Second Doctor adventure 'The War Games' returns in full colour | Doctor Who

Intrigued by this. "The Daleks in Colour" wasn't great IMO, and this is going to be similarly cut down. That said, if there's a story with plenty of cuttable material, it's "The War Games." I'm most intrigued by the regeneration, which could either look great or terribly ropey depending on how they do it.

Today marks the 85th anniversary of the end of the Winter War. The 105-day-long defensive battle ended in Finland's defensive victory.

Finland preserved its independence and avoided occupation, but the defense came at a heavy cost. More than 25,000 Finns were killed in action, and approximately 44,000 were wounded. Finland lost ten percent of its territory, and hundreds of thousands of Finns were forced to leave their homes in the ceded areas.

The Winter War and its 105 days of honor have gone down in history as an example of a small but determined and resilient nation’s ability to stop an overwhelmingly powerful attacker.

Reconnaissance Detachment 7 (TO 7) from Separate Battalion 16 (Er.P 16), "Sassali's gang" according to its leader Erkki Sassali operated for Group Susi (Ryhmä Susi) on the northern flank of Suomussalmi direction during the Winter War. •••••••• Talvisodan päättymisestä on tänään kulunut 85 vuotta. 105 päivää kestänyt Suomen puolustustaistelu oli päättynyt torjuntavoittoon.

Suomi säilytti itsenäisyytensä ja välttyi miehitykseltä, mutta puolustustaistelu vaati raskaan uhrin. Sotatoimissa kaatui yli 25 000 suomalaista, ja noin 44 000 haavoittui. Suomi menetti kymmenen prosenttia pinta-alastaan, ja sadattuhannet suomalaiset joutuivat jättämään kotinsa luovutetuilla alueilla.

Talvisota ja sen 105 kunnian päivää ovat jääneet historiaan esimerkkinä pienen, mutta sisukkaan ja päättäväisen kansakunnan kyvystä pysäyttää ylivoimaiselta vaikuttanut hyökkääjä.
