Arrive Early and Prepared for the Interview

A recent study by the Journal of Occupational and Organizational Psychology notes that a staggering 35% of interviews are decided in 5 minutes or less, thus a first impression is a massive part of the interviewer’s selection process. Arriving early and being prepared for an interview are essential aspects to an interviewee’s success in making a positive first impression on the interviewer, as it communicates professionalism before the interview starts.

Princeton Career Services states that following this step-by-step list is an excellent way to prepare for an interview:

Researching the organization, making sure to understand all aspects of their business

Developing a question list to ask the interviewer

Practicing potential responses based on likely questions (Google resume-based, behavioral, and technical interview questions)

Comparing your skills to the job requirements, making sure you can discuss how these skills are transferable

Dressing to impress! (see below)

Some tips for arriving early include:

Knowing the exact location 

Researching the amount of time it will take to get there, taking into account for possible delays due to traffic. 

Lastly, don’t forget to silence your phone and bring some hard copies of resume!

One day after rapping a guy called up and asked Street “Yoo who was that rapping over that Grave Diggers instrumental”...Mike said “Oh you talkin bout Shaqwan?” He replied “Mann I dont know what his name is, but shorty got mad skills”. And that’s how I got my name. By someone I never met at UofR’s radio station. I’m a dif kinda cat ✌️. . My day to day purse is about the size of a reg letter envelope - it only has room for my cards, some cash and my phone - don’t need nothin else really 🤷🏼‍♀️ but my gym bag .... . That shiz is supped up 🥊 . It has all the fixins .
