The Columbian sculptor Doris Salcedo is represented in "Columbia Recounted" by a series of photographs of her work "Shibboleth" (2007) in which she created a 167 meter crack in the floor of the massive turbine hall in the Tate Modern museum. Salcedo, who lost several family members to the political violence and social upheaval that have afflicted Columbian society, frequently addresses issues related to displacement, loss, racism and political violence in her sculpture. Doris Salcedo, Shibboleth, 2007, archival pigment inkjet print. #DorisSalcedo #art #sculpture #installation #Columbia #LatinAmericanart #socialart #ColumbiaRecounted #London #Tate #TateModern #turbinehall @tategallery @christiesinc (at Christie's)

Also included in "Columbia Recounted" is a re-installation of the sculpture "Cementerio-Vertical Garden" by Maria Fernanda Cardoso. Among the artist's other notable works is "Cardoso Flea Circus" in which trained fleas performed stunts. Cardoso spent six years training fleas in order to complete the work.
