longer act coy or hope that a job will come in time so im coming to everyone really embarassingly with my issues

in June I attempted to get fired from/left my job after having a really embarassing public meltdown due to having Rapid-Cycling Mixed Bipolar and the unending stress of that job of 3+ years. I've been struggling to get a job afterwards due to being in CA without a vehicle, and i'm currently working on an overdue commission so could not open up any more.

Soon after, my mother's car imploded, and a series of incidents related to a used engine and taking out a loan with a friend has left her both needing to pay back the loan and still needing to get a new car, putting her thousands in the hole.

my mother has allowed me to not worry about paying rent while unemployed, but now the person living with us is moving out, so it will be on me and my mother to pay rent, upping mine from $300 to $500 a month. I am currently job hunting with good prospects, but I am still in need of some assistance.

Bulletin/Novus: Nine out of ten foreign-born people have holidayed in their country of birth

A new survey from Novus shows that over 85 percent of foreign-born people have at some point traveled back to their country of birth for a holiday. Among those who came to Sweden as refugees, the proportion who have holidayed in their old home country is 79 percent.

Holidaying in the country you fled from has become a topic of discussion in European countries in recent years. Bulletin has commissioned Novus to investigate how foreign-born people view repatriation, their children's growing conditions and holidaying in their country of birth. The sample consists of 1050 foreign-born people and the survey was conducted between 18 and 24 August.

The survey shows that only two percent of foreign-born people plan to return to their country of birth in the future, while 16 percent answer maybe. 76 percent believe that they intend to stay, among those who have come to Sweden from a non-European country, the proportion is 81 percent. 53 percent of foreign-born people believe that Sweden is a better country for their children to grow up in compared to their home country, while 9 percent believe that Sweden is worse than their home country. 33 percent answer neither.

Holidays in the country of birth

In the Bulletin/Novus survey, 85 percent of foreign-born people have visited their home country as a holiday destination at some point. Among those who came as family immigrants, 92 percent have traveled back to their country of birth to holiday at least once, while the figure is 79 percent among those who came as refugees. The group of foreign-born people with the highest proportion have never holidayed in their country of birth are the adopted, where 41 per cent have not visited the country of birth since they came to Sweden.

Novus points out that it is in the nature of things that those who participate in their surveys are reasonably well integrated in Sweden, since they answer questions in Swedish. The political conditions in their countries of origin may therefore have changed as time has passed.

But 79 percent is still a very high figure considering that we are talking about those who have come to Sweden and claimed that they are refugees.

In Norway, Aftenposten reported in 2018 that 24 percent of immigrants from Somalia, 40 percent of immigrants from Afghanistan, 55 percent of immigrants from Iran and 71 percent of immigrants from Iraq regularly traveled to their home country. According to Aftenposten, the data had been produced by Norway's statistical authority SSB. A difference with Bulletins/Novus is that the Norwegian figures are the proportion of immigrants who regularly holiday in their home country, while the Swedish figures report those who have travelled at least once.

Most countries allow people who have become citizens to return to their home country on vacation. At the same time, the fact that so many who originally came as refugees are returning indicates that the need for protection no longer applies, or perhaps never was so great.

The regulations for asylum seekers who have not been granted citizenship differ depending on the country. In Sweden, there are no restrictions for refugees who have been granted a permanent residence permit to travel back to their home country. However, refugee status can be revoked if it turns out that the person no longer needs international protection from their home country, and in cases where asylum seekers have been found to provide incorrect information about their need for protection. Other countries have stricter regulations. Switzerland, for example, does not allow asylum seekers to travel back to their home country to see relatives or vacation, except in very special circumstances. If this happens, the foreign-born person loses the right to continue to have a residence permit in Switzerland, according to UNHCR.

In Germany, too, asylum seekers' holiday trips to their home country became a political issue, as holiday trips were considered incompatible with the claim that one is fleeing for one's life and seeking protection in Germany due to danger in the home country. In a statement in 2019, Germany's then Interior Minister Horst Seehofer warned refugees that they would be investigated and stripped of their residence permits when traveling to their home country.

"If someone, a Syrian refugee, regularly vacations in Syria, he cannot honestly claim to be persecuted in Syria," he said, adding "we would have to strip him of his refugee status."

According to DW, for example, in 2016, investigations led to 66 refugees from Iraq and Syria being stripped of their residence permits, and were no longer considered to be in need of protection because they had gone on trips to their home country.

Angela Merkel has also criticized refugees' holiday trips to their home country, and said that it could be interpreted as meaning that the need for protection should be reassessed.

You can find samples of my work on my ao3, with my more recent works being the highest quality. I love writing fanfiction, especially of the series I’ve already written for, but what I make for free would naturally be less polished than what I would write on request!

While I am willing to write just about anything not on my exclusions list, I am most comfortable and well-versed with stories featuring themes of self-discovery, identity conflict, manipulation and control, speculative biology, and interpersonal conflict. Therefore, I am more likely to accept a commission with these themes as I am more confident I can deliver a satisfying product.

Those reading this page may already enjoy some of the works I have written in the past, including ones that I have stated could hypothetically have sequels at some point in time. If you are interested in paying for said sequel to be made, I may be willing to consider a slight discount on pricing given that I already have ideas (and in some cases early unfinished drafts) for said stories. In other words, if you want me to write a sequel to something, you can guarantee I will through commissioning!

Art

I often incorporate artwork into my fanfics, and for additional payment I can add art to your commission as well. My base price for these pieces depends on number and complexity, so it would be worked out on a case-by-case basis. Additionally, if you have artwork you made/commissioned from others that you want featured in your writing commission, please let me see and it will usually not be a problem or cost extra!

Terms and conditions

I reserve the right to decline or cancel a commission for any reason. In cases of cancellation (exception below) or if I am unable to finish a commission due to unforeseen circumstances, you will receive whatever I have already written and refunded the remainder if under half of the originally agreed upon length. If unfinished work is greater than the original payment, you will not be charged extra.

You may request that I not post the finished work publicly, in which case it will only be given to you as a pdf or word doc. However, I may use snippets of the finished product for advertising purposes later, but never the full thing. If this is a concern for you, we can discuss more in detail. I also reserve the right to not post a completed work to my socials, in which case you may do so but only under the condition that you keep my involvement anonymous (I don’t foresee this being an issue, but it is better safe than sorry.) In the case that the work is published to ao3, I request no mention be made on site about the work being paid for/commissioned, as site policy has rules against this!

I often ask friends if they will beta my work, and as such if you are adamant that the commission remains strictly between us that may incur additional cost depending on complexity. This is not, however, a guarantee that anything I write will have a beta reader. Upon delivery of the final payment, you will receive my final draft and may put together a request of minor edits and changes to be made that must not exceed an additional ~2 hours worth of work.

If the final product is +/- 1k words from the original agreed-upon estimate, you will not be charged or refunded for the difference. Anything under or over this amount will be refunded to you in full or will be added to your final payment amount. I will communicate to the best of my ability as soon as possible if it seems that the story will be shorter or longer than originally anticipated (though it will likely trend towards longer) and we can decide how to proceed from there. In some cases, additional payment or the removal of desired plot points and themes may be necessary as I prefer not to deliver a sub-standard work.

Do not use any of my works for training ai language models. If I find out you have any involvement in creating ai tools using stolen or scraped artwork, that is grounds for immediate cancellation of your commission without delivery of the unfinished product and without refund. I do not take that kind of thing lightly.

By requesting a commission, you agree to be held to these terms. Thank you.

Timeline

The timeframe of delivery of the finished project ideally would be ~1 week for works 1-5k in length, 1-2 for 5-15k, 2-3 for 15-30k, and so on. These are estimations, however, and depending on other factors may be completed more or less quickly. Progress reports come in the form of chapter snippets and synopses, in which case after the completion of a chapter I will send you a few paragraphs and a summary of events. You may make requests and adjustments, with the knowledge that time spent revising increases the time before the piece can be completed.

Depending on the length and complexity of the commission, I may close down additional commissions until completion. Additionally, I may close commissions if time is limited. Chapter length and number is up to you, with the acknowledgement that longer chapters mean fewer updates. Chapters must also be a minimum of 1500 words, so commissions under 3000 words will be written as one shots.

Homebrew Magic Books

Some thoughts for a couple of magic books that are not some variation of wizard spellbook. Because, unless you’re a wizard, there’s not a lot of reasons to get excited about books in 5e? Which I feel is an abiding shame. There’s around 30 magic books that I’ve found, and most of them are wizard spellbooks of some stripe, and then the Manuals/Tomes that increase a stat, and after that the pickings are very slim. So. A couple of thoughts:

THE WHISPERING DICTIONARIES

Wonderous Items, Uncommon

Commissioned from a master linguist by a great court of the ancient world, the Whispering Dictionaries are a collection of uniform, handsomely bound language primers that were imbued with the blessings of a deity of knowledge upon their creation. Though they are commonly called ‘dictionaries’, each one contained not only the vocabulary but the full structure of the language it was focused on. Since the initial creation of the original whispering dictionaries, copies of several have been made, and new dictionaries focused on languages not known or considered by that original court.

Each individual dictionary is focused on a single language, and whispers tendrils of understanding to any person that reads it. Any person who dedicates eight continuous hours to the study of the dictionary permanently learns to speak, read and write the language contained within it.

THE BOOK OF FORGOTTEN MEMORIES

Wonderous Item, Rare

This strange, heavy book is bound in grey leather, and a wispy quartz crystal is embedded on the front cover. The thick pages of the tome are completely blank upon first turning them. However, powerful and focused divination magics are woven into the parchment. This is the Book of Forgotten Memories, and it can retrieve what once was known, and is no longer. Any person who spends a full short rest holding and meditating upon the open book, as if attempting to attune to it, may retrieve one memory that they have forgotten, or one memory that has been removed or taken from them, such as by the Modify Memory spell. The memory does not return to their minds, and they cannot feel the emotions of the memory, but it is written in ink upon the page in front of them, and will remain so as long as the book is held open. Once the book is closed again, the memory fades into blankness once again, but the person can retain the information imparted to them as they would remember a story they had read in a book.

The Book of Forgotten Memories cannot retrieve information that was not at some point known to the person focused on it. It is possible to attempt to direct the book towards a particular memory or piece of information that the person knows they have forgotten. If the person does not know what information or memory they seek, the book will retrieve the most emotionally resonant memory it can sense. Each time an individual sits with the book, it will retrieve a different memory, if it senses more than one. However, the fourth time an individual uses the book, and each time thereafter, they must make a DC15 Wisdom saving throw, becoming enthralled by the book on a failed save. The enthralled person is stunned until the book is forcibly taken from them, and has disadvantage on Wisdom saving throws for six hours it is taken from them.

THE PROPHECIES OF IRANNA

Wonderous Item, Very Rare, requires attunement

This clumsily stitched collection of scraps of paper, parchment, leather and other miscellaneous materials is loosely bound in a stained, tan leather. The pages are blotched with ink, blood, and other, less identifiable substances. And the writings on each page are … eccentric, at best, and incomprehensible at worst, for a variety of reasons including handwriting, language, and sheer insensibility. These are the ‘prophecies’ of Iranna, a legendary mad sage, and a woman cursed, it is said, with the maddening touch of an allip.

In order to comprehend even a fragment of the contents of this dangerous scripture, a person must attempt to attune to the manuscript. At the end of the attunement period, the person must make a DC 15 Charisma saving throw. On a failed save, the person takes 6d6 psychic damage, and the attunement attempt fails. A failed attunement attempt does not bar a person from attempting to attune to the Prophecies again.

On a successful save, the person takes 2d6 psychic damage, and becomes attuned to the Prophecies of Iranna. Upon attunement, a substance will leak from the book onto their skin, flowing along their arm and onto their face, leaving three irregular, pallid motes or blotches to mar the skin around one of their eyes. These ‘motes’ are motes of prophecy, and are the result of their mind being torn open to possibility by the wild visions of the manuscript.

As an action, while focused on a creature, place or object that the person has seen, heard of, or knows of the existence of, they can choose to ‘expend’ one of these motes to learn a single, vital piece of information about that creature, place or object, at the DMs discretion. This piece of information may be a creature’s true name, a creature’s true form, the current exact location of the creature, object, or something precious or inimical to them. It may be a vision of one vital act that the creature committed, or a vision of one peril a place is host to. It may be one key piece of knowledge on how to access a hidden place. It may be a vision of the creation of the object, or one purpose to which it had been put. Whatever the piece of information is, it will be very important, and nothing can hide this information from the person, even effects which prevent divination magic, such as the Nondetection or Mind Blank spells, or even the interference of a deity.

Once a mote is expended, the person takes a further 2d6 psychic damage. When all three motes are expended, the person’s attunement to the Prophecies of Iranna is ended, and they cannot attune to it again. If the person ever dies as a result of the psychic damage dealt by the Prophecies, they will rise as an allip within 24 hours, and cannot be revived once this occurs.
