AH, Luchabot you crazy little varmint.

A two-parter boarded by the supreme team of Ricky Garduno and Greg Colton, this was a script-driven episode written by Peter Hastings, who was the story editor for season 2.

It was pretty much Peter's baby - even the robotic tone that the lucha-botted students say their names in was his idea. No-one really 'got' this in the script, but he was on hand at the voice recording session to do an example of the voice and show everyone what his intentions were.

Interestingly how the writers were using the other students at this point, with this one following La Pinata's star turn previously.

Luchabot itself was my design, expertly Flashed by Ms Lili Chin.

Or the other one. Colton Cowser, the no. 5 overall pick in 2021 out of Sam Houston State, went 10-for-23 with four home runs during the six games in question, and in the process became the first Oriole to drive in 10 runs in a single series at Fenway Park.

That’s a pretty solid week at the office, if you ask me. The Orioles have been playing series at Fenway Park for more than 70 years, and in that time nobody had ever driven in 10 runs in one series — a three-game series, no less!

Gray Yeon

Apparently Gray is canonically a Taurus. I kinda agree and kinda don't.

He's loyal and patient but he's far from being materialistic or lazy.

He strikes me more as a Virgo honestly.

Analytical, observing and reserved. He used to be kind of cold too before Stephan, Ben and Eugene happened.

He used to be very reserved and skeptical at the beginning of the series but is extremely trustworthy and gives good advice to those he warmed up to.

Goes to show how far he has come. I'm so proud of him.

Ben Park

So Ben is, according to canon, a Leo. Let that sink in. A Leo. Bruh hell nah. Just no.

I think he'd be either a Cancer or a Pisces.

He's definitely the most selfless person right after Stephan.

He fits the description of a Pisces the most. He has the instincts of a wild animal and is adaptable when it comes to saving his friends. He's definitely sensitive, loyal, kinda clingy and very protective of his friends.

Now that I think about it, he could be an Aries too. I mean he is a great leader, enthusiastic, impulsive and very energetic.

Canonically, he's a Virgo which, I kinda agree with.

He is hardworking, kinda reserved and reliable but he's definitely not cold. He tried to be cold in middle school but that failed not-so-horribly in him saving the kid from the railway track.

I think he'd be fussy about his food cuz of his old man taste XD

He's also always been analytical and observing. An example of which would be him following Gray after gray beat up Colton, knowing that Colton wouldn't let it go so easily.

Alex is an Aries canonically and I definitely agree with this. Aries fits him perfectly.

He's enthusiastic and energetic. He is insecure because he thinks he's weak and hates it when Ben or someone else has to get hurt to protect him.

He has a desire to succeed and stand tall alongside Ben.

He can get moody and impulsive. He loves adventure. He even had his chunni era XD and can't stand boredom that's why he's messing around and skipping classes with Ben XD

Donald Na

Donald is a Capricorn according to canon, which fits him really well actually. Tho he could be qualified as an Aquarius too.

The only problem with him being a Capricorn is that he's not sympathetic or caring. Tho he would have a unique sense of humor I think. I hc that his sense of humor is either dark or dork and nothing in between XD and sarcasm. Definitely sarcasm.

Although Aquarius does fit him perfectly.

He is a progressive thinker and is intellectually driven cuz of his past.

He's rebellious, stubborn, emotionally detached, sarcastic and aloof.

Tho let's hope that he goes from an Aquarius to a Capricorn by the end of this manhwa *fingers crossed*

Wolf keum

This is a tricky one. It would be so much easier if we JUST KNEW HIS BACKSTORY AJHHEJDJEHRJJD.

Canon says he's an Aries. Which I don't know what to think of.

He is enthusiastic and energetic (only in relation to fighting). He is independent and extremely moody, impulsive and kinda selfish too.

He also has a low boredom tolerance but he definitely would not be a good leader. He's more of an uncontrollable wild card.

Does he have insecurities tho?? Everyone does right? So this mf should too. Let's just hope we get his backstory in this arc *tired exhale*

According to canon, he's a Cancer, which I am totally in agreement of.

Before his backstory reveal, I would've thought of him as Leo but afterwards, oh boy, he has so much more to his character.

He's actually really sensitive, loyal and dependable. He's also very protective of his friends (Jack). My man readily threw his precious pride out the window for saving Jack.

He's also very moody tho and can be a little self absorbed too sometimes. Especially when it comes to training.

He can also be misunderstood by people really easily. Just like how half of the fandom had (including me) before his backstory.

He can be really difficult to understand but is definitely the kindest to a select few people (Jack).

Jake Ji

Jake is another tricky one. Canonically he's a Scorpio which is a 50-50.

He is independent, passionate and very emotional (Ace's death broke this boy XD).

He is unyielding in his principles and priorities but has to dance around Donald's pinky cuz he owes him one (which is so unfair).

He can be moody too but doesn't let it influence his "work" or his actions.

Tho I don't know about him being possessive, jealous or manipulative. He does strike me as a possessive guy but he's definitely not manipulative. I don't think he has that many brain cells or mental capacity to do that XD

He could also be a Pisces or Cancer because he's dedicated to keeping his friends and family safe. He could be an Aries too, honestly, I don't even know anymore XD tell me what you think would fit him best.

Conor is very much an underdog story. After an unsuccessful attempt to break into F1, he returned to the states to try his hand at Indycar, his first love. This meant many years of one-off races, subbing for injured drivers and the occasional single season contract with a team. in 2020 and 21, he managed deals that allowed him to race full time, albeit with two teams, Carlin for ovals and ECR for road and street courses. In 2023 he is in the second season of a two year full time contract with ECR.

There is a 'what could have been' story. In 2011, Conor juggles duties between IndyNxt (then known as IndyLights) and GP3 in Europe, competing in 5 IndyNXT races and winning two of the first three, putting him in the championship lead. He then returned to GP3, only making it back to the states for 2 more races. His teammate, Josef Newgarden went on to win the championship and rose to Indycar the following year. If Conor had stayed and put the funding he had into IndyNXT instead of chasing what was ultimately a futile European dream, would he have had the opportunities Josef had? Won more races? Taken the championship from Josef? We will never know.

It could be said that Conor was born and bred for motorsports in general and Indycar in particular. His father is Derek Daly, F1, Cart (later became Indycar), and IMSA driver. His mother, Beth Boles, was an Indy 500 Festival Princess in 1978, as well as worked at Indianapolis Motor Speedway in several different roles. His stepfather, Doug Boles, is currently COO of Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Some of his earliest memories are at that track and others, as his father transitioned into being a TV broadcaster after he was born.

Conor is considered the friendliest guy on the grid and usually does the most to welcome newbies. He is something of an acquired taste, often over the top with his American patriotism (but doesn't really step over into the negative aspects of it). He's fond of using the weirdest phrases instead of swearing (lying sack of potatoes, cheating snake, etc), but does swear normally in unguarded moments (such as the radio during a race). He's a hometown boy, growing up just outside of Indianapolis. He knows the city inside and out. He has a self-deprecating sense of humor, making fun of all aspects of himself. A favorite descriptor he uses for himself is "A ginger diabetic with a bowl cut."

Good friends with James Hinchcliffe, Alexander Rossi and Marco Andretti. The four could be considered a 'band of brothers'. Conor lived with James for several months in 2016 (as did Alex Rossi) before moving in with Alex Rossi for a few more months (into 2017) once Alex had found his own place.

So her name is Kai. He's a robot and he's like- 86 years old by this point, because 128 years ago a person named Mako Storm was killed off by a sword. His then-friend now-friend Eli is an inventor, and driven by a mad anger he sought out to replicate Mako. He and his other friend, Serena, had to make three tries before getting it 'right', but however it took him 65 years to do so. My oc is the second one created, the middle child, the 'defect'. The first one changed his name and is now know as the older brother, who's name is Colton, or Cole for short. The third one, the 'perfect copy' assumed Mako Storm's identity and is best friends with Eli, tricked into thinking he just had amnesia. Everyone's lives were pretty decent. Calm, more normal then what most people expect. 

That is until the powers showed up.

Colton learned he could manipulate the natural elements using his singing, a power that bends to his will as he sings his heart out on stage. Fitting, because he's technically a theatre kid.

Kai found out from Serena who found out from Eli was that Mako had the ability to manipulate the unnatural elements, using instruments like violins or the drums. The other side of the coin when it came to Colton's powers.

However, Kai never understood her powers. He could manifest and control something, he just never knew what. He'd have to summon this using spoken word poetry. But, he convinced himself her powers are nothing more then just a poetic spark on him, the universe aligning to help aid his words.

Reinforcements coming as battle against Nova Scotia wildfires continues

Firefighters are scouring smoking forests looking for and extinguishing any hotspots they find as wildfires continue to burn out of control in Nova Scotia.

Officials from the Department of Natural Resources and Renewables say the wind-driven Barrington Lake fire has been tossing hot embers up to five kilometres in front of the head of the fire.

“You have all that unburnt fuel in between, and when we get those situations, we get what we call bays and fingers," says DNRR information officer David Knockwood. “So in this circumstance, those are actually burning off and connecting, so almost making a more straight line in between in a lot of cases.”

Counterpunches are a combination of fire crews and heavy equipment on the ground and a bombardment of water from air tankers. Three were expected in from Montana on Friday followed by two more on Saturday. Highly trained fire crews from the United States are also en route to provide support.

“I’m expecting them to arrive in the Shubenacadie forest protection area today [Friday] and get their briefing and get distributed down to us at some point today,” Knockwood said.

An expected shift in wind direction will provide resistance.

“We’re expecting a pretty extreme wind shift and it’s going to come out of the opposite direction, pushing the fire out of the east and that’s going to test our fire break that we’ve established on the east side for Barrington protection,” says Knockwood.

The ongoing battle against the flames has been difficult on firefighters and the property owners they’re trying to protect.

“We were like, 'We need to help people, we need to find a way to do it,'” says Natalie Harlow.

She and Alyssa Adams collected items and started the “Free Store” -- a place where anyone can pick up what they need from toothpaste to t-shirts.

“This is going to be a long haul. It’s a marathon, not a sprint, so we are preparing for that,” Adams says.

Jamie Goulden is going to make sure the shelves are stocked. The former resident of Shelburne put a request out on social media and residents in his new home of Clare answered the call. Truckloads of goods have come in. As for why he’s doing this, “I’m from here,” he says, holding back tears.

That’s the type of connection to the community that’s being felt by all Nova Scotians.

Argyle MLA Colton Leblanc says he’s been given a message from firefighters battling the flames.

“A heartfelt thank you for their support during these last few days, these challenging days, and it’s going to be tough days ahead with tough conditions.”

They’ll be up to the challenge with the support of so many behind them.

Review: A Very Merry Bromance by Lyssa Kay Adams

I’m afraid I must interrupt this most spooky of days with a review of a festive rom-com. I love spreading a bit of light and cheer wherever possible, so if you’re feeling a little gloomy today, you’re in luck as the latest in the gorgeously heartwarming Bromance Book Club series is VERY nearly here!

While this is the fifth book in the series, these books are companions to each other rather than direct sequels. However, they do follow a chronological order, so later books may have slight spoilers for earlier ones. Therefore, I do recommend reading them in order to get the full, feel-good, romantic experience. In A Very Merry Bromance, big time country rock star Colton Wheeler is still reeling from the effects of his night of passion with beautiful immigration lawyer Gretchen Winthrop. She seemed to be able to just leave the next morning without a second thought for him but Colton has since struggled to write good songs. Gretchen hates the excess of the festive season, as it just reminds her of how desperate her clients are. When her wealthy, estranged family offer her a place on the charitable foundation board of their whisky brand, it comes at a price -Gretchen needs to convince Colton to become the new face of the company. But Colton has conditions too. Gretchen must go on three dates with him before Christmas before he’ll sign a thing because he knows the spark is still there. Can he prove it to her?

There is always a reminder of the Bromance Book Club and what it entails near the beginning of every book in the series, so, you can just jump into this book even if you’ve not read the others. However, it’s much more fun to absorb the love stories of every member as they unfold, as it gives you a better understanding of the characters and the group dynamics.

The humour in these books is very much at the laugh-out-loud level. I love how Adams has managed to keep up the funnies throughout the series and not allowed the comedy to peter off in the later books. I think the comedy is somehow enhanced as you get to know the characters too. By book five, I really feel like these guys are my silly goofball friends and I laugh a lot harder with them.

Gretchen has a lot of issues around attachment and despite being beautiful and successful, she is painfully insecure in some ways. She believes that because her family are all money-driven and not particularly kind that she must also truly be like that. She seems to forget that her job is entirely revolved around making life better for those less fortunate than herself and still believes she is inherently bad. This is the main barrier between her relationship with Colton developing because she doesn’t think she deserves him. It was really beautiful watching Colton insist that she does and never giving up on her.

Due to the fact that Gretchen is ‘the grumpy one’ and Colton is ‘the sunshiny one’, their conversations are fraught with sexual tension disguised as bickering. They have such an easy conversation flow, even though they appear to be such different personalities but they clearly have a lot more in common than Gretchen would perhaps like to admit. Although the romance appears to be enemies-to-lovers, they definitely never actually hated each other. However, if that’s your bag, it does have that vibe at the beginning.

I love spending time with the women in this novel. The series is chiefly about the book club members (the bros), so the women aren’t really the focus but they somehow take starring roles. Liv and Alexis, in particular, are so cosy and I love spending time with them. Adams is very good at writing women who simply accept the other women that present themselves in the lives of the bros. These are outspoken, loyal, kind-hearted women that other women want to be friends with and hopefully, want to emulate.

One of my favourite things about these books is the regular references to romance novels, their tropes and how they manifest in real life. It’s almost a wink to the reader that says ‘I know I’m a romance novel’, giving it a witty, playful personality. It demonstrates the very thin lines between real life and the plots of romance novels, which could come across as saccharine and sickly but because it’s done with a slight tongue-in-cheek charm, it really works. In this book, we get some chapters of the Christmas romance novel that the book club is reading alongside the main chapters of the book. Of course, we can see clear parallels between both romances and this illustrates the connection between fiction and reality even clearer.

A Very Merry Bromance is an adorable rom-com that has its festive moments but doesn’t overdo the Christmas aspect. It’s set at Christmas but it’s not a very heavy feature of the book. It’s much more about the wonderful friendships, found family and of course, the sizzling romance. There are some definite sexy bits in these books and they’re served in just the right portions for me. Pick this series up for a unique, funny, light-hearted time!
