2. favorite canon thing about this character?

its hard to choose because there are a lot of different angles from which to appreciate the character (ie are we thinking about her redeeming qualities or is it funny that she is a bad person). Id say the fact that the wolf form is the canon "true" form so as a human all her actions can be interpreted through the lens of like, izutsumi style beastkin, but that applies to all werewolves and I want to think of something specific to her. I think the fact that she used to bully and antagonize (light hearted way) her older brother when they were kids is very cute and endearing

5. first song that comes to mind when you think about this character?

the first song is still feel by half alive bc its been in my head recently, but I don't think it's the best bc that song can be applied to about 1 trillion characters and situations. so i'll say the second one as well which is loss of life by mgmt

18. a relationship they have with another character in canon that you admire?

interesting phrasing here it implies I'd want to act similarly to how she does in whatever relationship I say. i kind of want to say almost all of them 😭 ok well definitely not at first esp with eiffel and hera but I think over time I like how shes able to learn from other people + work alongside them as well as her desire to protect them and keep them safe :) even people shes enemies with like hilbert or jacobi or lovelace at first shes able to work alongside and handle interactions with well ig. i'll say lovelace though bc 1) they are cute 2) based since day 1 holding each other at gunpoint <3 3) i won't say this last one

hiiiii Charlotte :) ty for sending these in! 1. First things first, did you have a good year?

First things first, yes,  I think I did. I think this was something I started saying in 2020, but it’s a personal saying that has persevered throughout this year and that is “Ups and Downs, but on average: Positive.” I think that’s how this year has been.

19. What was one nice thing you did for yourself?

I really like the Scottish comedian Daniel Sloss (highly recommend all of his specials, Jigsaw especially) and I found out in August that he was doing a US tour. Not only that, but his tour had a stop in a local theater on my campus (15 minute walk from where I live rn!!!). I have some friends who also like his specials so I immediately reached out to them and we coordinated and got 4 tickets together. That show was Nov. 4th and while the tickets were a little pricey, I’m really glad that I splurged a little because it was a good show and I got to connect like, two circles of my friends? People I’d met in the last year during college and some friends I’ve maintained from high school or earlier :)

42. What are you most proud of accomplishing?

I don’t think I can name just one thing to be honest, so I’ll name two areas of pride from different parts of my life. As a student and lifelong huge nerd, I was nominated by my university for both the Rhodes and Marshall Scholarships (2 years fully funded graduate study in the UK) and I was a finalist (sadly, didn’t get it) for Marshall. As a writer and person who’s been in fandom forever, I’m really proud of some of the fics I’ve written this year, in particular “Special Episode: Performance of a Lifetime” (w359 Kepler fic), and “every drop of rain singing,” (kanej fic). 

43. What have you learned about yourself this year that you didn’t know in the years prior?

This is...a very hard one to consider. I think every year is a balance in learning, changing, and re-learning, and so perhaps the things I say now will be different in the future. A few things come to mind though and I’ll list them briefly and without too much elaborate. 1) I...might want kids one day? Climate anxiety weighs heavily, the recognition of what responsibility that entails. And yet as I’ve considered my own relationship with my mother and my role as an aunt to 4 nieces and nephews. Maybe. And before I thought it was a definite ‘no.’ 2) I’m not as bad as cooking as I thought! I only just moved out on my own this year and I didn’t cook a lot before living on my own and it’s been nice to gain that sense of self-efficacy (still learning tho and open to recipe recs lol). And 3) that I can be a good roommate! I’ve shared a room with my sister before when I was younger and lived with family of course, but this year has been my first time living with non-family members and I live with 4 other people, so it’s been nice to find comfort with that.

1. What made you ship it?

I love telling the story of how, in the first episode of w359 I was like “ugh i bet they’re gonna get these two together, aren’t they? im gonna riot if they do” and then they didn’t get them together and I ended up shipping them anyway. i like the Dynamic

2.What are your favorite things about the ship?

Huhh that’s a good question. I would say, possibly, I really love Minkowski and I know Eiffel drives her crazy but I also think their dynamic is fun and he would lowkey simp for her. Their potential for banter is off the CHARTS which I adore. I really like them both and I think they’d be good together, yeah.

3.Is there an unpopular opinion you have on your ship?

Tbh shipping it at all is an unpopular opinion LOL i feel like it comes across as unnecessarily heterosexual and Minkowski is married (tho we like never meet her husband really and I just.... don’t care....) but they radiate bi vibes together and I really like them so whatever.

Enjolrac

1. What made you ship it? 

To be quite honest, I don’t know?? I know the first ever fic I read for les mis was enjolrac, your Christmas au, but you admit that their personalities are very skewed in that to fit the AU so I wouldn’t say it’s that. I think it was writing their dynamic in my fic Jump and the ECCR, where I was like.... hey, Enjolras/Courfeyrac is a very good side of this dynamic. and then I tripped and fell in love with the two of them both in that polycule and alone.

2. What are your favorite things about the ship? 

hhhh where do I start? It’s the childhood friends to lovers for me, but It’s also the quirky character dynamics, at least how I write them. I have gotten many many compliments on my Enjolras but I am aware others don’t always write him as I do. Still, the way I write them they’re both a lil weird and funny, and they’ve been friends so long that they are on a certain wavelength and that is very appealing to me. It has the banter appeal, and the steve/bucky “even if we have nothing we have each other” vibe from the friendship and the closeness. 

ALSO I get the sense it’s underrated as hell even as a platonic ship. OKAY i admit I haven’t read that much les mis fic, but the ones i have read often seem to have Combeferre and Enjolras as best friends and Courfeyrac sort of there some of the time, and that just spurs me on harder because im like “T-T if yall don’t appreciate it, I will”. lol.

3. Is there an unpopular opinion you have on your ship?

Again, ngl, I think shipping it at all is an unpopular opinion. I remember you and I browsed the Enjolrac tag on Ao3 and there was really crumbs for it, which is a sin. I see a lot of potential in their dynamic that I adore and I genuinely think they have lots of romantic potential in addition to their strong platonic bond.

fandom(s): ace attorney is my main one rn bc i’m replaying the games with a friend of mine and it’s reminding me how invested i am in the characters!! a lot of my recent fic is atla stuff, altho i’ve been distancing myself from the fandom bc i’ve kinda exhausted my interest in it. finally i’ve been reading a lot of mp100 fic but i don’t think i’ll ever write for it. i just love how dumb all the characters r (with the dubious exception of ritsu)

where you post: ao3!! tbh i always get suprised when people say they write/read fic on any other platform like i haven’t messed around w wattpad or ff.net since middle school... catch up........

most popular oneshot: going just by “one chapter” as the definition of a oneshot, the firestarters, bc it’s fluffy and modern au :) i wouldn’t necessarily call it a oneshot tho bc to me a oneshot shows like, one scene? so like by my definition and your sweet sweet sun makes me crazy (i wanna lay you down and see how you amaze me is my most popular!! (also @ kit u thought UR fic titles were unnecessarily long??? i’ve hit the ao3 LIMIT for characters in titles. it’s about the aesthetic

most popular multichapter fic: sdkjflakjlkj it’s two crowned kings; and one that stood alone, which is a w359 fic i wrote back in late 2017. it’s literally the last fic i haven’t orphaned from when i actually wrote podcast fic (i have 4 other podcast fics but they were all borne out of nostalgia and written after i stopped participating in the fandom). i rewrote all but the last chapter? the last two? about a year ago and i fucked up halfway through so like chapter 6 and 7 are repeated and there’s something missing but i’m too lazy to fix it. no one’s going to read it now anyway :) it WAS the top minlace fic for a little while tho which i take great pride in.

favorite story you’ve written so far: oh that’s a hard question akfsldkfj i honestly like most of them!! and i write a LOT so there’s a lot to choose from. tonight, we are young is def one of my favorites- it was fun to write and i got to explore the ways zuko and yue r similar, which i LOVE to do outside of a zukka/yukka view. you can lean on my arm as you break my heart  is one that i’m really proud of? the whole “cooking as an expression of bato’s love” is definitely some of my favorites. a lot of my ace attorney fics would be categoried as my favorites if i hadn’t improved, too, if that makes sense. like they’re no long my favorites because i can see where my writing is shitty and it bothers me, but if i had written them a month ago they’d be my favorite.

fic you were nervous to post: figures 1-5: killing gods def!! it’s a lot more purple-prose-y than most of my fics and it was also written before i’d kinda like emersed myself in the atla fandom so i didn’t have as good a grasp on the general understanding of zuko’s character as i do now. tbh it’s one i’m rly happy w tho!! i have a few people leave really nice comments on it and rereading them makes me really happy. also it was the start of me hating the position of fire lord and being at least passively anti-it in my fics.

how you choose your titles: they’re almost all song lyrics!! only 14 of my 50 words AREN’T song lyrics and about half of those are from before i started writing ace attorney fic lol. sometimes i go into a fic with a song in mind for the vibes and then i usually go with lyrics from that (like in ‘cuz we’re the greatest /they’ll hang us in the louvre), but otherwise i usually pick an artist i’ve been listening to and go through their songs until i find a lyric that fits. sometimes the lyric doesn’t even really fit the fic and i just chose it at random or because i searching up the word “fly” in my spotify library or whatever. honestly i like coming up with titles? i know a lot of fic writers hate it but being able to just use song lyrics is v soothing for me and while i know that most people won’t search out a song just bc it’s a fic title like.. seeing that the title of a fic is a hozier lyric does affect how i read it and i kinda like that.

do you outline? i outline my long form/multichaptered fics with varying strictness. usually anything over ~8k will have some kind of outline. sometimes i go into it with every single scene planned out, sometimes it’s just notes on the side of the google doc that say “it's about MORE family. about how it's not betraying your existing family to find more” and “scenes i want to include: [...]” and “vampires... ngl kinda hot.” i’m trying to outline super strictly less bc i’ve found it’s less fun? but i do try to keep a plot arc in mind. since most of my fics are more character-driven than plot-driven, that usually just means keeping track of what character development i want to happen or what is motiviating the characters. 

complete: um everything posted on ao3 i guess. also the MULTITUDE of orphaned fics out there asksfjldkj i always click ‘leave my pseud on’ so if u look up my username you see all of my fics and then a. lot of other ones.

in progress: - a fic titled ‘dad phoenix’ that is actually just a no DL-6 au with defense attorney miles edgeworth and single dad bartender phoenix where neither of them want to date for A While but phoenix gets wrapped up in one of miles’s cases. it’s about family. it’s about writing teenagers. it’s about the background franmaya which is ALWAYS what i’m here for in wrightworth fics - a franmaya werewolf/vampire au because i’m ~gay~ and love rivals to lovers and also franziska and maya both being angry their older brothers r dating each other. - my secret santa fic!! which i can’t talk about much but it does feature toph and zuko and also piandao and jeong jeong???? idk where they came from but they are Part Of The Fic Now also i forgot iroh existed for half the fic and wrote piandao as zuko’s father figure and now i’m in too deep. - a 5+1 bakoda fic (maybe a bato/hakoda/kay fic??? i need to decide. that’s part of why this fic is still incomplete bc i can’t decide which relationship dynamic i prefer) that’s 5 times bato said he loves hakoda and one time hakoda said it back. possibly i have already written him saying i love u back and i need to change the title a little. - retail au klapollo where klavier works at an overpriced boutique and apollo comes in to buy earrings for nahyuta’s birthday. klavier gives him a punch card (one that the store doesn’t actually offer anymore as a bid to get apollo to come back) and all of apollo’s family come in to use the punch card and also give klavier variations on the shovel talk/find out if he’s actually into apollo. - a LOT of atla fics that i don’t think i’ll ever finish :(

coming soon/not yet started:  - i want to write some blackmadhi bc they’re.. cute..... and it’s a good excuse to also write athena and i love her - my stuff for yueki week!!! i have NOT prepped enough but hopefully i’ll remember in time! i wrote the prompts in a way that kinda set up stuff i’ve already wanted to write (don’t look at me lol) so hopefully i’ll get at least two or three fics finished in time. - i want to rewrite the wrightworth fic i have about them not getting married bc it was interesting and i like what i wrote about but i think i could have written it better and made it more interesting. rewriting fics is hard tho bc i’m never sure if it makes sense to just edit in the new work or to repost it? and then if u repost it do u delete the old one? conflicting so i might just not

do you accept prompts? totally!!! a disclaimer tho i’m not super into writing atla stuff anymore (most of the atla stuff i’m still writing is  something i made a commitment to finish) so if your prompt is an atla one i probably won’t do it :/ basically anything else is fair game tho!! podcasts/aa/sa/uh i don’t remember anything else but like if you search a fandom on my blog and come up with more than two posts about it chances r i’d be happy to write fic for it!

upcoming work that you’re most excited about: oh huh i mean probably the no dl-6 au!!! it’s the longest ace attorney fic i’ve written already and since it’s wrightworth it’ll get more attention than any franmaya fic i write. my standards r so high now tho after getting to much feedback from atla fans... love u all... obviously i have no choice but to pressure my atla mutuals into playing ace attorney. pls ask abt it bc i WIll Give You A Sales Pitch about why you’d like it in relation to atla

Hi! Another Wolf 359 fan here. I've seen your post about wanting to make your own podcast (good luck!) and now I'm curious what those 5 things you didn't like are? Because I have some critisim too and I wonder if it's the same.

Hey! Thanks for the encouragement haha; we’ll see if it goes anywhere. But yea, as far as issues, I’ll list out a few things:

1. So yesterday i was way more worked up about this, but I’m still very eh on the ending with the amnesia. I forget who it was, but someone put it really well by saying that we needed some sort of in canon hint that Eiffel was still Eiffel, that some fundamental part of him was there and/or could come back. Because otherwise all that character development we witnessed for four seasons feels sort of…unfulfilled. Like, I can imagine a way that Eiffel returns to himself, but I’d prefer if they had included that seed in canon. Stories need some version of a happy ending. And this almost kinda missed it, imo. I get it, making people hurt through fiction is fun and all, but there’s lines. There’s a quote about this, but fiction’s first mission is to comfort and entertain. You gotta hit that otherwise there’s no point

2. I think this might just be a matter of my personal preferences, but I was expecting way more from the aliens! Honestly, the idea of learning how to contact a completely foreign being is my jam, and we were doing awesome on that front up until mid-season four. Then Eiffel had his meeting with Bob, and then Pryce and Cutter showed up and I was like “cool, we’ve established this thing with the aliens, now come the human big bads, now we wait for the aliens and P&C to meet and there will be some MASSIVELY interesting interactions there” And then…P&C had their exact same dynamic with Bob that they have with every other character. Like, laughing and being oh so clever. And that…didn’t make much sense to me. Not that i needed the aliens to kick their asses like they did with Kepler. I think it would have been awesome if P&C and Bob had been pretty evenly matched, but come on. It’s aliens. That conversation should have been way way wierder. And Bob can die; that’s fine. But…..then what? There are no repercussions for that? Idk, the aliens were the looming presence of the whole show and then they kind of…didn’t really matter at the end? Why?

3. Jumping off that point, Pryce sits a little off with me, if only because every other villain is so fucking fantastic. I’m not usually a big fan of appreciating villains, but *man* w359 made me care about and have wildly interesting feelings for every single villain. Except pryce. Which is a massive shame because she’s obviously the top dog and fascinating. I wish we could have gotten a better sense of her backstory, which the finale touched on, but it would have been great to have that fleshed out. And this might sound wierd but i think a way to make her as dynamic as the other w359 villains would have been to inject some moments of humor around her. I think humor is a massively interesting, powerful way for us to understand characters. What do they do or say that makes us laugh? Is it the horrified kind of laughing? Why do we find it funny? And I think one of the things w359 is so excellent on is its use of humor, and I wish they’d extended that to Pryce more. All the other villains had their moments where they brought us genuine delight, even if it was horrified delight, and I really really wanted that from Pryce. I found her a little flat instead. Standard evil misanthrope. I wanted a better sense of what made her tick

4. Season 4 overall felt a little off to me. Which is a shame because the opener was STELLAR, i mean, definitely top three episodes. And the first half was very good, with them trying to think their way through what the aliens want and having bucketloads of interesting, developing conversations. Like, things were primo. And then when Pryce and Cutter showed up, it’s like the pace started stutterin, imo, and it was all action and not enough introspection, i think. I wish they could have taken some of the wonderful character moments from first half and spread it into the second half. I would have made things feel less lopsided. We came back to meaningful character moments with the finale, which is awesome, but I could have done with more of that in the 5-6 episodes before

5. This is just general beef i have with a lot of media, but as someone getting a graduate degree in a scientific field, I kinda wish the show had had better representation of scientists. All the scientists here were evil and morally off, and it always rubs me the wrong way. Scientists aren’t morally corrupt just because we like to be driven by logic. I find massive wells of comfort and humanity in my scientific understanding of the world, and I always cringe when all scientists are protrayed as, like, unable to be compassionate and having no clue how to communicate well and always talking in that stupid science babble that no one understands. One of my most hated phrases is “ok, say that again in English.” (We know when we’re talking to people who don’t get what we’re researching. We can explain it in more layman terms. Like, that’s a skill many of us have, thanks.) Hera is kind of an exception; she’s very smart and understands science well and that’s not portrayed as a bad thing at all. And Maxwell’s image softened after her death, with her working to understand non humans. But still. I almost always want scientists to be portrayed more as, you know, moral and caring beings. ‘Cause most of us are, in fact, moral and caring beings

I think that covers most of it. lol i feel a little bad cause i feel sort of whiny writing all this. (I might need to make another list about all the things they did right). But the rest of this show has been so, so excellent, that the mistakes sort of stand out lol. But really. W359 has put a bucketload of gasoline on my creative drive, and it’s made some beautiful statements on humanity and identity and our place in the universe and how we understand and love other people. And goddamn, it knows how to be funny. That’s one of the things I always appreciate, when a story knows how to make you laugh and laugh at itself and that was so important to me. And it knows how to be terrifying! That’s excellent too! The characters are dynamic and fascinating and have room to talk to each other about their feelings. The music and sound design and acting are all to die for. I just. This podcast has been so important to me. Vital, even. And when you know and care about a story that much, you end up doing some nitpicking. *shrug*

Anyway, that turned into a whole essay. Let me know what your criticisms are? I’m curious. (Also, i hope it’s okay i posted this. I kind of want to keep this for future reference.)

and then outside of those you just get more and more niche and further and further away. eris and lovelace in the one special ep of w359 also fulfills this dynamic in a 30 minute segment of a podcast. but listen I don’t want to have to get into an obscure video game released 15 years ago for two scenes that fulfills these vibes (this is just a hypothetical I don’t actually have an example) (wait I guess mia and lana could be argued for?) (lol), or to read an m/f webtoon where it ISN’T even MEANT to be bait and they have .05% of the screentime (kill the villainess…..) like come on there are times I don’t want to scramble at the enrichment treat puzzle of painstakingly extracting whatever fulfills me from hostile text just give me exactly what I want. the epic highs and lows of psychological warfare between office ladies in an intricate dance between resentment and admiration.

[listless] finding an actual OL f/f with intense strange antagonistic heated drama would fix me. the closest I’ve gotten is sal jiang’s work. I do want to read something where one office lady earnestly tells the other ‘we’re just like those two guys from merry christmas mr lawrence’. can that be a tag on dynasty. ‘OL just like merry christmas mr lawrence’
