Symptoms of color blindness
Color blindness refers to a person’s inability to distinguish between shades of blue, yellow, green, and red. Color blindness or commonly called color vision deficiency can hinder a person’s ability to view colors like normal people. Color blindness is completely different from blindness as in the case of blindness, a personal suffers due to zero visibility and limited sight.
In the case of CVD or color blindness, our eyes can’t distinguish between different colors. We come across a spectrum of vibrant colors every day, however, the number of colors we see everyday or their shades can depend on the response of the eye’s photoreceptors. Photoreceptor cells are found within the human eye.
These cells have the ability to respond to various wavelengths of light. Color blindness is a condition where people can see a few colors in detail, however, the fail to see the others. Most men are diagnosed with this eye disorder, whereas, the percentage of women who are color blind is comparatively less than men. The major reason behind this issue is the absence of a few cones or photoreceptors.
The condition also becomes common when the photoreceptors can’t function completely. Cones or photoreceptors help you to see the seven colors included in a rainbow. Consequently, if you’ve been diagnosed with color blindness, for example, if you’re blue-green shade blind, you won’t be able to recognize these colors. It’s important to get a colour blindness test done if you’re encountering any of these issues.
Should you go for a color blindness test?
We all tend to respond to colors differently- our response to each color can vary over the years as we age. The issue also results from age-based eye disorders such as cataracts and thyroid eye disease. Color blindness is not common, however, it exists in several families. For example, someone in your family has been diagnosed with this issue, you’re more likely to get it. Color blindness is a common disorder among both genders. However, the issue is common among men. It is because this disease an be inherited via the genetic code. Color blindness can develop gradually in life. In some cases, the disorder can be present at the time of birth, but its symptoms are visible later on.
In a few cases, severe eye injuries or serious diseases can lead to impairment of the visual system’s parts that are responsible for viewing colors such as nerves, retinal layers, and photoreceptors.
What are the different types colour blindness treatment available?
There’s no specific treatment available to cure color blindness. If the reason behind the color blindness is medication, a physician will recommend you a different medicine that’s free from side effects. Similarly, if a diseases or injury is the reason behind the color blindness, a physician can cure the underlying signs. Once the root cause of this issue is identified, it can help to treat the issue.
If the reason behind your issue is inheritance, the developing gene therapies can help you down the line. Meanwhile, you an consult a doctor to check out the types of assistive devices that can eliminate the issue to some extent.

Genius writing of Pavitr Prabhakar
They made an ass of a spiderman in theory yet he's my favourite out of all of them and naturally I'm thinking why.
Ignoring the aesthetic aspects like his sick design and his distinctive web slinging style. I think it's most interesting how they do this through the writing, the way they tackle his fatal flaw, his fat ego and blind optimism by creating a really sharp interval logic and communicating this within the space of 15 minutes.
Tumblr media
We understand that his big ego is all earnest and out of naivite rather than him putting down others. He just so happens to be the best and perfect, and therefore everything is great for him. He was given a blessing at a very young age to be a spider and he happens to be good at it of course he's going to be prideful how can it not be. And why would he not gloat, he's a perfect guy perfect grades perfect hair and he knows that makes him special. Especially considering the rest of the Spider-Verse, having a perfect one like Pavitr is unexpected so we're at least intrigued by him.
Tumblr media
But why do we like him despite characters with perfect lives and a big ego typically being frustrated. Using his humour the writers made his introduction it as playful as possible so we laugh at how him you know. One of the first things he says is "being Spiderman is so easy" and knowing he's been at it for 6 months it's super funny. He's also relatable, the successes he points out, skipping working out because he has a perfect body, having a girlfriend her parents don't know about, doing well in school are all things that are relatable to us especially if you're Indian, it feels like a real student who's living their best like. Also playfulness is maintained when they go to unglitch spots thing the collider scene, he treating it with even less seriousness "just another easy day of being spiderman" he says and is subsequently blown up - it's funny. We also can't get annoyed during that scene really being invasive to Miles' attempts and channelling the electricity so he's not being frustrating to us or to Miles, just a little naive. We can get humour from it but we also understand this as a flaw too because of the dramatic irony, we're hinting that he's not supposed to think this way.
Tumblr media
They also give him the nice internal logic making his mindset sympathetic by testing it within the movie. In the saving India scene, what's most notable is the line "I can do both" turning his idealism into tragedy when he's faced between saving his girlfriend and saving his girlfriends dad. The surrounding microelements and whatnot making the atmosphere feel dire which contributes to the tragedy. But it's that were seeing the life that he easily lives turning on its head. His mentality given definition as a this it will work out so long as I do it, a noble origin for his confidence. Though he knows he's special but he doesn't think he's any more valuable. "do both" showing no real bias towards to what directly affects him - he can empathise with his girlfriend and recognise loosing her and her dad would be devastating. He's not egotistical like thinking he's better than others, he's empathetic and values the people he saves as well as the people they value. The words "do both" colours his saving as this as being an overexertion, he's unaware of what he can't do solidifying his perspective of viewing this as easy coming from a place of naivite. Additionally he has to be the one to save people - "I can do both" - and this is why being Spider-Man is easy for him, it has to be. This all makes him more understandable and the fact this is clearly failing him and tragically makes him sympathetic. Moreover, we care about the love for his girlfriend and for his people because it was fun hearing him explain it earlier so its even more sympathetic that he's loosing what he loves. I think this also stops being a careful what you wish for where we could reproach him because of the scenery we understand him to have.
Tumblr media
It seems more he does everything because he's so loving, and he just so happens to be blessed and stuff. Which is super enjoyable to watch! and this burst of characterisation happens in like 20 minutes so like wowowowoowwwowoowowowowow
Anyway, this isn't the greatest most insightful analysis but I just had to ramble about my favourite boy!!

Best Pilot Training Institute In India
Tumblr media
Are you dreaming of soaring through the skies, feeling the exhilaration of being in control of a powerful aircraft? If so, then pursuing pilot training might just be your ticket to turning that dream into reality. In India, there are several institutes that offer exceptional training programs for aspiring pilots. But which one should you choose? In this blog post, we will explore the best pilot training in India and why it stands head and shoulders above the rest. So fasten your seatbelts and get ready for an exciting journey into the world of aviation!
What is the eligibility of Pilot Training In India?
When it comes to pursuing pilot training in India, there are certain eligibility criteria that aspiring candidates must meet. The minimum age requirement is 17 years for a private pilot license (PPL) and 18 years for a commercial pilot license (CPL). Candidates must have completed their higher secondary education or its equivalent from a recognized board.
In addition to the age and educational requirements, physical fitness plays a crucial role in becoming eligible for pilot training. Candidates need to undergo medical examinations conducted by authorized aviation medical examiners to ensure they meet the necessary health standards set by regulatory bodies.
Furthermore, candidates should possess good eyesight with or without corrective lenses and have no colour blindness issues. They should also be physically fit without any major disabilities that could hinder their ability to perform essential tasks required during flight operations.
Aspiring pilots need to clear an entrance examination which consists of written tests covering subjects like general knowledge, English language proficiency, mathematics, physics, and aptitude assessments.
Meeting these eligibility criteria is just the first step towards embarking on an exciting career as a pilot in India!
Which education is required for pilot training in India?
When it comes to pursuing a career in aviation as a pilot, the education requirements play a crucial role. In India, there are specific educational qualifications that aspiring pilots need to fulfil in order to undergo pilot training.
First and foremost, candidates must have completed their 10+2 schooling or its equivalent with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects. This is a basic requirement set by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), which regulates civil aviation activities in India.
After completing their schooling, aspiring pilots can choose between two paths: joining an aviation academy or enrolling in a degree program related to aviation. Many renowned universities offer bachelor's degrees in Aeronautical Engineering or Aviation Science, which provide students with comprehensive knowledge about aircraft operations, meteorology, navigation systems, and other relevant subjects.
Apart from formal education, candidates also need to possess certain personal traits such as good communication skills, problem-solving abilities, multitasking capabilities, and most importantly physical fitness. These attributes are essential for succeeding not only during the pilot training but also throughout their career as professional pilots.
In conclusion, Before embarking on the journey towards becoming a pilot in India, potential candidates should ensure they meet both the educational requirements specified by DGCA and possess the necessary personal qualities for success.
This will lay a solid foundation for them as they pursue their dreams of flying high in the sky.
What are the fees for Pilot training in India?
When it comes to pursuing a career as a pilot, one of the key factors that aspiring pilots consider is the cost of training. Pilot training in India can be quite expensive, but the investment is undoubtedly worth it for those who are passionate about flying.
The fees for pilot training in India can vary depending on various factors such as the type of course, duration of training, and the institute you choose. Generally, pilot training programs are divided into two categories: Commercial Pilot License (CPL) and Private Pilot License (PPL).
For CPL courses, which enable you to work as a professional airline pilot, the fees can range from around 20 lakhs to 40 lakhs INR. This includes ground classes, flight hours, simulator sessions, exams fees and other miscellaneous expenses.
On the other hand, PPL courses are designed for individuals who want to fly recreationally or pursue a career in general aviation. The fees for PPL courses usually start from around 10 lakhs INR.
It's important to note that these figures are indicative and may vary based on individual institutes and their facilities. Additionally, there may be additional costs such as medical examinations and uniform expenses.
While pilot training in India does require significant financial commitment upfront, the long-term benefits far outweigh the costs. A career as a pilot offers not just financial stability but also an exciting and fulfilling profession that allows you to travel across the globe!

ONE | SCRIPTS & BONDS ◄ ᴘʀᴇᴠ
The first read-through for Dharma happens three weeks later at a film studio in London. Although George allowed Daisy to sleep at his place last night, he didn't even say goodbye when he walked out on the girl deeply asleep on the wrong side of the bed. He wanted to be early as usual, and leaving coffee ready on the kitchen counter didn't fall bellow a No-Strings-Attached relationship, so he didn't bother. There are only Greta Gerwig and some staffers to greet when he's ushered into the venue.
"Y/N isn't here yet," George observes, tired blue orbs scanning the room.
"Don't worry," Alma smiles. She's already slipped a coffee cup into his hand, the way she always does in work mornings when she's well aware George is still half-asleep. The boy snickers to himself, his manager is so predictable. "She'll be here."
"She's probably still with Henry," George surmises. Y/N isn't known as The Witcher’s princess for nothing.
Alma shrugs, encouraging to slurp his Americano and mind his own business. George is well aware this chat makes him look foolish and inexplicably jealous. Thankfully, Alma gossips along, "I don't doubt for a second she may have slept with him last night. But she won't be sleeping in, I can guarantee you that." George tilts his head, asking for more in tell. Alma's red-stained lips stretch open in a yawn. "She always comes on the dot, apparently. Never early, never late."
More interested than he should, and with an amused grin, he consults the time on his phone. Nine o'clock. "Thirty more minutes, then." He places the iPhone on the table in front of him, next to his script. "Let's time her." Alma chuckles, shaking her head. George plays dumb, opting to dramatically smell his coffee before proceed and take another sip from his cup. He picks up the thick white booklet, lines already colour-coded per actor, and starts to read through it.
Dharma is set in 1857 India. Aakesh, a penniless Hindi boy —portrayed by Dev Patel, the main lead— has always known his social standing is a consequence of wrongdoing in his past life. Y/N plays Marina, a wealthy Spanish girl Aakesh believes to be his past life love and the trigger of his attempts to clean his karma. George's character becomes involved when Colonel Edmund Thorn (Michael Fassbender), concerned about the safety of his fianceé, Marina, assigns James as her personal guard. They fall in love.
Thumbing through the middle section of his script, where the plot starts to thicken, it suddenly dawns on George how much acting this movie is going to require of him. His character demands him to declare his devotion to Marina with mere gazes, words few. Still, each movement of his body vociferates a heartfelt love, deepest that any he's ever impersonated.
Tumblr media
George closes his eyes, trying to get in character. He imagines himself having this conversation with someone he desperately loves. He pictures Daisy in his head. Her thick, ash blonde hair and smiling eyes, the pink warm of her cheeks and the heat of her mouth when he kisses her.
It feels like cheating, though, because his character is supposed to be in love with Marina, and although Daisy is a girl he enjoys spending time with, he is not in love with her.
George's sigh exits in a long, laboured stream of breath.
"Everything all right?"
The voice is sweet, with an upward lilt to it. It sounds hesitant too, but like it's trying not to be.
The boy looks up. Y/N is studying him, dark-haired and flushed, the expression on her face shy.
"Oh, hello there," George smiles, clearing his head of its haze. He rises from his seat and extends a hand. "I'm George."
"I know," she giggles, holding it. Her palm is cold, whereas George's is warm. "I'm Y/N. I really admire your work. I’m a big fan… Probably had seen all your movies."
George can't help feeling a little sheepish at that. "Thank you," he says. Their arms fall back to their sides. "Same here. Without the 'I'm Y/N' part," he jokes, and he wants to slap himself for being that lame.
"Geo’s friend is a big fan of your boyfriend," Alma quips from behind her. She's too practical to ever get star struck. "I'm Alma, by the way. Geo's manager."
Y/N smiles charmingly as she shakes Alma's hand. And George finds himself in a daze, he loves the way she behaves, how her voice sounds like and the welcoming aura she irradiates.
<< The fuck is wrong with you?>>
"Nice to meet you, Alma." She turns back to George and smiles wider. She has small, pink lips; like petals. "I can arrange a meet and greet if you'd like."
"Thank you," George says, smiling back in spite of himself.
Y/N's eyes twinkle as she coyly shrugs her shoulders. She's wearing a tight little skirt George is sure Daisy owns too. It just doesn't look as good on her as it does on the girl who's currently in front of him.
"Whoa! Look at us getting along," she cheers, eyes transformed into two crescent moons, "Must confess I came prepared to try to break the ice." She seems to check herself then, pursing her mouth and laughing all of a sudden. "Sorry, that made it sound like we're going on a blind date or something."
George laughs along because her giggles are contagious and it is kind of funny. "We kind of are? We're playing star-crossed lovers and didn't even do a chemistry test. I'm pretty much going into this thing blind."
"Aren't we?" Y/N looks like she's glad to find someone in the same boat. "I was just telling--"
"Henry" George quips. His mouth stills awkwardly over the last syllable. He's not sure why he's letting himself be so familiar with this girl when they've only just met.
Y/N doesn't seem to mind, though. "Oh, no, no," she rolls back on her heels, "Henry and I are kinda...well..."
It puts George at ease for some reason. "Oh I see," he says affably with absolutely no bite to it, and Y/N's soft smile flashes again. "You were saying?"
"I was saying," she continues, "I was telling Dev about the no chemistry test thing, and he goes:" her voice fakes a man's voice, heavy British accent and everything, "you guys don't need it. Look at you both! Would look so good together.'" Y/N shakes her head a little, chuckling as she exhales. "I wasn't sure how to react."
"My friend Dean said the same thing," a smile creeps without George's consent as he confesses Dean's mischief. Y/N lets out a soft Oh. "I guess we just, I dunno-"
"You just have natural chemistry," Greta pipes up out of nowhere. She softly squeezes Y/N's cheek fondly. "Still on time, uh? You never change."
"It's all on Vanessa," she giggles with equal fondness. Vanessa is her manager slash personal assistant. George thinks the actress relationship with Greta is reasonable since they've worked together before in a movie he can't remember the name, but she stared alongside Timotheé Chalamet.
The director strikes up a bit of small talk about Y/N's last movie, The Selection, where she and Tom Holland bring the book to life in Netflix's screens. If George remembers it correctly, Holland plays a prince and Y/N portrays a commoner who is selected to compete for the prince's heart. The movie seems a cringe, but for some weird reason, George has decided to watch it once he gets home. Hopefully, Daisy will be gone by then, and the boy would stop at the convenience store to buy beer and popcorn.
George picks up his phone. Stealthily, he checks the time. Nine thirty-five. He and Y/N have been talking for approximately five minutes.
<<On the dot>>, he thinks to himself, recalling Alma's words. Then he hears his name. "Pardon?"
Y/N is saying, "I'll go sit with Dev. Catch up with you later?"
"Yeah, of course," due to his actor demeanour George can hide the disappointment trapped between his words. He understands she has to sit with Dev, their characters interact throughout the entirety of the film. "Do what you have to do."
"Talk to you later then," she shoots him a bright smile, her pink gums gleaming inside of it.
Greta is calling for the rest of the cast to take their seats around the square actors' table. Call it luck, but Dev and Y/N's sits are right across the chair labelled Mackay. The brit places his phone back on the table and slides into his chair.
"By the way," she says, turning around again. "Do I call you, George? Or..."
"Or?" flipping back to the first page of the script, he folds the cover back neatly as he questions the girl with his eyes.
"Your manager called you Geo." Y/N returns her inquisitive gaze. "That's your nickname?"
"Sort of," George laughs. "Very few people call me that way."
"May I?"
He shrugs, "Sure." As he rubs his palm over the script, he decides, on a whim, to try something new. How James, his character, calls her: "Ms Marina."
The crinkles in the corners of Y/N's eyes make the risk worth it.
"Okay," she says, walking backwards with her hands entwined. "Let's have fun today, Geo."
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"Flirty Thirty” A gleam of the eye, a quirk of the lip, and it isn't Marina talking anymore, is Y/N tittering.
The room erupts in laughter. George's laughing the hardest of all.
"Y/N," Greta scolds half-heartedly. "Don't break character."
"Sorry, G," Y/N apologizes sweetly. "I thought I would break the ice."
Somehow, George finds himself smiling.
Tumblr media
Today marks the fourth official Dharma read-through, and the tenth time they've gone over the entire script. George gets why Y/N is antsy; he is too. He can't wait to start filming in Mumbai, to smell the air of the streets, hear the whir of traffic and fast-paced Hindi. He can't wait to feel James in his bones in every take, the character encasing him, flesh and blood.
Fact is read-throughs are boring. So d*mn repetitive. George is just glad he's got perfect girl Y/N Y/L/N around to make things bearable.
Gerwig sighs in resignation. "Let's break for lunch," she says, addressing the entire group, "Reconvene in an hour."
George catches Y/N's eye and mouths, Padella? Y/N nods vigorously, flashing two thumbs up and a bright smile. The one the boy has grown fond of.
"I'm dying," George tells her a few minutes later as they walk to the restaurant. Luckily for both, it is near the film studio.
"Same here," she agrees. "One last read-through then India, here we come!"
"But we go through the script three times each meeting," George is half-whining, half-sniggering at the way Y/N's eyes roll to the back of her head. "We'll probably take even longer than usual today because of your little adlib."
"Sorry..."
"It was fun, though." Quickly, George reaches out to ruffle the hair on the top of Y/N's head. He wants to touch her. He just doesn't know why nor how and he doesn't want to make her feel uncomfortable. He cares too much for her. "Not a lot of laughs in this love story of ours."
Y/N doesn't bother smoothing down the mess. "Can you imagine loving someone as much, Geo?"
"Uhm..." George brushes a fingertip against his own fringe. He needs to get it trimmed before they start the live shoots. "I don’t know. Their love is something out of this world.”
"Yeah," Y/N watches the movement casually. "It is."
They get to the restaurant and the waiter, who is clearly a fan of hers, greets them enthusiastically.
"You two are so good looking," she gushes, but George knows the compliment is directed at Y/N. The waiter, who's tag reads Flo, merely is trying to be polite by her use of pronouns. "You get more and more dashing every time I see you." Y/N gives her the prettiest smile, and Flo enthusiastically looks at George, beyond happy for the reaction she got out of Y/N. George would be thrilled as well if the prettiest girl at Padella smiled at him in such a way...
<<What?>>
Padella has become a familiar haunt. They'd gone after the first read-through —when George discovered Y/Ns favourite food was any type of pasta— and every read-through after that, always ordering a dish they haven't tasted before and two glasses of wine. Not exactly in keeping with the diets, but George reckons these cheat days won't hurt. He and Y/N have taken to exercising together too, fitting in the gym sessions between their Dharma meetings and other schedules.
"I gained weight when I was a teenager," Y/N admitted during one of their workouts. "I had to work out to keep the weight off. Not like you." She'd smiled her sweet, bright smile, and George could imagine her being just as likeable with double the meat on her bones.
"I grow a beer gut like that," he'd told Y/N, snapping his fingers. "So I have to work it off, too."
In record time, Flo brings their dishes, leaving a courtesy starter on the table. George grabs his fork and swirls it through the fettuccini. It makes a pleasing, gooey sound as he incorporates the Pomodoro sauce.
"Oh, right, if I may Ms Marina," George says, giggling. The actress hums in return, mixing the contents of her own plate. "Do you want to come over for dinner tomorrow? My sister is cooking carbonara, your favourite."
"Oh my god," Y/N looks up from her dish, mouth-watering at the mere thought of her favourite food. "She won't mind me crashing your dinner?"
"No," George replies, slouching over his bowl. "She asked me to invite you."
"Really?" her orbs go a little round. "Why?"
A mouthful of bolognese disappears into George's mouth with a slurp, "I might have mentioned your love for Italian food."
Y/N takes a sip of her rosé, "Won't you mind me crashing your sibling dinner?"
"Nah," he smiles. “We're friends." He swallows the food he's chewed into the side of his cheek and tries not to meet Y/N's eyes. "I kind of like hanging out with you."
"Oh," she answers instantly, so blasé, pink across her cheeks. George adores it. "I kind of like hanging out with you, too."
George glances up then, and they share a knowing smile before going back to their food. It's oily and red, a little salty. George knows he's going to have to wash his teeth and throw a box of mints into his mouth before they go back to the read-through, but he doesn't care. It's delicious.
Their comfortable silence is broken when Y/N's phone rings inside her Rebecca Minkoff’s bag. She pulls it out, glances at the screen, and gestures to George that she's going to take it outside.
"I'll be right back," she says; tongue running over her teeth. The boy nods, just as Y/N answers the call and turns.
"Hey, H," George hears her say as she pushes through the door. "What's up?"
Cavill, he thinks to himself, sucking up to another curtain of fettuccini.
Fleetingly, he wonders if he should tell Y/N to bring a date—as in Henry. But the idea is pushed to the back of his mind when Flo comes by their table to ask if they would want more wine, and it doesn't resurface, not even when Y/N strolls back in from her private call.
Tumblr media
In her pale silk blouse and tight little skirt, the one Y/N owns too, Daisy looks every bit as gorgeous as she does in her Basic House ads. George gotta admit. Yet he feels a little itch when he looks at her, it bothers him, so he focuses his attention on the other Daisy in the room. His sister.
She's setting down a plate of sour bread on his dinner table, her hair tied back in a ponytail. Luhan watches her lazily, admiring the classy decoration of the table. It looks out of a restaurant. Much better than Padella's.
"Since when my sister's become a chef?" he says playfully. His sister giggles in response, her attention too immersed in the preparations. She wants it all to be perfect. Scratch that, more than perfect.
Only then George returns his gaze towards the other Daisy, and he notices she's staring at him, a pout on her pretty red lips.
"Why not?" she asks. George wants to roll his eyes, but he's too polite to do so. He lets her continue the tantrum, "You know I used to have a poster of Henry Cavill in my old dorm, right? The whole time I was in University?" George barely nods. "So please, please, please, please, please... Please, George. Let me meet his girlfriend, hmm?"
"No," he answers. The hurt in Daisy's green eyes confirms he's been too harsh. He reaches up to tuck a loose tendril of hair behind her ear. She lets him do it, wearing a small and sweet smile. "I'll get jealous, baby," he lies in an attempt to soften his previous words.
She laughs, hiding her face as it turns a flattering shade of crimson. She's always been flattered by stuff like this and George doesn't understand why. They're not a couple, to begin with.
"Okay," she circles the table, fingers lacing into George's as she sits on his lap. She plants a kiss against his lips, "I'll get going then. Call me later?"
"Yeah," he pecks her on the tip of her nose and her eyelashes quiver.
The moment Daisy leaves, her namesake, George's sister Daisy, pops his head from the kitchen.
"You know, Henry is my celebrity crush too," her feet express her enthusiasm in small jumps. "I'm so excited!"
"You what?" George's nostrils flare, "Why every girl I know is infatuated with him?"
The doorbell rings before George can retort any further. His eyes flick over to the wall clock on impulse. 8PM. Of course.
"She's here," Daisy smiles, hands flapping at her sides. She combs back her hair, pauses, and repeats the action two more times.
It reminds George of the time he'd run into Brad Pitt backstage at an award show in Los Angeles. He was already famous by then, but he'd still tugged at the sleeves of his tux obsessively, hoping the jacket was sitting squarely on his shoulders, right before he'd said hello.
He walks to answer the door as Daisy places the pasta on the table. Y/N's standing in the corridor with a bottle of red in one hand.
"Ms Marina," George drawls, "Is that you, in my humble home?"
Laughing, Y/N kisses both his cheeks in greeting. George chuckles, taking the wine, and suddenly, he feels his face burning hot. "On the dot, as always."
The girl blushes. At least he's not the only one.
"Come on in," George waves her through the door. "My sister is dying to meet you." He can hear the hissed Geo! like a whip slicing through the air.
Y/N snaps her knuckles, a smile pulling up evenly on both sides, "Hello, Daisy."
A demure, cotton-soft voice replies, "Hello, gorgeous. It's so nice to meet you.”
"Likewise,” the actress beams.
Save for a few bites of pancetta, the serving plates look as though they’ve been licked clean.
"That was so, so good Daisy. The best carbonara I've ever had" Y/N compliments the cook. "Thanks for letting me try it."
"Any time" she replies, looking like a kid who's just been handed a present. George smiles at her, pouring both girls another glass of wine.
The night has gone well. Being the outgoing type, Daisy wasted no time in making Y/N  feel comfortable in her brother's home. She'd seated her next to George at the table, fussing over them both as she peppered Y/N with questions about her last two projects. She'd let slip that she'd watched every season of The Tudor's and Y/N's smile had been bashful.
"I loved Henry's work," Daisy had admitted, and George couldn't help but giggle at how quickly his sister's face coloured in bright pink.
George offers Y/N the last bit of burgundy in the bottle. When the latter declines, licking at the wine-stained seam of her mouth, he pours it for himself.
"You don't have to be so formal with me," Y/N tells Daisy, her tone already fond. George can tell she likes that. "I'm a big fan of Henry too. I had the biggest crush on him before I even met him." Her face is still a little rosy. She blushes really easily, and George likes it.
“It still feels weird. Henry is your boyfriend!”
"It's totally fine. Trust me," Y/N reassures her. "We can fangirl over him as Geralt every time you want. I don't mind."
Daisy squeals.
"Okay, enough girl talk." It isn't jealousy what makes George scoff. At least that's what he tells himself. He reaches into his pocket for cigarettes. "I'm just gonna go for a smoke, okay?"
Daisy’s pretty face pinches, "I wish you'd quit. Those things are horrible for you."
"I'll just have one," he bargains, sweet as honey. He pats his belly, crafting a compact sound. "I need it. You fed me too well, sister."
Y/N sniggers and Daisy rolls her eyes. Pointedly, she asks, "Do you smoke?"
"Sometimes," Y/N answers. “But I agree, it’s nasty.”
George watches as Y/N —the traitor—agrees with his sister, "Anyways, you should come with me so I can show you around."
"You shall," Daisy encourages.
“I don’t know,” the actress murmurs but George has already hooked his fingers behind her elbow and is half-hauling her out of her seat. "C’mon, let's go."
"Fine. Lead the way, Geo."
They take the elevator down to the pool area on the fifth floor, where smoking is permitted. George puts a cigarette in his mouth, holding his lighter in front of it, so the flame ignites it.
Y/N takes a long sigh. "Daisy is great," she says quickly. "She's so much like you."
"Thanks. I guess?" George exhales, the smoke curling in a ribbon of diaphanous white. "You’re still seeing Henry, uh?"
The other smirks. "You say that like you know it for sure."
"Alma likes gossip” George licks his lips. They taste of wine and olives.
The girl shrugs. "It’s kinda..." she answers. "It's on and off."
"Oh?" George blows a few smoke rings, rounding out his mouth and flicking his tongue to create the hole in the centre. "Mind if I ask why?"
"No particular reason," Y/N rushes the answer. "I’d rather not talk about it. Sometimes it... it just doesn’t work, ya know?”
Without thinking, George makes an offer he didn't realize was on the table. "Whenever it doesn't work," he says, "you should just hang out with me," he quickly continues, a little freaked, words rushing out, "and Daisy. Me and Daisy."
Y/N laughs, just once: its all gums and perfect pearly teeth. "Do you feel sorry for me?"
"Hardly, Mrs Prettiest Face On TV," George retorts mildly. Y/N laughs again, and George can't tell if she's sarcastic or earnest. Not that it matters. "It's just you and my sister got along really well, and I–"
"Thanks," Y/N cuts in. Her eyes are particularly feline in this light, and her voice is a degree more gentle than it was before. "I'll take you up on that."
She watches him smoke in silence for a few more minutes, the night air clouding with the filmy exhaust of his cigarette. When Y/N yawns, George stubs it out. Then he loops his arm around her waist.
Unconsciously, she leans into the touch. "It's weird," she observes, "that we didn't know each other two months ago."
"Really weird," George concedes, slightly buzzed from the wine and only half-aware that something has lifted between them. "I’m glad it's two months later."
Tumblr media
In the days leading up to India, dinner at George's become a regular thing. Every two nights, Y/N will show up with something to add to the table: wine, desserts and beer, a floury baguette wrapped in paper or a basket of fresh fruit.
Sometimes Daisy joins them, and the conversation flows like blood through veins. At around midnight, Y/N will excuse herself to give the siblings their space but not before George extracts a promise from her to work out or watch a movie the following day. (She happens to love cinema as much as him.)
Other times, when Daisy is out with her boyfriend and the other Daisy isn't smouldering George with text messages asking him to dine with her, go to the movies with her, come to the theatre to see her, bla bla bla; George will chat idly with Y/N until the wee hours of the morning. The ice in their drinks will crackle and melt, diluting their colour, as they discuss their childhood dreams and the trajectory of their careers. They recount their upward climb in show business, the slow decline of some of their peers, and the fear that they might someday be in the same boat. They joke about their management and how both companies have long given up on damage control when it comes to their love lives.
George tells her more about caring, candid Alma, and Dean, his co-star and now best friend.
"Blake and Schofield are real-life BFF's?" George’s companion asks incredulously, "I stan so hard."
In turn, Y/N confesses him Sam Mendes is her absolute favourite director, and George promises to introduce them. She also voices about Henry, their ups and downs and the fact half of their circle of friends categorize their relationship as toxic.
"Keep that to yourself," Y/N adds after a brief lull. "I've never told anyone about it."
"They won't hear it from me," George swears, taking a gulp of watered-down Pilsen. He doesn't even tell his sister.
Tumblr media
Dharma begins its live shoots three months after the first read-through.
Y/N and George are scheduled to film in Mumbai for four weeks. Alma informs George it's likely they will extend to six due to Greta Gerwig's infamous obsessive compulsiveness. His actors often end up filming simple scenes over and over again for days, because the director doesn't think the natural light or the colour of a couch or the feeling is quite right.
"Already cleared it with the boss," Alma shares brightly. She means the head of his management, who happens to love George, as all CEOs love their biggest star.
"Fine with me," the actor says. "I don't mind staying in Mumbai a little longer." He's worked with less pleasant directors than Greta before, and a little OCD won't take the fun out of filming with Y/N.
He's pleased to discover that the other feels the same way.
"Let's press for six weeks," Y/N says as they climb into the luxury car waiting for them at the airport. She speaks in a natural tone of voice, as though there isn't a swarm of fans screaming outside the vehicle. "I had only been here once, years ago, I lived in a small city near Mumbai called Pune for almost two months.”
"How come?"
"School stuff... I can't wait to rediscover India. Have you ever been?"
"Nope," George says, sliding off his sunglasses and running a hand through his hair. "Count me in on the exploration."
The way Y/N looks at him like he's her closest person in the world right now makes George's insides warm.

Detecting and Treating Colour Blindness: The Importance of Colour Blindness Tests and Treatment in India
Colour blindness is a common visual impairment that affects individuals' ability to perceive colours accurately. In India, colour blindness tests and treatment options are available to diagnose and manage this condition effectively. In this article, we will explore the significance of colour blindness tests and treatment in India and how they can make a positive impact on the lives of those with colour vision deficiencies.
Understanding Colour Blindness
Colour blindness, or colour vision deficiency, is a condition in which individuals have difficulty distinguishing certain colours or perceiving them as they appear to individuals with normal colour vision. It is usually an inherited condition caused by a genetic mutation that affects the photoreceptor cells in the retina. The most common types of colour blindness are red-green colour blindness and blue-yellow colour blindness.
Importance of Colour Blindness Tests
Colour blindness tests play a crucial role in identifying and diagnosing colour vision deficiencies. These tests help determine the type and severity of colour blindness a person may have. Early detection is essential, as it enables individuals to understand their condition, make informed decisions, and seek appropriate treatment and support.
Colour Blindness Tests in India
In India, various eye clinics, vision centers, and hospitals offer comprehensive colour blindness testing services. These tests are usually non-invasive and painless, involving the use of specialized tools and charts to assess an individual's colour perception. Some common colour blindness tests include the Ishihara test, Farnsworth-Munsell 100 Hue Test, and the Cambridge Colour Test. These tests help ophthalmologists and eye care professionals evaluate colour vision deficiencies accurately.
Benefits of Colour Blindness Testing
Early Diagnosis: Colour blindness tests enable early detection of colour vision deficiencies, allowing individuals to understand their condition from an early age. This knowledge helps them adapt and develop strategies to cope with their visual impairment effectively.
Occupational Guidance: Colour blindness can impact career choices, as certain professions, such as graphic design, require accurate colour perception. By undergoing colour blindness testing, individuals can receive guidance on suitable career paths that align with their abilities.
Colour Blindness Treatment in India
While there is currently no known cure for colour blindness, treatment options in India focus on managing the condition and improving colour perception.
Assistive Devices: Colour-correcting glasses and contact lenses are available as assistive devices to enhance colour perception in individuals with colour blindness. These devices work by altering the wavelengths of light entering the eye, enabling better differentiation of colours.
Vision Therapy: Vision therapy is a structured program that aims to improve visual skills and perception. It involves various exercises and activities designed to enhance colour perception and overall visual function.
Supportive Measures: Education and awareness play a crucial role in supporting individuals with colour blindness. Schools, colleges, and workplaces can implement inclusive policies and provide accommodations, such as colour-coded labels or digital tools, to assist individuals with colour vision deficiencies. Colour blindness tests and treatment options in India are vital for individuals with colour vision deficiencies. Early detection through colour blindness tests allows individuals to understand their condition and seek appropriate support and treatment. While there is no cure for colour blindness, the availability of assistive devices, vision therapy, and supportive measures can significantly improve colour perception and enhance the quality of life for those with colour vision deficiencies. If you suspect colour blindness or have concerns about your colour vision, consider consulting an eye care professional in India who can provide the necessary tests, guidance, and treatment options to address your specific needs.

To dear God,
Everybody appreciates you, so let me be the one to question you for I think you're unfair.
Why are we scared of you?
When you're supposed to be our father.
Why should we trust you?
If you supposedly hide yourself in everything that exists.
Why should we come to you for help?
If you're the one who's supposed to be testing us.
Why should we donate to you?
If you're the one who works in mysterious ways.
Why are specifically choreographed phrases the only way to pray to you?
If you supposedly hear every person's troubles.
Why is a well to do person who's keeping a fast, blessed by you?
And not the person who hasn't eaten for days.
Why does class, religion, race, caste or sex matter to enter your home?
If you're supposed to be equal to all.
Why did you supposedly create us?
If we're just destined to perish.
Why is survival of the fittest a thing?
If we're all supposedly equal to you.
Why do you have so many forms and names?
When you're supposed to be the one helping us finding our identity
Why in a place like India, the average rapes occurring per day is 77?
When girls are supposed to be the reincarnation of "Goddess Laxmi".
Well, you've got nothing to worry about as I'll not be waiting for your response to this letter for i know that you sir dear god, do not exist. Because if you did the world would've been a much better place to live in.
A world where I wouldn't be hurting any religious sentiments by the colour of the cloth I choose to wear or the type of thread I choose to wear around my neck or the type of head cover i choose to wear on my head or how i choose to wear these things or by choosing which of your supposed house to bow my head in.
A world where girls are safe all the time or are treated equally as men or where they are not shamed on for getting periods every month or where they are not blamed for giving birth to a girl or where they are not judged on how much skin she chose to show or A world where a guy can be "girly" without being judged by society or where they are not married off at a young age or given away as a "gift" because she is a burden.
A world where live-in isnt a sin or where public affection is approved and not public rape or where the court of justice mattered more than the court of media or public or where criminals were punished rather than innocents or where it didn't take decades to clear of a single case or a world where our rights aren't just nominal but real or in a world where the court isn't blind.
A world where rich helps the poor and not exploits them or a world where the poor isn't poor anymore or a world where showing emotions isn't a weakness and having wealth isn't true power or in a world where helping other selflessly is the norm.
A world where smiling is the new normal and depression is a thing of the past or even if it does exist it is taken seriously.
A world where someone sweeping the road is treated with the same respect as the one throwing the trash or a world where scientists and army men are idolised more than movie and cricket stars or a world where citizen welfare takes more priority than politics.
Let me just appreciate you a bit before I conclude this as I've ranted too much negatively lol,
I appreciate you for you give hope to those who don't have anyone else in their life. You give people someone to blame on other than themself which can otherwise be mentally exhausting. You give room for people to believe in miracles which I appreciate you for as pondering a question they can't find the answer to is disappointing as a result.
At last I'd like to say, I believe there's definitely something that exist superior to us but I refuse to believe it's you the way we perceive you.

Recording several songs from the Buffy musical episode with people from all over the world (I especially like Amber and Michiel Min, a Dutch physicist with the perfect opera voice) and also a few Tenacious D songs. Collabs are a lot of fun - as long as noone joins uninvited and ruins the whole thing...
Manu calling my out on my gaga-mode. It usually starts when I get tired and act really crazy and childlike. The other night we ordered from Burger King (chili cheese nuggets, hurray), chilled in bed and I watched him record Smule videos.
Babylon Berlin Sundays.
Seeing Sash for the first time in months. Intense cuddle sesh.
Tiny little guilty pleasure: using the llama plushie Lena and Obi gave me for my birthday as a pillow. So soft.
Playing around with my new Apple Stylus in Procreate. I actually got the pen for free (payment for my logo design).
Strawberries and cream. Which were also the main ingredient of my birthday cake. I actually got some little party candles for myself and was able to blow them out and make a wish on my birthday.
The cute illustrated board game I got from Yanch and Sash; it's called Roots.
Learning the cup song chords on the ukulele (I borrowed Manu's uke and called it Justin - now I have to paint the instrument, the theme is Hawaiian Death Metal).
Our summer vacation is going to happen after all! We just booked our flights to Ibiza/Formentera!
Starting my first macrame project (a hanging planter). I also want to make a wall hanging for the balcony.
Watching reality/contest TV shows on Netflix: The Big Flower Fight, The World's Most Extraordinary Homes, Interior Design Masters and Glow Up. I also loved the Enjoy Your Trip documentary about psychonauts.
Lena and Obi making amazing vegetarian burgers. And a Pocky/KitKat blind test. Finally meeting the cat that keeps visiting in the evenings.
Vietnamese food in Manu's bed on my birthday. New Girl episodes. Playing around with the Loopify app. Weed. Laughing and talking until 5am. I got some art supplies as a birthday present (CMYK acrylic paints and hot iron beads).
Making roast beef (Manu) and dumplings! I think I also made pretzel dumplings with creamy mushrooms that week.
My obsession with Adobe Fresco. Digital drawing can be so much fun!
Growing crystals on rocks and stones in my kitchen (yup, I bought one of those crystal growing kits for kids).
Taking sneaky pictures of interesting people on the subway. There was a woman dressed in all red and when she had left another lady sat down in the same seat - dressed in all yellow! Also, there was a girl wearing mismatched socks. A cute dog. A really stylish woman with some kind of kimono coat, a white dress, black studded cowboy boots and a fanny pack.
Playing Role Models with Maike and the others. I love the categories they came up with. And the weird verdict at the end of the game like: Kat, the "not so bumbling musical diva".
Being dry and warm again after getting dirty, cold and wet.
Seeing the famous cat from a few houses down coming out of the garden underneath his very own sign (the kids made a sign with a photo of the cat and a warning - be careful, we have a wild cat!)
I gave money to an old beggar. I don't know why, probably because he was really old. I'm getting softer, eh?
A good talk with my gynecologist and a few helpful recommendations.
The neighbour I dislike surprisingly doesn't mind me singing in the evening.
My kids at school are super chill these days. I haven't been as relaxed in a very long time. Oh, and the lesson about India was a lot of fun I thought.
Getting rid of the ugly mirror tiles in my hallway. This white wall there feels like such an accomplishment now.
Rediscovering music. Somehow my reading phase is over, I listen to music all the time now (something I haven't done ever since I still had a car). Getting a Spotify premium account and bluetooth headphones. Good decision.
The happy feeling I get when I'm singing. And Isi's surprising (and fantastic) voice! Her recording of Little Black Submarines blew our mind.
Luvos Healing Earth face masks.
I usually hear the kids playing in the beergarden next door when I'm in my kitchen and one afternoon there was a girl on the swing yelling: "Schaukeeeeeln, schaukeeeeeln, Apfelschooooorle!" I can totally relate. Two of my favourite things. And I never lack enthusiasm either.
Lena telling me about a dream she had. We were in high school, in the cool-guy tract to be exact. I was standing there shaking my head no, as if I wanted to warn her not to go there. She somehow made out with some really crazy dudes after that? Interesting.
Nothing new here but as always: my urban jungle and the smell of my blankie.
An unvoluntary cold shower. At least drying off after the shower because it had somehow stimulated my bloodflow and really woke me up. Better than coffee.
Aldi macarons (surprisingly), brownie-style Hanuta and really old gouda. Foamy coffee. Rice crackers with cottage cheese, tomato and avocado. Herbal salt. Lemon-basil flavoured Philadelphia cream cheese. Walnut cream cheese. Corn cobs.
Self-care. Eating a little healthier. Using dental floss all the time. Pampering my skin with serums and creams.
Watching a red squirrel climbing up a tree, jumping from branch to branch and finally entering the neighbours' balcony.
The first blush on my very own home-grown tomatoes.
Eating tapas-style for dinner. Olives, some bits of cheese and veggie sausage, hummus, crisp bread, tomatoes and pickles. Preferably in bed watching POSE.
The reflection of my phone display in a glass of white wine. Dark background, psychedelic colours.

Nik Dodani, Sujata Day, Kiran Deol on the evolving space for Indian-origin creatives in western cinema
Nik Dodani, Sujata Day, Kiran Deol on the evolving space for Indian-origin creatives in western cinema
Where once, being brown brought with it stereotypes and typecasting, now a new generation of creatives of Indian origin, including Sujata Day, Kiran Deol, Nik Dodani and Avantika Vandanapu, is effecting change in western cinema — with diaspora narratives and creating their own support structures
“The producers actually asked if I’m ‘100% Indian’,” recalls Sujata Day about an unfortunate audition experience for a major sitcom in 2018. The actor-filmmaker, along with four other Indian-American actors, was vying for the role of the fiancée of one of the show’s lead characters. “In response to the producers’ query as to whether or not I was ‘100% Indian’, I said, ‘My parents are from Kolkata and I speak fluent Bengali, so yes.’ But the fact that I had to defend my Indianness was very strange. I know I didn’t book the role because I clearly didn’t look ‘Indian enough’ to them.”

Day, during a video call with The Hindu Weekend, shakes her head as she talks about the then-and-now of South Asian representation in western film spaces. But the 37-year-old is not alone in her views of a culturally-stagnant cinema industry in the West. The industry boxed its South Asian actors and filmmakers into what they deemed acceptable. But in the past five years, creatives have continually expressed their dissent, announcing on social media, as well as during roundtables, protests and even stand-up routines that they are tired of the ‘identikit Indian’ roles.
More South Asian-origin actors, such as Dev Patel, Janina Gavankar, Rahul Kohli, Geraldine Viswanathan, Utkarsh Ambudkar, Kuhoo Verma, and Anya Chalotra, are shunning reductive roles in favour of fully-rounded characters that had long been reserved for only a few actors of colour.
For example, in Hulu’s Plan B, Kuhoo Verma’s portrayal as a sexually-curious teen who has to come to terms with the reproductive rights in her conservative state of South Dakota as she tries to purchase Plan B (morning-after pill) resonated with many women of colour. Prior to this, Indian girls were the one-dimensional personification of purity culture across western cinema. More recently, Dev Patel’s casting as the historically assumed-white Sir Gawain in The Green Knight turned the tables on the scope of open ethnicities.

The identity struggle is never easily reconciled. Take that episode of The Mindy Project where Mindy (Mindy Kaling) goes on a date with the ‘ideal Indian man’ but he, unimpressed by her lack of knowledge about India, says he “could never date a coconut — brown on the outside, white on the inside”. This lights a flare to the tough dichotomy the diaspora tackles every day while forging their identity; embracing their surrounding culture and holding onto tradition.
Some address this by not taking on the ‘Indian-origin’ tag. Verma identifies as a woman of colour, as her family moved to the United States from South India but, without dismissing her heritage entirely, prefers to be known as ‘just an actor’ in the industry.

Meanwhile, actors and filmmakers including Nik Dodani, Day and Kiran Deol are also taking matters into their own hands — by either creating their own support structures for South Asian actors or producing their own films and taking them to international stages such as the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF).
Festivals matter
Festivals have become a cornerstone for Indian filmmakers and actors. It is not just a networking opportunity but a platform for visibility. In mid-September, actor-filmmaker Deol’s short I Would Never premiered at TIFF as well as Dodani’s Dear Evan Hansen.
“Massive festivals like TIFF really help to legitimise a filmmaker and their support really helps to bring up international talent,” says Deol, who has received support from Sundance and TIFF in the past to get her short film made. “I hope that these festivals continue to be as inclusive. Big film festivals like Cannes and TIFF have been some of the places where I’ve discovered some of my favourite filmmakers, so it’s no small thing.”

Meanwhile, Dodani, a deep admirer of Day’s “hustle” through the contentious industry, shares the festival circuit this year certainly feels different as well. “We are seeing more incredible filmmakers of colour; it’s a reflection of the power of our communities to get our stuff made and insert them into the conversation. The indie world has always been exciting because that’s where the films that push the boundaries exist, so we’re finally starting to see the financing start to follow the Black and Brown creators.”
Creating a community
The changes, however, are slow and not simultaneous; some generations of creatives will reap the rewards of those who have toiled for years in the murky industry. Things now could be looking up for casting as well as attention to details in South Asian roles and script. Avantika Vandanapu plays a young Gujarati high school student who is an ace coder and who, through a happenstance crush on a boy at school, discovers and nurtures talent for DJing.

Vandanapu’s Telugu roots have seen her appear in 2015’s Brahmotsavam alongside Mahesh Babu and 2016’s Premam with Naga Chaitanya and Shruti Haasan.
The 16-year-old says her auditioning process for Spin was a far cry from the horror stories minority actors have experienced, and she owes it all to their resistance and perseverance over the years. “From the moment I saw the script, I was so glad Disney had not generalised the Indian ethnicity, but had narrowed on the specificities of the Gujarati culture,” she says. “Seeing an Indian girl written as someone who is comfortable in her identity rather than having an identity crisis was exciting.”
Of course, Vandanapu understands identity conflicts are a prevalent matter, but she hopes it is not the only narrative for people of the Indian diaspora.
Speaking on what catalysed change across the industry changing, he says, “This industry is white-dominated, and the Black and Latinx communities in Hollywood have organised and supported each other in ways that are so inspiring; we hope to replicate that. The conversation around inclusion and equity has been changing for a few years now, but has accelerated immensely after last summer. The Black Lives Movement is directly responsible for that; every community of colour in the US is benefiting from the work the activists have done over the years. The real test, if the industry starts walking the walk, is in the next five to ten years.”

On their own terms
One of the happy results of this movement is The Salon, co-founded in 2019 by Atypical and Escape Room actor Dodani, along with Bash Naran and Vinny Chhibber. “It started out as an informal way for us to connect,” says the 27-year-old. “Vinny, Bash and I were chatting and we found we all knew different folks in the South Asian film industry but not everyone knew everyone. For the first year, our goal was to just get people in the same room, to have the most basic form of community. Our vision is to help the next generation of South Asian talent.”

Day is not blind to the industry’s flaws either, one of the most prominent being its unwillingness to change. “Green-lighters in the film community were, and still are, slow, but now we are giving ourselves the green light,” she says.
So, the filmmaker pooled her money and directed, wrote and starred in comedy-drama Definition Please, which has been a favourite on the festival circuit in the US, having won ‘Outstanding Directorial Debut for a Feature Film’ at the South Asian Film Festival in America, and Best Narrative Feature at CAAMFest.
Told through the Indian female gaze, the indie film follows an Indian-origin woman who is living in the past glory of her spelling bee champion days while trying to move forward and dealing with her grief-stricken family. The film, which also stars Ritesh Rajan, succinctly explores themes of female friendships, familial pressures, mental health, and toxic masculinity in the Indian community.

Day was inspired by her long-time Awkward Black Girl and Insecure collaborator Issa Rae, explaining, “Very few people know of her first two web series; everyone thinks Awkward Black Girl was her first. But she never gave up and never let the system stop her from creating. And neither should we!”
The OTT problem
Day is currently in chats with streamers and distributors worldwide for Definition Please, and she confides with a laugh, “They feel that if they have Bollywood movies on their platform, they don’t need diaspora films. They think we are being represented already, which is wild to me because as much as I love the stars, that’s not our lives in the diaspora. We have very specific and interesting stories to tell.
During Asian-American Heritage Month (May) in the US, she noticed that streaming companies were putting out lists of Asian content on special servers and many were subtitled and foreign, but not a lot were content out of the US (or the UK). “They are handling Asian inclusion in a global sense that doesn’t make sense to folks in the diaspora. We should be able to hold them accountable and we bring these grievances up in meetings and they’re hearing us. Hopefully, they make some changes to shift their thinking.”
Money talks
Having travelled to many film festivals when it came out in 2017, Day’s eight-minute short, Cowboy and Indian (a drama-thriller about a Bengali bride who collapses in the street and is rescued by a cowboy) is now being made into a television series — made possible by a South Asian film executive reaching out to her. “It absolutely matters who’s also buying stories for production. We need representation there too!” she says.
Agreeing with her, actor-filmmaker Deol elaborates, “I feel like funding for filmmakers is always the 21-million-dollar question. This is true for folks of any colour trying to get their projects made.”
A growing space that is increasingly getting more funding is book-to-screen adaptations. Diksha Basu’s Destination Wedding, which was shortlisted for the Wodehouse Prize, is currently being adapted to a series. Meanwhile, Rakesh Satyal and Dodani have long been working on an adaptation of Satyal’s 2009 bestseller Blue Boy, which tells the story of a young gay Indian-American boy who is bullied through his school years. Dodani, who found the book to be a “full body experience” when he first read it, turns screenwriter for the film. “We’re trying to find the right home and financing for it. We want to make sure it’s done right and gets the right budget and talent,” he says.
So, while many creatives are more than happy to bid goodbye to ‘brownface’, casting appropriation and tokenism — as Deol sees it, this farewell is rather fresh — there is still a lot to look forward to and to demand in terms of inclusion.
“The changes showcase for me both how far we have come, and how far we have to go,” Deol sums up, adding, “I’d love to get to a place in representation where we have the room to tell extremely specific stories that don’t have to speak for the entire diaspora because there is enough variety in the shows and movies that get airtime, that there is a multiplicity of voices and points of view to choose from.”
It will be a frustrating wait for this level of change and some unfortunate barriers are inevitable. But as more creatives of colour vocalise their needs and rights, and also hold studios and casting agencies accountable, things are bound to change.

Identifying successful outcomes in the retinitis pigmentosa treatment
One challenge of having a loved one suffering with retinitis pigmentosa is struggling to understand about what they are going through. This is also crucial especially considering that the same is progressive.
If the issue is present with a kid then retinitis pigmentosa treatment must be undertaken with immediate effect. Minus this, the child will feel uncomfortable and terrified which may cause them to withdraw from social circle.
 Managing retinitis pigmentosa
As stated before, the problem is a visual condition that can quickly become a social condition. Such patients need a good support system and family members need to work and adapt. They must also offer constant psychological support and encouragement to help the kid face this issue easily and navigate through the tough challenges.
 How does this issue occur?
Retina is a layer that is responsible for converting light into electric signals and the same is interpreted by the brain to help you to "see". Retinitis pigmentosa can be any inherited disease that affects the retina and its functioning. This issue can also be caused by other problems like -
Cone-rod dystrophy
Usher syndrome
Leber congenital amaurosis
Congenital stationary night blindness, etc.
Such an issue will impact the vision even if other aspects of the eye are working fine.
How does retinitis pigmentosa impact on the vision?
The retina carries special photoreceptor cells that includes rods, cones, etc. It is important that all these cells function correctly for the right vision.
The impact of retinitis pigmentosa varies as each disorder has its own set of challenges as for some it can be low vision and for others, it can be something extreme.
The changes in the vision occur from childhood itself yet these are too slow. In certain cases, the loss can be continuous while for others, it can be for a specific time.
Thus, if your loved one has been diagnosed with the issue, it is best to seek genetic testing and timely retinitis pigmentosa treatment in India. Doing so will help to determine the mutation and the extent of the progression of the same.
 Early signs of retinitis pigmentosa
The early signs of the issue are -
Problems with the night vision
Problems seeing dim light
Blind spots in side vision
In later stages, this may be -
Sensation of twinkling or flashing lights
Tunnel vision
Sensitivity to bright light
Extremely low vision, etc.
How can retinitis pigmentosa be managed?
Here are some of the common ways to manage the issue -
Using low vision aids and devices like     magnifier, etc.
Using special sunglasses and other methods to     avoid exposure to light.
Treating the underlying conditions like     cystoid macular edema, cataracts, etc.
Seeking the best retinitis pigmentosa treatment in India through Sanjeevan
When to contact my eye care specialist?
It is recommended to consult your eye care specialist on regular basis. However, it is recommended to contact them if there is a noticeable progression in the condition or development of a new issue like -
Loss of vision in terms of colour and clarity.
Feeling pain or discomfort in the eye.
